Speaker 1 (0:00) Our guest this week might be named Barlow, but she's always setting the bar high. She's serving baby gorgeous meals and her looks always eat. She's not afraid to tell the truth and that's how she cashes her reality check. She doesn't need sugar in her diet coke because she's sweet enough. Her mornings are always bright because she's raising sons. She's happily married but just dropped a hot single in your area. The only time she double crosses is when she goes back into church. She can never be two-faced because she's always in glam. She'll never sell you out unless your name is Vita Tequila. Here to chat. the brand new season of the best Housewives franchise on TV, the biggest misconceptions people have about her, and the hardest scenes of hers to rewatch. Please welcome entrepreneur, pop music icon, main cast member of the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Roaring 20th, and star of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 7, Lisa Barlow. Lisa, how are you? I'm Speaker 3 (0:45) so good. After that intro, I'm great. Did we miss anything? I need to take you everywhere. I go, both of you, and you can introduce me everywhere, anytime. Speaker 1 (0:55) Do you think Andy Cohen's hiring a tagline ghostwriter maybe? He needs to. I'm going to have Speaker 3 (0:59) you right next season. Season eight, I'm coming. It's like 50 options right there. Speaker 1 (1:03) You're good to go. Speaker 3 (1:05) This is amazing. Well, Speaker 1 (1:07) we're very excited to hear what the tagline is going to be for season seven. We've only seen the season premiere. So big things coming soon. So thank you for joining us at the onset of what should be a stellar. season of Real Housewives. First up though. Yeah. Speaker 2 (1:20) We need to talk about everything that you wore to podcast today. So we need to go through every item. The whole look. Speaker 3 (1:26) Okay. So I'm staying in the Kearing family and I'm in full Versace. Yes. Head to toe Versace. Actually the bodysuit St. Laurent. So Versace leather jacket, Versace glasses. Wow. Um, 20, 26, 27 Versace. Velvet skirt and Versace shoes. Speaker 1 (1:44) The shoes are wild. You know what? These Speaker 3 (1:45) look very Bratz dolls. I almost gave them away. And then I'm like, no, I like them. I actually sent a pair to my sister in like the Tiffany blue color. And I just asked her for them back. Speaker 1 (1:55) Are they hard to walk in? Speaker 3 (1:56) No, they're amazing. It's like walking on like air. Speaker 1 (1:58) Okay. And the Speaker 3 (1:59) platform helps. Speaker 1 (2:00) What about the intimates? Speaker 3 (2:02) Versace low? Intimates, you know what? I'm Skims. Okay. Team Skims. I go full on Skims. We're Skims boys Speaker 1 (2:07) as well. Speaker 2 (2:07) Yeah. You Speaker 3 (2:08) know what? She did something with Skims. I'm obsessed with them. She Speaker 2 (2:11) definitely did something. That's for sure. She did. What about the shades? Oh, Speaker 3 (2:15) shades Versace. Of course. Speaker 2 (2:17) Versace. The hardware? The Speaker 3 (2:18) jewelry. This is compliments of John Barlow. I love a stack. I Speaker 2 (2:23) actually Speaker 3 (2:24) wear like, I went low on the Speaker 1 (2:27) stack today. Speaker 3 (2:28) Normally I have it like almost to my elbow. Speaker 2 (2:30) Oh, wow. Okay. There's a lot hiding up that sleeve, girl. Speaker 3 (2:33) Yeah, we love bling. Tricks up Speaker 2 (2:34) the sleeve. We love bling. Shine. And I like Speaker 3 (2:36) real diamonds. I do not like, I do not like lab grown. I'll never be caught in lab grown. I won't Speaker 2 (2:42) tell my wife that. Yeah. Do you like lab Speaker 3 (2:44) grown? Maybe. Really? Speaker 2 (2:46) You Speaker 3 (2:46) know what? They're just, it's cheaper. Yeah, but not by much. Okay. Not by much. And it's a mental thing for me. It is cheaper, but not by much. They're Speaker 1 (2:54) real and they're spectacular. Yes. Are any of these the infamous rings that got lost in, I forget what airport it was, but in the ladies room? Oh, in Palm Springs. Yeah. Speaker 3 (3:01) So this one is the replacement. That ring was not insured. No claims were