Speaker 3 (0:00) Welcome to Staying Relevant, the podcast hosted by two best friends who are back in the room together. Me, Sam Thompson, and Peter, James, Jonathan, Joseph Wicks. Got a bit of a skeleton crew actually today, don't we? No, Speaker 2 (0:16) just Kira off. Speaker 3 (0:17) We've got one person down at the moment, so Josh is on his own whilst trying to man two cameras. Speaker 2 (0:21) Yeah, what a guy. What a guy, what a dude. Who's on Speaker 3 (0:25) the pod as well. Speaker 2 (0:26) Yeah. Should we finish the intro? Yeah, sorry, let's go. So this is the main episode, which means it's Monday, so you'll be able to watch this on Josh and Kira's YouTube channel from 5pm on Wednesday, and then we'll be doing a bonus episode, which comes out Thursday audibly, which you can watch on Josh and Kira's YouTube channel from 5pm on Sunday, which means you can catch us on a... Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and of Speaker 3 (0:47) course a Sunday. Speaker 2 (0:48) Rate, review, do all of that crap. They'll be swearing if you don't like it. Go f*** yourself and everyone you know. Speaker 3 (0:54) And everyone you know, that's a new one. Yeah, yeah. Not just you, fuck your family as well. Speaker 2 (0:59) Yeah. I Speaker 3 (1:00) don't like the fact Kira's not here. I'm now like looking for someone to like, do you know who I'm not missing though? Peter, because we're together every single day at the moment. Speaker 2 (1:09) Yeah, I mean, look, we're back on the pod together. It's been, you know, lots of things have been going on over the past, I'd say, six weeks. You know what I mean? Sam was off. He had a very important engagement. He was playing golf. And obviously I was off for a period of time because I was in a different country. But we are back together. But not just in this, because we have started filming a new show. Speaker 3 (1:32) We're TV stars, bitches. Speaker 2 (1:34) Yes, we, Sam and I, which you probably have seen, have got a TV show together. So we have started filming. We're about a week into filming. Is that it? We're about four days in. Oh my Speaker 3 (1:48) God, we're four days in. It feels like three weeks. So Speaker 2 (1:51) I'm literally, for the next however long, going to be seeing Sam almost every day. Are you loving it? I'm doing it. No, you're loving it. I'm doing it. Do you know how I know you're loving it? Because Speaker 3 (2:02) I spoke to Pippa yesterday. She called me. She went, he's quite fond of you at the moment. I was like, what do you mean? She goes, he goes, yeah, you know, he's enjoying the show. He was like, he's having a really good time. I was like, come Speaker 2 (2:11) on. Yeah, it's been a while since Sam and I have sort of done a TV show together. Our last one, you may remember, Reality News was cancelled. Sam cancelled it. Not even the lie either. So let's just hope that this one goes better. It has been a tough first week for one of us. One of us is absolutely fine and it's going as expected. We're kind of looking into looks maxing and biohacking and all that sort of stuff. So there's a few things that Sam and I have done together, a few things that are coming up. but we did kind of go and see a longevity doctor. Speaker 3 (2:48) We did. We went to see a, should I say his name? No, no, no. I think you just need it. We went to this like really Speaker 2 (2:54) - Speaker 3 (2:54) We had a few tests Speaker 2 (2:55) done, didn't we? Speaker 3 (2:55) Yeah, we got some tests done. And do you know what? We're not getting into the full works of it because obviously we want you to watch it, but there is something that we've agreed that we're going to discuss on this pod. We did like a basic startup test, me and Pete, where you sort of like- Test your basic biological age, I guess. Speaker 2 (3:11) Well, so basically we did a skin, like a facial 3D scan. And we did a body. kind of scan so with the body scan you basically just stand in your pants and uh and then this thing fucking you know takes loads of pictures and kind of works out some different things about you now pre this we had a little consultation where we had to discuss you know health issues and whatever else as you can imagine sam's went on for about three and a half hours um as a hypochondriac he's you know i've got this i've got this i've got this i'm worried about this i'm worried