Speaker 3 (0:00) This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Hello, gorgeous. It's Lala Kent. Welcome to Untraditionally Lala. Speaker 2 (0:09) Welcome back. Hello, gorgeous. We're here with Untraditionally Lala. Speaker 3 (0:15) What makes Lala untraditional? Her family. And the dynamic. Welcome, Mom. Hi, how are you? We're good. How are you? Speaker 2 (0:26) I'm happy. Speaker 3 (0:27) Good. Hi, TT. Hi, Speaker 2 (0:29) hi. Speaker 3 (0:31) People were asking after last week's episode what my spiral was. Now mom's looking Speaker 2 (0:37) down. I was making sure I didn't have Himalayan salt on my shirt. Speaker 3 (0:44) Mom, what was my spiral about? I'd love to get your take on it. I think Speaker 2 (0:49) you were stressed that Easton was going to find his person and you'd be in the dust. Speaker 3 (0:55) Okay. Find the Easton finding his person doesn't mean I'm being left in the dust. There was, it was a combination of shit. Okay. Easton had told me the night before, Hey, Dubai and I would like to go to the Glen tomorrow to have breakfast with you guys. And I was like, excellent. And as a Virgo, I take that shit seriously. Then I wake up and I'm getting my kids ready to go to the Glen and. Easton's still snoozing away and says, we're not going to go. And I was like annoyed by it. I'm like, well, I didn't need to be getting ready to go to the Glen today right now either. Also, it was a combination of multiple things. I was like, okay, this, and don't get offended by this. Speaker 1 (1:42) I'm not offended at all. Speaker 3 (1:43) Okay. This is a random person. This is the second random girl Easton has brought into my home. With Speaker 2 (1:52) many more to come. Random in respect of we don't know her that well. Speaker 3 (1:58) Yes, that's what random Speaker 2 (1:59) means. Speaker 3 (1:59) That's Speaker 2 (1:59) what Speaker 3 (1:59) random. Mom, random. Random seems Speaker 2 (2:01) really harsh to me. Random. Speaker 3 (2:03) It is harsh. She's a random woman. Speaker 2 (2:05) Okay. Speaker 3 (2:06) It's not to say that she wasn't lovely. But Speaker 2 (2:10) we don't know this girl. You could say a random, a lovely random girl. A Speaker 3 (2:14) lovely random girl. Yeah. Okay, that's fine. All right. And I'm telling my mom this. I'm like, she's random. Do you understand? Like, I haven't even brought a person back to this house. And Easton, this is the second rando he's brought back. And my mom's like, well, you know, I think the difference is, Lauren, is, you know, men are more apt to be mass murderers and women aren't. And I'm like, the fuck? Okay. Speaker 1 (2:46) Lisa, good day. I understand, but Speaker 3 (2:49) like, it's still a person who we don't know who is coming to a place where my children lay their heads down. And that I was spiraling on. And then I was like, also, this is my dog. This is my boy. He very well could find his person who lives in Dubai. What does this mean for me and my family? And no, Easton, this is very important for me to say, because I was talking to a friend about my spiral and she legitimately asked me, do you not want Easton to find his person? It wasn't like, do you not want Easton to find his person? She was genuinely asking me this. And I said, of course I do. Easton deserves to find his person. Easton deserves to move in with a chick, have his love story, have children that are actually his. I want that for him. At the same time, that will be quite an adjustment for me. Speaker 1 (3:42) It'll be quite an adjustment for all of us. Of Speaker 3 (3:44) course. Speaker 1 (3:44) Because that's, I won't, I told you, even me, like I'm very, I love my family. I told you guys that I feel off when I don't come in in the morning and see you guys. I feel off when we don't have our movie night. Or as you guys see, when I go back and play video games, how often do I come into the house for no reason? Just to make sure everyone's there. Yeah, Speaker 3 (4:05) no, I love Speaker 1 (4:06) my family. And I will say having her there, it was