Speaker 5 (0:00) It's the Lonely Speaker 8 (0:02) Island and Seth Meyers Speaker 3 (0:05) Podcast! Speaker 8 (0:08) Hey, dudes, how's Speaker 3 (0:09) it Speaker 8 (0:09) going? Hi, Seth. Hi, happy Saturday. Happy Saturday. No, Andy, let me just say, I want to just shout out, huge congrats on last week's episode. Really, as a listener, absolutely loved it. Speaker 6 (0:24) Seth, you're such a sarcastic person, it's hard. I'm always like, is he serious? No, no, no. Okay, Speaker 8 (0:29) I'm glad you're asking if I'm serious. I'm dead serious. I really love the pod a lot. Somebody did say it's fun to hear the pod when Poindexter Seth isn't reigning in the big dogs. That's fine. I just want you guys to know that's not my goal to be a Poindexter who's reigning in the big dog and and listening. I love listening to those dogs go crazy. Just loved it. But then I took issue with this, Keith, because somebody said, I love Seth. Thank you. But it's so nice to get an episode where the first 20 minutes isn't just reading comments. I'm pretty sure the first 20 minutes was you just reading that comment about the dude who counted the dookies. Speaker 7 (1:05) Yeah, I think it was. It was just that Jorm was also playing his homemade sound effects. Yeah, which were fantastic. I think we, yeah, I was just reading it. You Speaker 8 (1:13) did a lot of work. I mean, to be honest, I don't know if like, if I had been daving that episode. I don't know if I would have spent as much time on the Dookie email. Maybe that's the Speaker 7 (1:23) problem. Well, I just really wanted to dive in. I was so impressed with Jonathan's work. Speaker 8 (1:27) Did you know that Jonathan did hear the request for the actual count of the Dookies and that he sent them in? Oh, good, good. Speaker 7 (1:33) Thank you, Jonathan. Jorm, do you want to take a guess? Speaker 8 (1:36) What am I guessing? Well, you had the most of the Dookies. Oh, good. And... Who Speaker 7 (1:40) do you think was next, me or Andy? Well, actually, we know that from last week. Speaker 6 (1:44) Okay, then I'm going to guess that I said it 64 times. That's my guess. Speaker 7 (1:47) You said it Speaker 8 (1:47) 35 times. Fuck! Fuck, I got it wrong. Yeah. You Speaker 7 (1:50) knew it was less than in the 40s because Howard Parker got in the 40s and he was number one. Andy said it 28 times. I'm looking here too. Speaker 6 (1:58) Howard Parker wrote us a very nice email. I think he was pretty, pretty psyched that he was mentioned so lovingly. Did you Speaker 7 (2:05) reach out to him or did it get to him organically through the quades? I did some due diligence on this one. I actually went through his reps to Speaker 6 (2:12) get to him and then never actually got his number. So we were just communicating through his very nice reps. But Speaker 7 (2:19) you got a sweet later quads from him. That Speaker 6 (2:21) was a Speaker 7 (2:21) surprise to me when I was going through the episode to give notes and all of a sudden there it was. And it was such a treat. Speaker 6 (2:27) I sort of wanted you guys to actually listen to it when it was airing, but you Speaker 7 (2:30) know, whatever. Well, that's what I mean. I heard it in the final thing. Speaker 6 (2:33) Wait, Seth, can I push back on calling us big dogs? Sure. I think it's a... Well, closer to three old yellers. Three old yellers. End of the movie, old yellers. I Speaker 7 (2:42) was going to say we're like three little yippy dogs next to you, and you're like a Jack Reacher dog, you know, next to us. I would Speaker 8 (2:49) say I'm more, I would say I'm like an overworked dog walker. Speaker 7 (2:52) That's right. Trying to pull back the leashes on three. Maybe like a Speaker 8 (2:55) struggling actor who's like paying the bills by doing a little dog walking, and it's just like me with like three yippers on the street. And I'm like late to my audition. Yeah, Speaker 7 (3:04) we're all going in different directions. And you're like, I just got to get them back to the house so I can leave for my audition. Because Speaker 8 (3:09) I got a summer stock audition. I really need it. Yo, that's