And that means I get to say hello to my Speaker 2 (1:22) friend, not only the co-host of the Traders Canada podcast, it's the one and only Scali Speaker 3 (1:27) in the building. We're back, Scali. Speaker 2 (1:31) Oh my God. Hello. Hello. I cannot believe it. I've been so excited for Traders Canada for quite some time. There might be a lot of Traders seasons going on and they're all amazing. You know, I have a special place for Traders Canada. I'm so excited and, you know, so many things to talk about on top of like how great this cast is. So I'm excited. Speaker 3 (1:51) Yeah, we have a lot to talk about, a lot to break down. We had a very fun premiere here and a lot happened. So we're going to unpack all of that. A couple of. programming notes out the gate though make sure you're subscribed to the feed we know traders.com for all of your traders needs myself and scally will be talking to every person that leaves the manor we're gonna have exit interviews this season that'll be on the same feed um also i got to talk with kareen uh earlier and uh we'll get to you'll get to hear all of kareen's thoughts and and reactions to things i got to ask some stuff so you can check out all of that on this very feed And last bit of note is that I'm about to put the graphic up on the video podcast. If you're watching this on video, if you are not, you're in luck. Nothing changes. But if you're watching on video and you want it to stay unspoiled, that time is about to be over in the next three seconds. Here we go. All Speaker 2 (2:45) right, Scali, we got ourselves a cast. We certainly do. What a cast it is. I'm very excited. Speaker 3 (2:53) Okay. So I don't know where you want to kick things off here. I feel like for me, the premiere felt very cinematic. Speaker 2 (3:02) Yeah, I don't disagree. I do feel like they took a, you know, like you said, cinematic route on this. They made it feel very large, very, you know, very big. And I feel like it was a lot of fun seeing even just like the dramatics of them rowing themselves into the manor was very fun. Speaker 3 (3:23) Yeah, I like the entry being the boats, obviously. you know, the old school, the original, the OG is the train that we get on the UK season. So getting something that's not just cars is always going to be a bonus for me. So boats was a nice touch. I liked this quite a bit. It gave it a bit of a dark start to the season, which I did like. And Scali, unlike anything else we've seen before, Judas Canada, they like to do things different out here. Speaker 2 (3:54) They do. They do. I like the traders. Canada is willing to mix it up. I would say often there are hits, occasional misses, but I like that they take their swings and that they try to differentiate themselves. Speaker 3 (4:05) Yeah. Big same. I feel like this is what really separates traders Canada from some of the other franchises. Traders Canada now has had something that was yoinked from them. In New Blood now this season, they're doing the if you vote out a traitor, you get $15,000 if the traitor's banished. So we have that here again. We have the 10K, not 15 here, 10. But the thing that I really liked was that we also had a little bit of a similar intro to the season the way Rob's season of the Traitors was, Traitors U.S. Season 4, where everyone lines up and basically one by one. They are informed whether they are a faithful or a traitor in front of everybody through scroll. But I did like this added twist, Scali, of if you buy that this person is a faithful, cheers and say victory to the faithful. And this was kind of like a test to see how many people are backing you or not. Speaker 2 (5:07) This was interesting. It's definitely a little added element here because obviously they're all going up. They're having to find out there. fate in the game essentially in front of everyone. And so that is a scary prospect as well. But now you find out the real time reaction to your performance immediately. And I feel like sometimes people might've had a bad performance and you might've been a little sketched out on someone, but maybe that's just me. Maybe I'll blow this off. Maybe I'm not going to say anything, but when like 18 people stay silent on top of my doubts. That is going to only compound everyone's reads and a very scary situation for anyone who's getting traitor. But even some people who are getting faith. Speaker 3 (5:52) Yeah, I just I feel like for me, I find myself playing this out of my head and I don't would never want to do this in front of everybody, whether I'm a faithful or traitor, just because I think that if you don't get the reaction you're looking for, you're immediately going to start in a panic, which is