Speaker 4 (0:00) y'all it's Lindsay. I just wanted to note a quick disclaimer that we did have some technical difficulties with this episode. There were storms in our area so I'm not sure if that's what it was. Never had this issue before with this equipment but my team did the best that they could to get this episode live so I am sorry about any audio issues that you guys may hear. I hope you still enjoy the episode. Speaker 4 (0:23) I'm Lindsay Chrisley, a Southern girl, a proud boy mom, and someone figuring it out one day at a time. Join me each week as we dive into honest conversations about motherhood, relationships, family, personal growth, and everything in between. Expect real talk, genuine laughter, thoughtful perspectives, and conversations that remind us we're all learning as we go. Because at the end of the day, the best conversations are the ones that we have together. Speaker 4 (0:50) Good morning, but good afternoon, and welcome to another episode of The Southern Tea. I have Uncommon Karen sitting with me, my arguably biggest hater. Love this for me. Speaker 3 (1:03) Hi. Hi. So glad you got to meet me. Speaker 4 (1:07) So, I'm so glad that I can make time for you. Speaker 3 (1:13) Absolutely. I Speaker 4 (1:14) would love to know about how you got into TikTok and why. Speaker 3 (1:20) So in 2020, when I went traveling, everybody's like, download it. It'll be a time passer. So I did. And did a couple videos. Then after that. Speaker 4 (1:29) Then you started talking shit about me. Speaker 3 (1:31) Yeah. Speaker 4 (1:32) Yeah. And Speaker 3 (1:33) then in 2021, my son got into a wreck. And so it was really bad. And so I did a video with a sound and like recorded him in the hospital and vent and stuff. And I woke up the next morning with like 20 something thousand followers. And I was like. Speaker 4 (1:45) That's crazy. Speaker 3 (1:46) Didn't think nothing about it then. He always tells me you're welcome. And then from then on, I just kind of, if I would have realized monetizing back then was a big thing, I would have done it sooner. But I just, I don't know. So that's basically how it all got started. Speaker 4 (2:00) So off of his rec. Speaker 3 (2:02) That's why he tells me you're welcome. Speaker 4 (2:04) That's crazy. Under Speaker 3 (2:05) that, 20 something thousand, I was like. Speaker 4 (2:06) But you report on, I won't say a lot of people, but you report on segments of people. Yes. Right? So coffee, convos, Southern tea, Chrisley stuff. What else do you report on? Speaker 3 (2:22) Whatever's. I guess in the eye that week, like Lindsay Clancy right now was really big. So, you know, I've been doing the reports on her and stuff, but as far as like. Speaker 4 (2:31) Girl, then I think you're. Speaker 3 (2:33) Yeah, that's me. I was, yes. I Speaker 4 (2:36) was logged in the whole time. Yes. At Speaker 3 (2:38) work, we all had our little earbud and then we would sit there listening to the whole thing. Yeah, it was, that's the way we are now. So that's me. But with you guys, like, I don't know. It's not really that I pick any certain people to like pick on or to say things about, but. Speaker 4 (2:52) Some people make it easy. Like me. Speaker 3 (2:55) But no, like whatever, like if I pick something and like say, oh, well, I'll talk about this this week. And then for some reason, when you notice that people watch this more, you tend to do that more. You know what I'm saying? Like you tend to be like, oh, well, this got traction. So let me do it again. And it, I guess that it just got more traction than what everything else did. So Speaker 4 (3:15) you stopped following the Southern Tea for a period of time because there was. video that you did that was like she's boring I don't I don't know what all you said but you know fuck you for that um you did that yeah and then we did the rebrand and you're like okay I'm gonna listen for the rebrand but you're also a listener of coffee combos so like let's go down that path so Speaker 3 (3:42) to me I feel like that Speaker 3 (3:47) combos together is like great like you bounce off of each other it's like to me it's just it's a good combination Speaker 2 (3:55) together and Speaker 3 (3:57) then separately I'm like You know what I'm saying? Like it's one of those that I'm like, okay, I can't, I have ADHD. So Speaker 4 (4:04) we're talking barely famous and Southern tea. Speaker 3 (4:06) Yeah. Speaker 4 (4:07) Okay. Speaker 3 (4:08) With, um, I guess maybe sometimes it was just like talking to the point where it was like, I, maybe I couldn't stay focused on it. I don't know. I guess you could say that, but to me it just wasn't that dynamic of you two together to where it would keep Speaker 2 (4:21) me interested. And Speaker 3 (4:22) I'm like, and then with some things that I feel like that you guys said. And maybe put out there. It was kind of like, what's the word for it? Speaker 4 (4:33) You wanted to kill us? Speaker 3 (4:35) Not really kill you, but, you know, just kind of like these girls is like dramatized, I guess, maybe. Or kind of like, hey, what can we do to get, you know, what can we talk about this week to get our name out there? And I know that you have to keep people's attention. I know you have to do that kind of stuff. But to me, it was kind of like, let's find something Speaker 4 (4:51) different. But in our defense on that, I don't think that is the motive, right? We get on those recordings and we talk about our real life. And then how I came, I've watched you report on me for years and I have never, and you know this, I have never responded. I have never, nothing. It's like you have your own opinion about whatever the hell you want to have your opinion about. Great. Love that for you. With that being said, when you commented on my weight, I saw. all of the diabolical comments of people saying, oh, you should not be commenting on a woman's weight, like all of