hella accurate. By the way, speaking of the Dookies, Jeremy James, I'm going to shout him out. After a long, brutal day that culminated in a 2.30 a.m. commute home, I popped on the pod and went to Keeva and asked how many Dookies were said in total. I yelled out 127. Imagine my surprise and horror that I was correct with no one to bear witness to the finest achievement of my adult life. I get that, man. That must have been a haunting moment. Speaker 7 (3:36) Wow. Do Speaker 8 (3:37) you Speaker 7 (3:37) think it was, why 127? It's just, it Speaker 8 (3:39) does sound like a number that pops into your head the way 17 does. Well, it's a comedy number. Like that, isn't that 127 hours? Isn't that James Franco comedy? Oh. Yeah, I don't know that it's a comedy, Seth, but it is. Well, it leads back to that. It's another one where a guy eats his own, what is he? He has to eat his own arms. He Speaker 7 (3:56) has to chop it off. Yeah, Speaker 8 (3:57) that's not a comedy. He Speaker 7 (3:59) doesn't eat it, does he? Does he eat his arm? No, he cuts it off with like a very dull blade. Speaker 6 (4:04) I did a comedy pass where he ate it and they didn't do it. They were like, we'll pay you, but we're not sure if you get what this movie's going for. He Speaker 8 (4:11) got home and he was like, I had to cut off my own arm and then I ate it. And everybody's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What? Like, we get why you cut it off. What was the second part? Speaker 6 (4:20) Can I tell a story that I'm not going to name names, but a friend of mine did tell me that their dad died, but he got run over by a herd of wildebeests. Speaker 8 (4:29) And Speaker 6 (4:30) it's just hard when you... say that to somebody because like then you have to be like oh it's not actually funny and then the whole time you're like well but it is though like yeah and Speaker 8 (4:39) by the way if you're yorm's friend that that happened to he probably has a second friend that it also happened to so don't don't like Speaker 6 (4:44) so let's not judge keep Speaker 8 (4:46) making it more specific uh yorm's like my adhd letting loose screaming colin now get a free t-shirt and andy is like my ocd panicking about the possibility of getting in legal trouble screaming we don't have any t-shirts or any way of sending them to you Speaker 7 (5:03) this is this person's two diagnosis just battling yeah that's it too and Speaker 8 (5:07) i said battering that on it's good to have both i Speaker 6 (5:09) think it's good to have both 100 there's pills for both yeah Speaker 8 (5:12) too oh uh speaking of horror have you guys seen uh you guys i know you're easily spooked have you guys seen obsession oh my god i literally Speaker 6 (5:20) pushed our release date because of that movie because i was like oh shit this is coming this is fucking great it's Speaker 8 (5:25) fucking great Keeve, have you seen Obsession? Speaker 7 (5:27) No, no. Too spooky for me. Thank you so much. Oh, my God. I will say, Speaker 8 (5:30) there's a way to watch it, Keeve, where it's a little bit less spooky. And Jorm, I don't know if you noticed this. The main character, Indy's character, little bit of Trina, Kristen Wiig's character. There's a little bit of Thomas. Speaker 8 (5:46) And I'm not giving away much. No, she's doing SNL, Speaker 6 (5:48) too. She's doing SNL October or something, the Halloween episode. Speaker 8 (5:52) Is that Speaker 7 (5:52) announced, Jorm, or are you just Speaker 6 (5:53) saying more things on the pod? No, it's announced. Speaker 7 (5:56) I always thought she was going to be the season premiere after this summer. They always choose the, I like to call it the Napoleon Dynamite of the summer to get in there. Right. But I guess Jalen's also the Napoleon Dynamite of the summer. Speaker 8 (6:07) And basketball, Shoemaker was saying the other day, basketball hosts have to be the season premiere. Speaker 7 (6:12) Oh, because of when they have to go back to work? Right. Speaker 8 (6:16) Basically, the season, the basketball season is probably the most overlap with the SNL season. Speaker 