Speaker 1 (0:09) Trust no one and accuse everyone in Who's the Bad Guy, the official Barstool Sports social deduction game from the brilliant mind of Nick Teraney. In what's quickly becoming the most popular new party game around, players are secretly assigned unique roles with the good guys trying to expose the bad guys and the bad guys doing everything they can to stay hidden. Each game unfolds under alternating day and night phases with roles like the cool chick, the shy guy, the gambler, el presidente, the mentalist, the planner, the funny guy, and more. Every round is unpredictable, chaotic, and ridiculously fun. Who's the Bad Guy is great for parties, pregames, family gatherings, or groups who just love deception-based games. We got Ian behind the ones and twos, making sure everything looks fantastic. Jason was just in here helping us out with some audio. Might as well give him a shout out. He loves that shit, doesn't he? And fun guys all attitude, isn't he? Got Speaker 2 (1:33) to make sure the audio is right after our hiccup last week. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So apologies. We were in Speaker 3 (1:37) Chicago office last week. We're able to do some stuff with Dana B and Chicago office fucked up the the audio on. I'm putting it on them. I'm never giving you any fucking bad shit. We got a very special guest today. So we're going to get right into it. It's Anthony Rodia. So if you don't know him, then shame on you. What did I think you've been doing comedy for how many years? I think this is my eighth. So when we just say that it was the pandemic where all of a sudden things started to go from good to very good. And then since then, you've parlayed that into your first special was two years ago in 2024. Totally relatable. And now you have the new special Laugh Till It Hurts, which you had filmed at one of my favorite venues. Red Bank, New Jersey, Count Basie Theater. So you can catch that on Amazon Prime, but you can also get it on like Apple TV and a bunch of other spots. Apple Speaker 4 (2:24) TV, Vimeo, Google Play. Yes. Speaker 3 (2:27) My wife and I had dialed it up and she was like, what do you want to watch? And I was like, I really don't care, but I think Prime Video was the easiest thing in the world for us. Speaker 4 (2:33) So Speaker 3 (2:33) it's called. Totally Relatable is the one from 2024. Laugh Till It Hurts is the one that was filmed in Red Bank this year. Go check both of them out. On top of that, you can go see him live. He's basically on the road until April. I was looking at the calendar. If you go to rodeacomedy.com. Then you'd be able to see all the tour dates and all this shit. That's all out of the way. We're going to pump it a couple of times. Thank you so much for coming in. How Speaker 2 (2:55) are Speaker 3 (2:55) you doing? Speaker 4 (2:56) Good. After the whole parking dilemma downstairs. Yeah. So we're here. It's Speaker 3 (2:59) 1137, 11 o'clock. This motherfucker is supposed to be here. He says, ah, I prepaid my parking. And for people who are not watching this on YouTube or listening to it, he's the map of Italy right now. So he pulls up to the thing. I'm assuming it's a giant escalate. It is. It Speaker 2 (3:15) is a fucking giant escalade. And the guy goes, no, no, too big. He's like, I prepaid for it. Speaker 3 (3:20) Like the whole deal. Guy's like, no, no, it's too big. It's a great guess. It's a great fucking guess. I had no idea. So, and I can tell you, I park here every. fucking Speaker 4 (3:30) day. Is that what I look like? Like if I'm walking around, you look at me like I'm a fucking short dude driving an Escalade. No, Speaker 3 (3:35) but I have to say that I did have the cue and when he came in, he was like, my truck was too big. So I was like, where am I going with this? Where am I going on the truck is too big? And I was like, I'm going Escalade. I took a little bit of a gamble there. I Speaker 4 (3:46) did sell because my wife sat me down one day. She was like, I understand you love your cars, you love sneakers, you love watches. You have to talk about your pickup truck. So I bought a pickup truck. One, because Because I hunt. I've been hunting since I killed my dad. And two, to piss my wife off. She said to me one night, Speaker 