Speaker 2 (0:09) It's Jackson, Claude, and we would show the fact to Speaker 1 (0:17) know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's the toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to Toast. It's Thursday. Yeah, like latter half that we didn't really earn, Speaker 2 (0:30) but whatever. We didn't, Speaker 1 (0:31) but we're enjoying. Speaker 1 (0:33) I like that little, like, we're enjoying. It's giving rise and shine. We are enjoying it. Except this Speaker 2 (0:39) weekend is a bit of work. It's not the hard holiday, but like a lot of cooking, a lot of hosting. Rosh Hashanah is Friday night and Saturday night. Speaker 1 (0:47) I'm spending the entire holiday at my in-laws. Like not a dish to be cleaned, no back-breaking work. And I'm really Speaker 2 (0:54) like looking forward to it. That's exciting. Olivia's doing the first night and then I'm doing the second night. So I'm excited and nervous to host in my new house. Speaker 1 (1:03) Of course, so much pressure. We Speaker 2 (1:04) have our dining table, like our formal dining table, but we don't have a kitchen table yet. But I guess regardless, we would have been doing grocery shopping at the formal dining. So it's okay. I'm like nervous. There's a rug under the table. Like don't spill. But we'll have a kid's table. We'll have kids table with their little, you know, play table and then adults. Speaker 1 (1:21) A rug underneath the dining table is so chic. And I'm not just saying that because I have one. No, no, it's really party, but it's nerve wracking. A thousand percent. I hope you didn't like spend a lot of money and like you got one that's like microfiber or whatever. Knowing you, you probably got like a silk rug from Persia. It's like Rorschach. What Speaker 2 (1:36) are they called? Speaker 1 (1:37) That's the artist. Rorschach? Yeah. Speaker 2 (1:42) I don't know, but I'm sure you probably got like a stark rug. Okay. No, it's very beautiful, but I'm excited. I think I'm going to, and I have to like plan the menu, but I think I'll make a brisket. Keep it easy. Jake Cohen brisket, make it on Friday. We're Speaker 1 (1:53) doing Speaker 2 (1:53) short ribs. To Speaker 1 (1:54) the Speaker 2 (1:54) sides and everything on Saturday. And just as easy as can be. Also, status update, my stove is working. I feel like a caveman who just discovered fire. Like we can make anything we want with all of this fire. How exciting. And. Now I feel whole again. That's great. And I can't wait to see what you cook up for me. Oh, I'm coming to visit Speaker 1 (2:14) soon. I know I'm very excited. After the holidays, you know, kind of life update on my, I actually have a lot to share today. First of all, major news with Romeo. And it was so crazy because we were just talking about Romeo. I have to tell you guys. You guys aren't Speaker 2 (2:26) ready for this update. I can't believe this is the biggest Speaker 1 (2:29) update, but it kind of is. My story. actually comes with a photo and the photo's gonna be on screen. So if you're watching, it's by the way on YouTube. Speaker 2 (2:36) We're gonna add Speaker 1 (2:36) it. We're gonna take the time to add it. I already sent it. I said, get it up. So funny, we were talking yesterday about the grooming and Romeo, I said, you guys, because I cheaped out in the Hamptons, he still hasn't been groomed. He looks huge. Now I told you also that he was at my in-laws and of course my in-laws are the best. They don't even ask. They just take care of things. They got him groomed. They've got him groomed multiple times. I'm not like that particular. Just cut his hair and make him clean. cut to my father-in-law says picks him up and sends me this picture and I didn't know that he was getting groomed so I assumed that I was getting a photo from like the day Romeo was born and we were just like taking a trip down memory lane I'm like oh how sweet no the photo was from yesterday he got butchered like legit photo insert photo here I had no idea his ears were that small. And I literally like, it's a combination of like the photo itself. It's giving like Hamas tunnel. It's Speaker 2 (3:34) giving Speaker 1 (3:34) hostage. It's giving hostage. The cut is really bad. And I was