about this i'm worried about this mine was roughly sort of 30 40 seconds of i'm fine Speaker 3 (3:44) Do you know Speaker 2 (3:45) what's so... Speaker 3 (3:45) No, he said to me, the doctor goes, he goes, look, I need you to give me all the bells and whistles, which is what's going on with you and stuff. So I explain, like, family history of diseases. You didn't quite Speaker 2 (3:53) expect there to be as many bells and whistles. Yeah, Speaker 3 (3:55) but there were a lot. There were a lot of bells and whistles. I took about half an hour explaining, like, my ailments and all these things. And he turns to, he goes, oh, there's quite a lot there. He turns to Pete and he goes, what about you? Pete goes, I don't really sleep very well. And that was it. I'm literally sitting there being like, I've got fucking shingles. Oh, by the way, I've got shingles. At the moment, yeah. Speaker 2 (4:13) He's currently got shingles. I've got Speaker 3 (4:14) shingles at present all around my side. Speaker 2 (4:17) It's reminded me a lot of Thailand because those dogs were quite itchy and you're very similar. I actually Speaker 3 (4:22) said to the dog, I'm itching. I kind of use it like a GP session. But it's just like, it's wild the difference between me and Pete where he's like, what have you got going on? All these kind of things. So like for me, I had to talk about like family history and stuff like that. He goes, Pete, family history? Pete goes, don't really know my family. So then you had no answers for him there. And you literally just went. I don't sleep. And then I feel like. Speaker 2 (4:43) He went, so, you know, what would you like to improve on your health? And I went, sleep better. Speaker 2 (4:52) He said, when was the last time you've been to doctors? I don't have a doctor. He's never been to a GP? Yeah. Speaker 3 (4:58) Pete's never been to a GP? I don't have Speaker 2 (5:00) a registered doctor. Speaker 3 (5:00) Mine's on retainer. Speaker 2 (5:02) Yeah, he's got a season ticket. I Speaker 3 (5:04) go in. They know me so well. They know my voice. And this is no joke. So I actually went to my GP last week. And I called up. And I was like, hello. And they were like, oh, hi, Sam. Didn't say my name or anything. Hi, Sam. Good to hear from you. And they were like, do you want your normal slot? Because I normally can't go to the doctor unless it's like early morning. Who has a regular slot with the doctor? They were like, do you want your normal slot? And I was like, yes, please. It was just for the NTAs. I was like, yes, please. So I had a 9am normal slot. And just when the surgery opens. But I had shingles. Speaker 2 (5:36) Well, look. You've constantly got something. Now. Speaker 2 (5:42) My BMI, I'd just like to point out, I am borderline clinically obese. Speaker 3 (5:50) He's not. He's not. He's not even. He's not even. He's actually overdoing it. You weren't even that bad, which fucked me off even more. Speaker 2 (5:57) All right, I'm fat. I'm basically fat. So Sam's very good on the BMI. Speaker 3 (6:03) No, I'm not. I'm standard. Well, that's Speaker 2 (6:05) good, mate. Speaker 3 (6:06) No, I, Jim, four times beat, to reiterate, right? As you can tell, this is, just watch the show. But like Pete doesn't go to the gym. He doesn't gym. He drinks copious caffeine. Red Bull on tap. We're only going to get onto that because we're on the sugar freeze now. But like Red Bull on tap. F***s all the time. Coffee. Never gyms. The most he does is walk his dog. Right? I'm in the gym four times a week. I am like running with Pippa, nearly passing out half marathons, shitting myself. Speaker 2 (6:37) He Speaker 3 (6:37) ran from Speaker 2 (6:37) Manchester to London, cycle. Like Speaker 3 (6:39) fucking, I'm tearing my calf. Has a physio everywhere. Do Speaker 2 (6:43) you Speaker 3 (6:43) know what? So Pete, right? So there's like loads of different boxes and in the middle, on the left, you've got fit and strong and fit. In the middle, you've got standard. On the right, you've got like fat. And then on the far right, obese, right? And Pete is in between standard and fat. Right? So he's not even fat. He's in the in-between. And it's not even his body. It's his inner organs, apparently. It's a little bit large in the inner organs, right? And I'm like, this is where I fucking got him. I'm like, this is my time. I've taken