3 (4:04) she Speaker 4 (4:04) was, do not let me come home and see a pickup truck in the driveway. You don't need it. I said, okay. I go to Ram and I said, I want the most obnoxious pickup truck where my wife's going to hate me. He goes, right there. It was a Ram 1500 Black Widow, lifted six inches, big mud tires. I take that to my buddy in Babylon. And I end up putting a tugboat horn in it. I put underground lights. I put a huge stereo system with subwoofers in the seats. Thing was obnoxious. My wife sits me down after like two years and she goes, listen, I love you. And I understand everything with you. You know, obviously there's an image because you're on the road and you're on stage. You look like a dick getting out of this thing. She goes, you open the door, you have to jump down because you're 5'6", and the truck is literally 70. You can't park it anywhere. You have to sell it. I go, but Speaker 1 (4:57) I love it. Yeah, you love it. You look like a dick. Speaker 4 (5:00) Right, right. And I go, bullshit. So I call my cousin. I'm like, yo. What do you think about the pickup truck? He goes, yo, I love it, but you're way too small for that truck. Really? You look like a dick in and out of it. Because I literally would jump out of it. Yeah, I could see it. But that truck was amazing. That I could never take to the city. They couldn't Speaker 3 (5:16) fit Speaker 4 (5:16) it anywhere. When they first, and again, Speaker 3 (5:19) I'm showing my age, when they first introduced the Ford Explorer, then they went one up to, I think, an Expedition. Then they had an excursion for a while, Speaker 4 (5:27) which was the big boy. The back doors opened up like this. Yeah, my Speaker 3 (5:31) wife bought one. My wife's the car person, I'm not. My wife had slept with a lot of mechanics. She's boring out engines, the whole deal. Meanwhile, I still can't drive a stick. Didn't get my license until I was 21 years old. She bought this thing and I was like, Hanny, you got to return it. I can't drive it. And when the cameras were first introduced, it was all new. So I can't blame you. I got a car that I look like a fuck. I just couldn't drive the goddamn thing. But Speaker 4 (5:54) you Speaker 3 (5:54) can get in one. I'm Speaker 4 (5:55) huge. Speaker 3 (5:55) How old are you? You got to be 6'7". Yeah, I'm 6'5", Speaker 4 (5:57) a little over 6'5". All right, anything over 6'2", to me, feels like 6'7", regardless. You could Speaker 3 (6:02) drive that. But I can't drive a Corvette, right? Speaker 4 (6:05) I have so much. So I have an Audi R8. Okay, yeah, so I... I have so much leg room. Speaker 3 (6:10) Oh, Speaker 4 (6:10) okay. I'm sitting here in traffic with my legs fully extended, crossed. My cousin's in there. My cousin's 6'1". He's like... I fucking hate you. He's like, please, are we taking this tonight to the Yankee stadium? I said, yes. Speaker 3 (6:23) My buddy's like, oh, I got the new Corvette. I said, oh, I'd love to see it. I went out. It's fucking roller skate as far as I'm concerned. I put my foot right through the thing. Listen, I. So sometimes you have to pretend that you like people's content when they're nice enough to come on the show. I think that if you and your wife sit down and you watch this, particularly you and your wife or your girlfriend, you're going to have a very good time with this standup. Honestly, I think it's one of those things where she was like, is that me? And I'm like, no, no, it's not you, sweetheart. And then I was like, is that me? Like, you know what I mean? I think it's different. I just saw some movie, the fucking invite or the invitation, right? The, with the four people are in it. The invite, yes. It was the invited invitation. Speaker 2 (7:05) The invite with Seth Rogen. Speaker 3 (7:06) Yeah, that thing. And that was one of those things. You sit next to your wife with it. Oh, it's relatable? Yeah, and they go Speaker 2 (7:11) to Speaker 3 (7:11) couple swap and stuff like that. I Speaker 4 (7:13) mean, I get young comics. And listen, again, I'm only in the business eight years. I'm not a veteran yet. I mean, I have a lot to prove. But I'm starting to get that respect where I'm not known as an Instagram comic. Because there's Instagram comics that. Listen, should never be on