Speaker 2 (0:00) Welcome back to the Main Street Dish where we're dishing on all things Disney food and drinks from pavilions to Pandora, Hollywood Boulevard to Main Street USA. On this episode, we are dishing on the best and worst from our last trip to Disney. We're taking you through the food and the drinks, the overrated and the underrated, the surprises and the disappointments. I'm Colin. And Speaker 4 (0:17) I'm Bella. And together we are Millennials on Main Street. And I am Bethany Venton. And this is the Main Street Dish. Speaker 1 (0:22) Ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching our station at the entrance to Main Street USA. Speaker 2 (0:50) Bethany's still on vacation. And we're home. Speaker 3 (0:53) Vacation is a loose word. Speaker 3 (0:57) But I'm still in Florida. Speaker 2 (0:58) You're not home. Correct. But I will be Speaker 3 (1:01) home by the time this airs and you guys will be getting ready to head to Florida. Speaker 2 (1:07) Yes. Yeah, this week we'll be down. Speaker 3 (1:09) I love it. It's a little switch it, change it, rearrange it. Speaker 2 (1:12) I know. I mean, it would be fun if we could like high five in the air. You know what I mean? But it's not going to work that way. Speaker 3 (1:17) How about we high five in the ground on Philly next week? Speaker 2 (1:21) Yes, because you're coming to see us. Yeah. Speaker 3 (1:23) I'm happening to be in the Philly area for a wedding. And I was like. Speaker 3 (1:30) When in Rome. Speaker 4 (1:32) Correct. When in Rome. So very, very great that we can see you. Speaker 2 (1:37) Yeah, we're going to hang out. It'll be really fun. Yeah. It'll be really fun. Yeah. Yeah, and then Belle and I are going on a trip just us, just the two of us. Speaker 3 (1:44) Love this. Speaker 2 (1:45) I know. It was so Speaker 3 (1:46) funny when you guys posted that in your stories and you were like, this is the first time in five years we've gone on a trip by ourselves. I was like, weird that this podcast has been five Speaker 2 (1:53) years. Literally, August 2021. Speaker 3 (1:59) And we met in, well, August. We met that trip. We actually met on that trip. We did. We did. Yep. Speaker 2 (2:06) In Speaker 3 (2:07) all fairness, you also were pregnant shortly after. Oh, yeah. Speaker 4 (2:13) Yes. Correct. We went in December 2021. And we, the three of us, like we were all down there at the same time. Speaker 3 (2:22) Yes. And Speaker 4 (2:23) then we went down. with my mom in january of 2022 yes Speaker 2 (2:29) then Speaker 4 (2:30) we were down again for case my sister's wedding yeah your sister's wedding in march and in february early march yeah that same year and then in may so it's like just since it just seems like it was before finn and while we have had one other trip Speaker 4 (2:48) of just us without finn we went to a wedding in ireland yeah with six of our friends and flew Speaker 2 (2:54) there and traveled with them so it wasn't like no Speaker 3 (2:57) and then every time that you did go to florida without finn steve was there and by steve i mean me it's just me yes you and you and our friend steve steve yes yep yep so it'll be Speaker 2 (3:09) it'll be fun it's 36 hours of fun so and we're we're down we're we're doing a lot we'll we'll be able to talk about a lot of fun stuff after yeah Speaker 3 (3:18) this Speaker 2 (3:19) episode we'll Speaker 3 (3:20) be together next week and we can record in person which is crazy that Speaker 2 (3:23) is yeah in Speaker 3 (3:24) a Speaker 2 (3:24) different state we normally only we record exclusively in florida uh together but this will be this will be different this time it will but we did a lot on our last trip we did a lot of things i mean between the festival and resorts and maybe it's not so scary character dining Speaker 2 (3:43) A whole, a seven-day cruise. Yeah. You know what I mean? We did a lot. Yeah. And we figured the best way to kind of encompass all of this stuff is with a best and worst. You know, it was Vinton's idea. Credit where credit's due. But we do love a best and worst, don't Speaker 3 (3:57) we? And you know what? You guys love it too because it's just like matter