made. Damn. Other than that, it's lost or someone took it. And then this one was the replacement one John got me. Is it insured? It'll never be the original. Speaker 1 (3:16) Wow. Fat baguettes on that. Speaker 3 (3:17) Yeah, it's good. Emerald cut, which I love an emerald cut. Speaker 1 (3:21) Are they insured now? Speaker 2 (3:22) I don't know. I had to ask John. I Speaker 1 (3:24) hope Speaker 3 (3:24) you learned your lesson. You know what is so crazy? My best friend, we were with them in the Mediterranean. He had a $500,000 black diamond necklace on and just like ended up. We were all like he was offering tens of thousands of dollars for someone to die for it. Speaker 2 (3:38) Oh, my God. But Speaker 3 (3:39) none of their jewelry is insured either. I think it's hard when you get pieces all the time to remember to put them on your policy. $100 Speaker 2 (3:44) ,000 gone like that. Speaker 3 (3:46) Yeah. Oh, God. They're worth $9 billion, though. It's OK. Speaker 2 (3:50) That's literally $5. It's Speaker 3 (3:51) a Speaker 2 (3:51) little drop. It's a little drop. I need some friends like that. But you know, Speaker 3 (3:54) but you know, what's funny is like you have to pay attention to that stuff. You forgot. Yeah. Speaker 2 (3:58) Yeah. Did you insure your Speaker 3 (3:59) wife's ring? Speaker 2 (4:00) Of course. The other lab room? No, the engagement ring is real and it's insured. Okay. To be clear. Speaker 1 (4:05) Let's move on. All Speaker 2 (4:06) right. Fit check Speaker 1 (4:06) complete. Lisa, what can people expect with season seven of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City? Speaker 3 (4:12) You know, season seven was epic for me because we have had the same crew for a very long time on our show. And this year it was, you know, I don't think a lot of people know this. There's so many layers to being on a housewife show. So like no one claims us really. So I'm a. contractor of the production company who contracts with Bravo, who's owned by NBC. Speaker 1 (4:37) So, Speaker 3 (4:38) you know, like I'm not a W2 person. I'm a K, I'm a K1 and a W9. And so, um, on housewives, like they hired a whole new crew. So for me, it felt really fresh. We had a new show runner, a full new team. The show runner has worked on like ladies of London, like that epic season. of Ladies of London last year. He's done a lot of shows outside of Bravo, Beverly Hills, and he's back on Beverly Hills again, like after our amazing, yeah, it airs in five months. They're filming it right now. And he just changed the whole tone for me. I felt like, you know, I'm always myself, but this year I told them going into the season, it was so important to me that like, I'm like, I do this to show my life and the whole. job of a housewife is to show people something that they can either like understand, relate to, or like aspire to be. So you hope like you're aspiring and like inspiring, aspirational and inspiring. And so this year I felt like he was just like, just be you. And another thing for me, that's really important is like, I always have my own voice and I felt so enabled this year. It just, I hadn't a great experience, but it's fun. The drama's there. The like all the things that make a housewife show good. But what really was important and special for me is you get to see a lot more of my family. I function amazingly well with my family. I'm married to John for we've been together for 25 years, married for 23. And for me, it's like that's a big part of my life. Like he's a big definer of me and my boys. So for me, it's like important to show that side of me. It Speaker 1 (6:20) got pretty real with John in the season premiere. What makes John such a good husband? Speaker 3 (6:25) Besides his Speaker 1 (6:26) muscles. Besides him being jacked as hell. He Speaker 3 (6:29) is jacked as hell. Peptide. You know what? He's always had an amazing body. He's always put a lot of work into his body. Like since I've known him and probably since high school. Peptides are key. Okay. So you know what? Jack thinks they're a placebo. Yeah, exactly. He's on the Wolverine stack. But Jack thinks it's a placebo effect. Like