stage. I've watched their stuff and it's brutal. I have such a love for comedy and the art of standup comedy. All the old school guys, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Robin Williams, you know, Sebastian. You got these guys that didn't have social media. So I love what they do. I love, you know, how they did it. But I'm just starting to get that respect where people are reaching out to me going, okay, this guy's legitimate. I've seen his stuff. It's, it's fucking hilarious. And the young comments will reach out and go. I've been to your show. How do you get those roaring laughs? Those big belly laughs. Yeah. And I go, dude, stop trying to be funny and just be relatable. Yeah. Do it in a funny way. You could relate to people and they could sit there and say exactly what you said. It was that me. Yeah. They're laughing at themselves and you, but you're bringing it. Yeah. You're bringing it out. Just relate to the crowd, man. So, Speaker 3 (8:12) and by the way, we're going to talk about food because. You're an Italian guy. And I know that we're going to talk about food forever. One of the things that always concerns me when I see a young comic that I like is that they really try to like oversaturate the market with you. And there's, I mean, you had said now that you have another nine hours of content or, you know, stand up that you have in your head. Excuse me. I don't know. Are you, are you worried about that too? Like even Sebastian, they kept like making them do like specials at their specials at their specials. And it took some of the juice Speaker 4 (8:45) out of it a little bit for me. No, I mean, one of the, one of the hardest thing I tell a lot of comics that if you have a following and you start bringing it to the stage, you'll sell out the first two years. If your following is big enough. It's bringing people back a third, a fourth, a fifth, a sixth. I have this one group of friends that have seen me 60 times in eight years because my stuff is not always the same. Like we were just talking about how I did bananas, 10 shows in two weeks. You could have came to a Friday night show. I had people come Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and they laughed and they heard different things because I might say, okay, this crowd is more. old school so i might use the old school italian i might say this crowd is younger i'm going to use some of the young shit that i have and then i'll just mix it all together and now i'm getting to the point where they want to hear some of the you know some of my classics that i used four years ago right and i'll revamp those so i i think it's harder to stay relevant in stand-up comedy it's harder i always say it's my biggest challenge is to be funnier than i was yesterday okay and a guy like sebastian he's on such a high level that it's hard man it's it's tough but i've been like this ever since i was a kid Like I'll look at something and just find the funny in it. And I'm always writing. So I'm not worried about, I mean, I, I'm one of the few guys that I put so much of my standup online and guys are like, dude, aren't you afraid that they're going to see it? And then he, I'm not going to use it. I might. Right. But I put all my shit online because I write so much. Right. And it's sort of like, I don't know. And I don't do crowd work. I hate crowd work. Oh, no. Yeah. Not that I hate it. I got so much shit to say on stage for an hour and five hour and 10 minutes. If I say something to a, to a fan or I break someone's balls, I just probably took 10, 15 minutes out of the stuff that I worked really hard to write. Yeah. So I don't post crowd work. I don't, I feel like you're coming to my show for an escape. You know, to make you part of it. And some people like to be part of it. The downside to that is if they know you're doing crowd work, you're going to get people shouting out because they want to be included in your show. Yeah. So if Speaker 2 (10:45) it works for you, it worked for Matt Reif. Speaker 4 (10:47) But I mean, it's Speaker 3 (10:48) a Speaker 4 (10:48) dirty word, though. Like Speaker 3 (10:49) now Speaker 4 (10:49) it's like, oh, you're a crowd Speaker 3 (10:50) work comedian. I Speaker 4 (10:51) get you. Yeah. I'll hire you for the bar mitzvah. And there's a lot of people that will sit there and say, oh, wow, this guy put stuff on that's actual comedy. Like as an old school lover of comedians. I want to hear your take on life. I want to hear your take on life, marriage, kids, from your perspective and what your comedy is going to do to that particular topic. Right. Listen, I could call somebody and go, hey, what do you do for a living? Oh, what's Speaker 3 (11:14) your Speaker 4 (11:14) name? But nobody else around there really cares. