Speaker 3 (0:09) Hello and welcome to our podcast of junkies. I'm Dave O'Neill. Speaker 2 (0:12) I'm Kitty Flanagan. This is the Sweet and Salty Roundabout. You're on board with Possum and the Big Guy. Choo choo! Speaker 3 (0:29) Kitty is fresh from the Grain Awards. Speaker 2 (0:32) Yeah, I did the Grain Awards a while back. Yeah, a few weeks ago. I trot on your territory there, Dave. I know. I normally Speaker 3 (0:38) do those gigs. Speaker 2 (0:39) You and Ed? Ed Cavill does them? Oh, Speaker 3 (0:42) there's plenty of people do them. I'm furious. You're touring theatres. You don't have to do them. I've Speaker 2 (0:48) wide-ended Speaker 3 (0:48) your Speaker 2 (0:48) business. Yeah, you don't have to do them, Speaker 3 (0:50) Kitty. Speaker 2 (0:50) I Speaker 3 (0:51) have to. Did I tell you I went and did? Was that when Noosa had only spoken to you? Speaker 2 (0:55) on this program about that? No. Speaker 3 (0:56) I had to do a mining gig where before me there were eight different people presenting their mining prospectus. Talking about mines that weren't actually going yet, but they had done all the research. Speaker 2 (1:07) Okay, wow. For Speaker 3 (1:08) example, there was a guy who had a gas mine in Botswana. Oh. And he's like, all right, this mine is ready to go. The locals are on site. We've got all the permits. I know the minister for mining. Speaker 2 (1:17) What's Speaker 3 (1:17) he Speaker 2 (1:17) taking bids? Who's in? Well, yeah, he needs money. He needs money. He's literally pitching. Speaker 3 (1:21) Yeah, then there was a guy from... A tin mine in Peru. God. There was one in Tasmania, Chile, Cambodia maybe. Then I had to go and do comedy. So there we go. Speaker 2 (1:32) Well, they had some dignitaries, some foreign dignitaries. At the Grains Award. At Speaker 3 (1:37) the Speaker 2 (1:37) Grains Award. They had some people from. They did have some Chinese, but most of them, I think, the people were from Indonesia. And where Speaker 3 (1:48) were the table of Indonesians? Speaker 2 (1:50) They were to my left. Speaker 3 (1:52) And were they just staring at you? Speaker 2 (1:53) Well, I thought, because I'd been told there would be Indonesians there, they didn't tell me there were also going to be Chinese dignitaries, so I prepared some Indonesian. Speaker 3 (2:02) Oh, what slum a puggy. Speaker 2 (2:04) Yeah, well, my sister was saying, why don't you say, I'm going to get the bus to there, because that's the only thing she knows how to say in Indonesian. I opened up with, I believe we've got some Indonesian dignitaries, and so to you, I would like to say, orei untuk biji bijan. Speaker 3 (2:17) That's good. Speaker 2 (2:18) Thank you. It means hooray for grain. Speaker 3 (2:20) Oh, really? And did they like that? Speaker 2 (2:22) No, it got complete silence. So I don't know if maybe it was my accent and they didn't understand me or maybe, you know, I actually said, fuck grain. I don't know. Yeah, you Speaker 3 (2:31) said grain's bad. I Speaker 2 (2:32) may have kicked off an international incident. But what I was trying to say was hooray for grain. Speaker 3 (2:36) Hooray for grain. And Speaker 2 (2:37) the only other thing that went slightly wrong at the gig was I had dressed in what I think is my smart outfit. that I wear on stage in the nice theatres, which is a suit but without the jacket. So it's like vest, tie, shirt. Oh, I've seen Speaker 3 (2:52) it, yeah. Speaker 2 (2:53) Yeah, anyway, it's exactly what the Crown Casino staff waiters wear. Speaker 2 (3:00) So because... Speaker 3 (3:01) Love, I've missed out on a soup over here. Yeah, Speaker 2 (3:03) because they didn't really hear the introduction when I was introduced. I think they all thought that the waitress had just got up there. To let you Speaker 3 (3:08) know about the specials. Speaker 2 (3:09) Yeah. To tell you that your drinks are going to be a while, guys. I Speaker 3 (3:14) think the special was in Indonesian. I think we're getting some nasi goreng. I Speaker 2 (3:17) think Speaker 3 (3:17) we're getting Speaker 2 (3:17) some nasi goreng and some oreo and tuk biji bijan. Speaker 3 (3:20) That's it. Yeah, I did a gig for years ago in the aquarium in the donut-shaped room. We're