Speaker 4 (0:01) I'm Lindsay Chrisley, a Southern girl, a proud boy mom, and someone figuring it out one day at a time. Join me each week as we dive into honest conversations about motherhood, relationships, family, personal growth, and everything in between. Expect real talk, genuine laughter, thoughtful perspectives, and conversations that remind us we're all learning as we go. Because at the end of the day, the best conversations are the ones that we have together. Speaker 5 (0:29) Good Speaker 4 (0:29) morning Speaker 5 (0:29) and welcome back to another episode of The Southern Tea. It is Saturday for us and Clemson already won last night after their 1030 game. So I'm excited and not stressed today. So we have not talked on the podcast since before my birthday. And we went to a dinner place that I regularly, and I don't even want to say this, but I'm going to say it. because I feel like it was a God wink. We went to a place for dinner that I used to regular with David all the time and never had a bad experience at this restaurant ever in like years. And we went there, celebrated my birthday at what, like seven or something on that Friday night. Literally the only thing that we got, which could not have possibly been. screwed up was caviar tater tots. I feel like any tater tot has to be from a frozen section. So that was the only thing that we got that was not screwed up. Hunter steak came out gray and made me very alarmed and I was just ready to go. Um, my birthday was great. It was very casual, um, very low key, I feel like. And that was pretty much it. I'm honestly ready for 2026 to be over. Lots of things are in the pipeline. I got some good news this week. And then also I have to be in court on Thursday this week. So sucks to be me. Outside of that, the week's been pretty good. Yesterday I posted, when you guys see this, it'll be like... days away but yesterday I posted a photo of Hunter's window being broken out of his car and I had not had wi-fi for two days but we had a string of storms come through our area and so I just thought I'm really not good at technology like that's something that Kale and I have in common to do what we do for work and to not be good at technology is actually mind-boggling to me Speaker 5 (2:41) However, I didn't have Wi-Fi for two days and was just trying to stream either the Golden Palace or the Nanny and I could not get it to work. And all of my TVs in this house are smart TVs. Like they operate off of Wi-Fi. I do not have any service like for any type of cable network, nothing, only streaming services. So I was on my TV trying to figure out like if I press it enough times. Or as my nanny says, mashed it. My dad says, you mash potatoes. You don't, you press buttons, you mash potatoes. I felt like if I mashed it enough times that it would just be like, okay, your Wi-Fi is back up and running. Like it's girl math, you know? And it just was not working. So Hunter came over and was like, okay, I'm going to troubleshoot this. We could not get it to work. tried to set an appointment. I don't understand how people do work from home jobs that require Wi-Fi. And if people say, okay, well, you can use a hotspot. The hotspot does not have enough like oomph to get you where you need to go to get something done. It was taking me like 10 minutes to even send out an email. So I don't know how people have work from home jobs. And then companies like Xfinity, and it's not to call them out, but companies like Xfinity, and this happened when we tried to have T-Mobile internet too. Like that was terrible. I do not understand how they think that you should be without Wi-Fi for four days. And they think that that is absolutely normal. And when I call and I'm like, hey, I need an appointment for a sooner time. They're like, well, you know. The rest of our appointments are booked out until October. Excuse me? I was supposed to go without internet until October. Also, Jackson came back from his cruise. And so I was picking him up and he decided he was going to have a sleepover. So I'm like, okay, two teenage boys in this house without Wi-Fi sounds like a disaster to me. So I'm out trying to go to an Xfinity store to literally live on a prayer that it is the modem. So he hooks me up with a new modem, lowers my monthly bill $25. I'm like, you know what Xfinity, I really love you. Like we're, we're in the same place now. Um, lowers the monthly bill $25 gives me the new modem. He's like, you've got more gigs or something. It should, should operate fine. Just go home, plug it up, go through your app, set it up. It'll be great. Actually, it ended up being great. However, when I was walking to the car with said new modem, And I was like, hey, I'm on my way home with