a big adjustment. And that's where I really don't think I'm ready for a relationship for everybody at wondering as well. We're on like a little not talking right now, feeling my emotions. And I just, Like it's weird like you doing all of that I was like I kind of like I need my family and that's where I'm like no I'm not ready for a relationship because I'm still skittish on this little sobriety road and with what I have I feel very confident in staying sober So I for me it's gonna be a huge adjustment and it's gonna be a special person that is going to have to take like to be put in there You Speaker 2 (4:45) know? Speaker 3 (4:45) Yeah. But by the way, I thought she was wonderful. She was amazing. It's Speaker 1 (4:50) just Speaker 3 (4:50) geographically fucked. Geographically, yes. But considering that she lives, you know, 17 and a half hours away, you guys have seen each other a lot. Like you could very well make that work. Speaker 1 (5:04) Yes. And can I be honest? Another thing that really scares me is if. She were to uproot her life and come here and say we try to make it work the pressure that that would put me under if it not working and just looking at her and being like you Uprooted your whole life to come here and now I'm feeling a certain way and then that's where I am a pushover and I would just do it because I would feel so bad for that person that I would be unhappy for them. Speaker 3 (5:33) Yeah, so Speaker 1 (5:34) that's where I'm like, I need to figure out who I am what I want and Somebody who can fit in this little family. By Speaker 3 (5:41) the way, Easton, when you find somebody, when I find somebody, it's inevitable the dynamic is going to shift. You're not going to want to live in that back house, and she's not going to want to do that. And I'm certainly not going to want my mother to live in the same household downstairs. There's going to have to be a shift. I'm not saying a ginormous shift where everybody goes into their own lives. Yes, it was funky for me having someone who I didn't really know at the house. Like I felt a little uncomfortable laying by the pool. That doesn't mean that I didn't like her. I thought she was amazing. No, Speaker 1 (6:18) it's Speaker 3 (6:18) just a Speaker 1 (6:18) different, it feels like you're at a public pool now. It Speaker 3 (6:21) was just a different energy. I was like, okay, there's another person that's sleeping here and waking up here that is lovely, but I don't know her. Speaker 1 (6:30) And I got nervous. Well, yes. And I will say we're a very open family and we just talk about anything and everything. And sometimes we have to make sure the people we're talking around are safe people as well. And she at the time is a lovely random girl. We don't know what if she was going to sell us. You know, there's just you feel a certain way. And yeah. And I just to let you know, I was feeling certain ways, too. And Speaker 3 (6:54) it was just but. Speaker 1 (6:55) Not because she would do just like it's a new person. You never know. It's very Speaker 3 (6:58) important that you know I want those things for you, though. This was just the first person that you've talked to where I'm like, this could be something. And the dynamic is going to shift. And quickly, I was thinking like. Speaker 3 (7:13) If he ends up like moving out or something, like this phase is over. That means time has passed and like it's going to be different. Speaker 1 (7:22) Yeah. That's why if you don't change, you don't age. So if we just continue to do this, time will never pass. Speaker 3 (7:28) But I want that for you. I want you to find someone. Speaker 1 (7:30) Thank you so much. And just to be honest, like there's never been a time where I'm like, my fucking family doesn't want me to find anyone. Like, no, I know my family wants like great things for me. And that's what's like, that's the other thing. When you guys are like talking to me about things, I'm not like, they don't want anything for me. I'm like, okay, they're seeing things that I'm not