So what actually happened on board? I'm Tristan Redman, host of the Global Story podcast from the BBC. On arrival, witness accounts described a stabbing in the cockpit of the plane. The Israeli prime minister called it an extremely severe security incident, which could be crucial weeks before a general election in Israel. For more, listen to the Global Story on bbc.com or wherever you get your pods. Speaker 1 (0:34) you Speaker 1 (0:37) BBC Radio 2, 10 to the top. Speaker 2 (0:40) So let's welcome Martin Glover in Devon. All right, my lover? Speaker 4 (0:44) Good morning, Vern, thank you. Speaker 2 (0:46) How are you, Martin? Very well, thank you. Excellent stuff. Now, Devon, is that cream first or jam first? That's a Speaker 4 (0:52) good question. We go both ways in our house, so I'm jam on top. Fair enough. You've just retired? I have, yes, Speaker 2 (0:59) yes. Good for you, good for you. Was it something that you've been longing for or was it a decision that was made kind of overnight? You just thought, you know what, it's time. Speaker 4 (1:08) Well, the latter, yeah. It's just a natural end to a long and enjoyable career, really. Speaker 2 (1:14) Just the right time to do what needs to be done. Yeah, you were in the financial advisory business. Speaker 4 (1:20) Yes, I was. Speaker 2 (1:21) And I would imagine you've tapped out at the right time because financial advice is even more difficult now with what's going on in the world. It hasn't got easier in the last decade, that's Speaker 4 (1:30) for sure. Speaker 2 (1:30) You're trying to learn guitar as well? Speaker 4 (1:32) Yes, I've been playing for nearly 10 years. It wouldn't sound like that, but I've been playing for nearly 10 years. Speaker 2 (1:37) And is it something you do regularly? Just pick up the guitar? Or do you set yourself a specific time and date in the diary? Speaker 4 (1:43) Yeah, I try and play every day, especially now. So yeah, I try and play for an hour every day and work on music theory and any four-chord love song that I fancy butchering. Speaker 2 (1:56) Have you performed anything in front of anyone? Speaker 4 (1:59) Only once, only once, at a, around a campfire when we were with friends some years ago. I don't think that's for me. I think this is a, what should we call it? It's an individual pleasure rather than a performance. Speaker 2 (2:14) Saying that though, you do like live music. You've seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen, Iron Maiden, Queen with Alan Lambert recently. Speaker 4 (2:20) Yes, yes. Stevie Wonder as well at the beginning of all of that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, Speaker 2 (2:24) I Speaker 4 (2:24) love live music. I love live music. Yeah. Yeah. So Speaker 2 (2:27) how is your music knowledge? I mean, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen, Iron Maiden, Queen with Adam Lambert. Sounds like a great mix. Love a power chord. We'll call it, Speaker 4 (2:34) yeah, we'll call it eclectic, but really 70s and 80s due to my age. Speaker 2 (2:41) Good luck. This is your run on 10 to the Top. Speaker 1 (2:56) To the top on Radio 2. Speaker 2 (3:03) In September 2027, which famous band will play a series of hotly anticipated gigs at Nebworth, 31 years since they last performed there? That'll be Oasis. It is Oasis, yes. Well done. Gets you a point.
