Speaker 6 (0:00) This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Speaker 4 (0:06) Two Teas in a Pod with Teddy Mellencamp and Tamara Judge. Speaker 1 (0:20) Hi, guys. Welcome to another episode of Two Teas in a Pod with myself, Teddy Mellencamp and Tamara Judge. We are here recapping episode one of season seven of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. This Speaker 2 (0:34) was a sad Speaker 7 (0:35) one. I mean. Speaker 1 (0:39) First and foremost, to me, this was like, you know, a riveting episode. And I hope Mary gets nothing but love. Speaker 2 (0:46) Yes, she will. Speaker 1 (0:47) Of course. From everyone for being so vulnerable. Like, I can't imagine doing what she did, you know, like having to go through that and speak about it. And she just, you know, had so much grace and love. And I don't know. I just that's the first thing that I just think. Speaker 2 (1:05) Yeah, this was definitely heavy. And I had no idea that they had picked cameras up to film him, Robert Jr. released Speaker 1 (1:15) from jail. I didn't either. February 4th, they said that's when Robert Jr.'s release was from jail. And then Mary thanks her cousin, Big Joe, for picking him up after he was incarcerated for 86 days. Speaker 2 (1:26) Yeah. And then three weeks later is when he passed away. Wasn't sure that if, you know, we were going to see Robert Sr., but. He was in the trailer. So I guess he will be filming this season. I Speaker 1 (1:40) mean, that's probably because Mary really needs Speaker 7 (1:42) the Speaker 1 (1:42) support. Speaker 2 (1:43) Yeah. And I'm glad he's there for her. Speaker 1 (1:45) I am too. I can't imagine how hard it must be. Speaker 2 (1:49) Oh, it was just so heartbreaking. And then, you know, we get to see the girls gather at Angie Kay's house following the news. As Angie says, Mary would want them to come together in peace and they bring flowers and they have food and they talk about Robert Jr., how he loved clothes and fashion. He wanted to be a fashion designer. And I think it was Angie said that he made some nice comments about Elektra's eyes or something like that. Yeah. Kind of talking about stuff that they know about him. Speaker 1 (2:23) Yeah. And then they and then they kind of all like brought it back. Like it's saying Meredith says as a mother, you never think that you're going to live longer than your kid. No, that definitely hit me hard. I was like, oh, my gosh. Yeah. Speaker 2 (2:35) Like, I Speaker 1 (2:35) can't even imagine. Lisa reveals Mary told her that the group she's got is all she has right now. I know that gave me chills. Yeah. And then. Speaker 1 (2:48) Heather, Speaker 7 (2:49) this Speaker 1 (2:50) is where it's just going to get me because we're watching two shows at once. Heather suggests that the ladies use this moment to no longer take each other for granted. Then my head pans to ultimate girl's trip. I know. I can't compartmentalize. Do Speaker 2 (3:05) you? To me, it kind of looks like every time Heather talks, she's kind of looking for her next moment or, you know, audition. She could be a narrator for the group or something. It's just doesn't land. Now, Whitney takes this time, which I thought it wasn't probably the right time to apologize. And it's just like, can you read between the lines? This isn't about you or your feelings. This is about Robert Jr. and Mary and her family. And I just went, oh, well, Speaker 1 (3:39) I think he wants to make it very clear that she's sober this season. Speaker 2 (3:42) Yeah, she actually reached out to me during the season before her cast trip and wanted some Vena seltzer. So I shipped them over to her. Speaker 1 (3:50) Oh, wow. I felt like this was obviously a scene that needed to happen. I felt like the girls were doing everything they can not to rip each other's hair out and start fighting there. Speaker 2 (4:03) Yeah, yeah, it was it was hard. It's like. Speaker 2 (4:08) It's easy to sit outside and judge, like, what would you do if you were in this group right now? Because it's such a heavy situation. Like, you're not allowed to laugh. You're not allowed to smile. Like, what are you supposed to do? Like, Angie joking with Lisa about menopausal stuff. And Lisa making it quite clear that she's still on her period. Yeah. So it's like, do you talk about that stuff? Should you not? Like, it's just, it's just Speaker 1 (4:31) really hard. And I, especially when you're filming a show and you're trying to be. Your heart is broken for that person, but you're also like, I can't make this about me. This isn't about me. This is about them. I agree. Yeah. Speaker 2 (4:47) Yeah. And then there's Lisa with her grilled cheese. We see her eating two grilled cheese this episode. One at home she made with goat cheese, which doesn't sound great to me. Goat cheese. You like goat cheese? No. Goat cheese. And then why was she Speaker 7 (5:01) shredding the cheese to then put it into the... She was shredding mozzarella to then heat it up. I thought she said it was goat cheese. No, the goat cheese she was already putting on like it was like butter. Butter. Speaker 2 (5:14) Yeah, that was the goat cheese part. Did she mix? Yeah, she mixed the Speaker 7 (5:18) cheese. Speaker 2 (5:18) Oh, she mixed it. Oh, that might not be too bad. I just think like I don't mind goat cheese. I'd rather have it than blue cheese. But yeah, that's quite a way to make grilled Speaker 1 (5:28) cheese. Yeah, but in this moment, they're talking about Henry says he's not dating girls. He's just kissing them. How's he 21 already? Speaker 7 (5:38) How did I not know that he was Baby Gorgeous? Oh, I didn't Speaker 2 (5:42) know that either. I Speaker 7 (5:43) didn't know that he was