in the hole of the donut. There's a massive fish tank. So Speaker 2 (3:28) a third of Speaker 3 (3:29) the people couldn't see you. Speaker 2 (3:30) And Speaker 3 (3:31) they were all spare parts, car spare parts people. Speaker 2 (3:33) Wow. Speaker 3 (3:34) The guy goes, yeah, there's a table of Indonesians. I don't speak English. I'll put them up the front. Speaker 2 (3:38) Oh, yeah, great. Great. Put them up the front. Put them up the front. Speaker 3 (3:41) They're just sort of smiling and just confused. Like, why is this fat guy, when's he bringing out a carburettor? I don't know what's happening up here. What's his product? Speaker 2 (3:48) The grain people were all very polite. But I had thought I was going to do a gig. for like the grain industry, like, you know, quinoa and farro and barley and all those grains that you eat as a vegan. So I thought, oh, these will be my people. Anyway, turns out they're the people that grow the grain that feeds the beef, that feeds the nation and feeds the world. Speaker 3 (4:13) So they're all Queenslanders and stuff. Speaker 2 (4:15) Yeah, so they're big beef people. Speaker 3 (4:16) Beef people, beef country. The Speaker 2 (4:18) grains for cattle, it's not for humans. Speaker 3 (4:20) No, they're like, we don't do that stuff. But anyway, Speaker 2 (4:22) they were very nice, very polite men. We Speaker 3 (4:24) don't do that hippie stuff around here. I should have found Speaker 2 (4:26) myself a husband. There were a lot of men in that room. There would have been Speaker 3 (4:28) heaps of men. Heaps of men. Or my demo. I'm sure you'd have to move to King of Royal somewhere. But anyway, Speaker 2 (4:36) marry Speaker 3 (4:37) a peanut farmer. All right. All right. Well, good news. Exciting news. So excited. This Speaker 2 (4:43) segment is called We're Back. Speaker 3 (4:45) Yeah, we're back. Speaker 2 (4:46) And that's Alan's. Speaker 3 (4:47) Alan's have got this thing at the moment where they're bringing back some of the classics and putting them in packets. Speaker 2 (4:54) In bag form. Speaker 3 (4:55) Black cats are back? Speaker 2 (4:56) Yeah, but black cats have not been away. I know, I know. That was a scam the way they added black cats to that because black cats have never been away. I've been buying them. Speaker 3 (5:05) And what else did they add? Teeth? Speaker 2 (5:06) Spearmint leaves are back. Oh. Speaker 3 (5:08) Oh, they're back. So that is, Speaker 2 (5:09) they have gone and come back. Speaker 3 (5:10) And teeth, but teeth didn't go away for a long time. Teeth have Speaker 2 (5:13) always still been available in the retro party. Yes. Which is why I never buy it because I don't like teeth. Speaker 3 (5:19) Oh, I like them. Speaker 2 (5:20) I don't like them. Big one that's come back. This is Speaker 3 (5:22) big. Green frogs. Green frogs. And they're big green frogs. Yeah. And I bought two packets when I was in Koolangatta. I tell you what, I ate all of these on the plane. Yeah. Speaker 2 (5:33) I Speaker 3 (5:33) don't know. I just. I love red frogs. I only love the big ones, though. Speaker 2 (5:37) Yeah, I know. But we both agree on that. Speaker 3 (5:39) The little ones are different. Speaker 2 (5:40) They're different. Different Speaker 3 (5:41) flavour. Speaker 2 (5:41) Not as good. Not as chewy. Speaker 3 (5:44) Not Speaker 2 (5:44) as good. I'm so excited to eat a green frog. It's been a long time. Let's eat it. Eat one. There's been too much talk about grain. Speaker 4 (5:56) The Speaker 3 (5:56) chew on that. Fantastic. Speaker 2 (5:58) How good is it? There is no other green flavour like a green frog flavour. Speaker 3 (6:03) My son, I was saying, yeah, he said, what are you doing? My oldest son, I was like, green frogs. He goes, oh, what flavour are they? Like apple? I'm like, typical young person. Mate, he's had too many bad lollies. Speaker 2 (6:15) Apple? Speaker 3 (6:16) These are lime and they are, it is a great lime. Speaker 2 (6:19) It's classic lime. That's what lime used to taste like. Speaker 3 (6:23) In the bottle. I love lime. Speaker 3 (6:28) I Speaker 2 (6:28) don't even think I want a red frog after that. I could end the episode now. Speaker 3 (6:32) On the green frog. Speaker