shocked. First of all, I wasn't mad or anything because they're doing me a favor. It's Speaker 2 (3:45) not Speaker 1 (3:45) their fault. Speaker 2 (3:46) They didn't cut his hair. And by the way, I spoke to my mother-in-law. Speaker 1 (3:49) She said, I said, keep the ears long, just cut. Like the thing that you say, they just sort of like went rogue. And I imagine like. It's worse in person. My sister-in-law went to her parents yesterday and was sending me pictures. She was like, it's even worse. It's choppy. It is really bad. I was floored. The thing about Romeo, obviously we have a complicated relationship, but I've always found him to be extremely beautiful. He's one of the most cutest, handsome cavaliers I've personally ever seen. He's cuter than Theo. I stand on that. Stand on business. And let me tell you, he looks ugly. Botched. Botched. By the groom. Guys, this photo. Speaker 2 (4:27) The picture is so funny. Yeah, he does look like a newborn puppy. How did they not take off ear? Like, how is that all hair? Speaker 1 (4:35) How does he still have cartilage in his ear? Like I was, he was irrecognizable to me. And like, you know, I thought it was literally a picture from the day he was born. Like when they come out, they're like kind of wet and like slick. I literally thought it was a birth photo, newborn photo shoot of Romeo. No, this was 12 hours ago. You guys have to see the photo if you're listening as a podcast, Speaker 2 (4:52) like Claudia will post it to her story. Of course, yeah. It's really too much. And not to rub salt in the wound, but Bruno happened to get groomed yesterday as well. And he looked gorgeous. He looks amazing. However, like you said, you're coming down here soon, and I think we should get the two-for-one special. So I am coming down. I seriously looked at Bruno this morning on my way out the door. I was like, Bruno, you look handsome. You look like a two-year-old. You look so young and sprightly and cute. Speaker 1 (5:16) New house agrees with bro. New Speaker 2 (5:18) house. Speaker 1 (5:19) That chicken Speaker 2 (5:20) bone agrees with Bruno. You guys, we haven't heard. I heard it's. Speaker 1 (5:23) I heard it's fatal for a dog. I know people were Speaker 2 (5:25) very nervous, but you guys. It's Speaker 1 (5:26) like Speaker 2 (5:26) eating a Speaker 1 (5:27) grape. Speaker 2 (5:27) We're like 36 hours out from Chicken Gate, nothing. Speaker 1 (5:31) Well, the thing is, I think we're up to like life six or seven with Bruno and you know he has nine lives. So you are getting up there, but the chicken boat is not going to take him out. Yeah, Speaker 2 (5:39) no, it's not going to take him out, but it's contributing to the eventual demise for sure. But like Bruno's living the life. He's living life in the way that he wants. You know what I mean? Like he's living a very happy, fulfilled life. He's Speaker 1 (5:52) living out loud. Speaker 2 (5:54) he's living Speaker 1 (5:55) out loud. Don't you find? He is living out loud for sure. For sure. And whenever Speaker 2 (6:00) he goes, like hopefully, you know, 20 years, whatever, whenever he goes, like it will be with a smile on his face. Speaker 1 (6:07) Oh my God. Like, do you ever? Like, do you think about like, like Bruno's death? Like, and what that will be like? I Speaker 2 (6:13) don't. Speaker 1 (6:15) Okay. That's good. That's really healthy. Speaker 2 (6:16) Yeah. I, I don't, I think he'll keep. He also Speaker 1 (6:19) does have like immortal energy. Yeah. No, like nothing could take him down. He's going to be one of those dogs, you know, like those families that have like crusty white, fluffy dogs that like literally can't see, can't go to the bathroom, can't hear, but like give love. Speaker 2 (6:32) He gives love. Bruno. I actually, I don't think about it. because you know I got a lot to think about um of course but yeah I guess that will be that would be sad like really terrible horrible thing oh my Speaker 1 (6:44) god I'll be so upset broody Speaker 2 (6:46) Bruno's Speaker 1 (6:47) sort of like our last connection to Theo I Speaker 2 (6:50) should bring him it's funny because Magnolia was around too for the Theo days but no Speaker 1 (6:54) that's not real I should bring Bruno