The first one is Elizabeth Chambers. She is the owner of Bird Bakery and the host of the show Toxic on ID. HBO, Max and Hulu, a mom of two children divorced after being married to Armie Hammer for 10 years. Oh, scandal. Oh, yeah. And now she's the new co-host of the podcast Dash. Speaker 6 (3:27) We also have Marissa Hermer. Marissa Hermer is a divorced mother of three children and three dogs. But you may recognize her from the TV show Ladies of London. She also owns a restaurant in Palm Springs and now a co-host of her own podcast, The Dash. So Marissa and Elizabeth started a podcast, I believe, in August. It's called The Dash. First of all, congratulations on the new podcast, The Dash. Thank you. Yeah, Elizabeth, you were the one who asked Marissa to do it with you. How did this, how'd you guys become Speaker 2 (4:19) friends? We've been friends for almost 10 years. We became friends when Marissa literally was just like the most like refreshing breath of, air ever she was just like unapologetically herself I love her so much I actually did low-key judge her because she was so herself for a minute and then I was like wait actually no I've just been bored with people in LA I Speaker 4 (4:43) also had a bottle of champagne at this point so I really like I get more comfortable with myself the more yeah and I think Elizabeth came in at like four glasses in. So like I was real. Speaker 6 (4:54) So you were at your best. Speaker 2 (4:56) I was at my best. I was at my best. She was peak Marissa. Elizabeth, Speaker 6 (4:59) did you watch her on Ladies of London? Speaker 2 (5:02) Do you know what? I've never, I never did. And I, I did actually, I told you, but I, but like recently I did go back and watch an episode or two and I was like, you're so likable. Like who's that likable on reality TV. And it's just because. that's her. And I don't think you like let games get in your head. Like, I don't know what happened the rest of the season, but I was just like, that's my Morris. Speaker 6 (5:26) Elizabeth, have you ever done a reality show? Speaker 2 (5:28) Oh, I did. I did. Well, I wasn't supposed to be, it was supposed to be like a docuseries about opening bird bakery and Cayman islands. And that was supposed to be that. And then it switched because the production company left and that switched networks. And it became like a thing where they were like casting people and it became something totally different. But listen, I was in the Cayman Islands and I know how to do two things in this life. And that's restaurants and television. And I that was all I knew how to do there. And I wanted to say you're going to Speaker 8 (5:56) make the most of this right now. Speaker 2 (5:57) Totally. Totally. I think it's tricky to manipulate, like to maneuver when, you know, you're on that. Like, I don't know. I just had when I saw you, Marissa, I was like, how is she just so her authentic self and so likable on a. reality show where people love drama. Yeah, Speaker 8 (6:13) give me some tips, please. Tamara needs all the tips. Speaker 4 (6:17) Honestly, I... Speaker 4 (6:21) I don't have any tips. It was really when I did bump into drama, which I did on a few occasions, it like ripped my heart and soul out. Like I couldn't sleep at night. It was just, it was so challenging, but that's not who I am naturally. But I think, I mean, I just had, I just had Tracy over for dinner and Juliet over for dinner. Juliet said she just did your show. Speaker 4 (6:46) Two. So I had the two of them over for dinner, a little like celebratory, you know, congratulations on your new shows. And they are preparing for battle every day. Because I think also when I did it, I hadn't really watched a lot of reality television. So I didn't know that's what I was supposed to do. I think I actually was poor on reality television because... You need to really put on your battle armor every day and go fight. That makes for interesting television. So I'm glad there were some sort of fighter dramatic women on my show. Otherwise, it would have been a total flop. But, you know, you do need to prepare for battle and be honesty and pick every fight and create drama that you wouldn't really do, you know, maybe around a normal dinner table. And it's a lot of work. It's hard. You know, I know Juliet, who has real friendships in that cast. Like Juliet Speaker 8 (7:36) A. Speaker 4 (7:37) Yeah. And then some of these friendships, you know, are totally grenaded. And it's really challenging for her. You know, it's a different. It's a lot. It takes a lot out of