Speaker 3 (0:00) Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear mama, happy birthday to you. You old broad, you made it to 82. Thank you so much. 82! Speaker 3 (0:18) And you've got another 20. You've got a good 20 left in you. Speaker 1 (0:22) Well, I hope God lets me hang around 20 Speaker 3 (0:24) more. I hope he does, too, because I'll be, Lord, I'd be 50 years old then. Oh, I know. Well, okay. If you still feel 50. We're the same age. It doesn't matter. Shut up. Speaker 1 (0:34) It doesn't matter. Speaker 3 (0:36) No, age is just a number. It's just a number because I feel good. Do you really? Yeah. Because, like, my next birthday, I'll be 40. Okay. I'm having a little bit of an issue with that. Did you have an issue with any of the years? Like in your decades, like, okay, when you were 20. Did you dread turning 25? No, I never Speaker 1 (0:58) thought about it. Speaker 3 (0:59) So you didn't say, oh, my God, I'm now 30. No. I should have already had this done by the time I was 30. Speaker 1 (1:05) No, I just took every day as a good day, and I tried to make the best of what I had and what I was planning on doing is raising my family and being a good wife and being what I needed. An Speaker 3 (1:17) excellent mother. Speaker 1 (1:18) That's exactly Speaker 3 (1:19) right. Speaker 1 (1:19) I don't think many Speaker 2 (1:19) people obsess over their age as much as you do. Oh, I don't obsess over it because nobody can get a real number. Speaker 1 (1:27) But it doesn't matter. Just get up and be the best you can be every day. And the days and the nights are going to roll on. I never thought about being 82. I would have. Speaker 3 (1:39) Well, I don't think about being 82 because. That's a long time off. That's a long time for me. But. 40 was a change for me. I was like, I cannot believe that I'm going to be 40. But Speaker 1 (1:53) you ought Speaker 3 (1:53) to Speaker 1 (1:53) think about how you've been blessed to get to be Speaker 3 (1:55) 40. Speaker 1 (1:56) Or 50 or whatever the number comes along. Like me, I am blessed. Speaker 2 (2:03) Yes. Blessed every day. Every day. Speaker 1 (2:05) Every day, I am blessed. A lot of people didn't get to live to be 82. Speaker 2 (2:10) And Speaker 1 (2:11) a lot of people that do, it's not in as good a shape as I'm in. Because now I still can function. Speaker 3 (2:18) Yeah, you do quite well, which gives me a lot of hope. I hope you get my genes. Well, I think I did. Well, I mean, I got my looks after my father Speaker 2 (2:30) and Speaker 1 (2:30) several Speaker 3 (2:31) other people in the industry. Okay. Speaker 3 (2:37) I do think that because y'all, you've always said and Daddy always said that I took more after you and your side. Nanny, you never blew your candles out. It's tripped all over your cake. You're messing your cake up. Speaker 1 (2:49) Oh, my. Let me get a good one. Let's find Speaker 3 (2:52) out if she's got another husband in the future. A husband Speaker 1 (2:54) is not even nothing I'm thinking about wishing for. Speaker 3 (2:57) Well, we'll know in a minute. Speaker 1 (3:03) No. No. Speaker 3 (3:04) No. Speaker 1 (3:04) They ain't no husband. They Speaker 3 (3:06) ain't no husband. Speaker 1 (3:07) No. Never, never. I'm not going to dysfunction Speaker 3 (3:10) my family. Speaker 1 (3:10) You're single for the next Speaker 3 (3:11) 20 years. Yeah, Speaker 1 (3:12) as long as I'm living. Speaker 3 (3:13) You ain't going to have another man. I'm like Speaker 1 (3:15) Dolly. I'm not going in that pearly gates with no other man. Speaker 3 (3:19) Speaking of Dolly. I can't believe it. We're sitting here celebrating 82 when Dolly left us at 80. Speaker 3 (3:28) Mama, you know that, I mean, our family has been distraught over this. I never thought she'd die. No. Speaker 1 (3:33) You know, she had so much energy, and she gave so much. Of all the years, I remember when she started. And I cannot, I just never thought about her getting old. Well, Speaker 2 (3:47) she Speaker 1 (3:47) never did. No, Speaker 2 (3:48) but she kept going. Like me. There was a video of her a long time ago. where she was answering questions from fans. And someone stood up and said, Dolly, how long did it take to do your hair? And she said, I don't know. I'm never there. Speaker 3 (4:02) But, you know, she always, you know, she was always so kind to us. So nice. I mean, no matter. And listen, I have been around her many times and she was always so lovely to me. And I got a message. Speaker 3 (4:20) Last week from someone in her camp that said, I just want you to know that Dolly loved you so much. She said, he said, I remember being on her tour bus and we were watching your show. And she said, you know, everyone needs a Todd in their life or their holler because she came from the holler. And she said, or their holler. And I just I wanted to cry because the last time I saw her. She was just so alive. Everything was so good. But I hadn't seen her since since Carl since before Carl died. And it has been I mean, that has been Chloe. I mean, you know, Chloe worships. Yeah. Speaker 1 (5:01) And Speaker 3 (5:02) so it was hard on Chloe. Then Chloe's one that's very stoic. She holds everything inside. She doesn't talk about her emotions. But that was a big setback for her. Speaker 1 (5:14) Well, you just don't think you know that everyone's gonna die some time another But you when you see him out here jumping around on stage and touring and doing things You just don't think about him being old And you know what? I guess you just as old age is Speaker 3 (5:32) not what took her out of here. It was cancer so, you know It's sad because how many people have to die of cancer before we, as this government, can come out and say, we've got a cure. We can cure cancer. But you don't