Speaker 3 (0:09) Jackson, Claude and Weaver show that they need to Speaker 2 (0:17) know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's the toast. They sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast and happy Wednesday. It is hump day. Don't forget to hump someone you love. And speaking of somebody I love, I'm joined by my co-host, my business partner and best friend, Jacqueline Vallee. Hey, how y'all doing? I am doing overwhelmed. Don't you feel like we have so much to talk about today? Like obviously Dancing with the Stars, obviously Taylor's new album. We didn't get to do Dear Toasters yesterday because it was the first episode back after a long weekend. So we push it to today. So we also have Dear Toasters today. It's kind of giving we should push it to tomorrow, but we won't. No, Speaker 3 (0:56) no, no, no. I'm actually glad that we have Toasters today because. I'm glad we have Toasters every day. We have Dancing with the Stars and we have Taylor's new album. And like, that's kind of all we have. And Speaker 2 (1:07) you know what? That's kind of all I need, you know? Yeah, yeah. No, but I think it's going to Speaker 3 (1:12) be like a slow three stories today, maybe. Speaker 2 (1:17) Then let me drop some. Speaker 2 (1:21) T in the PFFB, okay? Two things I want to say. Now, I know everybody's sick of me being cardboard, and I'm going to tell you guys something, and I'm going to preface by saying I know I can afford it, yada yada, but I just think conceptually what I paid for a pedicure yesterday is insane. And I guess I never notice because I never get just a pedicure. I always go manicure pedicure, but I didn't get a manicure. I only had time for one. And Speaker 3 (1:44) then you get a little massage and the bill wraps up, but you're like, Speaker 2 (1:46) I got Speaker 3 (1:46) a lot of services, so it costs money. Speaker 2 (1:49) And I wanted to relax yesterday on my phone. So I said, you know, let's get a pedicure. And you know, my toenails were starting to scratch my comforter. You know that feeling? Yeah. I got a dazzle dry pedicure. What do you think that should cost? $80. Speaker 3 (2:03) Oh my Speaker 2 (2:04) God. You're Speaker 3 (2:05) fucking crazy. Speaker 2 (2:08) $80. Speaker 2 (2:12) Well, you just sort of like took the wind from underneath my story because it was 49 and I was like $50 for a pedicure. Okay. $50 for a pedicure and Speaker 3 (2:22) dazzle dry. So that's like between. You do get a little bump. That's Speaker 2 (2:25) closer Speaker 3 (2:25) to gel. You know, you're paying for more. It's Speaker 2 (2:27) not closer to gel. You're Speaker 3 (2:28) paying for more premium polish. So $50 for a pedicure in New York City in 2026. Claudia, I really don't know how it gets better than that. Speaker 2 (2:38) I guess like, and conceptually, I do feel that pedicures, pedicures are an undervalued service because like this person's touching your nasty ass foot. Like, and I have nice feet, like relative to what I see at the salon. So I think that they've always been undercharging. But you know, I grew up where, you know, a manicure costs $10, sometimes eight. Yeah. Speaker 3 (2:56) Oh yeah. It was like, should we go to the place that's an $8 manicure or $11? Speaker 2 (3:00) And you know what? The times have changed. And I'm glad for the pedicures because that is a service that we should honestly all be paying $200 for. Like you would have to pay me $200 to touch your feet. Like, yeah. So I was just shocked that I got like one service. I guess I never get one service. So I really saw it all itemized out. And now I'm feeling like I shouldn't have shared the story because you said $80. No, but I Speaker 3 (3:19) think that speaks to really like the cardboard nature because. I guess, yeah. She's cardboarding too close to the sun. But Speaker 2 (3:26) one thing about me is I do not cardboard when it comes to tipping at the nail salon. I'm literally a Rockefeller. Speaker 3 (3:31) Yeah. Speaker 2 (3:32) I'm going 50, Speaker 3 (3:33) 60%. She's not going to accept those cheap allegations. I Speaker 2 (3:37) won't. I won't. The thing about cardboard is that it's not cheapness. Because I'm not stingy. I won't not pay for it. I'm just going to complain about it. It's more of a conceptual cheapness than a practical cheapness. Speaker 3 (3:50) I understand. Sure. Speaker 2 (3:52) And then the second T in the PFFB I wanted to drop. Speaker 3 (3:56) Yeah. Oh, Speaker 2 (3:57) really? I felt like we had such a great time. We had like the whole $80 joke. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You're welcome for contributing to the podcast in a meaningful way. The second piece of tea is actually tea, though. I feel that like something is sort of like, you know, we talk on the show. We have a bubble, you know? People listen. I feel like something has sort of like transcended the bubble. Yes. And I'd like to discuss it. Speaker 3 (4:20) I would like to discuss it as well. And especially watching Dancing with the Stars last night, like my experience was kind of ruined. Just like knowing that the Huff siblings like think we don't like them when you know historically, I'm a huge fan of Julianne Huff. Like nobody's a bigger Footloose fan than me. And Speaker 2 (4:37) I fear that. Unless you listened to the episode entirely, like you're sort of humorless about the whole thing because this clip went viral. We didn't clip it. There's like this account clipping our content, which I love, but like without context, I'm like coming for Jericho. And Speaker 3 (4:51) I want to see the account because I just heard about it in passing yesterday. Speaker 2 (4:55) It's an account that clips our hottest takes, which even we won't Speaker 3 (4:57) do. Speaker 2 (4:57) Well, Speaker 3 (4:57) I Speaker 2 (4:57) don't think it clips our hottest takes. It clips, it's like AI. It's clipping like all this shit. All of the takes are in there and there are a lot that are going viral from that. One of them being the Derek Hough piece. And so if you listen to the episode, like I was obviously kidding. Like Derek Hough is not my op. And I made him weenie because like he made me feel uncomfortable. Like it was a joke. But I guess this clip went so viral. I'm getting tagged like in so many Derek Hough things. People being like, this is like the sweetest man. And then Trisha Paytas talked about on her podcast, like also lacking complete context. And she has like this. not co-host, but like this guy who sits in the corner for episodes and he's like a journalist and he's like supposed to tell her all the facts. And he just like watched a clip. It's like, those aren't the facts, sir. So he's like gassing Trisha up being like, these girls are so annoying. I saw a small Speaker 3 (5:41) clip where it really seemed like she was like, I really don't want it. Like, I don't have any context here. Is this part of a joke? Is this part of a bit? Like, I don't know. Speaker 2 (5:50) It's almost like there's someone on her show whose job it is to provide the context. And Speaker 3 (5:53) she said that she likes us and that. essentially she's afraid of us and doesn't want to go there with us. And that works for me. That works perfectly for me. I Speaker 2 (6:03) feel the same way about Tricia. I want literally zero beef with you. I respect you actually a lot. We see each other. I'm like, we're good. But I feel that now it's getting blown up even more. Like I fear I need to repeat myself. I was kidding. It's a joke. It's a bit. Derek Huff is actually not my op like in this world. Yeah, we have like kind of a long storied history of being kind of like freaky fangirls of Julianne Hough. Remember when we like attacked her at that red carpet? I do. I tried to find the picture Speaker 3 (6:34) yesterday and it's not in my phone, which is devastating. So Speaker 2 (6:38) if that account could clip this to let like people outside of our show know, like we're not a bunch of like weenies. Like it was a joke. And Speaker 3 (6:46) you have to really. Watch all of the toast every day to understand our personalities and our segments. And if you're not doing that, like you can't adjudicate on a clip that you saw because you don't know what's in our hearts. It's Speaker 2 (6:58) so true. You don't know what's in our hearts. Oh yeah. And so that like really, that guy like totally hates us. The one who like sits in the corner of Trisha's podcast. And he was bringing up another clip that went viral from that account was our take on Ashley Dupre. Actually, that might've been one of our own clips. That was our own clip. And so he was just like, they are annoying and have the worst takes. It's like, you don't get it. You don't get it. No, you don't get it. I'm very proud Speaker 3 (7:19) of that. And you never will. And I feel like our. those of us in this generation feel that way. Speaker 2 (7:29) Yes. And you know, it's a women's issue. So why don't you stay the hell out of it? Well, I did feel like in large part, like not you coming into my female dominated pop culture space and telling me I'm annoying. Of course, not you trying to put us against Trisha Paytas. Oh yeah. Speaker 3 (7:43) Yeah. Speaker 2 (7:44) Yeah. Couldn't be me. I would never put