Jack's like, dad, you could really do this on your own. I don't think, I think the peptides make you think you can lift heavier. but you've always been able to live. It's working either way. Jack has the Speaker 1 (7:03) confidence of a 21 year old. Speaker 3 (7:05) Our Speaker 1 (7:06) age, like late thirties, forties. Like, yeah, you might need a little assist. How does, how does it feel that people are really thirsting after John on social media this season after just one episode? Speaker 3 (7:14) Um, well, I've always known he's so cute, but I mean, it's, some people are so brazen and so gross. Like my kids, Jack and Henry hate it. And like, I just say, you know, John's DMs are 100 % seen by me. Okay. Okay. Good to know. Warning. If you're looking at John Barlow's DMs or if you're in them, or let me start that over. Yeah. If you're in John Barlow's DMs, I already know it. I already see it. And you're blocked. If you're gross, you're blocked. Plus like John's not that guy. Zero tolerance policy on your end. Zero tolerance. And even like my kids get involved in stuff. They like screenshot stuff and they're like, this bitch is inappropriate. Damn. Speaker 1 (7:54) Okay. I Speaker 3 (7:54) mean. Speaker 1 (7:55) Speaking of though, like being a hit with the ladies, Jack and Henry are really seemingly cleaning up. Why do you think they are so popular with the ladies this season? Oh Speaker 3 (8:03) my gosh, this is so funny. You know, they're Jack is so funny because he has a great sense of humor. Yeah. Speaker 1 (8:11) He Speaker 3 (8:11) is a return missionary and he is way more tame than his persona on social media. Okay. I think he's so funny, but I'm like, I don't know. He's such a like mood. I'm in awe of my kids, but then also like I'm still their mom. So, you know, like Jack's recent tryst on TikTok, I'm like, take it down, baby. Time to delete the app. But they're also really funny and they have a strong respect for women just like their dad does, but they do have amazing senses of humor. So it's like a hard balance of like letting them. I raised him well. Like I'm not worried about like how they're raised or how they're going to treat their future wives. Jack actually just sent me a picture. It's like AI of him with a little girl and he, and it's like a little dot, like a daughter. And it says, why did you check her out of school today? And the whole backseat of the car is filled with like Chanel Louis Vuitton. And I was like, wow. And I'm like, that's what you're going to be like. You're going to be the best dad. The one good use Speaker 2 (9:12) of AI. That's right there. I Speaker 3 (9:13) raised him. I'm always told him, I'm like, if you can't afford to buy your wife a Chanel bag, Every time she asked for one, you need to work harder. Speaker 1 (9:20) Yeah. Yeah. Got that. Take it down. Get a job. Work. What's the what's the hardest thing about raising good boys into becoming good men in 2026? OK, this Speaker 3 (9:29) might be controversial, but since they were little, I'm always like, you cannot look at porn. OK. Speaker 1 (9:35) You know, and I'm like, I Speaker 3 (9:36) monitor when they were little because they have friends coming over and like everyone knows if you come in our house, I'm like, if you even try and show my kids pornography like your band, you are like out of it. I think it's highly addictive. I think that it like, you know, when Jack was of the age where we could have a talk, like the talk with him, I'm like, if you want to have great sex, you can't be addicted to porn and you won't respect women. Like, how would you feel if your dad were looking at like naked girls all the time? You wouldn't respect them. You like, I just think there's so much that comes with it. It's highly addictive. It's, you know, pushed on our kids from a young age. Like you hit the wrong pop up. And so like, I've always been like, I explained it to my kids though, too. I'm like, this is why you don't want to look at it. Like, I think it's controversial because some people like I have friends that are like, I love porn. And I'm like, well, I'm telling my kids they can't look at it. You know, but I think