want to because there's Speaker 2 (5:50) too Speaker 3 (5:50) much Speaker 2 (5:50) money. But Speaker 3 (5:50) because of pharmaceutical companies, you don't Speaker 2 (5:51) want Speaker 3 (5:51) to do that. Speaker 2 (5:52) They make so much money off those treatments. And Speaker 3 (5:54) now Speaker 2 (5:54) we've Speaker 1 (5:54) lost a world treasure. And there'll never be one. There'll never be another Dolly. And there'll never be nobody that's celebrated like her. Speaker 3 (6:02) No. Never. Absolutely not. I had hoped that I would be celebrated like Dolly, but after seeing all the outpouring of love. But you're not. Speaker 1 (6:11) Huh? You're not going to be celebrated like her because she was one of a kind. I Speaker 2 (6:15) love you, Daphne. I don't know if they'll lower the flags for you. Speaker 1 (6:18) You don't think they'll lower the flag? No. They ain't even going to do it for me. Well, maybe they could turn the Empire State Building pink for me, too. But you know what? I just loved her for the way she was. I seen when Barbara Walters interviewed her and talked kind of ugly to her. But she said, well, how would you feel if I called you a hillbilly? She said, well, I might kick your shins. Speaker 3 (6:45) Well, I think that Dolly always had the best comebacks. And, you know, she had that one liner that, you know, they said, well, what do you think about when people call you a dumb blonde? She said, well. First of all, I'm not blind. And second, I know I'm not dumb. So, you know, she always had a great comeback. But Dolly always stayed very nonpolitical. Speaker 2 (7:10) I was about to say, there's one video that's been viral of somebody asking her something about Trump. And she said, I'm not getting into that. She said, I learned a long time ago in the show business to keep your mouth shut. She Speaker 1 (7:23) said, I am a Speaker 3 (7:24) performer. For the people. Entertainer. For the people. And she said, I don't care what your political affiliation is. She said, I love everyone and I want to love everyone the way God loves them. And Speaker 1 (7:34) that's the way I feel. That's the way I feel. Do you. And I'm going to do me. And you know what? She is always just happy. That's the way I want to be. I am happy. Speaker 3 (7:44) Well, I don't know about you being as happy as Dolly. I mean, you know, you do bitch a lot. And you do talk poorly to me. Oh, my God. You don't buy gifts for me. Speaker 1 (7:56) Why don't quit that? You're too old for that. Mama, I'm soon to be 40. Well, if you need something, I'll get it for you. But I don't think you need anything. No, I don't Speaker 3 (8:08) need anything. But you should want something. Yes. Well, Speaker 1 (8:10) you know what? Everybody wants something all the time. Speaker 3 (8:13) And, you know, she tells me when I see I want that. She said, well, want one hand shit in the other. See which one fills up first. Speaker 1 (8:20) Who says that to their child? I don't know. Well, you know what? Let's just move on with life and be happy. Well, what age do you actually feel today? Well, if it wasn't for my leg, I'd still feel 20. Speaker 3 (8:34) So if it hadn't been for the COVID vaccine, you'd still feel 20? And Speaker 1 (8:38) he's not even going to get punished for what he did to me and thousands and millions of other people. He's going to get to ride free while we're suffering. Speaker 3 (8:46) And you're out here, he turned you into a gimp. Speaker 1 (8:48) Yeah, I'm just like a Hopalong Cassidy. Speaker 1 (8:54) But other than that, I feel great. I never have a headache. I never have a pain nowhere else. I'm great. I got more wrong Speaker 3 (9:02) with me than you do. I know. Y'all always want something. Mama, they don't have mine in your. See, that's what I tell my kids about being careful who you lay down with, because they only have 50 % of our DNA. Speaker 1 (9:14) And Speaker 3 (9:15) that other side's a little weaker DNA anyway. Yeah, they're weak. Yeah. They're weak as well, Walter. Speaker 3 (9:22) So this one right here, clearly my DNA like jumped on top. But you got to be careful if you go out here and lay down with somebody that's, you know. Well, I just tell you. You need to get up. Because Speaker 1 (9:36) you just know Speaker 3 (9:36) they're only going to have 25 % of your day. You know the way Speaker 1 (9:39) I feel about life. Be thankful. Get up and be the best that you can be. Speaker 3 (9:46) You say that a lot. And literally before I get out of bed, I have said, God, I'm asking for you to bless this day, to let every step that I take be for the glory of your name. And Lord, I am not asking you to solve my problems. I'm asking you to give me a solution and I'll figure it out. Not even give me a solution. I'll come up with a plan as long as I'm right here beside you. But mama, before I can get out of my bedroom door, somebody's done pissed me off and I got to cuss them out. Well, see. And that's the devil. Speaker 1 (10:14) That's the devil. And I don't like him and I don't want him with me. I tell him, get away from me because you're wasting Speaker 3 (10:20) time. Speaker 1 (10:20) She says, Speaker 3 (10:21) devil, move on. Move on. And she'll say, I refute you. I said, it's rebuke you. Well, Speaker 1 (10:28) anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to hang around with him. You Speaker 3 (10:30) kiss, he can get on. Yeah, I'm not Speaker 1 (10:33) fooling with him. I got other things to do. Speaker 3 (10:36) So if you feel 20, what age do you think you act? Speaker 1 (10:41) 20? I told you. Do you see any difference in me if it wasn't for me hopping along? Speaker 3 (10:48) Well, I don't think that you... I think you act about... 13 or 14. Speaker 1 (10:56) Oh, well, then I'll go back doing