a woman against another woman. You guys know, historically, I don't believe in that. Speaker 3 (7:48) Yeah. There's a lot of history here today that we need to dig up. Speaker 2 (7:52) Oh, yeah. Time to whip out the history books. Yeah. McGraw-Hill. No, I agree. I Speaker 3 (7:56) agree. We're like reaching people who don't know us and that's always very scary because they don't know what's in our hearts. And they only know like our Speaker 2 (8:02) kind of viral hot takes. Mm-hmm. Speaker 3 (8:04) Mm-hmm. But they don't know there's so much heart. There's so much heart behind them. Speaker 2 (8:08) Hot and heart. You know, they are obviously hot takes, but when they lack context and you kind of lack like us, knowing us, you're just missing out on the full experience of the toast and I feel sorry for that, of course. Yeah. Speaker 3 (8:22) However, if you saw all of it and you're here today checking us out, welcome. Welcome. Speaker 2 (8:28) Welcome to the Toast Podcast. Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome to the Toast Podcast. Speaker 3 (8:37) Also, major update for me, I don't know if you'll be able to see from there, but anything look different about me? Oh shit, let me see. Speaker 2 (8:44) You're showing me your hands. You're wearing your wedding ring? I'm wearing Speaker 3 (8:47) my wedding ring. Major Speaker 2 (8:48) postpartum mama milestone. Speaker 2 (8:52) asterisk. You Speaker 3 (8:53) got Speaker 2 (8:53) it. I got it resized so Speaker 3 (8:55) that I can wear it at more sizes, not just my bottom weight. And I feel like right now is actually a good time to get it resized because I'm sort of like mid. So it'll fit me going up and going down. It'll fit Speaker 2 (9:05) you small. It'll Speaker 3 (9:06) fit me on the way up and on the way down. I'm cracking Speaker 2 (9:08) up. Speaker 3 (9:09) So, and I actually didn't wind up like resetting it like I thought I was going to do because I just, I missed her. So like, let me live with her and let's see if I. want to still reset it in a few months or in a year or whatever. And then I also got a wedding band underneath because I didn't have one. Oh. That I like wore with my ring. So I'm just Speaker 2 (9:27) like. Speaker 3 (9:27) Ladies, she's off the market. Stay away. Sorry, fellas. Well, Speaker 2 (9:32) I feel that that's actually extremely relatable because everybody gets their wedding rings like at their skinniest. Like when you're at. Except for me. When you're starving Speaker 3 (9:39) for your Speaker 2 (9:39) wedding. I got my wedding. All my rings resized when I was like on Ozempic, which was a huge mistake. I just got so excited like about the potential of the future. None of my jewelry fits me and I'm not getting it resized again. I'm just not. And the thing is like, you can't wear the wedding ring on a different finger. Speaker 3 (9:57) Like other jewelry I can mix. If something I used to wear on my middle, I can wear on my ring or whatever. But this one invades me. You got one finger and my ring was tiny before. Like, yeah, Speaker 2 (10:11) it was a three and a quarter. That's insane. Cause like even at my skinniest, I was a five and a half. Speaker 3 (10:18) I just have small. Like hands, I guess. And what are they? Speaker 2 (10:23) They're just hands. And Speaker 3 (10:24) I just want to say now it's at four and a quarter. Speaker 2 (10:28) Okay, biggie. No, I'm kidding. Speaker 3 (10:30) And I still take pride in that number. Speaker 2 (10:33) Of course. Having little dainty hands. It's Speaker 3 (10:35) a little loose. Speaker 2 (10:36) Like. they say God doesn't pick favorites, but like people with skinny hands and people with fat hands, no matter what your physical size is, like you just, there are some skinny people who have huge sausage fingers and then like little, you know, people, people who have like little dainty, skinny, long nails. That is a chosen person. Like I have little wrists. I just want to say like, no matter how big I've gotten, I've always had like the tiniest little wrist. Speaker 3 (10:58) Yeah. Cause you are a small person. And Speaker 2 (11:00) like, that doesn't help me in any life, but like, it feels Speaker 3 (11:03) good. Speaker 2 (11:03) Yeah, it feels good Speaker 3 (11:04) to say I have small something. It's a small win for turt Speaker 2 (11:07) kind. A thousand percent. I'm happy for you. Speaker 3 (11:10) Thank you. I'm very excited. Like I missed it. I forgot what it's like. I'm like driving. And all the time that I've been driving is like when I've been a mom, so I haven't been wearing my ring. The Venn diagram is just two