Speaker 1 (1:29) Episode 521. Speaker 4 (1:34) Hi, welcome to my mom's show. Speaker 1 (1:45) Hello and welcome to this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast. My name is Julia and I'm absolutely delighted to have you join me today. If you're a new listener, like I said, I'm Julia and I'm a certified divorce coach and a certified transition and recovery coach. And I work with mums who are specifically either thinking about separation or divorce or they're going through it or they're coming out the other side. And today's episode is really just a thank you. Let's get into it. Speaker 1 (2:23) Oh gosh. If you're not on my newsletter list, you might not know this. If you haven't listened to the last few episodes, you might not know this, but basically I shared a personal update, which was just to share that I've decided to close my business and the time has come for that. You know, this was something that I've thought about for a really, really long time. I'd say probably from like a year ago, at least a little over a year, which means that this is the last episode of the podcast. I think I have one more. blog post or two more blog posts coming out. My newsletter's finishing up. I think I have one or two more of those sending out. Thrive Tribe is closed. You can no longer join. We are running that up until the end of September before we sort of go into a Thrive Tribe alumni group. That's going to be different to what it has been. And this podcast is turning 10. It's single mother survival guides 10th birthday. which is completely crazy and kind of unbelievable to me. And I'm actually just incredibly, incredibly proud of what I've built, this community that we've all created and the impact that it's had. I cannot believe that I've been doing 10 years of weekly episodes. Speaker 1 (4:02) That is a quarter of my life. Same with like blog post writing and newsletter writing. I've been doing this for years and, you know, all of it has just been with the intention of supporting and guiding you through single mom life and sharing information and creating a community and hopefully giving you a little bit of guidance and inspiration along the way. You know, I've also coached hundreds and hundreds of women. who were either preparing for separation or going through it or rebuilding afterwards, as well as running Thrive Tribe, which, as I mentioned before, is coming to an end. That's been my global online membership experience for single mums. And honestly, over the last decade, supporting women. through separation and through divorce and through single motherhood and through healing and trauma and rebuilding and co-parenting, you know, all of it, it's just been one of the greatest privileges of my life, you know, and I've always been so passionate about this work and I've loved it so deeply and I've thrown my whole self into it. And I've never thought of it as a job because I've just loved it so much. You know, there's that quote, like, if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. I feel like I haven't worked a day in the last 10 years because all of it has been so beautiful. Like every single one of my clients that I've had the pleasure and the privilege of, you know, walking alongside has just meant so much to me. It's been a joy, like being able to be there and support women as they go through one of the hardest times of their life. But then they start to see the light and they start to find themselves and there's this whole new chapter waiting for them. And that's always been so joyful for me to be able to help provide women with this hope and this sense of. this situation being an opportunity. But as I said in my newsletter, the flip side is running a business has also taken a toll. All of this has taken a toll on me and on my family. And I'm not always, and I haven't always been the best at balancing work and family life. And there were times When, especially when my daughter was really little, like when I was starting this business, you know, she was three. Speaker 1 (6:50) And my business took more from my daughter than I would have liked. And, you know, I remember starting this podcast, sitting at the dining table and, you know, I was just in full-time sort of single mum mode during the day. And then, you know, I'd pop her to bed and then I'd work for like the next five hours, you know, from like seven till midnight recording and learning how to create a website so I could put a website up and how to blog and, you know, how to record a podcast and social media. And I did all these trainings and I did, you know, so much further education, which I've loved. You know, I'm a lifelong learner. I love all this stuff. I love learning new things. But it did take a toll on her. You know, I was basically just working around the clock. I was tired all the time because I wasn't prioritizing sleep. And, you know, I got a little bit better at it over the years. But, you know, I think because I'm so passionate about my work and I love it so much as well. And I've always felt this huge sense of responsibility. You know, some of the emails I get and some of the reviews and things like that, like every single one touches me. I take all of that on, you know, and I feel this sense of responsibility. And now that I have Sebi as well, my beautiful little baby boy, who's, how old is he now? Who's now 18 months old. I don't want to make the same mistakes.
