Speaker 2 (0:00) This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Hello, gorgeous. It's Lala Kent. Welcome to Untraditionally Lala. Speaker 2 (0:12) Hello, gorgeous. Welcome back to Untraditionally Lala. I am here with my gorgeous mother. Hello, mother. Hello, Speaker 8 (0:18) hello, Speaker 2 (0:18) hello. You got a little blanky today. I do. Speaker 8 (0:20) I Speaker 2 (0:20) get chilly in here. It's because you're skin and bone. Speaker 8 (0:23) Well, I'm trying to put weight on. I brought my almonds. Speaker 2 (0:26) Tell my friends why you're eating almonds. Speaker 8 (0:30) Because they have dopamine. Sun gives you dopamine, almonds, beets, oatmeal. Speaker 1 (0:36) Vapes. No, Speaker 8 (0:38) I'm not doing a vape. But anyway. So I'm on a dopamine diet. Diet Coke? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Speaker 2 (0:43) Aspartame. Speaker 8 (0:44) Aspartame. So I'm on a dopamine diet. Speaker 2 (0:46) You guys, I walked out yesterday. Actually, I didn't walk out. It was early in the morning. And I look outside and my mom's out there with a hat over her face. And she was just laying there. And I was like, this is so not like my mom to be outside. At 7 o'clock? With her PJs on. I'm like, what is she doing? And I go out and I'm like, what are you doing out here? I'm getting dopamine from the sun. Yesterday's the first day I didn't have a headache. Speaker 1 (1:14) She's chasing that day every day. Speaker 2 (1:17) Well, good. I love it. I love that you have your blankie. I love that you're eating almonds. Hello, TT. Speaker 1 (1:22) I'm back. I Speaker 2 (1:23) know. And you've got a girl at the house. Did mom tell you about my spiral yesterday? No. Speaker 1 (1:29) No. What'd you spiral about? Speaker 2 (1:31) Let's not talk about it today. Speaker 1 (1:32) What was it? No, Speaker 2 (1:34) we'll talk about Speaker 1 (1:34) it. Speaker 2 (1:34) Was it about me? Yeah. Speaker 1 (1:37) What, Lisa? Speaker 8 (1:39) I'm not getting involved. We'll talk about that. No, this is the safe place. Speaker 2 (1:44) This Speaker 1 (1:45) is the safe place. No, Speaker 2 (1:47) no, no. We'll do it next week. My spiral. Speaker 1 (1:51) Why? Speaker 2 (1:52) Because it just doesn't need to be talked about right now. We can talk about it tomorrow. Speaker 1 (1:57) Well, now I'm not good. I'm uneasy. I'm on edge. No, no, no. Speaker 2 (2:03) There's nothing to be uneasy about. That's for sure. Look at my mom when she's looking at the ceiling. Speaker 1 (2:08) No, it isn't good. I can tell the energy is not good about your spiral. Just come on. No, Speaker 2 (2:15) there's a lot going on with me mentally. We had a therapist on. It was hardly a mental Speaker 8 (2:22) breakdown. In the middle of the Beverly Glen Deli. Speaker 2 (2:26) It is true. Speaker 8 (2:27) I didn't have a mental breakdown. Why? Because I didn't go? I slammed the table Speaker 2 (2:29) and it like shook and everyone looked over and I was like, am I going fucking insane? And my mom was looking at me and she's like, you're seen and you're heard. You're seen and you're heard. And so it says like, pancake, pancake, mama. Speaker 8 (2:47) No. Sosa was worried like she was trying to make you feel better. Speaker 2 (2:51) Well, yeah. Once I started sobbing, she looked at me. I love you, mama. Speaker 1 (2:54) Sobbing? What did I miss at the Glen? A lot. Speaker 2 (2:59) A lot. Anyway, welcome back from Ohio. Speaker 8 (3:03) We had the best time. Did Speaker 2 (3:05) you? Speaker 8 (3:05) Yeah. I Speaker 2 (3:06) heard you guys weren't in a great area. Speaker 1 (3:09) Well, I don't know Ohio well, but from where we were to where we went, very different. But I loved it. All of it. They Speaker 2 (3:20) literally stayed on the street that I told them don't stay on. Here's the thing. Speaker 1 (3:24) I Speaker 2 (3:24) think they heard stay on the street rather than stay away from the street. I Speaker 1 (3:28) know why we stayed there. Speaker 2 (3:29) Why? Speaker 1 (3:30) Because it had a gym and a sauna for Joe. Speaker 2 (3:33) And a hot tub. Speaker 1 (3:34) And a hot Speaker 2 (3:34) tub. Oh, Speaker 1 (3:35) well, just