6 (6:22) What if Indy started playing basketball? Then it would be a toss-up, right? Yeah, Speaker 8 (6:26) yeah, that would be a problem as far as Speaker 6 (6:27) who you go Speaker 8 (6:28) with. Speaker 7 (6:28) She looks like she's 4'11". Yeah, Speaker 8 (6:30) she'd be a real movie. I think she's 5' tall, yeah. She's so great in the movie. And I do believe a lot of horror movies have the same moves in them as comedies, which is just heightening and beats and surprise. But it is, I don't know whether Trina will be scarier to watch moving forward or if Obsession will be funnier to watch. But again, not giving anything away from the plot that you don't know. You know, she becomes obsessed, right? Yeah, I know the basics and it makes sense. She's like, Speaker 5 (6:55) come on, I'm going to kill you. No. It's like, Speaker 7 (7:00) no. Speaker 8 (7:01) me. Oh, no. You have Speaker 7 (7:03) seen Speaker 6 (7:03) it though, correct? Yes. I've Speaker 7 (7:04) seen Speaker 8 (7:05) it. Yeah. The Speaker 6 (7:05) fucking scene where she's asleep and then is like. Speaker 8 (7:11) Fucking hell. Holy shit. This is fucking scary. Oh Speaker 7 (7:14) my Speaker 8 (7:14) God. Again, once again, Keith, I'm like so careful not to give anything away about the plot. You're Speaker 7 (7:18) tiptoeing, tiptoeing about it. And then he just checks to make sure you've seen it to just say something you've already seen. Could have just said. He said he was too chicken shit to watch it. Spoiling Speaker 8 (7:27) an act three turn. I think he Speaker 7 (7:30) was. Speaker 8 (7:30) I'm like, hey, I want to be gentle with this because I appreciate it. I think Speaker 7 (7:33) Obsession's been out long enough. It's fair game. It might have been a midpoint to be fair. I Speaker 8 (7:37) think Speaker 7 (7:37) it's a little Speaker 8 (7:38) bit later. It's great. It's also Speaker 7 (7:39) very popular. Everybody. he saw it so i think it's okay Speaker 8 (7:41) that's true i guess yeah what's the number what's the box office number where you're like oh dude i'm sorry i'm allowed to talk about this we don't have a monoculture anymore and so when a movie makes this much money we're allowed to talk about it immediately yeah Speaker 7 (7:53) whatever it is it's what obsession hit so we could look that up and have the number yeah that's your Speaker 8 (7:57) answer uh everybody enjoyed dinked Speaker 7 (8:00) in Speaker 8 (8:00) the doink off the top of the last pod keeve Oh, is that when we... Dinked in the Doink is when you use music and therefore we do not get the ad revenue. We get a copyright Speaker 7 (8:09) strike. And Speaker 8 (8:10) also Speaker 7 (8:10) they just put ads everywhere that we wouldn't put. Speaker 8 (8:13) So we're really hoping Nick in the Nicktionary has added Dinked in the Doink. If that is still a robust sort of online resource. I got a little burned because my one appearance in the last pod was reading ads. There was an ad where I had to read some... you know, some of those long multi-syllable drug names. And someone's comment was that I read it like a fifth grader seeing it for the first time and then just was like, yeah, that's good enough. That sounds, I didn't hear your ad, Speaker 7 (8:45) but that sounds like it's probably a very accurate description of what happened. So Obsession did make $519 million worldwide. I think that the bar is actually lower than that. Speaker 8 (8:53) I think $250. Speaker 7 (8:54) Yeah, yeah. If you make $250, then spoilers. But it's also about time. Because there could be like a Spider-Man that makes that opening weekend. And I don't think we can ruin it the next weekend. Right. Time. It's time and money. Yeah. Well, Speaker 6 (9:06) anyway, the best part is when she's in bed, she's asleep. You don't have to ruin it for everybody. You realize that she's actually like, this is like, and the sleep. So she's like, please. And you're like, oh, fucking. Speaker 7 (9:19) Okay. So 520, it came out May 15th. So it's also been, you know. It's totally in the clear. That's four months. Speaker 8 (9:27) Yeah. But that's Speaker 7 (9:28) the