Joe Kent is here, retired Green Bay, served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, including a time in a classified special missions unit and 11 combat deployments, earning six bronze stars. He served as a paramilitary officer for the CIA Special Activity Center. most recently served as the director for National Counterterrorism Center and served as a foreign policy advisor to President Trump. He's also the author of the book, Send Me the True Story of a Mother at War that honors his late wife. Welcome to the show, Joe Kent. Hey, Joe. Speaker 2 (1:16) Great to be here. Thanks for having me. Speaker 1 (1:17) All right. Fantastic. And I don't want to brag, but Joe follows me on Twitter. It's not a big deal. It's not a big deal. I don't want to brag. But, you know, Joe, there's so many things that I want to get to, especially the third party, the America First party. Because that really interests me, right? But the first thing I want to do is I've played this clip on the show. since he said it back in 2016. This is Chuck Schumer at the time he was the head of the Senate, the leading Democrat in the Senate, and basically the head of the party. And he said this to Rachel Maddow. Let's just listen. Speaker 4 (1:59) Shots, this antagonism is taunting to the intelligence community. Speaker 5 (2:02) You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you. Even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he's being really dumb to do this. Speaker 4 (2:13) What do you think the intelligence community would do if they were motivated Speaker 2 (2:16) to? Speaker 4 (2:16) I don't know, but Speaker 5 (2:17) from what I am told, they are very upset with how he has treated them and talked about them. And we need the intelligence community. We don't know what's going on. Speaker 1 (2:26) So what I point out to people, they're talking about Donald Trump and he's saying he's antagonizing the intelligence community and they have six ways. to Sunday to get back to them. And what he unwittingly revealed there is that the intelligence community doesn't work for the president, that he can't tell them what to do, and they're going to get back at him. So he's got to watch his P's and Q's around the intelligence community. He actually serves them. And if he doesn't, they're going to come at him. So. Of course, if Rachel Maddow wasn't a plant from the military industrial complex, she would have followed up with that question. Well, if the intelligence community doesn't work for the president, who do they work for? So my question to you, Joe, is who does the intelligence community work for? Speaker 2 (3:16) Well, that's a great question. And I would say by and large, most people in the IC, good folks, patriots, they want to keep America safe. But there is a protective rung, a deep state, whatever you want to call it, that from everything that we can tell, they don't report to the president and they don't serve the interest of the American people. By and large, they are protecting themselves and they are trying to make sure that their organizations or individual agencies. are never audited, are never scrutinized, and that retain control over what they do. One of the key things I think that we saw from the Epstein files, a little preview that we got, was that there does appear to be something that operates outside of most world governments that is active. And unfortunately, I don't think we've done a good enough job of going after. a lot of the sacred cows within the IC to have declassification and to have true transparency for the American people. So this is a major issue. And, you know, people will say, hey, it's a crazy conspiracy, but that whole terminology and that attack. was pioneered by the intelligence community to make sure that there were no investigations. And so I think it's really, really important that either President Trump corrects course, I'm not sure if he can, or whoever it is that we get in the White House next, they make it a mission to put people in charge of the IC who actually understand how the IC works so that we can start getting some accountability and some transparency. Because if we don't have that, then the fundamental question will be, well, who actually runs our country? Speaker 1 (4:43) Yeah, I mean, that's so, you know, any guesses? I mean, honest to God, that's been my question ever since I saw that. That's almost, that's 10 years ago now. That's so, who do they work for? And because they're the permanent state. So at the very least, and they were bragging all through Trump's first term that presidents come and go, we're the ones who are here forever. And so, you know, the CIA was caught spying on senators and nothing happened. to them at all. So it's like, it seems like the, much like the AIPAC lobby, they have a, the intelligence community has a stranglehold on our government, or at least our elected leaders. And so any guesses at who they're working for at all? Speaker 2 (5:32) I mean, from what I can tell, by and large, you have folks who run these agencies, who came up through these agencies, who are protecting their own hold on power. What we saw from the Russiagate was, by and large, that kind of leaned a little bit more establishment or maybe even a little bit more Democrat the way they use the Russiagate. hoax to go after President Trump. But then I think with this Iran war, what we've seen, the way that this was foist upon the Trump administration, there's obviously the Israeli influence, but this shows that it kind of doesn't matter who you vote for. You're going to get a war in the Middle East. You're going to get an expanding intelligence surveillance state, expanding budgets and no real audits. Like I said, the Epstein files to me, I mean, obviously there was all the horrible sex trafficking and all those crimes that we need justice for. But there also appears to be some degree of coordination amongst that, for lack of a better term, the Epstein class. And I think Epstein was just one faucet of it. I think he was just essentially a fixer. But there does appear to be a coordinated effort that is global in its nature, that involves banks, major corporations, different intelligence services, where they are working with each other outside the reach and outside the scope of what most regular people would consider to be the government, the elected officials. Speaker 1 (6:47) I mean, so after World War II, there was a concerted effort to make sure that democracy couldn't get in the way of the global governance. For instance, they set up the CIA. Then they set up the Bank of International Settlements, which nobody has control over. Then they set up the IMF and all those. Speaker 1 (7:12) You just said it, that like our vote doesn't matter. Our vote doesn't matter. But that's been the position of this show for a long time, that no matter. Well, you know that saying, no matter who you vote for, you get John McCain. I'm sure you've heard that. And so what what could what's I mean, Donald Trump wouldn't release the JFK files. And he told I