of fact and to the point. And while Bella and I will do a one-hour episode just on Chef Mickey's and how much we hated that experience, Speaker 4 (4:07) well, maybe it'll get a mention today. Speaker 2 (4:11) Maybe. And Speaker 4 (4:12) you won't know until we get there if it's going to be the best or the worst. Correct. I think Speaker 2 (4:17) so. Well, we'll see. The sun's Speaker 4 (4:20) point too. Yeah. Shake Speaker 2 (4:22) the magic eight ball and we'll see. But yeah, so we'll do a best and a worst. I think, you know, typical us fashion, there may be multiple bests and it's fine because we have the microphones and we make the rules. Yeah. Speaker 3 (4:33) I don't like to be put like I only get one. You know. Speaker 2 (4:38) No, no, no, no, no, no. This is our reality and we're living in it. So that is that. But we will be talking about today. Best and worst festival item. Best and worst drink. Best and worst snack. Best and worst restaurant. Best and worst dessert. Best and worst Disney cruise food. Most underrated thing we did. Most overrated thing we did. Biggest surprise. Biggest disappointment. And the best thing we ate on the whole trip. Speaker 3 (4:59) Love it. Speaker 2 (5:00) There's the rundown. But let's dive into the festival. Shall we? We'll talk about. A lovely food and wine moment. But we'll do best and worst of the fest. We'll do nice round robin situation. Speaker 4 (5:12) You can go first. And I'll go first. And we'll do best first. We'll go best then worst. Start with the best. Speaker 2 (5:18) Save the worst for last. That's the saying, right? But let's talk about the best. So for me, the best bite of the festival is the Barai Barbecue Chicken Pizza at Connections. Speaker 4 (5:29) And me as well. Two Speaker 2 (5:31) for two. Because there's two slices, you know, one for me, one for you. There is. And we also. Wow. Speaker 4 (5:37) So sweet. And we also. They're wearing purple because they love each other. Because they love each other. We also got this twice. And I think that that is also. That I'll tell Speaker 2 (5:48) you. A Speaker 4 (5:48) reason. Yeah. And it does live rent free in my brain. Speaker 2 (5:51) Yeah. It's something I haven't stopped thinking about it actually since I got back. But it is a South African inspired barbecue like tamarind. sauce that is so delicious with the chicken and I think the red onion as well with a great little melted cheese situation, of course, and a piri piri sauce that's drizzled on top. Day one when we had it, the piri piri sauce wasn't as prominent, but when we went back for day two, let me tell you, they were heavy-handed on the piri piri. Period. Period. Period. Period. Period. Speaker 3 (6:23) Period. Period. Period. Speaker 2 (6:25) It was so... It had a good amount of spice. I think just the South African spices are just really fragrant too. So it smells bomb. It smells so good. And then the second day, I also got a little bit of ranch because Connections has all the condiments. Got a little bit of ranch and drizzled that on the pizza and I was in heaven. Speaker 3 (6:44) Also, ranch belongs on pizza. Speaker 2 (6:47) Yeah. Yeah, it does. I am Speaker 4 (6:50) actually not a ranch lover, but I will say there are certain... No, there are certain pizzas Speaker 2 (6:54) that... Speaker 4 (6:54) I knew this about you. I don't Speaker 3 (6:55) know what it was. Speaker 2 (6:55) Yeah. She's... Speaker 4 (6:56) I'm like, what? Yeah. I do think ranch belongs on certain things. And there are some pizzas, like Domino's pizza, because it's kind of garbage pizza. Yeah. You need the ranch. You need something to make up for it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. This is not garbage pizza, but actually the ranch did enhance it. I did enjoy that. Speaker 2 (7:15) Because I will say that it did have a kick, especially with the peri-peri sauce on there. the kick was prevalent like it had a little bit of zing to it and the ranch just like cooled it down a little bit it was real nice real nice but i've said it a million times and i'll say it again don't sleep on connections during festivals that is oh that's like i'll get off yeah we