my top off so fucking fast. And I've literally been like, okay, this is it. Let's get on here. Now, I'm standard. I am average. Bang down the middle. I'm closer to Pete than I am fit and strong. And that was the moment, Pete, that I went, Speaker 2 (7:25) I'm going to give it all up. And then it does some other little bits on it. So it goes, you know, into muscle mass and muscle density. And as it turns out, and I think this is the turning point where Sam really lost his head. I have higher muscle density than Sam who goes to the gym. So then at that point, Sam's whole thing for the rest of the day was, well, it's genetics. It doesn't matter what I do. I can never be like that, can I? I'll tell Speaker 3 (7:53) you what, it's pizza mongrel. Speaker 2 (7:54) Right? So Pete Speaker 3 (7:54) doesn't like really know who his dad is probably. I know who my dad is. No, Speaker 2 (7:59) you Speaker 3 (7:59) don't really like Joe. Like it could be anyone. I know Speaker 2 (8:02) exactly Speaker 3 (8:02) my dad. You've got like weird, you've got like a tan, you've got all this. My Speaker 2 (8:05) mum Speaker 3 (8:05) wasn't a Speaker 2 (8:05) whore. I Speaker 3 (8:06) know who Speaker 2 (8:07) my dad is. Speaker 3 (8:10) You've got like, you've got like, I was complaining to Tally about this literally two days ago. I knew you'd go straight up. I went, Tally went, she has a load of bollocks. And she went, yeah, but he's got really olive skin. And I was like, where the fuck's he got that from? You're English. You've got, you've got weirdly, ask Tracy, right? What's been going on? Are you a whore? No, no, Speaker 2 (8:29) no. Because all this whole period, mum, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. You can leave it in. I'm so sorry. My mum's got a good sense of humour. I'm so sorry. All right. I hope to God that Sam isn't right and you're a slag. But I know exactly who my father is. I know exactly who my mother is. But you are tanned. You're quite naturally Speaker 3 (8:49) tanned. Speaker 2 (8:50) But my mum's quite tanned. She does the sun quite well. But either way, listen, genetically. You're just lucky. The doctor effectively said, genetically, I'm wasting myself. Yeah. And you're. doing the best with what you've got. Speaker 3 (9:07) If I had Pete's genetics, I would take over the world. I'd rule the world right now. Like, Pete's the luckiest man. And when we were doing our health assessments, actually, like, and I said this and I meant it with all my soul. Like, he was like, Pete, like, how's your health? I went, doesn't matter, mate. He's a cockroach. Like, he'll survive anything. Nuclear winter could come and the one person on this planet who'll survive while smoking. by the way, is Pete. And he'd be like, fucking, I can't believe everyone's been such a pussy and dying. And like, that's what he'll do. He'll sit there with a red ball of f***ing up. Jesus, quite a grow up. He'll be like, you just rubbed dirt in it or something. Like, it's mental. I just, I've never seen it. So it's come down to genetics. That's what, I'm unlucky and it's my dad's fault, I think. Speaker 2 (9:51) Cole, you're just firing shots at the parents today. I'm Speaker 3 (9:54) unlucky. I've already called up my mum. Speaker 2 (9:58) Well, Look, so it was a tough day, but look, you know, we had a lovely time. It's funny. I think the show is fun. It's Speaker 3 (10:05) going Speaker 2 (10:05) to be good. Yeah. So it'd been sometime next year. We've got a lot of film with lots of different things to do, but we thought we'd just give you a bit of an example of the first week. But the end of the day, it was a lovely place. We went, lovely doctor. He supplied us both with some take-homes and some supplements. One of Speaker 3 (10:21) us would take home some. Speaker 2 (10:22) Of things that we could work on based on what he'd seen that day. Sam took home a sack. of supplements and minerals prescribed by the doctor, he gave me a little vial of things that will help me sleep. Speaker 3 (10:35) Which Pete then gave to me. Speaker 2 (10:38) So, but listen, you need to watch it. It's going to be good. But look, all I'm saying is it's coincided, finding out that sort of stuff, with me being in a slightly different kind of era. You know, I've mentioned that I bought some gym stuff recently. I know, I saw it recently as well. This is big