for me, I'm like strong respect for women has to come like from me and John. Is that a church Speaker 1 (10:35) teaching that you brought to them or is that something you just believe in yourself? No, Speaker 3 (10:37) it's just something I believe in myself. I dated a guy and was engaged to a guy where like. I think that was like an addiction for him. And this is before like the internet, you could just like easily get something. Speaker 1 (10:48) Yeah, but he had like a stack of magazines. Stack of Playboys locked Speaker 3 (10:52) up. Like they were locked in a fucking file cabinet and they were in pristine condition and it felt like so demeaning for me. And like, I'm just like, I just don't want that as my life. And I think, you know, with my boys, I've explained to them, they know the situation. Like, I'm like, Hey, I was engaged before your dad. And this really bothered me. Um, it's not something I want in my life. And I'm like, it's cheating, you know? Have you ever caught the Speaker 1 (11:18) boys looking at porn? No, Speaker 3 (11:19) I haven't. But I've, I'm also like, I explained it to him and I'm like, listen, you guys are both cute. If you don't have enough game and you need to like, Yeah. Harsh, but true. You know what I mean? And it's like, be respectful of women. And even with Jack, like they tease me all the time and they're like, I'm making out all the time. They're not. Speaker 2 (11:39) And Speaker 3 (11:40) they're also like, they're going to hate me after this podcast. Go off, please. Yes. But I also am like, you know, Jack, I'm like, dating is not. Love Island in 2026. Like that's what's teaching our kids how to date. No Speaker 1 (11:53) one can Speaker 3 (11:53) wear pants that Speaker 1 (11:54) tight. Yeah. No. And Speaker 3 (11:55) I'm like, we can't exactly. No one can wear pants that tight. But I'm like, we're not doing Kiss Challenge Wednesdays and like switch out the girls on Thursdays. Lap Speaker 2 (12:03) Dance Friday. Lap Speaker 3 (12:04) Dance Friday. Heart Speaker 2 (12:05) Rate Challenge Saturday. Yeah. Et cetera. Speaker 3 (12:08) Wait, is that a thing? Yeah. It's like they Speaker 2 (12:09) measure the heart rates during lap dances. Oh Speaker 3 (12:12) my God. It's probably Speaker 2 (12:12) one of the best episodes ever on Love Island every season. FYI. Speaker 3 (12:15) You Speaker 2 (12:15) just got to tell them that there's nothing beats the real thing. Speaker 3 (12:18) Nothing beats the real thing. And that's what I saw. So don't beat Speaker 2 (12:20) yourself because nothing beats the real thing. Lisa Barlow. Speaker 3 (12:24) But I think it's important. And when you're raising boys, it's like respect women. I grew up in a household where my dad has a lot of respect. I'm one of five girls. I have one brother and he raised us where like we respect ourselves. We respect others and we're supposed to be respected by men. And I've just raised my boys like that. And I think with Jack, you know, like he's dating. But he takes it seriously. Like my kids have good senses of humor, though. They're funny. Well, Speaker 1 (12:49) they're very funny. Speaking of things that are maybe like, you know, hard to watch the lunch you had with John in season six. What was harder to rewatch the lunch you had with John in season six where you had that big fight or when in season five they showed John taking about 15 minutes to parallel park his car? Speaker 3 (13:06) John's a great parallel Parker. The record might reflect otherwise. I Speaker 1 (13:10) swear, Speaker 3 (13:10) you Speaker 1 (13:10) know. I saw you guys park the big body suburban downstairs. Oh, John's up. Two moves. John's Speaker 2 (13:16) not Speaker 1 (13:16) here. Speaker 2 (13:16) You Speaker 1 (13:17) didn't Speaker 2 (13:17) get the ick rewatching that. Speaker 3 (13:19) It's ick. But I think the thing is he was on the phone with me and I was talking to him before he went in. And then he also had a producer and I don't want to give away stuff like John. I mean, he's a great parallel Parker, but it was. I really thought it was me that was going to get out of the car. I was like, wait, did I ever drive