What do you do when you're building something you believe in, but it really feels like nobody else can see your vision? You're putting in the hours, you're making sacrifices, you're trying to become more disciplined, but the money hasn't even caught up. The audience hasn't even caught up. your body hasn't caught up, and sometimes even the people closest to you really don't even understand what you're trying to build because they just don't understand. That is one of the hardest stages of becoming successful. It's the stage where you have to keep working, even when nobody is applauding. Let's go. Speaker 1 (1:07) Okay, folks, welcome back to the Model A Podcast. I'm your host, Lenny Wheeler, and this is Season 2, Episode 2. We're going to talk about building while nobody is watching. In our Season 2 premiere, we talked about evolution, mind, I believe it was body, we did image. Today, I want to talk about the part of evolution people don't always see. The construction phase, the uncomfortable middle, that period when you've already decided that you're wanting more in life. but you haven't reached that destination yet. This is where a lot of people quit. They really do quit. I thought about it. They don't necessarily quit because they don't have talent. They quit because results didn't come fast enough. They quit because people didn't respond fast enough. They quit because they compared their unfinished work to somebody else's finished presentation. That is crazy work, guys. But some of the most important work we will ever do happens before anybody notices. It happens early in the morning. Sometimes it happens late at night and it even happens during the quiet workouts. It happens during uncomfortable meetings, growth. It happens when you're learning new systems, correcting mistakes, trying again and again. Nobody may celebrate. But that is the part that builds you. Okay, so there's an invisible stage. People won't tell you about. We see the successful businesses. We don't see the months or years when it barely made money. They don't. We see the confident model walking down that runway. We don't see the awkward first clash, the rejection of the audience and the practicing. We don't see the finished podcast episode. We don't see anything. We don't see anything because 10 times because he couldn't get out of his own head. There was a lot of times he couldn't get out of his own head. And that's probably the thing that stresses people out the most because you're in your head, which we're going to dive into that too, right? So we see that fighter that's in shape. We don't see the early rounds when he was exhausted, uncoordinated, and questioning himself. Social media has trained us to look for visible results, views, followers, likes, money. bookings, weight loss, before and after pictures. But the numbers don't always reveal what is happening underneath, you guys. You may develop discipline before you see physical transformation. Just like we talked about before, you may develop leadership before the company reaches its revenue goals. You may be developing your voice before the audience finds you. And you may be building a system that isn't producing major results. Yeah, that's, that's a huge thing. And it happens in the modeling business. You don't see those results at the beginning. You're going to see them a little later on in life and, or during your career. And it sometimes could take, it takes months. It takes years. I see models start out and they'll start off flying out of the gate. And then all of a sudden it slows down and they're wondering what happened. Well, something happened along the way. Right. But. Let's talk about those systems that can eventually change your entire business model. That is why you can't judge your progress only by what is visible today. Sometimes the foundation is changing before the outside changes. A building doesn't begin with the penthouse. It begins underground. It begins with dirt, concrete, steel, and foundation that most people will never, ever see. Okay. So, but if that foundation isn't strong, You know, if you don't know anything about foundations, you have to being in the housing business for a long time. When you're putting the foundation down, you have to dig the trenches. That's the labor, right? You dig the trenches, whether it's by hand
