Bring it up, because I just said Greg in Dallas, Texas. Greg sitting across from me in Irving, Texas. Let's be real here and get it right. Put that Fratelli's pizza down and tell them I said hello. Hey, what's up, everybody? Here we are. Yeah, here we are. Can you believe it? Greg, you will be attending the Gun Rights Policy Conference tomorrow morning. That's correct. And we will be introducing you. You are going to sit in while I interview Director Cicada. Sweet. And Chief Counsel Robert Leiter. Now, can you believe this, that we are at a Gun Rights Policy Conference, and I will be interviewing the head of the ATF. Director of Speaker 7 (1:33) the Speaker 5 (1:33) ATF, that's right. and his chief counsel at a gun rights policy conference. Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to think about that. That is historic in and of itself. It has never been done before, and it will be fascinating. It will be up for you. You can watch it live. Maybe Jared, who's sitting here, can tell us where that is to watch. SAF.org has got it live, I'm assuming, and then GRPC. Yeah, the GRPC Speaker 4 (1:55) side of it. The GRPC side. So we'll get into all that. Speaker 5 (1:58) How much fun is that going to be? Speaker 7 (1:58) It's going to be amazing. Do you Speaker 4 (1:59) want Speaker 5 (2:00) to introduce everybody? Yeah, let's do that. Sitting over to my right, your left, let's start with Ryan Petty. If you'll slide that mic over, Anthony. Great to be here, Mark. Ryan Petty in the studio with us. And we've got a fan here who participates in the chat on a regular basis. And I believe I've quoted you a number of times on air because your comments are so great. And it's Anthony Koppenhaver, who is here at the GRPC. He's from Texas. And we invited him here to the studios. We're at the Salem Radio Network studios. And welcome in, brother. It's good to have you here. Thank Speaker 1 (2:25) you, everybody. Speaker 5 (2:26) Yeah, it's great to meet you, and it's great to have you here in the studio. Over to my left, Greg's dead center, is of course YouTube fame, Speaker 4 (2:32) Jared Yanis from Guns and Gadgets. Jared, it's great to be here with you. Dude, it's a pleasure. It's an honor to see this, how it operates in real time. Isn't it cool to see? It's the Speaker 5 (2:40) real thing, isn't it? It's Speaker 4 (2:41) awesome. Speaker 5 (2:41) And I'm going to shake your paw here live because we're actually doing it together in studio this time. And over to your left, I'll let you make that introduction. Go for it. That's Kwong Nguyen. He's already moved the mic over, so we'll do it. The shredder. The shredder. It's great to be Speaker 2 (2:54) here and finally get a break from the heat from Arizona. Oh, come on. Hey, Speaker 7 (3:01) 99 is a break. Speaker 5 (3:02) Be honest. It's great to be here. Great to be here. Beautiful. Good to have you. Thank you. It's a lot of fun to be here. Greg gave us a great tour. And I guess we're just going to get started because we are at the Gun Rights Policy Conference. We had our board meetings yesterday. Everything's great. The future looks bright. Ryan, let me toss it over to you. You're a fellow member at the Citizens Committee on the board with me. Your thoughts on the future of where we're heading with these enormous midterms looming, what this all means going forward. Let's talk about it a little bit. Speaker 6 (3:29) Well, look, I think you hit it at the beginning. We had, I think, you know, you hit it at the beginning, right? This is unprecedented to have the director of the ATF here. talking at a gun rights policy conference. This is fantastic, right? Because they show up at SHOT Show and stuff like that every once in a while, but it's usually to tell us about some new restriction that they're thinking about implementing. And they're despised when they show up. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Not a popular group over there at SHOT. But anyway, so you've got that going on. But as we know on the Citizens Committee, the fight's now really in the states too, right? You know, the federal government can restore the rights that are naturally ours. and try to give us back to a Second Amendment that our founders would recognize. But the left, as I say, will never stop. And so where are they taking the fight? They're taking it to the states. And so as part of the Citizens Committee, our fight is really about how do we work at the state level to protect the Second Amendment and make sure the tyrants at the state level don't do what the federal government. used to do. Jared, Speaker 4 (4:38) jump in here. Yeah, it's huge. Like, we are about to score some touchdowns federally with the Supreme Court, you know, between now and June and shortly thereafter. So that, we're making up some tremendous ground. But like we've said here, the states are where the fight is. So if you're listening at home and you live in one of those blue states, you need to be active. Don't think that everybody else will do it for you. Don't think that Second Amendment Foundation will swoop in and save you. You have to be the voice. You know your state better than anybody else. So become active in your state because who knows, you might be that one person who could be the plaintiff that we need to fix that state. Speaker 5 (5:13) Yeah, I've been picking on New York a lot because it's really easy to