to work with me Absolutely. Like, Jackie, who knows how much longer he has with the chicken bowl. Oh Speaker 2 (7:00) my gosh, Speaker 1 (7:00) I'll bring him Speaker 2 (7:01) tomorrow, you guys. A little Friday. It's kind of Speaker 1 (7:02) like when Theo was dying of cancer and I took him to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. Yeah, Speaker 2 (7:06) I think I'm going to bring Bruno to work tomorrow. I think that's what we all need. Speaker 1 (7:09) I love that. So, yes. Well, I'm looking forward to seeing Bruno. I keep trying to say my big news. Oh, right, right, right. Beyond Romeo's bad haircut. So, in a couple of, which was genuinely like the biggest news. Earth shattering. Um, we're coming down obviously cause I miss you after the holidays. I've like a lot, I need to catch up from like Hampton summer, you know, get my life in order. And then we're going to come down because I never even tell you guys, but like, it's kind of big news for me. Cause you guys know I'm like a renter till I die. Um, but when we were in Florida the last time, like during my sabbatical, that was December, 2025, right? Speaker 2 (7:42) Yeah. I purchased, I made a purchase. What did you purchase? Speaker 1 (7:47) Homeowner. Okay, like small place owner by the beach. Obviously, like I couldn't really stay with you, even though now in your new house, like maybe I could have, but I felt like my time was running out in like coming to you guys for weeks at a time. And like, now we need multiple bedrooms. Like we're just taking up a lot of space. Ruby's sleeping in the studio. Like it's not, it's not, like you're literally recording in Ruby's room. Yeah. Not cool. And I just figured like. If I'm going to buy a place, like I should do it like at the beach, water signs, be with my family. I spend so much time there. So we bought in December and like we've been doing work. So I am going to come down and just sort of like check the place out. It's giving your place. Yeah, Speaker 2 (8:27) I'm a place owner. I love that. I mean, I've loved it. I'm very excited. This means so much to me to be closer Speaker 1 (8:34) to my sister. And if it has felt like I've been extra cardboard in recent months, like now I can finally share, like I'm going through a lot. Like I am going through a lot. It's been, I live a very sort of like laissez-faire life. Like I'm a renter. You know what I mean? And now I feel so tethered. I have like bills and like. um payments and it's been really crazy it's been a growing experience for us yeah Speaker 2 (9:04) yeah and you just I'm in a similar stage like having moved into a new house and everything that comes along with it and decorating whatever I'm just looking forward to like turning the spigot off you know like I'll do what I have to do you know things have to be paid for everything we need a stove of course but I just need to get to a place where we can turn the spigot off I've been feeling that way for a while Speaker 1 (9:25) And I just feel like maybe like adulthood is like knowing that the spigot never turns off. You Speaker 2 (9:29) don't think so? I feel like I'm like a month away from turning the spigot off. Like parenthood, like things just happen. Speaker 1 (9:35) Okay, Speaker 2 (9:35) maybe there's different spigots. So I'm a month away from turning off the home spigot. Speaker 1 (9:40) Okay, and that's a big one. That will Speaker 2 (9:42) be a big one. And then I might have to turn off some other spigots, like Birkin spigot, like because the home spigot drained. Of course, other spigots shall suffer. They drain the well. Speaker 1 (9:53) Yeah. Speaker 1 (9:55) And then I wanted to tell you guys something else. Oh, what else could there be? I actually wrote like a list. Oh, I'm so glad I wrote down sometimes like I have so many things to share. And I forgot to tell you this. I yesterday remember we were saying on the toast like we were so excited for Dancing with the Stars. We love Tyler Cameron, but we just get the vibe that he's like a horrendous dancer. So I get this voice memo from Tyler Cameron. Yeah. And I believe Sharna was like in the background because I heard like a girly voice. Speaker 1 (10:24) Oh, it disappeared. Speaker 2 (10:26) Oh, I was excited to have a little Tyler C cameo. He was like horrendous. Speaker 1 (10:32) Who you calling horrendous? And he was like, I can't wait to prove you wrong. He said, if you, if we want to come and be like his friends and family, he would love to have us. And then people also did remind me that he had like a whole, I didn't watch his season of The Bachelor, weirdly. That's right. People reminded me as Speaker 2 (10:47) well. He had like a dance sequence. He Speaker 1 (10:49) was like the dancer. I think he actually has like amazing rhythm. And I think he has potential to win because the younger generation doesn't know Tyler C yet. And when they do, he's like Garrett Graham. Like they're going to love him. Everyone who Speaker 2 (11:00) knows him loves him. And Speaker 1 (11:02) if he has the skills, which I'm now sensing like he has a lot of rhythm, I think that he, so my top two are Julia Stiles and Tyler Cameron. You think Julia Stiles could win? Speaker 2 (11:12) I do. I have to go back to the board. Speaker 1 (11:16) She Speaker 2 (11:16) has like the whole Speaker 1 (11:16) millennial audience behind her. Like Dancing with the Stars is newly very Gen Z, very TikTok, but it's OG fan base is like millennial, like boomer. And they love Julia Stiles. Yes. Also, Tyler C Speaker 2 (11:29) was on that show. Speaker 2 (11:33) Dirty Dancing. What's that movie? Oh my God. Speaker 1 (11:37) Dirty Dancing. Dirty Dancing. I forgot about that. Yeah. He's like low key dancer. Yeah. Wait, that's cute. I forgot about that. No, I'm telling you. I think he has potential. Speaker 2 (11:47) Great. Well, I'm excited. I think that like premieres when? Speaker 1 (11:51) Next week. Speaker 2 (11:53) Okay. Speaker 1 (11:53) Oh, I tried to like be with the people and watch the trending show last night. Ben was out of town. I didn't want to watch the trending show. I'll tell you. I didn't want to watch the alleged woman beater on the US Open. So I tried to watch something else. Everyone's talking about the show Furious on Hulu with Emmy Rossum. Now, I sat down with my dinner and I watched. What did you get for dinner? Speaker 2 (12:12) I Speaker 1 (12:12) ordered because Ben was gone. What did you order? He left me alone. He left me hungry. I ordered. Like, I don't know why I like embarrassed. Why are you embarrassed? I don't know. I literally ordered sushi zaki. Like, there's nothing weird about that. Speaker 2 (12:26) Okay. I just like order it a lot. One time I got like an Uber Eats notification Speaker 1 (12:29) that I'm in like the top 0.1 % of orderers. But Speaker 2 (12:32) that's, I used to get those like when I lived in the city for my spots. And it's just because I'm loyal. It's not because I order so much. It's just because most people order from a different place all the time. I have three places I like. So yeah, I'm Speaker 1 (12:42) the Speaker 2 (12:42) number one customer. Speaker 1 (12:43) And I watched like the first five minutes of Furious. It was so spooky. I didn't know what it was about. And it was like, this guy was kidnapped and I turned it off immediately. Like I cannot watch shit like that by myself. Speaker 2 (12:53) Yeah, that's crazy. Like there's always a buzzy show that we don't watch, you know, like drama. Speaker 1 (12:58) I know, but I felt like I wanted to be with the people and share my thoughts. I Speaker 2 (13:01) don't watch fiction anymore. Speaker 1 (13:03) Well, the show is so Olivia Oshry coded. She like loves drama, kidnap, FBI. Like I got to tell her she has to watch it. No, Speaker 2 (13:09) the only fiction I'll watch is Chad Powers. A thousand percent. But really, like if you look at my history, I really only watch reality TV. Speaker 1 (13:19) I couldn't watch Chad Powers. It's like a husband and wife show. I know. I had the same Speaker 2 (13:22) experience last night. Like Zach like never came upstairs. And so I was like, I guess I'm not watching Chad Powers. Then I met him downstairs. He was watching sports. Oh yeah, that's why. There was some like for cocktail NFL game on in Australia. Yeah, the 49ers. Speaker 1 (13:38) Yeah. Speaker 2 (13:40) Yeah, yeah. I saw some people were just talking about it. Who was it? I Speaker 1 (13:44) do respect the NFL's attempt to like go worldwide and compete with soccer. It feels like unfair to the players who have to travel to Australia just for like the NFL's image issue. Yeah, that's Speaker 2 (13:54) really crazy and really far. It's so far. Yeah. I don't know who played. I think like the Rams or something like that. Speaker 1 (14:03) Oh, a California head to head. Or Speaker 2 (14:06) a team of that nature. And that Speaker 1 (14:07) does mean like chili season, loungewear season, football Sunday season is upon us. You have me like wanting to Speaker 2 (14:12) make a chili now. And now that I have my stovetop, I can. But now I have to make a brisket for Roche. Next week I'll make a chili. We're doing short ribs. For Roche? Speaker 1 (14:23) Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 (14:24) Your in-laws are doing short ribs. Speaker 1 (14:26) Yeah. Well, they asked me what I wanted and I said short Speaker 2 (14:27) ribs. Oh, you're like sort of in your short rib era. Speaker 1 (14:30) It's so good. It's like an alternative to brisket, but it's like the same thing. It's the same flavors. It's like, but it's much softer meat. I find it's very fatty. My father-in-law makes like the best recipe and Ben's recipe that's on his Instagram is like an interpretation of that. It's so good. Speaker 2 (14:45) The meat is a little fatty. There's not as much like meat. I think I'm going to go like first cut brisket. Whatever the fuck that means. Speaker 1 (14:56) Yeah. I have no idea. No idea. Speaker 1 (15:00) Shoulder. Oh, so glad you brought up first cup brisket. Huge news yesterday. What? Like the Upper East Side Jewish community was shaking. Guess who was spotted at the kosher grocer? Like so random. Speaker 2 (15:14) A Jew? Speaker 1 (15:16) No. Speaker 2 (15:17) Actually, no. Oh, but it was a maybe. That's a clue. Speaker 1 (15:21) No, no, no. And it's not. Hailey Bieber? No. Like, first of all, like total opposite. Like, you're never going to guess. But like, it was so random. Like everyone was talking about it. Big from Sex and the City. Oh, that's cool. He got pizza. And he was like sitting outside, like eating lunch. I feel like maybe he didn't know it was a kosher grocer and just like wanted pizza. Yeah. But he seemed to be enjoying it, according to my sources, Boots on the Ground. Speaker 2 (15:46) Oh, good. Speaker 1 (15:47) Yeah, it's Speaker 2 (15:48) great Speaker 1 (15:48) for the community. Speaker 2 (15:49) Yeah, that's exciting. It was. It was really exciting. We've got some things to discuss today. We do. So I think we can get into it. Speaker 1 (15:56) Oh, do Speaker 2 (15:56) we? Yeah, Speaker 1 (15:57) like, not Drek. I would say not Drek. And I just want to say, like, nothing was Drek-y about yesterday's episode. It's Speaker 2 (16:03) true. It's true. But just file under not Drek. Speaker 1 (16:07) What's this from? FYI, you did. What's that from? It's from Bring It On, like, seven with Hayden Panettiere. So good. And one of, like, Solange's friends is like, FYI, you did. I love that. I know that girl. What's her name? I love her. Actually, she's posted a TikTok. That's why she is, like, back in my consciousness. She posted a TikTok when Hayden Panettiere passed away. She, like, couldn't believe it. Ugh. Yeah. Such a good movie. And she's like a classic character from all of our shows growing up. Yeah. Speaker 2 (16:38) If you haven't seen that particular brain on, you should watch it. Speaker 1 (16:42) Actually, like, I think that if you were to watch it as a fully formed, like frontal lobe developed adult, you would say, what the fuck is this movie? Like, first of all. It's not okay. Like half the shit they say is insane. The crumping like is not okay. The whole movie is actually like deeply troublesome, but because it's like a core part of our childhood, we're like, oh yeah, that movie. But if you were to watch it now, you'd be like, what the fuck is this? No, Speaker 2 (17:10) I think it, I think it's still hits. Speaker 1 (17:13) It doesn't like, it doesn't. If you ever, right. If you've ever seen like clips out of context, you're like, wait, that movie was weird. Out of Speaker 2 (17:21) context. Speaker 1 (17:22) It's out of