you. Speaker 6 (7:49) Do you know anybody else on The Real Housewives of London other than Juliet? I know Amanda. Speaker 8 (7:56) Oh, Speaker 6 (7:57) can Speaker 4 (7:57) you tell us a little bit about Amanda? Speaker 8 (7:59) I don't. Speaker 4 (8:00) Sorry. I shouldn't say I know Amanda in the same breath that I know Juliet. Don't say Speaker 8 (8:05) you're her best friend. She'll chew your ass out. Speaker 4 (8:09) I've met Amanda on a couple of occasions. Juliet is a sister to me. You know, we have been, when you do a reality show with someone, as you both know, you go to the moon with someone. So even if you fight, and I think it was season three, Juliet, between season two and three, we got into an enormous fight. We didn't speak for a couple of years. And it was heartbreaking for us and for our families and for our, you know, real life friends. Speaker 4 (8:37) But then we obviously came back together because she is a very dear friend. She was over at my house the other night when she was in town. I've heard of Amanda through Juliet often. So I whilst I've only met her on a couple of occasions, I don't know her intimately. I know her through Julia and they were real friends in the pandemic. Like I remember hearing all about Amanda and she hosted like. something for a man at our house and they were, they were very close friends. So to see some of the clips and to come out that, um, that wasn't the case was surprising. And let me tell you, as a friend of Juliet, if someone called me out on something, I would probably just be like, oh yeah, you're right. Like I'm not a confrontational person. I wouldn't pull out the receipts or the text messages or anything like that. Juliet will because she will make sure she's like this. She's got TV. No, she will. She will die on the hill. She's got to be right. Speaker 6 (9:32) Or yeah. Speaker 4 (9:33) So don't try and pull a fast one over, Juliet. Yeah. Speaker 6 (9:36) Well, let's switch it over to your podcast. So tell us about your podcast. I'm Speaker 2 (9:39) learning a lot. Let's actually stay here. Why don't we get London, though? It doesn't come at the same time. Speaker 6 (9:48) I asked one of the producers today, I said, are we going to get London? And he said, we don't know yet. So Bravo hasn't picked it up. So hopefully we got, we got the first season, but I just, the Speaker 8 (10:01) first season, but they would drop us two episodes at a time a week. Yeah. Okay. Speaker 2 (10:05) Well I'm invested now. I mean, Speaker 8 (10:06) go watch, Speaker 6 (10:07) go watch that. I Speaker 2 (10:08) needed exactly. Yeah. We can talk about Speaker 4 (10:12) our podcast. Basically what I'm talking about, like in one episode, which it hasn't dropped yet, which I'm feeling right now is how I swear I'm perimenopausal. And I'm so hot right now. I need to like take off my shirt. Like, I don't know. She does take off her Speaker 2 (10:26) shirt. This is what we love about Marissa is like, she got really hot and she's like, I just have to take my shirt off. And listen, she does. I always say she has the best boobs in Hollywood. Marissa has the best boobs in Hollywood. Speaker 4 (10:40) Call Dr. Tidebomb. Speaker 2 (10:41) You Speaker 4 (10:41) can have them too. Speaker 2 (10:42) And nine out of 10 women. Dr. Tidebomb. But Speaker 2 (10:52) like, don't we just love that girl that does not gatekeep? I just, I think that is everything that Marissa is and everything that our pod is, is that we don't gatekeep. We're going to put it all out there. Speaker 2 (11:05) She said she actually calls Dr. Titlebaum for like flu symptoms of her children. I have to remind her like your boob doctor is not like your GP. He always picks up Speaker 4 (11:15) because I've sent so many people to him. He has no boundaries. He Speaker 8 (11:18) always Speaker 4 (11:18) gets back to me immediately. He has no boundaries. That's a good thing. Speaker 8 (11:21) That's a good thing about that. Well, I also heard, I was listening to a clip from your podcast and I was laughing so hard because I think, Elizabeth, you were talking about how you went on a date with somebody and you... As you're going inside their house, you have to take your fake hair out and you leave it on like a bush or something outside the house. Speaker 2 (11:42) I mean, normally you put it in your purse, but like it was small. Small purse. I don't know. You know, that was a couple years ago when I first reentered society from the Cayman Islands. worried and now i'm just like you're good you get the weave and you get it all