brilliant for television, because just make everyone as paranoid as possible off rip. Unless you got a unanimous like victory to the faithful and everyone cheers happily. I can't imagine. you're going to feel good coming out of it. Especially, yeah, go ahead. Speaker 2 (6:25) I'm just going to say, I feel like it is the type of thing where I think it's a fun twist. I do miss the like slow pacing around the round table. I feel like that's a very fun way for us to find out as well. So it's kind of like we, you know, get something, we lose something. It's kind of a little bit of a trade-off, but I think that. And so I don't know which ultimately I do prefer, but I like that they're trying it. I like that we are going to put them to the test and especially with some of the people who are going to ultimately end up as traitors. Speaker 3 (6:57) Yes. So would you like to, I think we should just start talking about some of the casts here. Would you like to start just at the traders and we'll go from there? Cause I feel like it's the premieres. We can just hop around a little bit here. Speaker 2 (7:09) Sure. Let's go ahead. Where do you want to start? I Speaker 3 (7:11) feel like for most of us, we were already well-versed in her and who she is. Let's talk spicy V who is our first traders, a trader announced on the episode. Speaker 2 (7:24) Spicy V. Oh, my God. Honestly, I almost am shocked it took this long to end up on Traders Canada. She is a personality. She's like, I'm going to be here to show that like it could be me who's doing the backstabbing this time. A little bit of, you know, rewriting BB Ken 12. But sure. Spicy is always going to be a personality. I love that she volunteers immediately. Like, you've never heard of me. I'm Spicy V. I was on BB Ken. That's why I have that nickname immediately in her boat. But it goes well even there. I think that a great casting decision. It's already paying dividends. Speaker 3 (8:03) Yeah, I think Spicy V is going to be a very fun character this season. She's shown to be both funny, but also will not back down from an argument. So I think having that is good. Giving her a traitor role makes the most sense to me. This was like a chalk. If I was doing a prediction, this would have been a chalk pick for me. Would have been Spicy V. Now, Spicy V was the one that kind of reacted negatively to her scroll. And I think this was a great choice by her because I do think most people would have assumed you'd want to be a traitor. Yeah, the thing Speaker 2 (8:38) is, I would assume Spicy would want to be a be a traitor. And while I acknowledge that it's a very fun pick and I'm very excited, I almost feel like the traitors usually goes in the direction of. well, this is a person who's going to be fun either way. So let's just make them a faithful because they're going to be sussed. They're going to be a big personality. They're going to have a loud voice at the round table kind of regardless. So we don't really need to make them a traitor. But I think we're getting so much value in the traitors are the main narrators of the shows. They're going to have the majority of the confessionals, the majority of the screen time. And Spicey V is going to... Love those confessionals. Love that camera time. She's going to make the most of it. And so I think it's fun the way she played it. Even better making everyone think that she was disappointed. Speaker 3 (9:23) Yes. Spicy V also does have an ally in this castle. No one knows this. Not many people know this, she says. But myself and Ty were quite close. Speaker 2 (9:34) Ooh. Ty, back here again, who was on the previous season. But due to... be a little miscommunication and an opening twist. Uh, Ty ends up with a very, very early exit last season, uh, which I think a lot of people were quite disappointed to see thought, you know, okay, Ty's here. I want to see how he plays. This game gets a little bit of, uh, you know, there are advocates for and against his big brother, Canada winning game. So, uh, curious to see how he can do with another real shot here, but. Our first ever returning player to the Traders Canada. Speaker 3 (10:11) Our first returnee and not to skip to the ending, Scali. Potentially the first person and only person in the history of Traders to be the first one murdered and then come back and be the first one banished because we ended on a tie note. A tie note, a tie vote. Speaker 2 (10:30) A tie tied vote. Yeah, I do think it's interesting. It's not it would not ultimately be like first boot. That honor did go to another. Unfortunately for Karen, I'll talk about her later. But like kind of Francesca, you know, in that case, like, yeah, kind of double first