rule. It's 250 in four months. Speaker 8 (9:30) $250 million plus four months. That's Speaker 7 (9:31) official. It's Speaker 8 (9:32) an official rule. I do just want to circle back on the criticism that I read that ad once and then was like, it's fine. I did. That's 100 % true. But I have three different times been asked. by our producers to rerecord the name of one of the drugs. And Speaker 7 (9:48) you did rerecord three times and this was the result of Speaker 8 (9:51) that? Speaker 7 (9:51) Yeah, Speaker 8 (9:51) and I Speaker 7 (9:51) keep rerecording it. Speaker 8 (9:52) Yeah. And so if there's one that all of a sudden like the sound quality seems different, it's that I just can't get it right. By the way, Keev, I've desperately been trying to make good points in the hope that Jorm brought his soundboard and I would get a... Yeah, I mean, because last week I was listening and I'm like, I wonder if Jorm knew I wasn't going to be here or did he just not even plan? I Speaker 6 (10:13) think, Seth, if I'm being honest, Seth, I think that I was nervous that you would judge me. You know what I mean? Oh my God. I mean, it Speaker 8 (10:20) seemed Speaker 7 (10:20) very clear. Speaker 6 (10:20) I'm still Speaker 7 (10:20) waiting for one to drop any second, but... Speaker 8 (10:22) I know. I feel like he just didn't. It's like he doesn't. I think Speaker 7 (10:25) he's having a like. It's Speaker 8 (10:26) like he threw it away. Nice joke. Speaker 7 (10:29) They Speaker 8 (10:29) barely Speaker 7 (10:30) play through the Zoom. The Zoom likes filtering them. Yeah. But I did hear something nice joke and now Jorm's losing it again. So you know it played good. Speaker 8 (10:37) Okay. So now I realize. So this is a whole bit that is more fun to listen to as a listener of the pod. In Speaker 7 (10:42) the Speaker 8 (10:42) final product. Oh, Speaker 7 (10:43) definitely. Speaker 8 (10:43) Because we barely hear it. Speaker 7 (10:44) And Speaker 6 (10:45) nothing for Seth. You Speaker 8 (10:46) didn't do a Seth one, huh? Look, I'll make one for you next time, Seth. Maybe. Really? Okay. I mean, just know I'd really like one. You had another, you said probably Chris under your breath and none Speaker 7 (10:58) of the other Speaker 8 (10:59) two Speaker 7 (10:59) Alvins Speaker 8 (11:00) heard it. Speaker 7 (11:00) No. In relation to Chris the person, I'm sure. Oh, Speaker 8 (11:03) yeah. Or Chris Cristal. All Speaker 7 (11:05) right. So I got this one. Larry Morgan from K-Rock in Los Angeles. That's the radio station. Per the recent Zach Looks for New Assistant app, I checked the audio library for K-Rock and all I could find was this. Ready? Speaker 2 (11:18) Hey, we're The Lonely Island. I'm Andy. I'm Jorma. And I'm Akiva. And you're listening to Kevin and Bean on KROQ. Speaker 6 (11:24) In the morning! Speaker 7 (11:26) Pretty good. That's really good. That's a real one. That makes sense. So he had access, Larry had access to KROQ's library. And that, clearly we didn't put that one together. We were on the morning show and they asked us for a drop. Speaker 6 (11:37) You know what? When you were about to play that though, what I thought it was going to be is them apologizing to us for not using that theme song that we made for Speaker 7 (11:44) them. Guys, we're so sorry. Still waiting! Still waiting, guys. They might have used it. We don't really know. That's Speaker 6 (11:51) true. I didn't listen to every episode. Speaker 7 (11:53) You pointed out that you think that the zoo crew, the morning zoo crew that we made, the battling ones where we were mean to one of the people and nice to the other one, was a Florida radio station. Speaker 6 (12:04) I think it was. We were traveling around for, I believe, Popstar, I think. And we were at a lot of, I don't want to say random places, but I don't think it was like a fully syndicated national show. We Speaker 7 (12:17) definitely went to Tampa because we went to the college there. It Speaker 6 (12:19) was Speaker 7 (12:19) either that or maybe we were in Philadelphia. It might have been Philadelphia. This is going to
