I am unashamed. What about you? Welcome back to Unashamed. I've got to go when I leave here today to the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana. This has her six month checkup. You have to go down and see the cancer doctor every six months. So just as a follow-up, but it's funny because my grandkids, they're going with us because they're going back and forth because we're going back and forth because we're going back and forth. were on to Gulf shores from there. And so I had this shuttle service running this summer taking my grandkids back and forth. But it's funny because I said, are you all excited about going to New Orleans? And they're like, yeah, because the last time we were there, we were walking our hotel. I try to get a hotel close to what we got to do so I could really just get out of there as fast as I can. New Orleans is, and I can't. But I was going to say this surprisingly the last time I was in New Orleans at whatever game what we were down there watching the game I can't remember what who it was I saw there was a lot of street preachers yeah now granted some of them might have been under the influence and I'm not sure it was what their message was well yeah but I just thought okay it's something it's something at least it's something It's funny the things that make their mark though so the last time we were down for this same thing and it was it was one of the summer visits because there's always one in the winter one in the summer and I pretty much have it mapped out where I don't you know try not because you can't it's hard to get your car out that the parking down there's terrible and it cost a fortune it's like $50 a night to park. anyway, even at a hotel. And so you don't have to get your car every time you go somewhere. So I try to get within walking distance. So we're walking past and there's quite a few homeless people in New Orleans and someone had defecated, you know, right there on the street, you know, in two or three different places, you know, it was like these little alcoves that were meant to be like something good to look at, but someone had decided that was a bathroom. So, Saves, I was like, she said, I don't, I don't like to go to New Orleans. I said, yeah, I know, you know, we got to go for ma'am's appointment. She said, I mean, they just poop on the street, Pat. And I said, well, unfortunately, in America, that's all the major cities, that's we're seeing a lot of that. So, you know, but it's gotten worse, I think, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, you to a saint's game and I was just like, it's the smell. And I depicted it as just vomit because a lot of people are getting drunk. And you can't get rid of that smell. And you know I have a high sense of smell. And which reminds me of a funny story I should have told about little man. Look, because you get I get so frustrated. In the last podcast I was talking about some of the conversations without getting personal because I'm not trying to throw people under the bus. But it does get frustrating sometimes when you're trying to help someone and they come to you and they're just being delusional about their current state of affairs. And it's very, very frustrating. But I thought this four-year-old dropped a line the other night that I thought if a four-year-old can get this, and I'll set the scene up. He, and I told this story on a previous podcast, couple of podcast ago about he came to what he calls my wife Lulu it's like Lulu I want to clean my room and he was look four year olds they want attention they want you to say great job buddy and look when I was young I used to do that it reminded me of I would clean the whole house and because my parents for once because they that was before Jesus they would say great job. That's all I did it for, which I didn't know that at the time, you know. But I just wanted you want to impress people. So she let him clean his room, which was an epic fail, because he took that to me, because from his perspective, I'm going to rearrange the furniture, which became dangerous, and it just everything ended up in the middle of the room in a big pile, which is the opposite of cleaning up your room. Yeah. So then you, yeah. But during that, this happened, which is why you thought maybe he will clean up his room. You wanted to see. So she's like, I got supper and we had his favorite thing to eat, which is her spaghetti, which is from my mom's recipe. So I don't want you to think there's just some noodles and dump some sauce on it. This is a two hour project, it's the greatest spaghetti on earth. Sorry. Where did the spaghetti originate from? Italy? Italy. and went way beyond. You said my dad now. I mean pizzas and sh- Yeah and spaghetti. But I mean my parents they figured out how to make a pot of spaghetti would you agree? Oh it's it's so it's his favorite thing and he's like I don't have time I gotta clean that ring and I'm like no. He was going to stop and eat and so he was frustrated because Lulu was making him eat the spaghetti you know and I'm like no And so then all of a sudden he takes a bite and he said the smell got me in and he said and he said the smell got me in and he said and when I tasted that first bite because she said oh you now you want to eat the spaghetti and he was like yeah and so then he launched into this he's four years old he said the smell got me in and when I ate the first bite my heart told my mind this is so good And we both looked at each other and I thought, did he just say my heart told my mind, this is good? I thought, that is a Jesus statement. He wants your heart to tell your mind, this is good, make good decisions. That's great theology. That's four-year-old theology, that was fantastic. So that's why I should have told that part of the story. we've done something good for this kid. He's probably watching the Hillsdale episodes and he's a he's a Augustine guy now that's what he got that for him for sure. I just thought what I think for a four-year-old to come out of his mouth but then fast forward two hours when we go up after we heard a loud crash I thought all right we got to get back to work because we have a big pile of rubble. Then you're like yeah that was a moment but it was just a moment. Yeah