I Speaker 1 (0:10) want people to hear this because that are suffering, that they've lost children, that they're sick, that all these things that are happening, that they're really stuck in suffering. What if... Speaker 2 (0:22) You talk about the power of self-love and self-compassion and the impact it has on our body and our well-being. There Speaker 1 (0:29) is real science around this, both the science of self-love and the science of gratitude. When we step into the self-love, it lowers all the stress hormones. It creates a healthier environment within us. First step is to raise the consciousness from this kind of happening to me. And when you get to the idea of this quantum energy that is the fabric of all things and making me up and I am part of it, then we get into it's life is happening through me. And that step alone puts you further into this, the creator's mindset. Do Speaker 2 (1:07) you believe there's a power that's greater than ourselves? Do you believe in God? Speaker 1 (1:12) I do. I do. There has to be. You know, I've had too many experiences. We have this ability to feel such a relief that we start to tear up and cry. Why do we have faith? Because whether it's true or not, I feel whole. I feel safe. I support it. I feel loved. And when I feel that way, I can make others feel that way. And isn't that enough? Speaker 2 (1:36) Congratulations on your book. Thank Speaker 1 (1:38) you. The Speaker 2 (1:39) Book of Possibility. That's Speaker 1 (1:41) right. So a lot of people have written in questions. Your girlfriend and all of our best friend, Jennifer Aniston, how do you process that when you see all kinds of stories out there of, you know, Jen and Jim are getting married. Jen and Jim are... Jen Speaker 1 (3:10) and Jim go to Greece. Yes. Eloped in Greece. Speaker 2 (3:13) Yes. Speaker 1 (3:14) Don't Google yourself again, Jim, Speaker 2 (3:15) to Speaker 1 (3:17) see what the news is saying today. And that took like three or four months. Speaker 2 (3:22) Have you had any of the stories out there ever hurt your feelings? Speaker 1 (3:25) Yeah, some things have hurt my feelings. Speaker 2 (3:28) Do you guys think you look alike at all? Like a hint? We're Speaker 1 (3:32) both Greek. Yeah, we look alike. That's the Greek in us. Speaker 2 (3:35) Like real life Barbie, real life Ken. Like a hint. A Speaker 1 (3:39) Greek Ken and Barbie. Greek Ken and Barbie. Speaker 2 (3:41) Looking back at earlier years in your life, I know you were married before and have a son. And for your identity, who was Jim then and who is Jim now? And how has your identity shifted? Speaker 1 (3:55) Yeah, that's a really good one. Speaker 2 (4:01) Can you talk about what hypnosis is really? Speaker 1 (4:04) I love it because it is the ability to get into a deeper state of focus. If I call it hypnosis, people are like, oh no, you're going to control my mind. Do Speaker 2 (4:14) you think people are scared of the idea that they'll lose control if they're in a hypnotic state? Speaker 1 (4:19) Yeah, I think that they're scared that they will be controlled and lose control. Your mind has so many safety mechanisms. The biggest part is our memories. We can go into self-hypnosis, into our subconscious mind, reimagine that, right? So that the new memory becomes more real than the old memory. The potential in the future reality is so much greater. We all have this intuition. We are all naturally plugged into something greater. And we have these knowings and these intuitions, whether it's our innate psychic abilities. I don't know what you want to call it. We have them. I'm sure you do and everybody else does. You just have to call it, right? You do. Yeah. Do you believe Speaker 2 (4:59) we can time travel? You've talked about past life regression. Speaker 1 (5:05) Soul contracts. So you and I may have had a contract at some time and we Speaker 2 (5:09) said, Speaker 1 (5:10) you know what? When we come to this world, we'll meet someone listening to this that doesn't believe in spirituality or it's going to think that like, we're Speaker 2 (5:16) both nuts. When Speaker 1 (5:17) you're feeling stuck, really the only way to get unstuck is to take a step. I've actually never said that out loud to anybody in an interview before. Speaker 1 (6:27) You know how to get there. Speaker 3 (6:30) Your brain and your spirit and your heart is like, wow, Melinda French Gates. When I look into Jamie's eyes, I feel like I am on some other cosmic level with her. Megan, Duchess of Sussex. I Speaker 