circles. And so it's like, it's distracting to drive with your ring on. Speaker 2 (11:24) Oh, clear the streets. The new drive, the student driver just got engaged. Beep, beep. Speaker 2 (11:32) Oh yeah, if you're new here, we also sing a lot and we sound really good. I think we all sing. And our fans love it. Speaker 3 (11:39) Oh, they say more, more, more. Speaker 2 (11:42) This is like when you transfer to a new school and you make up lines about yourself like Mitchie Torres from Camp Rock, how her mom is the president of Hot Tunes China. Yeah, we are also heiresses who do a lot of philanthropy. Yeah, for sure. Speaker 3 (11:55) And everyone just begs us to sing more, put out an album. It's Speaker 2 (12:00) exhausting. Speaker 3 (12:01) But we do our best. And Speaker 2 (12:03) we did put out like a body of work. It was huge in Japan. You might not know it, but we have like lots of fans in Japan. Speaker 3 (12:10) We definitely do. Speaker 2 (12:11) Do you got plans tonight? What happened to Shawn Mendes? I know you're obsessed with him. You should have Speaker 3 (12:17) him on the show. We could have him on Namesake. Oh, we have a cousin named Shawn. We do have a cousin named Shawn. I also realized last night we can have Harry Shum Jr. on Namesake. I'm okay. If you want. I didn't realize in week one that that's a Harry. Who else from. Speaker 2 (12:34) Did you realize that that's Speaker 3 (12:36) a Speaker 2 (12:36) Harry? I didn't. Because he's Harry Shum Jr. I Speaker 3 (12:38) know. But then last night I saw when they had that diner in the beginning, it was like a, they had the names like the Jenna apple pie or whatever. And it was like a Harry something. I'm like, there's a Harry on the show. Speaker 2 (12:48) Harry. Now. Speaker 3 (12:49) Who Speaker 2 (12:50) else from this season could be eligible for namesake? Bruno. Speaker 2 (12:57) Tonally only. Bruno tonally only. Speaker 3 (13:00) I meant Speaker 2 (13:00) more Speaker 3 (13:00) like the contestants. Listen, we've got to think big. Speaker 2 (13:05) Second, third cousins. Wait, Speaker 3 (13:09) hold on. Through marriage. We don't have a Jenna. By Speaker 2 (13:11) the Speaker 3 (13:11) way, Speaker 2 (13:11) think of your in-laws. Of Speaker 3 (13:12) course. I think of Speaker 2 (13:13) people related to Ben. We don't Speaker 3 (13:15) have a Jenna. Speaker 2 (13:17) No. So Speaker 3 (13:17) that's like half the cast. We don't have a Tyler. We don't have a Julia. We don't have a Sharna. We Speaker 2 (13:22) don't have an Ezra. Hold on. Wait, we don't have an Ezra? I'm thinking Ben. No. Speaker 3 (13:28) We don't have a Savannah. Speaker 2 (13:30) Bananas. We could have Jackson. Speaker 3 (13:33) We could have Jackson. We have Jackson. Because it's the male version of my name. Uh-huh. We don't have a Giada. Wait, Ben's great. No, I'm kidding. We don't have a Connor. We don't have a Riley. Oh, there's two Ezras. There is? Ezra Sosa and Ezra Fetch. Who's Ezra Sosa? Oh, I'm sorry. You're talking about Speaker 2 (13:54) pro. Okay, sorry. I got confused. Yeah. Speaker 3 (13:56) We don't have an Amber. We don't have a Guillermo. Speaker 2 (14:00) I wish we did. Yeah. Speaker 3 (14:02) Britt, Taylor, we have a Harry. We have a Mark. We have a cousin Mark. So we could have Mark Ballas on. I would love that. I've been meaning to chat with Mark Ballas. I've been meaning to get namesake off the ground. It's such a fantastic concept. We Speaker 2 (14:18) have like a lot of sort of secret projects in the work. We can't really take on another project. No, Speaker 3 (14:22) no, no. It's like, you know, one of my goals for when I have more time in my life, which like I will one day, you know, this is just a season. Speaker 2 (14:31) Of course. And there will be a namesake season. There will be a namesake Speaker 3 (14:35) season where I'm like, I want to take on more. I've got the time. More Speaker 2 (14:39) journalistic. Speaker 3 (14:40) No, like just more projects. Right now I'm sort of like at my limit in terms of like child rearing and Speaker 2 (14:46) work. Speaker 3 (14:47) But one day I think, you know, seasons change as they say. When we're Speaker 2 (14:51) empty nesters. It'll be the empty nest podcast. That's Speaker 3 (14:55) cute. Speaker 2 (14:56) Okay. Speaker 3 (14:57) Hopefully people are still Speaker 2 (14:58) listening. Yeah, Speaker 3 (14:59) yeah, please. We've got big plans for our retirement, so. There's no such thing. Correct. There's no such thing. So do you want to get into the stories? Because I feel like I want to talk about Dancing with the Stars and I want to talk about Laird.