booted, if possible. Speaker 3 (10:54) It's so incredible to me because Ty comes back in. He legitimately barely had any chance of playing the game. He was in a position where he could have been the traitor or a faithful or a murdered. There was no middle. There was no more traitor for him. Ultimately, Venus becomes our traitor, which while I was happy for, I did feel bad for Ty. Here he is making his return. And I do think for a lot of people, his return, they're reading into it, right? Oh, you brought him back. Why would they bring him back? They like him. If they like him, they wouldn't want to risk him getting murdered again. They're probably going to make him a traitor. I think that's the logic a lot of people are taking to him being back. It's kind of what I said last season when they brought back. Why do I not remember her name? Oh, Dorinda. Yeah, they brought Dorinda back. And I was like, they really wanted Dorinda. So I was like, if there's going to be a housewife in the turret, it's Dorinda. That wasn't the case. That got very quickly debunked. So I kind of feel bad for him here, but I do think we can use this to talk about our next trader. I do think Caitlyn might be saving him here by being a little bit suspicious herself. So Caitlyn, Shally, was our third trader that Speaker 2 (12:12) we found. Caitlin, who we only find out is a traitor after we find out that she's not going to be murdered. A little bit of the secret traitor for the first little bit. I mean, there was a little in the beginning of the episode of how like I'm a doctor and I really want to be a traitor. Like usually I'm, you know, saving people's lives in the middle of the night. And today, this time I might be ending them. So I thought that was a really fun storyline. And so I was surprised to see only two traitors at first and also to have Caitlin specifically. not be a traitor of the newbies so i was uh kind of waiting for that to happen uh only to find out that she is in fact a traitor now with caitlin i feel like I have some options as traders that I already knew about. And then I kind of have this mystery third door in Caitlin. We don't really know all that much about her. And as much as I have some faith in Spicy V, I also know that she can be spicy. So I was kind of looking at Caitlin of like, maybe this mystery third door has some potential. Didn't know there was a bomb behind it. Yeah. Speaker 3 (13:17) Bit of a tough situation because. Caitlin, and we'll talk about the mission in proper form in a second here, but Caitlin basically becomes victim to oversharing, speaking a little too much at the breakfast and sharing a little too much before roundtable that made some people feel suspect, especially when they're like, well, you nearly got murdered, so why are you all chipper? I think oversharing, speaking equates to being happy, and they're like, why are you happy? You nearly died, so why are you doing all that? Speaker 2 (13:49) Yeah, I mean, I think if I was potentially thinking I was going to get murdered and then found out that I was in fact not going to be, I would be quite chipper as well. Like I would be happy to not be murdered. But I think it's the consistent chattiness that comes out and the volunteering of information before asked. I think that too many people have been tripped up on kind of the. well they didn't walk us through what happened to the people who actually uh were on the short list so uh that is so scary that caitlin wanted to make sure there was no question that she actually knew what happened in that case but again like no one was asking it felt like very rehearsed it felt like she literally memorized the instructions that the production may have given her uh and what would have happened in that scenario so yeah little uh too much too soon Speaker 3 (14:44) Too much too soon. Let's talk about our other trader who very quickly, just too much reaction. I don't know what it was, but for some reason, when Taya stands there and says, I'm a faithful, ain't nobody buying it, Scally. No one's buying this. Speaker 2 (15:03) No, no, no, no, no. Every single person is just staring blank at her. I think we get one person who's like, Speaker 3 (15:09) victory. No, no. Okay. My bad. Never mind. Yeah, Speaker 2 (15:14) I think that it was quite unfortunate for her here. It is portrayed as her finding out very late in the order. I think that there is probably some suspicion that like someone finding out like at that point, if you're going to edit it all in order would be a traitor. So maybe it was that maybe it was her reaction. But kind of regardless, I'm excited for her as a personality. Speaker 3 (15:41) Same. I'm actually quite into the turret