like i'm not tossing the weave anymore Speaker 6 (12:01) by you were you by any chance hiding out in the kingdom okay no Speaker 2 (12:05) not at all it's just as great because like i think paparazzi is actually illegal there um i wasn't hiding out i was actually living my best like just most incredible life. And you Speaker 6 (12:18) deserve. Speaker 2 (12:18) Yes. Yes. It was magical. It was like my, you know, you cocoon after trauma and then you just become a butterfly and it was cocoon and butterfly all at the same time. Um, it was pretty magical, but I did coming back to LA. I don't know why I felt like I couldn't have like two clip and extensions and while I was hooking up with a man now I'm like, They're all in. Feel it. Yeah. Enjoy it. I do think tossing the weave is a great euphemism for hooking up. And I think we should all integrate that into our work. I Speaker 8 (12:54) love Speaker 2 (12:54) that. I Speaker 8 (12:54) mean, Speaker 2 (12:54) imagine Speaker 8 (12:55) I have to do it and I have no hair. So like somebody's over, I have a full wig. And then it's like it's time for action. And then it's like, hold on. Speaker 8 (13:06) This is what you really got yourself into, buddy. Speaker 2 (13:08) Yeah, but thankfully, Teddy, your bone structure varies with the weight. Like you have everything. I mean, that's like you still are stunning. Speaker 6 (13:18) Teddy, you can be bald and you're fine. I think you're just right now going through that in-between stage where it's not that short and not that long. It's K plus eight. That Kate Gosselin look. Yeah. Now you just need some little Speaker 2 (13:30) - Speaker 6 (13:30) Still look beautiful. Now you guys have both been divorced for a couple of years now. Would you give Teddy any advice to navigate through her separation, co-parenting, dating? Speaker 4 (13:40) By the way, I can say I'm not yet divorced. I'm still going. I Speaker 6 (13:44) was Speaker 4 (13:44) going to say, Speaker 8 (13:45) Marissa and I know each other through our husbands. Yeah. Do tell. Can you call them husbands? Are they? Speaker 2 (13:52) Well, I Speaker 8 (13:54) call him my estranged husband. Speaker 2 (13:56) Formally known. Okay. Speaker 8 (13:58) Because we're still married, so it's. Speaker 4 (14:00) I could call it, yeah, estranged. Speaker 8 (14:03) I mean, it doesn't sound great. Speaker 4 (14:04) I Speaker 2 (14:05) think like, I don't think you should say like a strange you're formerly they're, they are part of formerly known as Marissa's husband. There you Speaker 6 (14:17) go. Speaker 4 (14:17) And what are you waiting Speaker 6 (14:19) for Marissa? Is it just taking a long time to divorce or is it stalled? Speaker 4 (14:22) Do you know what? In the, I wasn't, um, When we separated, there wasn't like a sense of urgency to get a divorce. I'm not looking to get remarried immediately, right? Maybe ever. Like I don't need to rush through this, nor did my soon to be ex-husband. And then also we do, we have three kids together too. And sort of life does happen, even though we wouldn't, you don't actually want it to. And divorce is also. a full-time job which teddy you are probably finding out as well with which elizabeth is well aware of and so and at the time we matt and i you know we also were working together as well so trying to do you know i think we were even yeah we were opening up a restaurant and it sort of just fell to the back burner for no reason now it's full speed ahead and you know lawyers and boring back Speaker 2 (15:15) and forth like i think it's so exhausting and teddy you know this it's like We want to be creating things and building things, right? Like you want to be, have your energy and your time go to upward momentum. And it's just, it's so annoying. Speaker 8 (15:30) Yeah, I know. People with me are like, why haven't you gone further into your divorce? Like, because before the cancer stuff, like I was like. pedal to the metal. Like I was like, I don't care how much money I spend. I'm done with this. And like, I was angry and then I got sick. And then it was like, everything was like, and they're like, we can't, she can't go to court right now. Like she's, she barely remembers what day it is. Like this isn't happening. And so now everything's just taken like a halt. And I'm like, you know, as long as the halt and we're getting along, it's fine. I just never want to feel like, I'm in a situation where I feel like stuck. Yeah. Speaker 4 (16:14) I'm Speaker 8 (16:14) in Speaker 4 (16:14) the exact, I'm in the exact same place, Teddy.
