Speaker 1 (0:09) Jackson, Claude, and Speaker 1 (0:14) show the best Speaker 1 (0:17) to know we'll start your day off swirly it's the toast they Speaker 2 (0:22) sound amazing Welcome back to The Toast and happy Friday. I hope everybody's just sort of acknowledging the space that they're in and taking a look around and feeling immense gratitude for where we're at. Speaker 1 (0:33) It's exciting to be on a Friday. I have Speaker 2 (0:36) to tell you something. Speaker 1 (0:37) What? I'm so glad I forgot to tell you offline so I Speaker 2 (0:39) could Speaker 1 (0:39) tell you online. It's not Friday. Well, we might. When I went to sleep last night, I fully thought yesterday was Friday night. I was like, oh, Claudia, I wanted to send you something. But I was like, she's off her phone. It's Shabbat. I was like thinking about how I wonder how late I'll Speaker 2 (0:51) be Speaker 1 (0:51) able to sleep in. Speaker 2 (0:52) That's so funny. Thank God Speaker 1 (0:53) I remembered. Speaker 2 (0:54) Well, I feel that just like programming update is like we're probably going to have to start like exclusively talking about Dancing with the Stars on Patreon because like these pros, they like don't know how famous they are. They're all up in our comments. Ew. So yesterday we posted our clip about how you wanted to be paired up with Maxim. Yeah. And I said that would get you a beating. Who's in the comments? But his brother Val saying Max is the goat. So he didn't like cup bras or anything, but it's just like, I need to be able to express myself. Like I can't live like this. Or Speaker 1 (1:21) stop clipping Dancing with the Stars. Maybe, but it's so Speaker 2 (1:24) viral. It's Speaker 1 (1:24) viral. And like, that's what we want to talk about. But then yesterday I went and watched Max summon Meryl's winning. I don't know what it was. It was their contemporary dance, I guess. That's when everyone starts getting like lyrical and takes their shoes off. Speaker 2 (1:38) Yeah. And I think that also Speaker 1 (1:39) it's like a little bit, Speaker 2 (1:39) you get a little bit more creative. No, Speaker 1 (1:41) and they like all look naked. It's very Speaker 2 (1:43) Abby Lee. Speaker 1 (1:44) It's very like. Speaker 2 (1:45) Yes, yes, exactly. So Speaker 1 (1:47) everyone said I need to watch Max and Meryl. Meryl was the figure skater, right? Speaker 1 (1:52) And I realized I don't think I can do Dancing with the Stars. That's what I've been saying. No, not for like they were so like intimate. They literally were like kissing at the end. I Speaker 2 (2:02) know. They Speaker 1 (2:03) were kissing, Claudia. No, Speaker 2 (2:04) I know. And it's like I thought that with like Riley and Fibula. And they're not married individuals. A thousand percent. And you just it's kind of like how when you're an actor, you have to be comfortable kissing other people. I feel like that guy Speaker 1 (2:13) from Desperate Housewives. A thousand percent. I can't do Dancing with the Stars because it's like inappropriate to my marriage. Speaker 2 (2:18) Yeah, like people can't be normal. Speaker 1 (2:20) No. You can't just be like a Speaker 2 (2:21) dance partner relationship. It's like so intimate. It Speaker 1 (2:24) was not normal the way that they were touching each other. And then I also realized whenever they do the judges scores and everything, like the two partners are standing there like clutching each other for dear life. Speaker 2 (2:32) Get off me. 1,000%. Don't Speaker 1 (2:35) touch Speaker 2 (2:35) me. The lack of personal space is definitely something you would struggle with in addition to all the other. And you Speaker 1 (2:41) have to constantly be hugging your partner and like holding them for dear life. And if you're not, like Speaker 2 (2:45) the fans really start to think like there's something wrong or you guys are hating each other. Like there are so many theories. Due to the Speaker 1 (2:49) physical touch, Speaker 2 (2:51) I Speaker 1 (2:51) cannot participate. It's Speaker 2 (2:53) true. Because, Speaker 1 (2:54) you know, I'm like that woman from 30 Rock that Alec like is dating for a second where like if you like touch her, she like bruises. Yeah. When they go to the art gallery and stuff. She's just like very fragile. That's me. She couldn't do Dancing with the Stars. Neither could I. We Speaker 2 (3:08) all have our reasons for why we couldn't do Dancing with the Stars. Because Speaker 1 (3:12) I was Speaker 2 (3:12) starting Speaker 1 (3:12) to think, you know, like I find Fibula to be an inspiration. Speaker 2 (3:15) Podcasters on Dancing with the Stars. Speaker 1 (3:16) Yeah. And I really felt like my. barrier to entry would be like the physical element no no like having young children and like