Speaker 1 (0:04) The Speaker 3 (0:05) city moves fast, but your vibe, that's different. Sharper, smoother, more alive. Speaker 2 (0:15) The new Speaker 3 (0:20) Honda City isn't just made to drive, it's made to feel. The new Honda City, all new vibe. Speaker 6 (1:04) That's right. Rob, take it away. Sure, I will. It's the summer of Stein, and we are back here with the Oracle, the man who's watching the show three times a week. It's Eric Stein. Eric, how are you? Speaker 5 (1:20) What Speaker 6 (1:21) a life we leader Speaker 5 (1:22) of. We are back. If people are going to circulate inflammatory clips of mine, I will not dance in the intro. Speaker 6 (1:29) Oh, wow. Okay. All right. A line in the sand. We're live here today. No need to clip anything. We're here and we are streaming live here in the Summer of Science final form, the opening act for the live feed update. Speaker 5 (1:48) I am excited to be here. Normally, we have about 500 edits to make after we're done, so we'll just have to see if I can behave myself during the show, keep it under control. Now, normally, Rob, you like to ask me if anything has happened to me, and I normally say no, but I did have a story from this week. Yeah. I was going to say, hey, if you don't like when we don't talk about Big Brother, fast forward the next 37 minutes, but we're live. So instead, you can just come along for the ride with me. So I went to the beach on Saturday. The parking lot was full. So I had to go into a spillover parking lot about 15 minutes down the road. Paid for that parking. I had dropped off my wife, my kids, all of our belongings at the first place, drove down myself. As the day was ending, I had to come back to the first parking lot. We had too much stuff to carry back 15 minutes. So I come to the second parking lot. I pull in. I have not been there all day. Just got there. I see what looks like a little bit of a prickly parking attendant. He's giving out tickets to people who have not paid for their parking. But the thing is, I did pay for the other parking and I'm about to pay for this parking. I had simply just arrived. I suspected that this gentleman was hankering, desirous of giving people tickets. So I said to him, hello, sir, I just pulled in. I'm going to go over to the kiosk right now and pay for my parking. So I did just that. It took about four total minutes for me to walk to the parking kiosk, pay and bring back the receipt for my windshield. And during that time, the man who I had forewarned about the situation had decided. to ticket me for parking in the lot in spite of the fact that, A, I had not been there, B, I warned him and he said, that's totally fine, and C, I paid for the lot. So I now have a parking receipt that shows that I have actually paid for this parking lot before he ticketed me. I said... What the? And then there was an expletive. Are you doing? I said, we literally just talked about this three minutes ago. I made a mistake. Okay. So how are you going to fix the mistake? I can't. You'll have to go to court in this town that we're in that you do not live in to pay this. I said, I'm not paying this ticket. I just paid twice for two different parking lots. It's not happening. I said, let me talk to someone else. Someone else comes out. They are acting like my concern is insane, that I shouldn't be upset that I'm just given a large parking ticket. Well, it actually really wasn't that large, but it was the principle of the matter, right? So they said, just write a letter, send the evidence. It'll be dismissed. No problem. I get home. The ticket, it says you can either plead guilty and pay or you have to go to court. There is no you can write a letter and send your evidence in. I told my wife, I am not paying this ticket. I said, I don't care if I need to take off of work, arrange child care, pay three times the amount in parking that day, get lunch out. I don't care if it costs me in total 27 times more money than it would to pay the parking lot. I will be there with a new suit on and I will fight this ticket. Yes. It's the last thing that I do because I am not paying for parking that I did already pay for twice. When are Speaker 6 (5:17) you going to court? Speaker 5 (5:19) Well, I actually sent the documents in. Okay. You know, it would just ruin the story. I called them. I sorted it out. They're presenting it to the judge without me going in there. But it was... The Speaker 6 (5:31) wheels of justice are turning. Speaker 5 (5:33) You don't... You... You know, I afterwards I declined wings and pizza. I said, I can't even eat this right now. I'm too I'm too irate about what. Well, Speaker 6 (5:48) you know