a modem so you can set it up. And he was like, well, yeah. So Hunter tells me that Jackson broke the back window of his car out with a basketball, which when I left the house, Jackson was playing basketball in the driveway. So I was like, wait, you've got to be kidding me. And he was like, no, I'm going to send you a picture. And I'm like, no, but for real, like, are you kidding me? I get said picture. Number one, it's not the back window. It's. like one of the side back door windows and it looks shattered as hell. Like it looks like somebody took a golf club, like a golf club carry under wood style and bashed Speaker 4 (6:05) out the window. And I'm like, okay, I get home. None of that has happened. None of that. Speaker 5 (6:11) AI is actually the devil y'all. Like some of the things that I've seen on AI. So one time I was like interested in this man. And I had been traveling and I was a part of a friend group chat and I start seeing all of these AI photos show up, but I did not realize they were AI. They were like putting these hot girls into the photos. And I was like, I'm exiting the group chat right now immediately. Like I'm all the way in Baltimore and y'all are out doing some random shit with these beautiful girls. Like what? So many things developed over this last week, and I don't know if it was because I was doom scrolling. Like, I really don't know. But the amount of screenshots that I sent to Madison to put on a document to make sure that I remember to talk about them. I don't know if anybody else has been watching this story unfold, but essentially it was about a surrogate. And she carried this baby for a family, and they decided they wanted the baby aborted. Speaker 5 (7:20) The couple was out of the state of California and the baby in utero was diagnosed with. a serious heart condition and the biological parents wanted the pregnancy terminated and she wouldn't. So she has absolutely refused to terminate this pregnancy. She then went to the state of Texas, gave birth to the baby boy. The baby survived the heart surgery and was in a Texas ICU. The surrogate mom decided that she wanted to fight the biological parents because they wanted the baby aborted. She wanted to fight the biological parents and did not want the baby to be able to be transferred back to the state of California and asked the U.S. Supreme Court to step in because she feared for any type of continued care for this child, which I think is valid because if they wanted the baby aborted, they're like, okay, it has an extreme heart condition. we are the parents, you are the surrogate, we want to abort said baby, I could see why she would have valid concern. You're saying no. That is not kidnapping. I understand it's their child and it is their child that she is carrying. But at the same time, should that not have been vetted prior to her being selected as the surrogate? Because what if she just like... politically or biblically does not believe in abortion. So is she supposed to at that point, if that wasn't a vetted situation, is she supposed to then at that point go against her moral standards? Well, evidently there wasn't because she filed something with the U.S. Supreme Court. Speaker 5 (9:17) The Texas Supreme Court rejected her attempt to stop the transfer, and the baby is now expected to be moved from the Texas ICU to an ICU in Los Angeles and returned to his biological parents. She had filed the emergency request to the U.S. Supreme Court, and that was also rejected, which means the biological parents who wanted to abort the baby will have custody of the boy. That's kind of like me. One person wanted to abort me, and one person didn't. And I found out when I was an adult. And I'm like, how do you remedy with that? Like, thank you for the life, but also kind of fuck you. You know, like, how do you apparently like one person wanted to one person didn't. And another third party stepped in in that situation and was like, if you do that, essentially, I'm done with you for the rest of your life. So the decision was made to carry me and get pregnant so that I wasn't born out of wedlock. And then it was like never talked about again until I was of age. And one person was like, oh, well, I have the phone book with the handwriting in it with the clinics circled if you want to see it. And I'm like, who keeps yellow pages? I don't know. I think when there is a situation where things have been so contentious. That maybe somebody wanted to feel like a sense of validation. And maybe that's why. But I mean, that's a long grudge to hold. 18 years, right? But I don't know. Like, I know how you're feeling about this. And I understand like biologically the child belongs to them. But at the point that they