and yeah and i always said we gotta go we gotta go and now we're going religiously and look at us finding best bites because the last pizza they had for flower and garden was also Speaker 3 (7:46) The pizza was Speaker 2 (7:46) so good. So this one honestly was better than that. It's the best festival pizza I've had at connections ever. And that's it. So Vincent. Yeah. Speaker 3 (7:55) It's not the Speaker 2 (7:56) pizza. But we're Speaker 3 (7:58) also not going to a booth. So I'm really sorry. Well, because I'm going to get the boson poutine from La Poutine-ery. One that literally shined bright like a diamond. First off, the vibe of the La Poutine-ery, because this was the first time we had ever been, elite. Thank you, Air Speaker 2 (8:17) Canada. Air Speaker 3 (8:18) Canada. No notes. Also, there's like a goose outside and I sent it to George the other day because there was a sound that it was like, what's that? It was like a loon and it's from. heated rivalry but the vibe is great it has that like ticker tape like when you're at the airport back in the day when the things would change i love the vibe of it but this bosom poutine was so freaking good the flavors were there i loved the pork in it i thought it was delicious i loved a little bit of pickled bits in it and the fries are phenomenal oh Speaker 4 (8:50) yeah the pickles and the fries made it To be honest. And I thought they did not skimp on the pork or the sauce. It was very saucy. It had really great flavor. The pickles added a brightness that was needed. And I thought that they had a decent amount of pickles on there too. Speaker 2 (9:05) And the kimchi slaw too. It was just like a combination of both. Ferment anything. Speaker 3 (9:10) I love it. Speaker 2 (9:11) Honestly. And just throw it on the fries, man. Throw it on there. This was amazing. This was my honorable mention. And I'm so glad that it... It deserves a spot on here and it deserves to be talked about. Yeah, Speaker 3 (9:24) it's Speaker 2 (9:24) crazy Speaker 3 (9:24) that we didn't go to a booth though. Speaker 2 (9:26) No, but honestly, I can't find anything better than those two things. I think those are the top two bites of the entire festival. I'll die on that hill. Speaker 3 (9:35) I would agree. Speaker 2 (9:36) Yeah. Well, there we go. So, I mean, three hosts, two things, but that's how you know it's good for real. But let's talk about worst, shall we? I guess I'll go first against this round. Mine is the French beef. me too no Speaker 3 (9:51) yeah wow it was the french beef it was so Speaker 2 (9:55) bad it was Speaker 3 (9:57) almost mine but oh wow okay Speaker 2 (9:59) sticks Speaker 3 (10:00) out of my brain as being terrible it Speaker 2 (10:02) was and even because i went back and like sometimes you need to like go back and just like look at a photo look at a video and then i had it in my head as what i was thinking and then when the photo popped up i was like yep it's sad it was really sad we Speaker 3 (10:16) had come from like where was it, Belgium, that also has a beef, which was good. But then this one, it was a red wine braised beef that it just felt like it had braised for too long, and it was sweet. It was sweet beef. And you're like, I don't want sweet beef. Sweet, dry Speaker 2 (10:35) beef. Speaker 3 (10:36) Yeah, this one was truly heinous for me. And Speaker 2 (10:40) the potatoes were criminal. As an Irish person, they were criminal. No. It was awful. Speaker 3 (10:48) I think our good Raina said, what up, Main Street Munchers? What up, Main Street Munchers? We love Raina. Main Street Munchers! She said that the potatoes at Chef Mickey's were better, and I feel like she wasn't wrong. That was her hot take, and I said, I don't even think that's Speaker 2 (11:03) a Speaker 3 (11:03) hot take. You're just right. Yeah, exactly. Speaker 2 (11:06) She's spitting facts. That's what she's doing. Correct. Yeah, but the French beef was truly awful. Speaker 4 (11:10) Yeah. Isabella? Isabella. You're never going to guess this because you, I don't think either of you tasted this. The blackberry buckle from Regal Evil. Oh. Speaker 2 (11:19) Yeah. You Speaker 4 (11:20) know