the reference to Baby Gorgeous. I Speaker 2 (5:46) had no idea. Jack is 21 years old now. I had no idea he was that old. Speaker 7 (5:54) I didn't either. But I thought this was like a nice scene. We see all the boys together. We see them working together as a family to get it done. They're kind of... teasing Lisa, but they're still being nice to her. Speaker 2 (6:08) How about when John apologized to Lisa for being a safe space for her last year, for not being a safe space for her last Speaker 1 (6:15) year? How many times do you think Lisa had to remind John to do that before they filmed that scene? Speaker 7 (6:22) That. I'm sorry. How many times? Like, how many times did you have to tell Eddie? OK, you're going to get choked up. I Speaker 2 (6:32) actually wanted Eddie to watch that scene because I felt like. You know, these are what other guys are doing on the house because he doesn't really watch the house by shows. I'm like, guys do get involved a little bit. But I forgot they were having some problems last year. Speaker 7 (6:48) Well, remember, the psychic said something and then he said, Speaker 1 (6:52) maybe you weren't paying attention to me. And then they got in that they did a little flashback of them fighting at that tall table. And yeah. And Speaker 2 (6:59) then he said, like, he's not really good at. emotions and expressing himself. And he said he actually felt like a little jealous because a lot of things in his life were falling apart. I think like business wise and her, she was, you know, she's doing the Wendy's commercial. She got housewives. She got Vita tequila. Speaker 1 (7:17) I mean, I think everything he said makes complete sense and happens in relationships. I just think the fact that that we're supposed to believe that was the first time he apologized for it. is bananas. Maybe you might be right on that. Speaker 7 (7:31) Like you've only seen him cry twice in your life. And this is one of them. Hmm. Speaker 1 (7:38) Well, he really Speaker 7 (7:38) he really like put Tabasco sauce in his eyes or something like I don't know how he did it. But I did feel like they were Speaker 1 (7:46) closer this season. Yeah. Speaker 2 (7:48) I mean, it was a touching scene. I thought, you know, he acknowledged it. Did I need to see the next scene where she's talking with her friends about it? Speaker 7 (7:56) where she relives it and then she like puts her eyes it orders another Speaker 2 (8:02) grilled cheese sandwich yeah no not really um maybe it's Speaker 7 (8:06) the Speaker 2 (8:06) cheese that's making them cry saying Speaker 7 (8:12) Well, then we've got new buddies, Bronwyn and Whitney, meeting for pickleball. Okay. Speaker 2 (8:18) Could you imagine Speaker 7 (8:18) having the conversation that they're having while trying to play pickleball? Speaker 2 (8:22) No. No, but they look cute in their little outfits. I mean, I'm not surprised that they are, you know, close. They're both married to guys that are older than them. They both, I think, have a little bit of a wild side. Now, at this point, we don't. Whitney and her husband are still together, right? Yeah, they Speaker 1 (8:42) haven't told us that they're not. We heard in the press a while ago that they were also split, but we haven't actually seen that or confirmed it or anything. Now, did you see Speaker 2 (8:52) Bronwyn in her confessional where she was insinuating that maybe there was something a little bit more between her and Whitney? Do you really think they're into each other? I know why she was like this, and then she's Speaker 7 (9:03) like, ha, ha, ha, no, not really like this. Speaker 2 (9:05) Well, why would she even say that? Trying to be funny. I think she was trying to be Speaker 1 (9:09) funny. But then when she explained the final death of her marriage was when it was her 40th birthday and Todd didn't even acknowledge it. Well, last year Speaker 2 (9:22) she got a $10 million diamond necklace that she had to return. What Speaker 7 (9:28) was she expecting? But did he always have a place Speaker 1 (9:35) in New York? So he was always bi-coastal? I Speaker 2 (9:38) don't know. Didn't he go to New York last year or last season and somebody saw him looking at girls on his phone? Speaker 1 (9:46) Yeah, someone saw him looking at girls and then somebody said they also had a video of him kissing a girl. Oh, God, no, thank you. I mean, who's dying for Todd? Maybe Doreen? Speaker 2 (10:02) No. Speaker 3 (10:09) The World Cup is over, but if you caught the soccer bug and aren't sure what to do now, check out our podcast, Big Kick Energy. I'm speaking with more artists, policymakers, and performers like actor Stephen Root. I Speaker 5 (12:18) think for me to be any good or for any character act to be any good, you've got to put enough of yourself and your empathy for people in it. I'm a people watcher. You see that guy going down the street and go, yeah, I can use that. Speaker 8 (12:31) Open Igloo co-founder Alia Mohammed. Speaker 4 (12:33) I love staying on top of what is going on in our city, what is going on in city politics, what is on renters' minds, and taking all of that knowledge to build a platform that hopefully is going to make New York City better in the long run. And Speaker 8 (12:47) actress and singer Melissa Arrico. Speaker 4 (12:50) Partnership took on a whole other meaning when I started making my own work. It's like you with a great actress or actor. It was best to come out of your trailer full of life. and just face another person who's full of life and don't talk. Speaker 8 (13:05) Listen to Here's the Thing on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Dear honeys, this Speaker 4 (13:14) is goodbye. In February of 2024,