the logistics Speaker 2 (3:24) continuing to complete Speaker 1 (3:26) my sentence yeah but that's what you're saying schedule right the logistics of like getting out there like do i like if especially if i did it when they're older do they go to school there like i i no i thought that was going to be the most complicated part but no alas Speaker 2 (3:38) there's a weirdness and like we're all just supposed to like with hollywood like we're supposed to be like this is normal it's not the marijuana to the point that i was like were they dating when they Well, that's why there's rumors about every single person. Like half the time they're true and half the time they're not. Yeah, Speaker 1 (3:52) I could see why people might have thought. And the comments were saying, oh my God, remember when we shipped them so hard? I don't know if they were married when they were both. They're both married with children now. But I hope they were single for what they were doing. And Speaker 2 (4:03) now you do understand like why Brooks sort of like had no choice but to start dating Gleb. Speaker 1 (4:08) Yeah. Speaker 2 (4:09) It's kind of like a forced marriage. Like you're just thrown into these sort of stressful. So all that to say, like, I need the Dancing with the Stars pro to like respectfully like respect our creative process. Speaker 1 (4:19) What I need them to do is watch all shows that we talk about them. Because like if Derek just watches the clips or just hears a soundbite, like he's going to think that we're haters. And maybe it's unclear if you are or you aren't. Speaker 2 (4:31) I'm still working through my thoughts. But at this present moment, I'm not. Speaker 1 (4:35) But like overall, we're huge fans of the show, of them, like of everything. We can't stop talking about it. We're fans. And I just feel like that's not coming through. No, we're getting like, Speaker 2 (4:45) hatericious reputations. And like, we're not. Speaker 1 (4:48) It's just so hard with the clips. I Speaker 2 (4:50) know, but like we do what we have to do for the sake of virality, you know? Speaker 1 (4:54) Yeah, but at the expense of our relationships. And then say we ever do get cast on Dancing with the Stars. There's going Speaker 2 (4:58) to be no one left. Speaker 1 (4:59) How are you going to look at Derek in the eye? He's obviously going to judge you poorly. Speaker 2 (5:02) Well, he judges everyone poorly. And hopefully he can remember my name. We didn't even discuss that Derek again this week called Tyler Cameron Dillon. Speaker 1 (5:08) It wasn't a bit? No. Speaker 2 (5:09) I Speaker 1 (5:09) thought it was a bit. Speaker 2 (5:10) It was giving. He caught it so quickly, but he still did it. That's how I interpreted it. Speaker 1 (5:16) Crazy. Speaker 2 (5:17) Genuinely offensive. Speaker 1 (5:18) It's also crazy that Dylan Afron went so far last season, considering he's no better than like a Tyler Cameron or a Fibula. No, he was like dance wise, like he was better. But it's a testament to Daniela. It's a testament to Daniela. Speaker 2 (5:32) Once you're Speaker 1 (5:33) a Speaker 2 (5:33) true Dancing with the Stars fan, you know it's all about the pro. It's all about the pro. And that's what people used to say to me all the time. And I'm like, I'm sure it is. Speaker 1 (5:40) Me too. I'm like, I don't care about pro drama. I'm here for the stars. Speaker 2 (5:43) They're like, don't you want to know what happened? But I'm like, no, actually, I don't care about these people. But you know what? I do. And it is all about the pros. Speaker 1 (5:50) It is. And it's the pros sort of make or break. Speaker 2 (5:54) Yeah. So I guess we'll have to clip this because that was hilarious. It's Speaker 1 (5:58) all Speaker 2 (5:58) about the pros. And just know if we do, we're not haters. No, Speaker 1 (6:04) we're huge fans. We're loving our time with the show. It's been a joy and you guys are immensely talented. Thank you for all that you do. Speaker 2 (6:11) Especially the girls who like do it pregnant. Speaker 1 (6:13) Oh, yeah. Another inclusive element of the show. It's crazy. Speaker 1 (6:20) Have you been seeing this clip going around of Ezra Frech when he was a youngster on Ellen? Speaker 2 (6:25) Of course. Now I have chills at the thought of my king being on Ellen in that toxic environment. The Speaker 1 (6:29) couple seconds that I watched, she seemed lovely. Speaking Speaker 2 (6:32) of kids on Ellen, please tell me you saw that video. It's really upsetting. What? So there was a kid about the piano prodigy. So he's grown now, but there was a kid who was like one of those kids who was on Ellen a lot. He was like an insane piano prodigy. I think he like went to Juilliard when he was like six. Speaker 2 (6:48) He's