wanted to abort the baby, there had to have not been anything in said contract for her to be able to file this stuff, be able to continue to carry the stuff, to be able to continue to carry the baby. Like there had to have been something. Speaker 4 (11:08) Fall feels like the perfect time for a reset. I always do a major fall reset and it makes me feel so good. You better make sure that contract says that I don't have any issues with something like this before we ever entered a contract like that, because I would say no. Speaker 3 (13:14) It absolutely would. Like, fuck Speaker 5 (13:16) you for that. Speaker 3 (13:17) Here's the truth, though, is that I don't, like, I don't even want to get into that context about abortion. But, like, I don't, I, we wouldn't do that no matter what, right? So, and you know that about us. But also there would definitely be some very substantial things in that contract that you and I have discussed that would be obligatory. Speaker 5 (13:37) Yeah. Speaker 3 (13:38) Before we ever did that. Speaker 5 (13:41) But I mean, I also feel like it's kind of the way that I'm looking at this is, okay, like a custody case. Speaker 4 (13:50) If Speaker 5 (13:50) a child needs an attorney, Speaker 4 (13:52) you're going to bring in a guardian ad litem for... that child is Speaker 5 (13:56) the surrogate essentially that for the child on behalf of like carrying them does that make sense it Speaker 3 (14:05) does but I don't know because I mean was I think there's so much that's the background of this story like was this done through a surrogacy company was this just some Was it like a like a black market surrogate where they just meet somebody and they're like, hey, I would like you to carry my baby. I feel like there's a lot that goes into play with that. Speaker 5 (14:23) It's like I need to know more. Like at what point did they ask her to terminate? Because she would have then continued to carry the baby, birth the baby. The baby goes into a surgery like who determined was it like a medical necessity that the baby had to go into the surgery. So the hospital determines that like. I don't know. I am. Mind blown. Speaker 3 (14:45) It's mind blowing. And could you imagine spending, I mean, surrogacy is upwards of $200,000. I Speaker 5 (14:51) know it's crazy. Speaker 3 (14:52) So with that being said, who gets the medical bills? Who gets all of that? Because technically that is their child. Speaker 5 (15:00) So Speaker 3 (15:00) you're going against what they're saying and doing what you need to do morally, but you're also hired for a service. You know what I mean? But Speaker 5 (15:10) this child essentially, when I'm... reading the little bits that we know of this story, this child was born with an adverse, I think it's called adverse childhood experience, that this has been all over the news and you can't delete the internet, right? So what is this child going to think about its parents? Speaker 3 (15:32) Who knows? Speaker 5 (15:33) If it survives. And completely other news. I was following this story about a Louisiana teacher. She was sentenced to 41 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple serious sex crimes involving children, including admitting that she gave students cupcakes that had been contaminated with her husband's semen. Speaker 3 (15:58) What the fuck? Speaker 5 (16:00) Says that she was 36 at the time of her sentencing, was a former teacher at a junior high school. So we're talking like middle school age students. And the case came to light after investigators uncovered evidence involving her husband and crimes committed against children. According to the court records and the reports on the case, she pled guilty to second degree rape, production of child sexual abuse material, and conspiracy to mingle harmful substance. Speaker 5 (16:32) Conspiracy to mingle harmful substances as part of her plea agreement. Prosecutors dropped 68 of the 72 charges that she had been facing. One of the allegations was preparing cupcakes contaminated with her husband's semen and providing them to students at the school. The case was a part of a much larger investigation involving sexual abuse and other crimes against children. Speaker 3 (16:58) What is wrong with our world? What happened to... I Speaker 5 (17:03) mean, I think about like when I was in elementary school and middle school, I thought, and I mean, maybe it's just jaded, but I always thought like my teachers were like the pinnacle of society, right? Like they could do no wrong. they were the best. And like, if you listen to them that you were probably going to be a lawyer one day. Speaker 3 (17:26) I mean, genuinely, that's what they're there for. Right? Like, that's what Speaker 5 (17:29) I thought growing up. Speaker 3 (17:30) Yeah. I always liked all of my teachers except my science ones, no shade. But you know what I mean? It's like. For them to, for you to put all of that trust in them as a parent and as a student, for them to turn around and find out that her husband is into a cup and baking it into cupcakes is insane. So Speaker 5 (17:51) one time, Kale and I did a foul play on coffee combos. And it was about a man who would jizz into like a mason jar. Speaker 3 (18:05) I hate that word. Speaker 5 (18:07) It's so foul, but he would jizz into a mason jar, seal it and put it underneath the sink in the kitchen. And when he would make pancakes for his wife, he Speaker 4 (18:17) would take that jar of cum out and mix it into said pancakes. Speaker 5 (18:23) It's like giving that. And I'm not saying that as humans, like we should be held at a different standard based off of age or something, but like you're doing this to fucking children. Speaker 3 (18:34) We should be held to a different standard based off of age. Speaker 5 (18:37) Like, this is actually, well, a woman's husband shouldn't be jizzing into a jar and mixing it into fucking pancakes. Speaker 3 (18:45) Unless she's into that type of stuff. Speaker 5 (18:48) No, the write-in was that she didn't know. And, like, she found out. Speaker 3 (18:53) Do you remember, like, Limp Bizkit's? Speaker 4 (18:56) Limp Bizkit. Speaker 5 (18:57) Like... No, no, no. Speaker 3 (18:59) So there was like a thing that was in the 90s and it was called a Limp Bizkit. And it would be like... Speaker 5 (19:03) Oh, not the band. Speaker 3 (19:04) ...a fraternity hazing thing. No. And all these guys would basically circle jerk onto a biscuit and whoever came last or came first had to eat it. Speaker 1 (19:13) Our Speaker 3 (19:14) world is demented. And I don't understand... So like I'm very progressive in a lot of ways, right? But there are certain things that I think are just black and white. Right? Like, it is just either a positive thing or it is... Speaker 5 (19:31) If you could get popped with a felony offense for spitting on somebody, Speaker 3 (19:37) like Speaker 5 (19:38) in a heated altercation... Speaker 3 (19:40) Also foul. Speaker 5 (19:42) Somebody did that to me one time. Speaker 3 (19:43) Spat on you? Speaker 5 (19:45) Yes! I Speaker 3 (19:46) remember this. I remember this. But you handled... Speaker 5 (19:49) Spit on me! Speaker 3 (19:51) I remember. And Speaker 5 (19:52) I said... Speaker 5 (19:55) You have got me fucked up. Speaker 3 (19:57) Right. Speaker 5 (19:57) That is insane. But if you can get a felony charge for spitting on somebody, like what class felony is literally lacing children's cupcakes with sperm? Like what logically went through your gourd when... You were like, I'm going to make these kids cupcakes and I want you to go and come in a cup so I can mix it in when I put the other liquids. Also, Speaker 3 (20:29) what a demented couple that they would both be okay with doing it. Speaker 5 (20:33) I just want to know how somebody knew that they did it. Speaker 3 (20:36) I wonder, I mean, STDs? Speaker 5 (20:38) Surely not. Well, Speaker 3 (20:40) good God, how else do you find out? I mean, it's not like she's bragging like, Hey, my Speaker 5 (20:43) husband came all over these Speaker 3 (20:45) cupcakes. I mean, wouldn't they cook out? Wouldn't the Speaker 5 (20:45) STDs cook out? Speaker 3 (20:47) I don't know how that works. Speaker 5 (20:48) Like, the temperature rises enough? Speaker 3 (20:51) Maybe. It's Speaker 5 (20:52) kind of like when you use wine to, like... cook in sauce or something gross Speaker 3 (20:58) let's not isn't that the Speaker 5 (20:59) same cooking Speaker 3 (21:00) down wine spaghetti no thank you cooking Speaker 5 (21:03) down wine and spaghetti and cooking down cum in a cupcake I feel like once it reaches a certain temperature it's kind of like when cum hits the air well Speaker 3 (21:12) let's start like in cupcakes cupcakes is disgusting Speaker 5 (21:15) yeah so I saw that and I was like and the sad thing is Is I'm looking at the picture of the people and they look relatively normal. Like if I went in and met this teacher, like on Meet the Teacher, I probably would never think twice. To Speaker 3 (21:34) be fair, though, you've been burned by quite a few teachers. So I feel like you always go in a little guarded. Speaker 5 (21:38) Well, I mean, true. Speaker 3 (21:39) Yeah. I Speaker 5 (21:40) mean, this is true. Outside of that, I saw another article and you're like, okay, well, I'm changing my career after I tell you this. It says, this was on People Magazine, a 30-year-old woman quits her law career to walk dogs. She now makes thousands more a year