seeing because sometimes I'm like in this little love bubble and it's like, I need the 30,000 foot view. Speaker 3 (7:55) Yeah. You don't need to tell me. I have been there where I'm like, no, I'm marrying this guy. They're like, you've met him once. And I'm like, nope, marrying him. He's moving into the house. We're having babies. They're like, you don't know him. I'm like, don't care. Love him in love, in love. Speaker 1 (8:07) And then we're in the car. So did I tell you Speaker 2 (8:09) what a dickhead this Speaker 1 (8:10) guy is? Time was going to tell us. Speaker 2 (8:14) It certainly did. I was like, wow. You're both going to find your people. Speaker 1 (8:18) No, we will. We will. But it will take us. But that's going to be a Speaker 3 (8:22) shift, man. I'm telling you. After this situation, I realize I'm like. East is my fucking road dog. My Speaker 1 (8:30) homie. Speaker 3 (8:31) My homie. Best friend. Speaker 1 (8:33) Best friend. I'm not kidding you. I'm in a rock and a hard spot right now because I kicked, I really am glad that I did this. But when I was like 21, 22, I'd hang out with like 50 year old dudes, like go to drinks with them after work and do things. And some of them were single. Some of them were not. And like, I always held on. John Farron, my good friend, he told me too. And I like hold on to it. He was like, Get married because life gets lonely. Speaker 2 (9:00) And he was lonely. And he was very Speaker 1 (9:02) lonely. But then I'm like, all right, I'm in a pretty fun city. It's a lot of old people going out and about. Maybe I don't have to be lonely if I'm alone. There's a lot going through my mind right now, guys. You know what Speaker 2 (9:18) I like saying? It's easy to be alone when you're not alone. Speaker 3 (9:21) The one who said that to Speaker 2 (9:22) me was Speaker 3 (9:23) my ex-fiance's mother. Speaker 2 (9:26) And that Speaker 3 (9:27) stuck with me. Like I can't, when I talk to my friends who are constantly looking for men and I'm like, I don't get it. Just like be alone. Just be by yourself and figure out what you want. They're like, you will never understand because you go home to a full house. When I don't have my child, I go home and I am fully alone. And that was very eyeopening. And I'm happy that they said that because. I do forget that my normal is completely different from everybody else's. Like I'm not constantly when people are like, I just can't believe you haven't thought about dating. And I'm like, it has rarely crossed my mind until you just brought it up. And I feel like maybe I should, maybe I'm weird. Speaker 1 (10:10) No, our family is weird. We're like, no, we get up in the morning. We chat about good morning America. Speaker 3 (10:18) And Speaker 1 (10:18) then we, all we do, it's not, so are you going to go on a date tonight? It's. We're all in the house for Game of Thrones tonight, right? Speaker 2 (10:25) I have plans. Speaker 1 (10:26) You're canceling them. I have canceled plans for Game of Thrones, guys. Speaker 3 (10:30) No, my favorite is Speaker 1 (10:31) when Speaker 3 (10:31) we go. We Speaker 2 (10:33) planned Speaker 3 (10:33) family night. And Easton's looking at us like, that's every fucking night. And I'm like, I know, but this was a plan. I went to Speaker 1 (10:43) Not Scary Farm. And it is an amazing thing if you're in the area, go for it. But next day, Sosa's birthday, my family looks at me and goes, you just like plan things on very terrible timing. You Speaker 3 (10:59) do. And Speaker 1 (10:59) I was like, yeah, I was the one who was like, hey, all of my friends, because I'm the planner, I plan things. No, I got a text that said we're going on this date and I didn't go. Speaker 3 (11:09) Have my two-year-old niece's birthday Speaker 1 (11:12) tomorrow. Can't make it, guys. What the fuck? Like, Lisa calls me at like nine. I had to take two Dramamine so I didn't throw up. So it's been a couple rough two days. But Lisa calls me in the bitchiest fucking time. Because Speaker 2 (11:27) we had all