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'd rather relate to the crowd. Unless you're insulting them. Speaker 3 (11:20) Like going Speaker 4 (11:21) back Speaker 3 (11:22) at a heckler, I find is something that I consistently Speaker 4 (11:24) click on. That I'll do. I love that. I don't really get many hecklers, but you know. Right. I posted a clip where I had a lady that was high off her ass in Atlantic City approached the stage shouting out that she lost 30 pounds. I'm like, 60 would have been stage presentable. You know, I Speaker 3 (11:39) could Speaker 4 (11:40) still see your fupa. Like, you come out and heckle the comedian. You deserve to get fucking torn apart. You know, I'd rather just stay away from the crowd where we saw. And again, it gets food in a sec. We saw Rickles Speaker 3 (11:52) a couple of times. And first time we'd gotten the table right by the stage. for my brother's 40th. We were hoping he would call him up. Instead, he called me up and he just pee pants me. A humiliation ritual. It was an Speaker 2 (12:05) absolute honor. Speaker 3 (12:07) Insulted my wife in a very bad way, the whole deal. And then afterwards they came over. And they left, gave us a note, please come backstage. And backstage, thanks so much for being a good thing with a bottle of champagne for Speaker 4 (12:17) you and your Speaker 2 (12:17) lovely wife. Speaker 4 (12:18) Absolute class. But Rickles is on another level. Like my funniest, the funniest bit I've ever seen with him, and I'll watch it at least once a week just to go back to it, was when he was, I think it was Frank Sinatra. It was on Johnny Carson. Yeah. And he goes, you know, he goes, yeah, he goes, I saw, you know, he goes, John Rickles, Don Rickles is at dinner. He comes up to me. He goes, Hey Frank, I'm with a girl and I really want to prove that I know you. She doesn't believe me. Can you come over and say hi to really like do great things for me? And this girl, I want to hook up with her. And he says, Frank Sinatra comes over. He goes, Hey Don. He goes, what the fuck Frank? Can't you see I'm eating? But that guy was such a genius man. And, and what he did with crowd work wasn't even crowd work. He just annihilated the crowd. And Speaker 3 (12:58) that's what I mean. If, if you are, I can tell you another time we saw him, they put two mics up. He's Speaker 2 (13:04) in Speaker 3 (13:04) a wheelchair at the time at the end. And you're allowed to go up and ask him a question on either mic. They did one. So it's probably about 10 people online on either side. That's just fueling him. And one of the women that we were with went up there. It was her birthday and she was heavyset. And she goes up there and says, Don, it's my birthday. Anything you want to say to me? And I'm telling you, he could barely lift his head. And he looked up and he said, lay off the cake. And Speaker 2 (13:27) we were like, holy shit, like, why'd you do that? But she walked out Speaker 4 (13:30) like it was, you know, like. But you know what the amazing thing with Don is? She loved it. He did it in such a way that not only would the person not care that it was done to, but he would literally say what everybody in the crowd was thinking about that person. Yeah. But back then, comedy was a little different. Everyone's so up in their emotions now, man. It's got to be tough. The best is when I get somebody that there's a clip that I put out. It hits like 5 million views. There's 150,000 shares. Everyone in the audience is dying. Yes. And you get that one person, you're not funny. Now, what are they laughing Speaker 3 (14:07) at? You asshole. Yeah. Every comment. Speaker 4 (14:10) I wish I could track people's IP address and just go over like three of my cousins. Yeah. What would