what? Look, what a segue to talk about a parking lot show to talk about your struggles in the parking lot of life. Speaker 5 (5:59) Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. It's tough. It's tough out there in these BB streets and these parking lots. Speaker 6 (6:06) You Speaker 5 (6:06) know, Speaker 6 (6:06) they talk about it. Oh, it's my parking lot show. But I feel like that I think the old house used to be on a parking lot. But I feel like that the current Big Brother house where you live, it is not a parking lot. Speaker 5 (6:19) No, they have parking on the lot. Yeah. And it is a studio lot, but it is not a parking lot. But Speaker 6 (6:25) the Speaker 5 (6:25) old house was built Speaker 6 (6:26) on the parking lot, right? Speaker 5 (6:28) Yeah, I think the issue here with the current house is more that it's made of like cardboard. It's less where it's placed and more the fact that if you leaned on it the wrong way, the whole thing would collapse. But otherwise, the location- Structurally sound, though. Speaker 1 (6:44) I Speaker 2 (6:44) wouldn't say that. Speaker 5 (6:45) Yeah. When I went back in last year, I was actually like, that was the one thing I was really taken by is that it looked nice inside of the house, but it looked like you were in like a diorama where it wasn't like really quite a real house. Like it was like you were on. Well, exactly what it is, a set. But it looks like, you know, it's like built with Legos or something. It did not feel like a house that you live in. It felt like a decorated, well, exactly what it is. Yeah, ant farm. Sure. Speaker 6 (7:19) All right, so we're here. We're streaming live with the great Eric Stein. We're going to do something here today. We're going to take your questions also later on in this show. Sam Moore is standing by. He will star. all of the questions that you have for Eric Stein that we can ask on the program. And so we will take those later on here live. So make sure to get your questions in for Eric Stein as we are here on a busy Thursday as we are heading into another eviction. And Eric, it was one week ago today that we said for the final time, it's Speaker 4 (7:56) Chuck time. Speaker 6 (7:57) Chuck. has left the building. Eric, how are you handling this? I'm not thrilled. Speaker 5 (8:05) Right as they had just found his character, as he was breaking free in the diary room, his voice had raised several octaves with excitement. And I think that he was just starting to cook in there. And his time was cut short. I mean, there are so many seasons that the Chuck. goes um way too far into the game and uh you know mercy to us that that we got him out when we did it was looking just a week earlier like chuck was end game material uh ready to uh bore us to sleep for the next seven weeks i mean chuck is probably a very very nice man. And I think that that is something that happens very frequently in the Big Brother community. Being good at a reality social strategy game and being cool in real life have almost no correlation to each other. That said, evaluating him solely what we saw in the game and on the screen, I think that Chuck may be, and this is probably recency bias, one of the biggest nothings as far as a game player that we have ever had on the show. Yes, he was theoretically in an alliance, but to what end? How did that help him? What personality was he bringing? He really did not register on my radar as a dynamic. contributor to the cast i would love to have seen the casting interviews that lit up the room and got him on that is such a good Speaker 6 (9:48) question yeah i think as far as a player in the game he was like nothing but i feel like that nothing is not necessarily he was not horrible he was not really bad at the game he was like really just uh he was a number he was loyal He seemed like he could win a competition, even though he really only won safety in the first week. So as a player, just totally, I feel like Jess, replacement level, fine. But as a personality, it is a struggle to imagine. What did he say in the interviews that they said, yes, this is the guy? Speaker 5 (10:26) I think based on context clues, he just said that like occasionally. once or twice he's gone out line dancing. Yeah. And then they were like, wow, we could make him into a cowboy. That's great. And then they were like, we don't have our cowboy yet this season. And I think that's pretty much the extent of, of, of where it went. I cannot imagine like he was like cooking up big game moves that he had up his sleeve. I don't think he seems like he wanted a showmance. I mean, the mere mention of the fact that he could be a couple with Haley broke