now releasing all this footage. I guess his mom has passed away, but his mom was insanely abusive to get him to that level. It was his Juilliard audition, and he released the full video of his mother screaming at him, berating him like an animal. And he's sitting there crying. It went so viral. It was all over my TikTok. It was so upsetting. And it turns out this great kid who we were all like, oh, so cute. Look, he's Speaker 1 (7:10) on Speaker 2 (7:10) Ellen. He was literally being abused like crazy. It was really upsetting. Speaker 1 (7:13) What is he doing now? Speaker 2 (7:15) I'm not sure. Speaker 1 (7:15) Does he still play piano? Speaker 2 (7:16) I hope so. Speaker 1 (7:18) Yeah, but like, he probably hates it. Sometimes he makes you hate Speaker 2 (7:20) the thing. Yeah, of course. He probably hates it. Of course. Speaker 1 (7:22) That's really sad. No, I didn't see that. But you saw Ezra. Was on Ellen, yes. As a youngster. Speaker 2 (7:27) Yeah, and I guess like that's where he should have been, of course. And she seemed to be being kind to him. She was kind to most of the kids. Who was she rude to? Mason Ramsey. Speaker 1 (7:35) Yes. And Speaker 2 (7:35) Dakota Johnson, of course. Speaker 1 (7:37) And she was rude to everyone backstage. Of Speaker 2 (7:39) course. Slapping the producers left and right. But. But most of the time she hid it well. Yes, especially like under the guise of like, look at me and these children. But Speaker 1 (7:48) it Speaker 2 (7:48) got really bad when like there Speaker 1 (7:50) were episodes when it was, she was being nasty. Sometimes Speaker 2 (7:53) she forgot like that her nastiness was exclusively for behind the scenes. Her mask was slipping. Yeah, and Mason Ramsey, she like couldn't help but hide her like extreme distaste of him. Yeah, like she just thought he was like dumb and like ugly. Like she really like did not do a good job of hiding it. Speaker 1 (8:08) Yeah, but maybe that's why like he is where he is. Speaker 2 (8:10) Well, hopefully Ezra had a good experience on the show. Speaker 1 (8:13) Yeah. I didn't watch the whole clip. No, but he was like a cutie. And he had like this. If you're going to be rude to a paraplegic child, like go to hell. To jail. Like Speaker 2 (8:20) seriously go to jail. Speaker 1 (8:22) Yeah. That Speaker 2 (8:23) should be like an official misdemeanor. A Speaker 1 (8:25) crime. Speaker 2 (8:26) Crime. What's bigger than a misdemeanor? Speaker 2 (8:31) You plead something down to him, a felony. It should be a felony. It should be felonious. Felonious Florida. That's us now. Yes. Because Speaker 1 (8:39) now like if we were naming, if we were starting our podcast now, we were naming it and we're like just today, like being felonious in Florida. When Speaker 2 (8:47) Jackie and I launched, relaunched our show, The Morning Toast, we were so excited. There was so much hype. We were climbing the charts. We were number two for like days. We could not beat this other show. It was called Felonious Florida and it became like sort of. like are smartless now. What happened to that show? It was Speaker 1 (9:03) like a one season wonder. And this always happens with new podcasts. And this was a big one because it was just like a mini series. But whenever a new podcast launched, like especially if it is with the network or whatever, like it will automatically go to number one because that's like how trending works. And we just like couldn't crack the show that. Because of those felons in Florida. Done nothing since. Speaker 2 (9:21) And made no impact at the time either. Nothing like we've made. Oh my Speaker 1 (9:24) God. Fucking felonious Florida. So we never got to be number one. Speaker 2 (9:29) And that's like why we do have this ship on our shoulders if you guys are ever trying to understand like where we're coming from. But Speaker 1 (9:34) I think it's so important that we've never been number one and that we never are. It keeps us hungry. Speaker 2 (9:38) Like Speaker 1 (9:38) I've said, like I would always rather be like number two through 12. Like I think that's where you have peace. And I think like to Speaker 2 (9:46) get to the place where you are number one, it requires great sacrifice. Like kind of I'm like not willing to do. No, Speaker 1 (9:52) no, no. And at the cost of your personal life. Yeah. So I think it's great. We'll stay seated at number two. When we were talking about tennis players, like when we were talking about Taylor and Tommy. Right, right, right. Like Taylor's higher ranked, but I wouldn't want that. No. Number 10 is good enough for me. It's Speaker 2 (10:06) beautiful. Number 10 in the Speaker 1 (10:08) world, fine. I'll Speaker 2 (10:09) take it. I'll Speaker 1 (10:10) take it. So that's