you say about me? I wasn't familiar. You were the asshole. Bring me up. Speaker 3 (14:18) I would love to. I'd just be on your Speaker 4 (14:19) back Speaker 3 (14:20) with a Speaker 4 (14:21) fucking Kangol hat. The one overcoat. Yeah, yeah. Speaker 3 (14:22) Just like a piggyback ride talking over Speaker 4 (14:25) your shoulder. What the fuck did you say? What did you say? I'll be like Hodor. He's my transportation. What did you say? Speaker 3 (14:30) All right, we're going to get into food. Before I even go any further, listen, likes, subscriptions. Anthony knows this more than anybody else. Buying tickets and stuff like that obviously helps him. But likes, subscribes. All that stuff is what keeps this going and keeps gives Dave a reason to let us keep going with this. You're from Westchester. Yes. So. Speaker 3 (14:51) Like I grew up around New York and I tell people coming from Brooklyn, I know more about Staten Island, New York City, because I went to high school here and the Bronx than I do about my neighboring Queens. Like I just happened to not look that way. I know even less about Westchester. What's the like to Westchester to you? I think for people outside of New York, they think of it as like a wealthy town, a big wealthy town in Westchester. What's that type of thing? And how has it changed now that you're on Long Island? Speaker 4 (15:21) My wife is from Middle Village, Queens. Okay. And when I met her, I said I was from Westchester. She was like, oh, you live in the country. And I'm like, I'm five minutes from the Bronx. It's not the country. I live in New Rochelle. But yeah, you've got a lot of places like Scarsdale, Bedford, you know, Chappaquass, Scarsdale. Briarcliff. Briarcliff. But that's north of Speaker 3 (15:43) the wall for me. Like, do you guys get good Speaker 4 (15:44) bagels up there? Speaker 3 (15:45) Like, do you guys get great pizza? Well, yeah. I'm saying it's a blind spot. Because Speaker 4 (15:48) Scarsdale. And Waikigil, north New Rochelle, is predominantly Jewish. Okay. So if you don't have good bagels, you're Speaker 1 (15:55) going Speaker 4 (15:55) to get killed. Yeah. So there's a ton of great bagels in Westchester. But the food also, like Dave went to Johnny's Pizzeria in Mount Vernon. Probably one of the best slices I've ever had. You have to eat it there. It's paper thin. I think he rated it like a 8.9 or 9. Like a 9.1. Yeah. It is so good. It's phenomenal. We used to drive there in high school. Phenomenal. Phenomenal. Speaker 3 (16:15) And like that's where Clem kind of lives. Kevin. It's always been north of the wall for me. Like, you know, and since I didn't drive as a kid, like it was only like the subways. I never took a fucking subway up to Westchester. There's hidden gems. So there's Speaker 2 (16:26) a Speaker 3 (16:26) blind spot. You Speaker 2 (16:26) got Speaker 4 (16:26) Johnny's hidden gem. You got Dunwoody Pizza in Yonkers. You got my buddy that owns Modern Restaurant. That's a phenomenal food. You got Sergio's in Portchester. That's a phenomenal restaurant. You've got a lot of hidden gems in Westchester, man, a lot. I just think, though, that as long as Speaker 3 (16:42) it keeps that New York feel to it, then Westchester is going to be fine. But I'm going to ask you right now, I'm looking at your tour dates and you go all the way around. What's been the food scene for a guy who's from the New York City area now that you're touring all the way around? And if you look at your touring schedule again on rodeocomedy.com, rookdeacomedy.com You're on the road basically through April. Actually through Speaker 4 (17:07) August, but we haven't posted those yet. Speaker 3 (17:09) Okay. How do you avoid not being just this giant fat bastard being on the road that whole time? Because that's when I make bad decisions when I'm on the road. Speaker 4 (17:17) Dude, I love food. Right now I'm on fucking, I'm doing the whole peptide thing. Oh, are you? Yeah, yeah. It's not even to get abs. It's just to maintain. Okay. Speaker 3 (17:25) I don't want to get any bigger. Dude, here's the Speaker 4 (17:27) problem. You gain 20 pounds. You're 6'5". Yeah, yeah. You just look like a fucking house. Yeah, I Speaker 1 (17:32) can Speaker 4 (17:32) move. I look like Danny DeVito. I