2 (6:46) wasn't expecting that one. I could see the light around her. She's infused with light. Maria Shriver. I never made that mistake again. Imagine overcoming self-doubt, learning to believe in yourself and trust yourself and know you are enough. Welcome to the Jamie Kern Lima Show. Jamie Speaker 3 (7:07) Kern Lima is her name. Everybody needs Jamie Kern Lima in their life. Jamie Kern Lima. Jamie, you're so inspiring. Jamie Kern Lima. Speaker 2 (7:21) There's a lot of people out here that are not familiar with hypnosis or they have misconceptions about it. And when they hear about hypno coaching and hypno meditations, can you talk about what hypnosis is really and what hypno coaching and hypno meditations are for people that are just hearing about it for the first time? Speaker 1 (7:41) Right. So as a coach, hypnosis is a tool in my toolkit, right? And as you come to build the house, You have many different tools and hypnosis is one. I love it because it is the ability to get into a deeper state of focus. Just imagine that you're in a very busy train station. People are running around. Everything's happening. And you put on your headphones and you put on an eye mask and you can still get into focus. It's the ability to... push aside the static of our mind for a moment and go within into perhaps our subconscious mind, into the thoughts and feelings of the theta state, which is a brainwave state, which is deeper concentration and often associated with hypnosis. Now, Meditation gets into hypnosis. Transcendental meditation really gets into hypnosis. But guess what else? Scrolling on your phone, Instagram, you get into a state of hypnosis. Watching advertisements on TV, so good at hypnosis. Blinking lights and like moving statements in music and then a suggestion, buy this product. Or with Instagram, it is more, or with social media, I should say, it is more. Go to this next piece of content, right? So we're, or a long drive. Today I was driving down here an hour and 15, 20 minutes and I found myself having these amazing ideas. Speaker 2 (9:13) I Speaker 1 (9:13) was like, why am I having such good ideas? Oh, I need to drive more because I had this long stretch of road where I was able to just focus on the road and everything else went and all the thoughts came up because I went into a theta state while I was driving. Please do that. carefully. So we go into hypnosis all the time. Now, this is how powerful words are, right? If I call it meditation, everybody's like, okay, I can accept that. If I call it hypnosis, people are like, oh no, you're going to control my mind, right? So let's call it something different. Let's call it a hypno meditation. Let's call it whatever you feel most comfortable with, but recognize that you're not comfortable with a word and it creates a feeling in your body. And therefore, we can do anything with words. See how powerful they are, Speaker 3 (9:59) right? Speaker 1 (10:00) Now, let's call it something different. Same with everything else in your life. What you say affects you. So hypnosis, this kind of idea of stage hypnosis and putting you under control and like getting you to act like a chicken or like a watch and having like this get out moment. Speaker 1 (10:19) It's not what I do. And it's not what anybody does. There are parlor tricks. And then there's hypnosis that's a deeper state of focus so that we can re-envision our lives in a safe place. Speaker 2 (10:30) Do you think people are scared of the idea that they'll lose control if they're in a hypnotic state? Speaker 1 (10:36) Yeah. I think that they're scared that they will be controlled and lose control. That there is like something that says... you know, I'm going to make you do something you don't want, which is totally impossible. Your mind has so many safety mechanisms. If I was to put you under hypnosis and be like, you're going to transfer all your money to me, your subconscious mind would say, wait, open your eyes right now. And Speaker 2 (11:01) you feel like, Speaker 1 (11:01) get out. So we're, you know, our subconscious mind will protect us a lot more than we think. Speaker 2 (11:08) And so when we go into a hypnotic state ourselves, we can still control coming out of it. Speaker 1 (11:16) Yes. If I was to put you into a hypnotic state right now. Can you put Speaker 2 (11:19) yourself in one? Speaker 1 (11:20) Yes. Self-hypnosis is really a powerful tool. And I teach people how to do self-hypnosis. It is a really powerful tool to give ourselves