what? I'm happy I didn't have it. Yeah. That's right. Dodge that bullet, right? The blackberry buckle itself. Fine. It was good. Yeah. Speaker 2 (11:28) The Speaker 4 (11:28) blackberry ice cream they put on top of this was horrid. It was so fake blackberry and like floral in a way. Oh God. It tasted like soap. I thought I was eating soap. And then I, it was horrible. And I pushed the ice cream aside and had the buckle. The buckle was okay. The ice cream, however, atrocious. So that was the worst bite. It was one of those bites where you like, you take a bite and you're like immediately. No. Speaker 3 (11:53) Yeah. Speaker 4 (11:54) So maybe they fix it since then, but they definitely, um, no, probably not. Ice Speaker 2 (12:00) cream was acting weird. A food of mine, Speaker 4 (12:01) especially in America is acting weird. Yeah, I know. It was Speaker 2 (12:05) weird. Speaker 4 (12:06) Yeah. Like didn't melt. yeah it was weird yeah so anyway that was the worst bite of the fest for me yeah Speaker 2 (12:12) well glad we dodged that bullet you know you did yes let's go to best and worst drink uh bethany yeah Speaker 3 (12:20) you're Speaker 2 (12:21) up starting Speaker 3 (12:22) with the best one strawberry hibiscus agua fresca soda from Speaker 3 (12:29) baseline with vodka because it was out for a week and we talked about this and I didn't realize how much I miss it. It's such a refreshing drink and that has to be my best because you know when they rip something away from you for a period of time where they didn't have it I realized how much I missed it. Yeah. You took it for Speaker 2 (12:49) granted. You didn't know how good you had it. Correct. And it's going to be Speaker 3 (12:52) at Speaker 2 (12:52) Earth Speaker 3 (12:52) Eats without alcohol. So if you're interested, Speaker 2 (12:55) Earth Eats opens Speaker 3 (12:57) on October 2nd and it is there as well. So that was the best. And then I have a secondary one. Speaker 2 (13:03) Okay. Do it. Speaker 3 (13:04) The secondary one is the rum punch we had on the boat when we were in Tortola. Heck yeah. Speaker 2 (13:09) Ocean Girls. Speaker 3 (13:10) You know Speaker 2 (13:10) what's so funny? Because Speaker 4 (13:11) I had that and then I deleted it. But it's totally, I had it and I said, you know what? That rum punch was hitting. Speaker 3 (13:20) Vibes were elite. There's Speaker 4 (13:21) the Speaker 3 (13:21) best photo I think I've ever taken of Colin where he's just living his best life on the back of this lake. Have I seen it? I don't know. You're about to see it in the feed next week. I'm not even going to show it to you now. Speaker 2 (13:32) No, I can't wait. Speaker 3 (13:34) No, I think the rum punch was also a good honorable mention where the vibes were just high that even if it was terrible and really crappy rum, who cares? Because the vibes were so great at that point in time. So I highly recommend that excursion. Oh, yeah, totally. Speaker 2 (13:51) Bethany and I were... standing on the back of this open water taxi zipping through the Caribbean with nothing behind us but a piece of cloth and the open ocean. Period. Speaker 3 (14:02) And need we didn't die. Two Speaker 2 (14:04) drinks in each hand and we're still here to the point where the woman called me over and she was like, I don't know how that woman's standing. And I was like, oh, Bethany? Speaker 3 (14:15) She good. She's a Speaker 2 (14:16) pro. She's a pro. Oh my God. All right, Bella. Speaker 4 (14:19) All right. So. Obviously, I have to put the Schaaf Spritz that they have in Germany. Oh, so good. Speaker 3 (14:26) It Speaker 4 (14:27) was so good. It was an orange like Spritz situation. Really delightful. Very light and refreshing. Perfect for the Florida heat, in my opinion. And I like it a little bit more. I'll always be a Schaaf stan. I'll always love anything Schaaf does. But I will say if they did the Spritz. with multiple flavors of show-off, I would be getting this every single time. Like this needs to be a staple. Yeah, like a spritz. Speaker 2 (14:51) Lemon spritz. Yeah, lemon, Speaker 4 (14:53) spritz flight. They need to make this kind of a permanent thing because I