gain anything. Right. People in the comments like. I have tough skin. You could break my balls. I come from a huge Italian family. My grandfather, I think, is like one of 17. I've got cousins after cousins that just broke balls. When I first started this, my cousin Frankie would write on my page, you're no Sebastian. And they're like, who is this asshole? I'm like, my cousin. My fucking blood. But somebody was like, yo, dude, chill out with the food. You look like a fat Oscar De La Hoya. Oh, fucking Speaker 3 (17:59) Annie. I'm watching this last night. And Annie says, couldn't this guy be related to Oscar De La Hoya? See? And I said, yeah, if Oscar De La Hoya's cousin let himself go. I Speaker 4 (18:09) didn't say that at all. I apologize. Well, that's why I asked. If you watch the first special versus the second special, second special, I'm like 15, 20 pounds thinner. Because I watched the first one. I'm like, there's no way I'm doing this as a fast rock again. Yeah, yeah. Because there's certain ways I move my head. Like right now, I'm trying to keep my chin up because I get double chin. Yeah. But listen, we rent a lot of Airbnbs. We don't do hotels. My cousin Marco tours with us. He's our DJ and my touring manager on the road. He cooks. And we try to eat really, really good. But dude, there's times where like when I was in Cincinnati, we went to a place called, I think Jack Ruby's Steakhouse. They had, I get erect when I talk about this. They had a dessert. Have you ever had butter cake? Stop now. Because it changed this son of a bitch's life. I've spilled more butter cake than you're ever going to have in your life. That's Speaker 3 (18:58) a Speaker 4 (18:58) flex there right there. Butter cake is so. It's crazy. So I said to the guy, I said, yo, you make. And I always love doing this for the people that work at the restaurants. I said, you decide. Butter cake or donuts? He goes, butter cake. I go, really? Yeah. He goes, butter cake, butter cake, butter cake. I go. It's like Beetlejuice ate three times and it popped out. I said, all right, give me the butter cake. I cut into this butter cake at Jack Ruby's in the middle of the restaurant, a very high-end restaurant. I moaned so loud. Really? That's Speaker 1 (19:27) how Speaker 4 (19:27) you know you're a fat bastard. You moan. I ate it. I went, oh, Speaker 2 (19:31) oh, oh, oh, my God. Oh, my God. And he goes, everything all right? I go, give me another one. Bring another one. He goes, but you only took one bite. I go, bring me another fucking butter cake. I Speaker 4 (19:40) ate two butter cakes. When I looked at what was in it. I called my wife. I said, I might have a stroke tonight. Oh, yeah. I said, I have nine sticks of butter in me and I couldn't be happier. Speaker 3 (19:49) Oh, yeah. Nine, six hundred pound of sugar. Speaker 4 (19:50) I'm Speaker 3 (19:51) a Speaker 4 (19:51) dessert guy, man. Let's not get me wrong. I like great food, but there's something about butter cake, a chocolate chip skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, deep fried rainbow cookies. Like, dude, like some people watch porn. I go through a menu. Speaker 3 (20:07) Not safe for work should be on a lot of stuff that I it's. I can tell you now, I'll walk through like a specialty store. Not like necessarily Eataly, but something like Uncle Giuseppe's even. Yeah, yeah. Which is up by me. I got that Speaker 2 (20:20) by me. And it's Toys R Us. Yeah. It's Toys R Us the week before Christmas for me. And that's why. And so since I Speaker 3 (20:27) cover NASCAR as well, I don't know why. And we go to all these different places. And so whenever I wind up at Fine Dining, Ian does a lot of social for me with NASCAR. So he travels with me. And so whenever there's any kind of butter cake on the menu, this motherfucker has gotten so confident with them. Not very confident around a menu because he doesn't try a lot of different things. We went to a place in, where was the last place we were at? It was Chicago. In Chicago. And he orders the butter cake, but he says. Don't give me the blueberry compote on top of it. Don't give me any fruit, scoop of vanilla ice cream, and the homemade whipped cream on the Speaker 4 (21:04) side, like the schlag and Speaker 3 (21:05) stuff.