the Defender? I don't remember driving the Defender. And Speaker 2 (13:40) then Speaker 3 (13:40) I'm Speaker 2 (13:41) like, Speaker 3 (13:41) oh my God, it's John. No, the scene with me and John was so hard. It wasn't hard in the moment because we'd been married for a long time, like, you know, 22 years at that point. We're business partners. We're raising kids together. We're in everything together. Like I say, he's my partner in everything. Um, except for Lux marketing. Um, and then, but for me, it was hard because when we left that scene, it just felt like a real conversation. When I watched it back, I genuinely had my heart broken. And I told my dad and my sister, I'm like, I, I don't think he loves me anymore because like the way he's acting, he would never let my feelings be hurt. And And you could tell he was like really upset with me and just, and John has a backbone. I think a lot of people in line are like, oh, she runs you. John's Speaker 1 (14:28) a Speaker 3 (14:28) Scorpio. He's like a type A personality. You've got two type A's living in the same household. And like, but I know him, like I know everything about him. And I feel like that watching it back, I'm like, this was hard. I cried. I was so upset. You told Speaker 1 (14:44) him in that moment, you felt underappreciated and undervalued. How can. fellows out there make sure that their ladies feel appreciated. Women Speaker 3 (14:50) and men are so different. And I think since that scene, I've put so much thought into why I feel a certain way and why he feels a certain way. Men, I think, and maybe I'm wrong because I'm talking to two men. You can tell me if I'm way off base. Speaker 1 (15:04) When Speaker 3 (15:04) you're critiqued by your significant other, girlfriend, friend, and it's a woman, it's not a critique of a myopic thing. It's a global thing. Speaker 2 (15:14) It's Speaker 3 (15:14) an all of a sudden. everything you do is wrong and everything is like messed up. So if I say one simple thing, like, Oh, could you do this? Or like maybe change this up instead of John being like, Oh yeah, that one thing, it all of a sudden is like an attack on his entire existence. Yeah. And I've, and I've literally started to flag it when he does it now. And I explained it to him. I'm like, Hey, I'm not like when I give constructive feedback or criticism. You know, you could say the same thing to me and it's not going to affect me because I know it's like specific to what you're talking about. Guys are so dramatic. Speaker 2 (15:50) You guys really are. You're attacking the patriarchy. But I think Speaker 3 (15:55) when you look at it that and I explained it to John, then he sees it that way and he'll say like, oh, you don't listen. And I'm like, no, I do. And now he's learned to like recognize like I am listening and I'm acting and. you know, we're so close that I can say like, oh, I'm taking action based on what I'm hearing. And I'm, and I am listening and there's action behind it where, you know, like, I think it opened up a lot of doors for us to communicate differently about a lot of different things, but men and women are so different and where we need to be heard is where we can get isolated is, um, if when we're explaining our feelings. it becomes an argument. Speaker 2 (16:36) Then Speaker 3 (16:37) where you're teaching us not to communicate our feelings, because every time we do that, it's going to create a fight and I don't want to do that. So I'm just not going to say how I feel anymore and I'll just figure it out by myself. But then the woman feels isolated. And so John and I have had a lot of those conversations where it's like, he'll always say to me, how can I hear you better? How can I? be better. And I want the same for myself with him. Speaker 1 (17:02) Is it hard to have those conversations on camera at this point? Are you kind of used to it? Speaker 3 (17:05) Well, that conversation, I didn't expect that lunch. I did not expect to feel that way after. And it didn't feel like a hard conversation on camera when he got emotional with me at the beginning of episode season seven, episode one. Even the crew was like, holy, there