the things. And... From that, when I saw the comments, I'm like, okay, this is just like a woman that has followed this podcast and she's followed me and she sees all of the things, right? And then you see what I actually look like and you're like, okay, I'm actually concerned. I genuinely believed, and Hunter's behind the scenes right now, he knows what I said. I genuinely believe you came from a genuine place when you said that. Speaker 3 (6:00) Absolutely. And it broke my heart, Speaker 4 (6:02) not only for you to get the negative comments, right? Like don't talk about somebody's weight. Don't do X, Y, and Z, blah, blah, blah. Like I've never seen something like that ever. Speaker 4 (6:14) But also thank you. Because like you saw me. And I wasn't making it up. Speaker 3 (6:20) Right. And I think that's what really changed my focus about you is because in the beginning, like I said, I feel like y'all were like kind of dramatized kind of maybe to up the ante a little bit about what to talk about, how to, you know, keep your names up, you know, just kind of keep people going. And I look at it from, well, they're just making up. Speaker 4 (6:40) Bullshit. Yeah. Just kind Speaker 3 (6:41) of like. amping it up for us to be like oh Speaker 4 (6:45) my god yeah it's Speaker 3 (6:46) just dramatized to me but then because I've watched you from the beginning Chris and I's best up until now but literally and I can be believed or not as long as you understand I'm good but the way that it hit me when I saw that picture I literally was sitting at work and I was like oh my gosh and I was like and it's like hit me and all of a sudden it was like she's not dramatized She really, truly has been going through it. I saw a huge difference from you have a great figure. You're not overweight. You're not underweight. Like, I think that you are beautiful. That's just me. But I've seen the difference of the weight. And I was like, that is someone who's really been through it. And from that moment on, I said, I'm going to give her a break. I'm not going to talk about her because she's really, truly going through it. And that was like. The gravity of the relationship hit me all at once that day. And I really felt for you. Like it was no, people can probably say that you can turn around because you want to do this. Like, oh, you just want to, you know, get their notoriety, but you want them to know who you are. No, at that point. Speaker 4 (7:50) That had nothing to do with that for me. Speaker 3 (7:52) Yes. I did not care. I was like, absolutely not. This woman has been through it. And then I got all the hate, but I took it on the chin. It's like. And I thought about deleting the video, but then I was like, no, because that's truly who I am. Like, that's really, truly how I felt. And I'm not going to take it down just because. Now, if you would have said something, I would have done it out of respect. But you didn't. You came at me with, thank you, you know, for seeing me. And I did. I truly saw who you were. Speaker 4 (8:16) So let's dive into that. So I messaged you. And what did I say? Speaker 3 (8:21) You said, I could pull it up if you wanted to, but I think it was something on the lines of, hey. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know that I don't hate you because I did a follow-up video saying I thought you was going to hate me because, you know, of all the hate that I got on there and the, you know, I was like, well, she's going to hate me. But, and I tried to, I guess ADHD makes me feel like I need to over-explain myself. And so I made another video explaining that I truly was out of concern. There was no malice behind anything. Like it was truly out of concern. So when you said thank you for seeing me, it made me feel like that. that you understood that I truly saw you. And at that point. Speaker 4 (8:57) I saw it for what it was worth. Speaker 3 (8:59) Right. That's what I feel like. That was the point behind it. Do you guys see really, like she's really gone through it. Like it was kind of like me saying, I know I give y'all flack all the time, but this is truly her going through it. And I didn't even see it until that moment. And so it really kind of just stuck with me like, holy cow, like she really is. So, and then you said, thank you for seeing me. And I was like, honestly, you're welcome. Like, I don't know. I didn't really know what to say. Besides that was truly my intent. And I felt like that God really kind of was like, this is not the way you see it. And you need to change how you view people looking at them through a screen versus them being an actual person. And that really changed the viewpoint for me from right then. Speaker 4 (9:43) And I mean, I think it's fair, right? Like, and I've said this so many times that we put ourselves. in a situation to be a spectacle. Like we do that. I mean, nobody can debate that. We Speaker 3 (9:56) didn't talk about you. Who would know about, you know, like, yeah, Speaker 4 (9:58) like y'all are talking about us. You're doing whatever you're doing about us. Like, great. But at the same time, like there are very serious moments of life that it's disheartening sometimes where it's like, okay, yes. Like I am coming on here on this podcast every single week and I'm telling things. And people are like, oh, well, you're not being honest about X, Y, and Z. There are certain things that I'm not allowed to be fully honest about. And I hate that. And it's not that I'm lying. It's I have to be guarded in certain situations. I mean, Speaker 3 (10:34) because you'll throw a little bit out there just enough to keep people going. And I can see where that's frustrating on our end because we're like, but you're only giving us this. But what's going behind this? But Speaker 4 (10:43) then I also. I have to have enough respect for myself, right? So I can't give, this is my business. And like, I want