Speaker 2 (3:35) sign me up. Speaker 1 (3:36) So that's why I think we picked that one. And it was a very cute house. Cute house. Like eight minutes away from the ballpark. Speaker 2 (3:43) Oh, convenient. Love it. Speaker 1 (3:44) Which we didn't win. Speaker 2 (3:45) You guys got pretty far though, didn't you? We got Speaker 1 (3:48) pretty, well, we did okay. I don't even know. We lost, so I don't care what place we took. If it ain't first, you're last. Speaker 8 (3:55) No, the problem was is it kept getting rained out. Oh, yeah. We had Speaker 1 (3:59) an hour and a half rain delay on our first game. Speaker 2 (4:05) It's hard to get up and after. Your gay softball league is the equivalent to the San Antonio Spurs in this sense. They make it all the way to the very end, but halftime was not their friend. They lost their teams that go into the locker room for halftime and get like shushed up. Like the Utes. Yes. They're a Speaker 1 (4:30) second half team, baby. Speaker 2 (4:31) Second half. I love a second half team, baby. You guys are the San Antonio Spurs. You lose it when there's Speaker 1 (4:38) a Speaker 2 (4:38) break. You don't keep the momentum. Something to look into. Well, and Speaker 8 (4:42) minor detail, no pitcher. Speaker 1 (4:45) Yeah, just to let everyone know. Paul, I'm talking to you. Paul was our pitcher. He got us to the World Series, but he played with his other team that's 50 and older because he promised he would. So we didn't really have a pitcher. So we were kind of shit out of luck. So Speaker 8 (5:03) they were walking people. Yeah, we Speaker 1 (5:04) walked. Like six people that you Speaker 8 (5:06) walked. Speaker 1 (5:06) Yeah, we walked people home. But you can't get angry. Well, that's why you lost if you're taking Speaker 2 (5:11) people home before the game's over. You know what? Our Speaker 1 (5:13) pitchers did amazing for the. No, they did. Yeah, for the pressure you're under and things like that. I couldn't have done it. Speaker 2 (5:19) And Speaker 1 (5:19) not being a pitcher. I was just sitting on third base thinking. Pitcher seems like the hardest job on the planet. Yeah. Speaker 2 (5:23) Yeah. And then you look at people like Shohei Otani who just Speaker 1 (5:27) fucking Speaker 2 (5:28) crush it. I Speaker 1 (5:29) don't know. I feel like they black out during the game. And then they're like, how'd you do? They're like, I don't know. They're Speaker 2 (5:33) people who thrive under pressure, though. I crack. Speaker 1 (5:35) Oh, I don't like it. A lot of fun places. We went to Yellow Springs. Yeah. Where Dave Chappelle, like that's where all of his comedy stores are. That's Speaker 2 (5:46) where Speaker 1 (5:46) he lives. Speaker 2 (5:47) Great. I Speaker 1 (5:48) know. We saw the cornfield, right? Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 (5:52) Like actual frog in my throat. Speaker 1 (5:54) Well, it's called the cornfield. Speaker 2 (5:55) I feel the same way. What's with that? I don't know. You Speaker 1 (5:58) feel what? Speaker 2 (5:59) I'm a little putty Speaker 1 (5:59) egg. Speaker 2 (5:59) Got little frogs in Speaker 8 (6:00) my throat. Speaker 1 (6:02) Something's in the air. Speaker 2 (6:03) Something is in the air. Because I Speaker 1 (6:04) had little frogs in my throat. That's why I needed my water. Speaker 2 (6:07) It's the humidity. Speaker 1 (6:08) It's something. Speaker 2 (6:09) It's something. It's the big El Nino. The Speaker 1 (6:12) big El Nino. It's Speaker 2 (6:13) coming. Speaker 1 (6:14) What was I saying? Speaker 8 (6:18) We were talking about the cornfield. Oh, yeah. Cornfield. And then Speaker 2 (6:22) you saw the fire show. What was it? Oh, we saw the Blue Angels. Oh Speaker 1 (6:28) my Speaker 2 (6:28) gosh, Speaker 8 (6:28) the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels Air Show. Was it life changing? It was honestly Speaker 1 (6:33) nuts. Speaker 8 (6:35) We Speaker 1 (6:36) went to Speaker 8 (6:36) Cleveland for Speaker 1 (6:37) the day. We went to Cleveland for the day. Rented a car, drove to Cleveland. I Speaker 2 (6:41) love that. I know. Had brunch Speaker 1 (6:43) at