the people setting up. We need to get up Speaker 1 (11:29) and start moving things. I get up and within 20 minutes, everything that she's complaining about is done. And then she looks at me and she goes. Are we going to get ice? We need to get ice. We need to put all these out. I'm thinking, if I get ice right now, it'll be melted by the time the party starts. So just ease up, bitch. Ease up. Speaker 2 (11:48) Easton, the whole crew was out there setting up and you had left. The whole crew? Yes. Dog Speaker 1 (11:53) poo. That was already cleaned. I had to clean up. I cleaned Speaker 2 (11:57) it up. So yes, it was. Speaker 1 (12:01) Lisa. Speaker 2 (12:03) I love you guys. This is excellent content. So you're welcome. Speaker 1 (12:07) She Speaker 3 (12:07) cleans up one turret. Thank you. Speaker 1 (12:10) And then she followed me around and goes, Easton, there's another one. Sorry, Speaker 3 (12:14) I feel badly. I feel like I need to back him up. Just from the weekend we had. Let me back him up. Speaker 1 (12:19) Hey, I was good on poop duty. Speaker 3 (12:21) You both Speaker 2 (12:22) did great. You both did excellent work yesterday. She was the one that told me there was dog poo outside. Yeah, I did. Speaker 3 (12:28) I was like, Easton needs to wake his ass up. Speaker 1 (12:31) I know. Speaker 3 (12:31) There's a turd where they're trying to set food. Just to let you know, Speaker 1 (12:33) as they set up, there were like three more just because Bernice was sitting there. She'd eat whatever would fall. She went into the rocks and just went again and then went and begged. So I had Speaker 3 (12:45) to Speaker 1 (12:45) crawl in the rocks and pick it up again. Speaker 3 (12:47) It's absolutely repulsive. Speaker 1 (12:49) Hey, those dogs protect us. I Speaker 3 (12:52) love Speaker 1 (12:52) those Speaker 2 (12:52) dogs. Speaker 1 (12:53) Those dogs are my everything. It's just Speaker 2 (12:55) poo. We pick it up. It's just poo. Speaker 1 (12:58) It's just poo. We pick it up barehanded, put it in the toilet, and flush it. Speaker 2 (13:01) Oh, my God. No, you know what broke my heart, though? When I walked out yesterday and there was a dead possum right in front of our... Niecy. Speaker 1 (13:10) No, no, no, no, no. It was out in front of the gate. I think it fell out of the... It fell out of the tree? I think it fell out of the palm tree like 30 feet. And Speaker 2 (13:17) it was so Speaker 1 (13:17) sad. Because it didn't look... How big was Speaker 3 (13:19) it? It was a baby. Can Speaker 1 (13:21) I be honest, Lauren? What? I think it was the one that was climbing out of the pool. Sad. Because it didn't look like he got hit by a car. There's like no blood anywhere. So it looks like he just hit and just died. Oh Speaker 3 (13:32) my Speaker 1 (13:32) God, I Speaker 3 (13:32) can't. We should build a trampoline around. Speaker 1 (13:35) Well, then where do I park? If I was there, it could have hit my car and survived. Well, Speaker 2 (13:39) last year, Speaker 3 (13:39) the squirrel fell Speaker 1 (13:40) out of the train. That was a couple years ago. Speaker 3 (13:42) I'm wondering if I can call the yard people and have them, but then how will they get past it? Speaker 1 (13:47) No, no, no, no. Like this. Here's the stump. And then you leave like a little gap. Like that, and then the net, so they can crawl through. But then if they fall, they hit the net. Speaker 3 (13:55) They Speaker 1 (13:55) hit Speaker 3 (13:56) the net. I'm going to have them build that. And then slip through. Yeah. I'm going to have them build that. Speaker 1 (14:00) We have Speaker 3 (14:02) seven Speaker 2 (14:02) palm trees. You can do it on all seven. I Speaker 1 (14:04) think we just let nature and Mother Nature do its thing. Here's how I look at it. We've lived here for three years. Yeah. Two dead animals? That's not a bad go. An animal a Speaker 3 (14:18) year. Oh God, I can't even talk about it. An animal Speaker 1 (14:20) a year. So sad. Speaker 3 (14:21) How'd Speaker 1 (14:22) you Speaker 3