to give it all. If it was my choice, I would come on here. You can ask on her. I would come on here and I would give every single part of everything and let the pieces fall where they may. I'm not willing to be sued. I'm not willing to go through a litigation. I'm not willing to do any of that. So for those reasons, I'm going to shut the fuck up. Speaker 3 (11:11) And I think that's the reason why it really became clear to me at that moment is because we expect y'all to do that. We expect anyone in the public eye to come out and be like, well, just tell us what it is. And it's like, just looking at it from a different perspective from that day, it was kind of like, but they can't. And I got to looking into stuff, researching, and I'm like, you know what? And I was just looking at it all wrong. completely and that's it I don't know it completely not just on you it's just anybody like you know kale your business partner it's you know anybody else has a podcast anybody else who is out there who's putting their self that considers herself an influencer or you know a public figure anybody it's like now I understand why you can't put out certain things and I'm just like it just hit me oh that video was just or that picture and I made that video was literally it just hit me and I was like And if you notice, I mean, I haven't said anything really since. I've reported on stuff, but nothing that's like. Speaker 4 (12:08) But it shouldn't deter you. No. That should not be a deterrent. Like. Not. But you should. Right. Like, and I told you that. Right. Do not agree to come on this interview if you are going to change reporting of anything. Like, talk shit about me. I don't give a fuck. I Speaker 3 (12:26) feel like that whenever I first saw that picture, it's like God said, let you rest. So I did, like I let you rest, I gave you a week or two, something like, I don't remember what it was, but I was like, I'm not saying a word about anything. No, she needs the rest. Like, no. If anybody else wants to do it, that's on them. But me, no. And so that's why I gave it a rest, and then I just kind of started picking back up on reporting. Speaker 4 (12:47) All right, y'all, let's take a quick break to talk about Willys. This is a product that Hunter actually loves. And I think we all need to be checked at some point. Do I think that you should have been checked in the way that you were checked and comments based off of an observation of my weight? We, and I say we, as my team did not view that as negative at all. It was more like, okay, she sees me. She sees me. And she knows now from a visual standpoint. She knows now from a visual standpoint of what I'm actually going through. Like people don't know. I locked myself into my house for weeks. I'm going through it. I absolutely hate the fact that, you know, it's a toxic relationship, right? Where something happens and then you can't talk again because the state says you can't. And so nobody's going to be willing to. bridge that threshold like there are so many things me being rage baited over the internet from somebody else's page posting pictures of my dog so obviously it's like a cease no contact right so like he can't contact me I cannot contact him I genuinely don't want to because I think that is for the best interest of everybody's mental health like I don't want to impact anybody's mental health I don't want anybody to impact mine our Speaker 3 (15:45) anniversary Speaker 3 (15:47) September 2nd. Speaker 4 (15:48) It's yours too? Speaker 3 (15:49) Yeah, four years we were married September 2nd. Speaker 4 (15:52) Aww. We have a lot more in common than you think that we do on Common Karen. Speaker 3 (15:57) Now that you're my new bestie. Speaker 4 (15:59) New bestie. After she's talked shit about me on the fucking internet for years. Dig. He posts, there will be a last coffee with someone, a last Sunday, a last holiday, a last chat. You more than likely will not know it at the time. Live and love accordingly. I Speaker 3 (16:21) told you I cry over everything. What Speaker 4 (16:23) am I supposed to do with that? Speaker 3 (16:25) I don't know because I don't know what I would do with it. Speaker 4 (16:28) But I also can't respond. Everybody wants me to comment on so much about that. And it's like, yes, in some degree, I understand. I had that relationship out there. Speaker 3 (16:41) And Speaker 4 (16:41) everybody got to view it. But then shit went south. And went really far south. Because I don't want it on my conscience. Of somebody being able to get an audio clip. Speaker 3 (16:54) Yes. Speaker 4 (16:54) To play in a courtroom. That would ruin his life. Speaker 1 (16:58) Yes. Speaker 4 (16:59) And while I understand. Certain behaviors are not excusable. But at the same time, I loved that person. And I still have love for that person. Speaker 3 (17:09) I know that you still love him, but that doesn't just go away. Speaker 4 (17:12) It doesn't. It doesn't go away overnight. And I think that a lot of the people who are viewing stuff, they're like, okay, onward and upward to the next. If you actually love somebody, that's not how it happens. And I'm not a machine. Can't just cut it off? I can't just cut that off. Now, while the communication is cut off. I will love him from afar. Speaker 3 (17:34) And that Speaker 4 (17:35) is true. And I'm not going to lie about it. Speaker 3 (17:38) But I've been there. Speaker 4 (17:39) I couldn't say. It sucks. Speaker 3 (17:42) It actually Speaker 4 (17:43) sucks. But I don't want to be beat up on the internet for something that I am dealing with so emotionally internally. And then it's like that extra layer of the internet of like, oh, they're blah, blah, blah. Or he's posting this. She is rage baiting him or he is playing to her emotion. No. It's exhausting. It actually is. And it's like for what? Like why are we. With my energy on something that I don't have