Summer House. Not the show. Not the show. Obviously. Speaker 2 (6:49) Good. I love that. It was Speaker 1 (6:51) amazing. They Speaker 2 (6:52) got home after nine days. I have a different, I have a newfound respect and love for what the two of you put into the household. You're fucking damn right. Here's the thing. Let me tell you. Could I handle it? No. Yes and no. Emotionally, there was a day that I fucking broke Speaker 8 (7:12) on the Speaker 2 (7:13) show. Speaker 8 (7:13) Well, Amber said you were Rain Man. Speaker 2 (7:15) Oh, I was Rain Man. Yeah. Over and over again. I really need my family to be home. Yeah, I was. I told you that, I think. Yeah. But tell us why. Speaker 1 (7:25) For the help or the missing? Or the both. No, no, Speaker 2 (7:30) no. I think the appreciation came from the... Little things that are actually huge things, like not having to figure out how I can be home to swoop Sosa and get Ocean to where she needs to be on time. I prefer to have like a pretty nice buffer of time in between things so that you're not in panic. Speaker 1 (7:52) Well, you need to Speaker 2 (7:52) living in LA. Yeah. So that part was just like, oh, wow. These things that seem very small are actually massive. Speaker 2 (8:03) But the emotional aspect was like, yeah, I missed you guys a lot. Speaker 1 (8:06) I won't lie to you. I missed you guys very much so. You Speaker 2 (8:11) did? Speaker 1 (8:11) Yes. Couldn't you tell? I was calling you constantly. Speaker 2 (8:14) See, mom isn't like that. Mom, I'm like, where are you? I'm in the moment. I'm in the Speaker 1 (8:19) moment, Speaker 8 (8:20) girl. Speaker 1 (8:20) Can I talk to mom? You guys aren't. No, get the fuck out of here. Mom, you're not in the moment. So Speaker 2 (8:25) I'm in the Speaker 1 (8:25) moment. I don't have Speaker 2 (8:26) time to miss my children? Speaker 1 (8:29) Can I speak for mother? That's true though. Speaker 2 (8:31) She's the bitch that leaves her kid two weeks after she gives birth to go to Hawaii for two weeks and doesn't even think a thing about it and extends the trip. I could never. No, but Speaker 8 (8:40) I will talk for mom. I think it was six weeks. Speaker 2 (8:42) Oh, Speaker 8 (8:43) big fucking Speaker 1 (8:44) whoop. Jesus Christ. Speaker 2 (8:46) Oh, totally fine then. But I will speak for mom. Mom Speaker 1 (8:50) missed you and would bring up the kids, but she was very into her. exercises in the morning. She was making sure she was eating. So I think mom is consumed with feeling good throughout the day and not what everyone else is doing right now, which is good. I'm okay with that. Speaker 2 (9:06) I'm totally okay with that. Janet did say, I talked to my mom, Claudia, and Claudia said, Marin or Lala, Easton and Lisa. Speaker 8 (9:20) Talk a lot. I know she was so surprised. She would ask me if I called you or you called me and I go, she called me. Well, yeah. Speaker 1 (9:29) You guys don't know that, that we fucking talk a lot. Speaker 2 (9:33) Well, I know that, but it's always when other people are in the mix. We were talking to Speaker 1 (9:36) Claudia and Claudia was like, they know where to find me. If I don't talk to them, if they don't call me, I don't talk to them. I was like, I have to call. If you're not calling me, what are you doing? Calling you. Speaker 2 (9:46) No, when you guys lived in Utah, it was like insane. The amount of times. My Speaker 1 (9:51) favorite thing is when you guys aren't home, honestly, is waiting for that like nine o'clock or eight o'clock call from you guys, like in the morning for FaceTime when we're not together. Makes my day. Speaker 8 (10:00) Yeah, yeah. Well, I missed you all too. Give me some credit. I missed you a lot. Give me some credit. Is that what you said? I missed you a lot. Give me some missing credits. I missed you too. You're getting all the credit. Speaker 2 (10:12) We love you, mom. You're the greatest. Thank you. And you're thriving. We love to see it. Thank you. The Speaker 8 (10:17) dopamine Speaker 2 (10:17) is alive and well in the brain. Speaker 1 (10:19) But we do need to get your arms good so you can start patting yourself