do that. And Huckle, for that fan that says I'm mispronouncing her name, it is intentional, by the way, it's Huckle, has made it very clear with her stupid tweets or posts or whatever you want to call them, X, whatever you want to call them, that teenagers shall never buy guns. That's the law in New York, and we're going to keep it that way. Speaker 4 (5:33) Yeah, and you know, and... directly in the face of the DOJ's recent opinion. Their OLC, who basically said there's no text history or tradition that says that's the issue. In fact, the text history and tradition is the exact opposite. Young adults were required to be part of the militia. They were required to be armed with their own stuff, which means acquiring that firearm and showing up with their arms for muster. So the text history and tradition is on our side since 2022 in June when Bruin came down. The foundations of gun control federally have been shattered. And we're seeing those pieces fall into place now. Yes, like everybody else, I want it to happen the very next day in 2022, but that's not how the founders designed this whole system. But we're seeing the fruits of that now. But the next big fight, like we think everybody needs to understand, is in the States. You're going to have, like, balkanization going on. Oh, yeah. It's already happening. So there are states where everybody wants to move to, and there are states where gun owners don't even want to go to. So if you're in one of those, just... Start fixing it now. It's going to be ugly. I do have to ask you this. You're a student of history, and you understand Speaker 5 (6:32) the Constitution in ways a lot of people don't. After the founders wrote our founding documents and life became normal under these new documents, when Paul Revere wanted to buy a new gun as a young man, did he have to get a background check? Speaker 4 (6:48) No, and he didn't have to have a permit either. Yeah, the founding documents. Between Speaker 5 (6:53) states, Speaker 4 (6:53) he didn't have to unpack his gun and put it in a satchel bag so he'd comply with the Virginia law. Didn't have to leave it locked up in the back of the horse, you know. Guys, we're joking about that, and Speaker 5 (7:02) I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face on that. But there's a reason we talk about that, because when we, let's compare that to Hockle's statement. That's New York law. That will never change. Yes, Hockle, it will change, and we're going to see to it, just like we've been requiring you post-Bruin and Bruin itself to change your law. That's where that fight's going when we say it's in the states. Let's do a myriad of at least 12 to 17 states where we're going to see that fight. Yeah, Speaker 4 (7:23) absolutely. And most people understand this. It's always a competition between the typical big ones like Massachusetts, New York, California. Who can be the worst? New York's always up there, too. So, you know, it's always lately been Kathy Hochul who will be the first one. And once the Supreme Court says something, within 15 minutes, she's saying, you know, it won't happen here and we're going to make the fastest law we can possibly do to go around it. But I think that, you Speaker 5 (7:45) know, Speaker 4 (7:45) the court sees that. They're getting fed up with that. I think you're right. And you're going to see some, I think, like Mark said today at the AmCon, you're going to see some policing of the lower courts from the Supreme Court. And it's needed. Speaker 5 (7:59) And you're talking Mark Smith. Mark Smith, yes. Constitutional attorney Mark Smith, four boxes dino. Let's give him a shout out because he's here in town all weekend. We'll be speaking. Speaker 4 (8:06) It's a good time. We need some smackdowns from the bench. It has to happen because it's gone too long. The lower courts are making a mockery of the Supreme Court. decisions and making a mockery of the Constitution, and it's time to fix it. Speaker 5 (8:18) Which is why I believe we're going to get a really strong, really strong decision on the assault weapons ban case. We're going to go back to those decisions in just a moment. As a resident of Texas, Anthony. Do you believe you live in a free state Speaker 1 (8:30) right now? For the most part. I mean, Texas still got some work to do. But kind of hitting on the points earlier, people need to get out and join these organizations. Join the NRA. If you're a Texas resident, join TSRA. Texas gun rights, national gun rights. Join these organizations. These are the people that's fighting for you in the courts. So please, please, please get out and join these organizations. Speaker 5 (8:59) Kwong Nguyen, let me throw the mic over to you real quick. As a Arizona legislator, you are here at the Gun Rights Policy Conference from the Free State of Arizona, and you are the House Judiciary Chair. Why do you have to be at the Gun Rights Policy Center when you are the House Judiciary Chair and shred every anti-gun bill in a very pro-gun state? Why are you here? Speaker 2 (9:18) Listen, you know, the Second Amendment only consists of 27 words. But I will tell you the main reason why I'm here is to learn. I mean, look at all the experts. And I've been saying this for the last few years, is that the more work done being at the conference, the less work we have to do in the House of Representatives. But I will tell you