suggestions, right, from our higher mind. And even then, if I was to put you in the deepest, you know, hypnotic trance, if you could open your eyes if you felt uncomfortable. And I even put that suggestion in. move or feel uncomfortable, it doesn't matter. Your mind may wonder or wander, drift or dream, or you may just want to open your eyes. But you could also listen to everybody. It's giving yourself options. And so you can do this with yourself from your higher mind. Count yourself down and put yourself into a state of theta. where you become more suggestible. Speaker 2 (12:05) And Speaker 1 (12:06) that's to either suggestions from Instagram or an advertisement or from your own mind and how you want to be. Speaker 2 (12:14) The Speaker 1 (12:14) biggest part is most of our memories, they only live within our mind, right? It's no longer happening. And we remember things skewed based on the beliefs that we had that came, right? So as a child, dad didn't come to the... football game and we think, you know, dad was never there, never showed up, doesn't love us. And so we can go into self-hypnosis, into our subconscious mind, reimagine that, right? So that the new memory becomes more real than the old memory. Speaker 2 (12:44) And Speaker 1 (12:45) if that is the case, then the opportunity. Speaker 1 (12:51) The potential in the future reality is so much greater. And you can do this with fears and phobias. I did this with a woman at one of my workshops. She was afraid of snakes. Speaker 1 (13:07) Couldn't go outside walking. She lived in a very rural area and all she thought about was snakes. Couldn't go outside walking. And I said, who cares? Don't go outside. Don't go into a snake. You're like, there's not enough snakes around, you know, for this to be an issue in your life. I said, can't you just live with this? And knowing that there's always a deeper meaning. Speaker 2 (13:27) And Speaker 1 (13:27) she said, well. Yeah. My husband and son go hiking all the time. I was like, okay, you'll see them for lunch when they get back. Well, I feel left out. Oh, so what happens when you feel left out? This is the questioning. Well, I feel like I'm disconnected from my son when I can't experience these long hikes with them because I have a phobia of these snakes. Okay, so the real issue is disconnection. Speaker 2 (13:56) So Speaker 1 (13:56) you want to be connected as a family having this experience and you feel shameful that you can't because you have a fear. Okay, so first we think about how awesome it will be when you're hiking with your son and your husband with no fear. So let's get connected to the future state that you want because it exists now. I can see her drop her shoulders and her heart open up and like, yes, I can't wait for that. Okay, so you already feel the emotion now. So the reality is already starting to happen. Now, we went into a quick trance state, and we said, when was the first time this fear came up? Well, my grandmother said something. And we reframed what her grandmother said, showed her that that child didn't have to be afraid of snakes anymore. It took about six minutes. She came back, opened her eyes, said, I feel great. I said, are you going to go hiking with your son? Yes, I think so. One to ten, are you afraid of snakes? Zero. One to ten, how excited are you to go hiking with your son and husband? Ten. Okay. Tell me if it works. Call me. She was hiking that entire weekend. We were up in New York. And six months later, she sent me a picture of her hiking with her son and husband. And so that's what hypnosis can do. Speaker 2 (15:14) You talk about having an experience where you sort of had a vision of your future self once you hit your 50th birthday and being in like this loving relationship and all these things. Was that a practice you did back then that then came to fruition? Like, did you imagine the emotions, what you just described? Did you imagine the emotions around what that would all be like? And then now it's happened. Speaker 1 (15:38) I think that's a different part. I think that we all have this intuition. We are all naturally plugged into something greater. And we have these knowings and these intuitions and we call it instincts, whatever it is. But when we quiet our mind down more, we can more finely attuned to those. Whether it's our innate psychic abilities, I don't know what you want to call it. We have them. Speaker 2 (16:04) And Speaker 1 (16:04) so when I quiet myself down from my fears, I often have knowings. I'm