how I feel about the charts, truly, truly. Speaker 2 (10:13) Well, what are the stories? Sure, sure. What are the stories like today, number two? Speaker 1 (10:18) The stories are a mixed bag. In a positive sense? Yeah, I think so. I wouldn't use the D word. The dreck? I would not call them dreck. Okay. Not at all. I would call them like a mixed bag of fun. Okay, Speaker 2 (10:32) Alexis Rose. That was so Alexis Rose. A mixed bag of fun. Let's Speaker 1 (10:36) do Speaker 2 (10:36) it. Speaker 1 (10:36) You want to get into it? Yeah. Without further. I'm Speaker 2 (10:38) battling some flu-like symptoms in case you guys can't tell. Oh, Speaker 1 (10:40) yeah. That's good. I hate to complain about it. No, Speaker 2 (10:42) but Speaker 1 (10:42) it's good to let everyone know in case they're feeling some sort of way from you. Oh, Speaker 2 (10:45) am I cutting off like negative or anything? No, Speaker 1 (10:46) I think you're Speaker 2 (10:46) hiding it well. I'm. Battling flu-like symptoms. They know Speaker 1 (10:49) you better than you know yourself. Speaker 2 (10:50) It's true. I'm really not well. I hate not coming. The thing is, I have an amazing, amazing job. And I just need to do the one thing every day. I hate to call in sick. Ben was like, I'll do it. I'll do it. Sure you will. And he could. I'm sure he would love to. Come over here and promote the good guys. The Speaker 1 (11:04) one Speaker 2 (11:04) slunge. But I hate to miss. Speaker 1 (11:06) Yeah. Speaker 2 (11:07) So I will just have to bring my negative energy to the show. But just letting you guys know, if you're reading into anything, I'm really not feeling good. You'll probably hear I'm a little hoarse. Speaker 1 (11:15) I'm sick. Speaker 2 (11:16) And being pregnant and sick is dreadful because right now all I really need is to Advil. Like it would, I've got a headache, I've got a backache and I've got a sore throat. Like an Advil would seriously, like I imagine would do for me like what heroin does for other people. Like I just. And I can't take it. And so I'm getting desperate. Ben's doing pressure points on my thumb for a sore throat. God, you're Speaker 1 (11:35) back alley chiropractor. So Speaker 2 (11:37) Ben is really into like Eastern medicine. And most of the time I roll my eyes at it, of course. But when I'm pregnant, like I kind of have no other option. Like sure. You have to look eastward. Break my thumb this morning because apparently it is a pressure point for a sore, dry throat. It didn't help, but I'm open to these types of things now. Have Speaker 1 (11:53) you seen this? Kira, it's probably like six weeks out. But have you seen like the garlic and honey thing? Speaker 2 (12:00) Are you on that Speaker 1 (12:01) side of the talk? I think Them Hoppers does it. What Speaker 2 (12:04) do you do? Speaker 1 (12:04) So it's like you make a jar, like peel, I don't know, fill up a mason jar with peeled garlic. Pour in honey. You like turn it over and let it ferment for six weeks. Speaker 2 (12:14) Okay, so I don't have six weeks, but okay. You don't Speaker 1 (12:16) have six weeks. And then it's like a natural remedy. Speaker 2 (12:19) You eat the garlic? Speaker 1 (12:21) I don't think you eat, you drink like the honey. You pour it in a cup. Like you pour it. Yucky. I'm going to make it for you. I'll see you in six weeks. See you. Thanks so much. You know what? I've Speaker 2 (12:29) seen it so many times Speaker 1 (12:30) now. Speaker 2 (12:30) And what if you're Speaker 1 (12:31) not Speaker 2 (12:31) sick in six weeks? Like it could last longer. No, it's like, Speaker 1 (12:34) oh yeah, it lasts longer. It will be ready in minimum six weeks. But you do it at the start of like flu season or like say we did it in September or anytime and you just always have it on hand if you're like a prepared person. I Speaker 2 (12:45) didn't proactively make my jarred garlic. Sorry. Speaker 1 (12:47) It's okay. I'll make it for you. I'm working on a loaf for you as well. Speaker 2 (12:50) Yes, yes. I have a lot of things I need from you. Jackie will also be doing the ads today, so make sure to pay attention because I don't have the energy to do them. I Speaker 1 (12:57) will do the ads today, and I'm going to have a feast with them. Speaker 2 (13:00) So should we show everyone that feast? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Speaker 1 (13:07) Without further ado, it's time for the Fast Side Stories that you need to know. Today's episode of The Toast is brought to you by Amazon MGM Studios and their new movie Verity. So from Amazon MGM Studios comes Verity, based on the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett. So we... Love this book. Everyone loves this book. But if you haven't read it or