so it was a moment. steps forward and then about three back. So here we go. But anyway. Well, you know, I thought when you said I thought well what about the that verse that says we have the aroma of Christ and so the smell. Oh, the smell gets us in. That's it. We taste and see that the Lord is good and the heart tells the mind this is good. Oh, that is the verse. Where is that? Second Corinthians too. First Corinthians too. We need to read that. God always leads us in try. 14 thanks to be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession. There's your kingdom analogy. Yep. We've won because he won in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. So when people are around us it should be the exact opposite smell of Bourbon Street. Look I love Louisiana, I love New Orleans. What's funny is they have some of the best food in the world. It is. It's amazing. So you get inside that restaurant, there's a good smell. You walk outside. Here's the deal, Al. Greatest food in the world. You eat the food. But when you're on Bourbon Street, people drink a lot of bourbon. And they drink too much. And then they throw up this wonderful food and then a smell, an aroma forms. When now, we're, we just shifted over to 1. or is it second Peter where he said second Peter two where he said the sow returns to its vomit. Oh yeah this is the dog returns the sow returns to the mud the dog returns to eat in his own vomit. Yeah. There's there's your I've always thought when dogs did that I'm like yep there it is it's in the Bible so don't be offended us talking about this this is biblical. aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing to the one we are the smell of death because it us saying we have eternal life the gift of eternal life and sharing that message of being positive about it it we should have said this on the last podcast that's why people persecute you but to them they're like well I don't think I'm gonna make it yeah and it's the smell of death and to the other's the of life. I feel like I should do a perfume commercial, Maddie, about Jesus. You know how they do, because these perfume commercials, have you ever seen one? Oh yeah, they're always weird. And they're so, the cinematography is amazing. Yeah, they're out in the wilderness. It's like we're in some kind of cyborg AI. What are the things on Star Trek? Well, you enter the portal thing. where you're it like creates the holiday the holiday and it and you're like what is this about because they're holding it to the end and it's always a big star like a big movie story and then it's like perfume by Varaji or whoever a variety I don't even know that's a new designer that's a new designer maddy veragi actually skyrocket over the last several years, which is why I'm excited to tell you about CHM Christian Healthcare Ministries. If you're an American, you may be one of the millions buried under medical debt or trying to afford insurance that just keeps getting pricier. You know, on average, out the average person spends 805 a month for a single person to be covered. Leeson, they paid even more than that being self-employed. Oh, yeah. And even with health insurance, your options can be limited. Sometimes it keeps you from choosing the best doctor that you actually need the hospitals that you actually need the hospitals, the hospitals, the hospitals, the hospitals that you, the hospitals that you, the hospitals that you, the hospitals Christian health care ministries offers a more biblical and affordable solution and here's why because CHM is not health insurance it's actually the original health-cost sharing ministry where Christians share the burden of eligible medical bills together. Al you guys have shared your medical burdens and I remember you guys getting checks in the mail from other believers because you guys were in a bind whenever at least that breast cancer. And not only checks that but even notes of encouragement and prayer I gotta say it's one of the most first century like things we've experienced we've experienced in our Christian because you knew other people are pulling together for you. Oh, this is very much like the book of acts. And by the way, these guys have been nationally endorsed on the Ramsey show. Listen, since 1981, CHM has satisfied 100% of every eligible medical bill received. So programs they start as low as 115 bucks a month with added protection for catastrophic medical events. So see why believers across the nation are better off with CHM. I'm a member. You two can get started today by visiting C.H ministry.M. dot org slash unashame that's c. h ministries dot org slash unashame. But I feel like we are to have the greatest commercial for the fragrance of life in Jesus. This is good. And who is equal to such a task? And then it says his point was unlike so many we do not pedal the word of God for profit. This goes with James. money. On the contrary, in Christ, we speak before God with sincerity like men sent from God. Yeah. Because I thought about this when I brought up the idea of the debar about the words that you speak, meaning action. It's a, it's more than words. It accompanies itself with action. Right. Which is Jesus in. human form, the word of God that was in the cloud, in the fire, speaking creation, you know, on the mountains through the law, this is Jesus there all along becoming a human body person. And because think about another verse that says just what this said, I mean that's just popped in my head. When you speak, I might have to find this. We're going by the seat of our pants here today. Where does it say when you speak, you speak the very oracles of God. Where is that at? Verse 11, listen to this. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words or that word is oracles of God. If any one speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words or that word is oracles of God. If that word, and then, here's your action, if anyone serves, with the strength God provides so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus. What the subtle subtle thing I'm trying to get across here is we speak half the things we say, look, this convicts me when I start thinking about this because we are in a family of embellishers and nonsensical speech. True, it's true,