think spritzes are such a fun thing to drink and like an easy thing to drink. I think a lot of beer tends to get heavy sometimes in your stomach if you drink too much of it. This though, I think I could drink all day. So number one, I Speaker 1 (15:08) think Speaker 4 (15:08) the Speaker 2 (15:08) ABV is super low. And then number two, they... They did mean spritz because they, they had a, it had a little bit of that, like a partif. Yeah. Bitterness. Yeah. Air quote bitterness to it. Speaker 1 (15:23) That Speaker 2 (15:24) it was, it wasn't just like, oh, it's orange or oh, it's just like, but more bubbly or no, it had a little bit of that bitterness to it. It wasn't sweet. It was. No. Delicious. Delicious. We're getting a full pour. Oh, 100%. We're Speaker 3 (15:37) getting two. Speaker 4 (15:38) I have one more. Get Speaker 3 (15:39) the Speaker 4 (15:39) 12 ounce. The Speaker 3 (15:40) big one. Speaker 4 (15:41) Oh, big one. For sure. I have one more. The salted caramel pretzel cold brew. Ooh, another good one. As well. Non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholic. But I will say, unfortunately, the hype on the internet is true. This cold brew is very good. People Speaker 2 (15:57) were coming after us for that. Speaker 4 (15:58) They were. And here's the thing. I think I understand. I think that... If you are to get a latte, a specialty latte at any of the major chain coffee places, right? Starbucks, Seven Brew, whatever. They're very, they tend to be very sweet. This is as advertised. This is a cold brew. They pour the cream on. They're not making a latte, right? And I think that that might be the people's issue is it's not one drink. Does that make sense? Like you have to mix it. No, Speaker 2 (16:27) I Speaker 4 (16:27) think people just Speaker 2 (16:27) hate. love to hate on Joffrey's cold brew. I Speaker 4 (16:30) think people, Speaker 2 (16:32) it's like a bit for people and I'm like, I don't want to hear it. I don't understand it and I won't respond. Speaker 4 (16:37) No, I didn't think it was bitter at all. I thought that the coffee was great. The flavor was great. I love the caramel and I love the little pretzel pieces on the top. So I will get it every single time it is available to me, which is only going to be during food and wine. Speaker 2 (16:50) And I said, why not have a version with Mozart? Speaker 3 (16:53) Period. Just go get your Mozart job and put it in it. And Speaker 2 (16:56) just put it in there. But I think, you know what I think? I actually think the Mozart white chocolate would be bomb in there. Well, you let me know when you have it next week. Okay. I actually know who we put on it. Our good friends at the pod, Annie and Abe. Speaker 4 (17:09) They were Speaker 2 (17:10) like, salute. They were like, I was like, report back. Yeah. Yep. So my best drink of the trip is the entire cocktail list from the Scat Cat Lounge. Speaker 3 (17:20) Oh, good one. Shout out to Jorge. Speaker 2 (17:23) Shout out to Jorge and just shout out to the Sky Cat Lounge on the Treasure. I think that is probably one of the most fun places, spaces that I've had the privilege of drinking in in a long time. And just a list that kept on giving. Every section had an amazing drink in it, multiple amazing drinks in it. I don't even think I can list all the ones that I loved, but I feel like... It was a space where there were gimmicks like the cocktails coming in a large kettle teapot and they pour it in. But the cocktail was, the cocktails were amazing. Yes. Speaker 3 (18:01) And the presentation Speaker 2 (18:02) was really fun. Yes. And then even the cocktails that were inspired by jams, like the peanut butter and jelly old fashioned that I had was so good. And it came with like a little smear of. grape jelly on the side. It was so good. Every single drink I had was phenomenal. And I kept being like, they can't get better. They can't get better. And they kept getting better and better and better. Yeah. Speaker 3 (18:29) And I think that I love a good presentation if it's whimsy. Totally. Where it's not just like the whole bit. You know what I mean? Speaker 2 (18:36) I know. But even just like
