Speaker 7 (0:00) Now on 105.9 FM and streaming worldwide on the WMAL app. Making sense of the news. Speaker 6 (0:11) Here I am, rocking you like a hurricane. Welcome back to the program. I'm Derek Hunter. I'll be with you for the next hour. Then the great one, Mark Levin, brings it on home through a good Friday and Easter weekend. Hope you have great plans. We're going to get to your calls in a second, but I want to just sort of parlay this audio from David Hogg that I have been teasing into the conversation that we're having, because I think as... I think I can do it. I think I'm highly trained and can do this. I am a professional. I broadcast professional. So David Hogg, you remember him from the Parkland shooting. He was one of the gun grabbers. We need to get rid of all guns. He's the one who rose to prominence. He got into Harvard on the back of his activism, not on the back of his spelling or academia, academic achievements. But he also founded a pillow company that lasted about 20 minutes because he wanted to take on Mike Lindell. He is a bomb thrower. And then the second somebody says, hey, what response? He goes, well, you're so mean to me. You're so mean. It's just an awful person. And of course, that means you rise through the hierarchy of the Democratic Party. It's that's just science. That's not me talking. And so he is now the. Speaker 1 (1:30) vice chair of the Democratic National. He used to be vice chairman, but they've made it gender new. He's just the vice chair. And honestly, it's fitting for David Hogg. He was getting into a lot of trouble with Democrats lately, the old guard, because this is the attitude I'm talking about. He wants to purge the Democratic Party. Stalin loves a purge. Mao loves a purge. Castro loved to purge. Hitler loved to purge. Saddam Hussein loved to purge. Pretty much every totalitarian dictator loves himself a good purge because it keeps everybody loyal. You kill the people who are disloyal. You, of course, kill a couple of people who weren't disloyal, but it puts everybody else on notice. You better not be disloyal or even think impure thoughts. And it really works. If you're into such things, if you want to be a totalitarian and David Hogg absolutely does. He's a progressive. So he wants to challenge Democrats in safe districts. He wants to use the resources of the Democratic National Committee to pick younger, more rabid left-wing Democrats to challenge older Democrats who maybe aren't willing to strap themselves to bombs and blow themselves up in the commissary if they get near a Republican. It really is the Hamas wing of the Democratic Party. Speaker 1 (2:58) And so obviously people are like, if you have limited resources, shouldn't you focus on beating Republicans? This is good news for us, by the way, because the more they spend money trying to purify their party, A, that says a lot to voters and B, the less money they have for the general election. And so he went on CBS News. They have a streaming service. Nobody watches it. It doesn't matter. But they do have a streaming service if you're so inclined. If you can't sleep, find the CBS News streaming service. It'll put you to sleep. To talk about this idea of his that he wants to waste Democratic resources. This sounds like something Republicans would have done. He wants to spend a lot of money fighting Democrats who are in safe seats to make them unsafe. Thereby possibly putting some of the seats in play because they've nominated a left winger who's so crazy. And he tries to explain why that's a good thing. Cut to go. Let Speaker 8 (3:58) me let you address some social media criticism you've gotten. Matt Bennett from the Clinton Gore era. This is insane behavior. John Anzalone pollster most recently for President Biden. Yeah. Twenty million dollars should be spent on swing state legislative. meaning state legislative races, and down ballot. Not on this. Steve Shale, a Florida Democratic strategist, saying the DNC's vice chair should be focused on this kind of engagement, meaning engaging in places in battleground states where Democrats have lost ground, not over which Dem in a plus-20 seat should be primaried Speaker 2 (4:37) and knocked out. You know, look at the last results of the previous election. Those are the purported experts that brought us here. Just to say, it's not personal, right? I don't take those attacks personally in this regard. This is a strategic disagreement. And I want to be clear, all this money that we're raising is not only being spent on primaries by any means. That is the story that a lot of journalists and media run with. We are working on Speaker 8 (5:00) safer seats. What Speaker 2 (5:00) else are you Speaker 8 (5:00) going Speaker 2 (5:00) to spend it on? We're also going to be spending it on front-line seats where great young people are running, right, if they are the Democratic nominee, to make sure we're bringing in fresh faces to Congress. Speaker 1 (5:11) We need fresh faces in Congress. They are forming a circular firing squad based on age. I love it. I personally, I love it. I'd cheer it. I would buy a ticket or I would certainly get it on pay-per-view depending on where it was, if it was Speaker 6 (5:25) a home game or an away game. I would watch this all day long. Speaker 6 (5:31) Major Garrett Speaker 1 (5:32) there circles back. He wants more clarity. And David Hogg simply digs in his heels. One thing you notice about these young, quote unquote, young progressives and now that AOC is like 35, she's not really qualifies a young progressive, but she hasn't matured at all and she hasn't learned anything in probably 20 years. So young at heart. They have the perfect combination of arrogance and ignorance. They don't know what they don't know, but they also don't care what they don't know. They insist they know what they don't know. And there's no talking to somebody with this perfect combination of arrogance and ignorance. They are just not interested in anything you have to say. They also will learn nothing from the last election. Last election, it wasn't like, well, we weren't crazy enough. Well, you're talking about seats you won last time. All right. You lost the other seats because you were too crazy. In Portland, it doesn't matter. You could put an old shoe. up on the ballot if it says universal health care and amnesty for illegal and let's cut the body parts off of children they're going to squeak by with 75 80 of the vote that shoe would That's not where the battlegrounds are. Now, I love that the DNC leadership is focused on that stuff because that gives us an opportunity in marginal districts while they're fighting for primaries and spending money, gives us an opportunity in marginal districts to put good candidates up and beat Democrats. That's I'm all in favor of that. So David Hogg then continues and he doubles, triples, quadruples down on this idea. Cut three. Go right Speaker 2 (7:14) now. We talk about diversity all the time in Congress. One of the things we don't talk about as much in regard to that is age. Currently, if we had the same number of 25 to 30-year-olds in Congress as we do proportionally to the population, we would have over 40 people under the age of 30 in Congress. And I don't know if you've looked at Congress recently. We have one that is under the age of 30. That is not good for the future of the Democratic Party. President Biden was as successful as he was, I would argue. Because he started when he was 29, which I know is hard for some younger people to believe. But if you look at FDR, if you look at LBJ, they started all before they were 30 and they became that successful because they were that young. So right now, those leaders don't Speaker 8 (7:51) have Speaker 2 (7:51) that chance. So Speaker 8 (7:52) this is an age Speaker 2 (7:52) thing. Well, part of it is. But there's also the fact that a lot of our members of all ages, not just older people, there are older members that are meeting this moment. Like I said, like Congresswoman Pelosi that has spent the past decade. fighting back against Donald Trump. But there are members, too, because it's not just a matter of age. It is a matter of effectiveness. People say, well, David, is this just out with the old and in with the new? I would say no. This is out with the ineffective and in with the effective, because we need members who are ready to meet this moment to fight back against Donald Trump. And what that looks like are people like Senator Van Hollen. who are literally going to El Salvador to say this man needs to come back. It looks like people like Cory Booker, who, mind you, did primary somebody to get to that position. It looks like people in many ways like Hakeem Jeffries, who primaried multiple people to get to that position, right? This is a healthy process for our party, and I think we should have an embrace of it when it doesn't risk us