think he told. Judge Napolitano, that if you saw what I saw, you wouldn't release it either. And so he's obviously scared of of the intelligence community. And what so if the president of the United States, who's supposed to be the most powerful man in America, which makes him the most powerful man in the world, if he's afraid, what what possibly can we do to get ourselves out of the stranglehold of this of the blob? As Mike Benz puts it, well, of the deep state of the people who actually run things, because it's also our position here that the elected people are just middle managers. They don't actually represent the voters. They represent the donor class, which is in cahoots with the intelligence community and the globe, the W.E.F. and the Bank of all of that. So what possibly could we do to get out of this stranglehold by this blob? Speaker 2 (8:30) Well, I think if it was completely hopeless and our votes didn't truly matter, then the ruling class, they wouldn't have to spend so much money on propaganda and all these different means of controls. I think right now they're benefiting from most people being too busy. And this is probably one of the reasons or the drivers behind why the economy is not doing well. But they're relying on most people being too busy to take the time to do research on individual candidates, to look into where the money is coming from and what will truly influence those leaders once they're in office. I think there's a lot that we can learn. from, you know, the Trump's presidency from the time he came down the golden escalator to how much the establishment fought him. You know, they tried to take him out with Russiagate. They tried to impeach him. They tried to indict him. And then at some point they decided that like he's basically inevitable. And that's when the assassination attempt started. And since then, we've seen multiple assassination attempts. We've seen multiple public breaches of his security. So when people ask me how we got into the Iran war, once I get done, and I'm happy to do this here, describing how the Israelis influenced President Trump and how he got a lot of bad intelligence, how they played to his ego. Once you get past that, I still think that President Trump wasn't simply fooled. I think he's a pretty smart guy. But something that I think that we have to examine, and this is the way I would look at any country that I was assessing, especially as an intelligence professional. If you look at the way that there was multiple assassination attempts against President Trump, multiple breaches of his security, the public assassination of Charlie Kirk, and then this war was foisted upon him, I would say, hey. There probably is a case to be made. There's definitely a potential that he is being sent a message that he's not truly in charge here. And I think there's a lot that we can learn from that. But at the same time, this system, this machine, the deep state, whatever it truly is. they still do fear the American people. They still want to spend probably billions of dollars propagandizing us. They still are working very hard to make sure that electronic voting machines have some degree of control. But I think both of Trump's elections in 16 and 24 showed that the control methods that they have, they can be overridden by the will of the people. So I'm not quite there yet. I think our votes still very much do matter. But I think if we're ever going to get... full control of our government, if we're ever going to get accountability and disclosure for who actually controls our nation, we are going to have to have a lot of people look beyond their traditional partisan lens and say, hey, there is a greater good here. And if we work together, we could actually achieve this goal of getting control of our government. Speaker 1 (10:57) So I think what happened in 2016 was that for some reason, the deep state screwed up and they didn't think Trump was going to win. And then he got in and they panicked. It was this exactly the same time Brexit happened. And so the international globalists who actually run thing made sure that that those two things would never happen again. And so, of course, then they went after Donald Trump with the bogus, which was manufactured by the FBI. And Barack Obama was aware that it was Russiagate was a fraud. That's been revealed. And and yet they went along with it. So because it served two purposes. Once it discredited him. And his, you know, anti-war agenda and his populist agenda. And it also set the stage, it primed the pump for Americans to be ready for a war in Ukraine against Russia. And so then in 24, Donald Trump ran on this. He's this. populist agenda once again he's going to fight big agriculture he's going to end all the wars and invest that money back at home and he's going to do a pen a dose as accounting on the pentagon and everything else and he's going to reduce our deficit and he's going to bring free speech back now he's done the exact opposite like from day one he's been doing the exact opposite a 180 and so i my uh You know, my theory is that in 2024, the CIA knew he was going to or the deep state knew he was already made a deal that he was going to flip. And that's why they allowed him to become president in 2024. And what. Would you because they tried to, you know, they bankrupt, they tried to bankrupt him. They did all the lawfare. They put his lawyers in jail. They put his political advisers in jail and they were trying as hard as they could to put him in jail. And then at some point, Donald Trump got his mind right. And he decided, OK, if you can't beat him, join him. And that's what obviously that's what happened. Right. So would you agree with that? What would you say to that supposition? Speaker 2 (13:08) It's hard to counter it because in order to counter what you just said, you have to say that President Trump got into office with the full intent of fulfilling the agenda that he ran on. And then he just screwed it up or he was just convinced to do the exact opposite of all the things that he had advocated for. And even in his first term, although his first term. was not perfect. You could tell he was fighting the entire time. I mean, he was fighting the deep state. They were trying to indict him. He was trying to do troop withdrawals. He didn't start any new wars. He had pressure to do the Iran war in his first administration and he didn't take the bait. So in order for what you laid out to be false, you kind of have to believe that Trump got in and all of a sudden on January 20th, he just... screwed things up or he was just completely gullible. And I personally don't believe that. I know there's a lot of folks who don't like Trump who've always said like, no, he was always duping you guys or, you know, he really is just kind of dumb and egotistical. I don't believe that at all. I think he's very smart. I think one of his strong suits is that he can take in large sets of data and see where his leverage is and see where his weaknesses are. And I think to your point, somewhere after the