news for everyone. Huge Speaker 3 (10:58) news. Sam finally Speaker 2 (11:00) convinced me to go and play paddle. Speaker 3 (11:03) Took him long enough. And he turned up. My God, by the way. Not only that, he turned up to my neck of the woods. Pippa was there, actually. So, Pippa, you could maybe get on mic here. Pippa, when Pete turned up, I was struck, personally, by how athletic he was dressed. He had, like, his short shorts on. like new gym trainers, like socks pulled up and this really lovely little anorak thing. Which I Speaker 1 (11:27) think you now want. Speaker 3 (11:28) From Amy Leondor, which is like a lovely old brand as well. Speaker 1 (11:31) It's when I was sat on the bench, I was there first and Pete like came around the corner, but I didn't realise it was Pete. And then like, as he got a bit closer, he was smoking. And I was like. shit that's pete and it was do you know what finished off the whole like aesthetic which was given kind of like 90s yeah Speaker 3 (11:46) it was like 90s kind Speaker 1 (11:49) of tennis chic vibe yeah for sure yeah Speaker 3 (11:53) the Speaker 1 (11:53) wired headphones he had the like wired headphones like hanging in front of the like kind of anorak windbreaker vibe and i was like god it just works and then he went Speaker 3 (12:02) and then he went should we get pint yeah and then he was like so Speaker 2 (12:06) so so effectively Sam and I were going to play paddle. We discussed it and then Pippa and Tally joined us and we did a little doubles game. Speaker 2 (12:20) So Pippa and I were kind of waiting outside. So it was Pippa's birthday. We Speaker 3 (12:26) took Pippa for paddle with her bosses for her birthday. It was Speaker 2 (12:29) Pippa's birthday. So Pippa, I had a pint of Guinness and Pippa had a beer and we had a little fag outside waiting for Sam. What we didn't realise was Sam and Tally had already arrived and were getting the warm-up done on the court. So we walk in with a Guinness and a thing. Sam and Tally are having a little rally together and he's, you know, giving us some little tips and whatnot. They're both dressed like paddle pros. And I was thinking, well, I mean, I've never played before. I've seen Pippa's athleticism in previous things we've done and I wasn't confident. But we get in there, we have a little fucking rally and it was kind of Sam and Tally versus Pippa and I. How do you think it went? Speaker 3 (13:14) So... Look, do you know what? I can't mug off my girlfriend, right? So instead I'm going to mug off my friend. Pippa. There was a point where me and Pete met each other at the net and whispered to each other. I'm going to say it now. God, I wish this was singles. Speaker 1 (13:33) Oh, yeah. You really hit that well, though. I had no Speaker 2 (13:35) idea. Do you know what Speaker 3 (13:36) it was? Speaker 2 (13:37) It's like you really tried. Like both girls really tried. Let me just point out as well, just before we get into this. They weren't bad. I wasn't Speaker 1 (13:47) that bad. It wasn't. I agree with Pete. Speaker 2 (13:51) They weren't like, I've seen, I've never played tennis or pad or anything like that. But like, I think if you've got an element of... Hand eye. Yeah, hand eye. And actually your hand eye is not bad. Thank you. Like, they could hit it back. If they just stood and rallied back and forth, they could go on for a while. But anything that involved movement or anything that involved anywhere towards the back of the court. Pippa has, and I didn't realise this, she has an absolute indescribable fear of walls. If that ball went anywhere within about three feet of the wall of the court, oh no. Speaker 1 (14:30) Not for me, that one. It's Speaker 3 (14:32) like she glitched out. There's just a lot Speaker 1 (14:35) going on with the cage and the glass and the corners and then there's... There's just glass all over it. You've Speaker 3 (14:41) got to get through Speaker 1 (14:41) that. You've just got to hit the glass and then you just can't bounce. It's just like those are Pete's shots. Do you know Speaker 3 (14:46) what Speaker 1 (14:46) I mean? Those are paying Speaker 3 (14:47) it. Do you know what I think is Pete was being quite kind there. I would say anything that amounted to effort. Speaker 1 (14:51) No, no, I did a bit of running. You Speaker 3 (14:54) didn't run. You never ran. Speaker 1 (14:56) I