him out into a cold sweat. So I don't think that that. is what he was putting down. I mean, he kind of reminds me, the first person who comes to mind in terms of impact on the game and gameplay and placement in the game of the great Matt Clines, the serial connoisseur of Big Brother 19. He was in a large... contributed absolutely nothing, seemingly had no personality, Speaker 4 (11:22) just Speaker 5 (11:22) a Speaker 4 (11:22) regular Speaker 5 (11:23) good-looking guy eating his cereal. And this was just a regular good-looking guy two-stepping his way through the house like he did once or twice. At least he had Speaker 6 (11:31) Raven. He got into a fight with the other guy in that season. Yes. Mark? Mark, yes. Mark, Speaker 5 (11:41) I think, may have been on steroids because he was like, he was throwing hot sauce on people or, you know, he was having a lot of Yeah. Speaker 6 (11:48) I don't remember if it was his BB comic or not that he was the Incredible Sulk. I don't know if that was the, like a nickname in the BB streets or that was his BB comic. But irregardless, here's Chuck going back to his intro video. Like they had, they had, remember they had the day where it's like, okay, now we're going to show you a sneak. preview of everybody that's going to be in the house get it on YouTube and watch it live. I remember thinking this guy seems pretty stiff. Maybe he's just this he's not a natural when it comes to talking to the camera but that Speaker 5 (12:22) was Chuck. Speaker 6 (12:25) Yeah Speaker 5 (12:26) I mean you were not wrong. Yes and Michael Horn confirms Speaker 6 (12:30) that was the incredible sulk was his comic. Speaker 5 (12:34) Yeah. Now, nobody be going in and send that to Mark Jansen, okay? That's his last name? Yeah, I don't know. I just said the first thing that came to mind. Speaker 6 (12:46) Maybe send it to Mark Jansen. Speaker 5 (12:50) He's like, you're right, Eric. I was on steroids. Not wrong. Speaker 1 (13:02) The Speaker 3 (13:03) city moves fast, but your vibe, that's different. Sharper, smoother, more alive. Speaker 2 (13:14) The new Speaker 3 (13:18) Honda City isn't just made to drive, it's made to feel. The new Honda City, all new vibe. Speaker 6 (13:27) No more Chuck time. Oh, actually, Eric, you said you checked out my interview with Chuck from Friday. Speaker 5 (13:36) Yeah, he seemed to be really coming to life. I liked his theory that the reason that he did not do well in the blockbuster is just so strong. And he was just, you know, really having a hard time handling the balls. Speaker 6 (13:50) He's used to balls that are heavier, Eric. These balls were too light. Speaker 5 (13:55) It did seem to be bringing his story full circle from some of the other issues he was having last week. And but I just like he's just I like how he was hysterically laughing. Like, but there was no there was no joke. Like, there was no questions. Like, why did you're like, why did you get killed in the blockbuster? And he's like. Speaker 5 (14:18) It's because I sucked at it really badly. Yeah, Speaker 6 (14:23) he's a good audience. Like, they need to get, like, really, that while they have Chuck under contract, get him out to all of the CBS sitcoms. Get him in the live studio audience. He's Speaker 5 (14:36) an Speaker 6 (14:36) easy laugh, Chuck. Speaker 5 (14:37) Oh, he would. Ghosts, he would be losing it. And is it possible that we actually just... accidentally unearthed what his role there was. It was maybe that it would, they didn't have the most dynamic cast members this season and they thought Chuck would brighten up the rest of the cast. He'd be laughing at the things that they said, you know, we would be comparing. Good way, man. Yeah, Kamu's not like that dynamic, but compared to Chuck, oh my goodness, he is a sensation, you know? Speaker 6 (15:06) Yeah, okay. All right, so no more Chuck time. Last night we saw that Rick, Devins used the diamond power of Vito and dramatically upended Yash's Vito ceremony when he took D off of the block and replaced D with Kamu. Eric, what was your reaction to the diamond power of Vito? Speaker 5 (15:33) I had a lot of reactions. First of all, it looks... like it is worse than a children's craft project. That was reaction number one. I don't know what the prop department was doing here. God's sakes, he couldn't get a- But Speaker 6 (15:47) it's never looked good. Isn't that part of the charm? It looks more of a cubic zirconium power of veto. Yeah, Speaker 5 (15:55) possibly Elmer glue. It really looks horrendous. That was step number one. Step number two, the speech was not good. That was not, I did not like the dream sequence. Jeff probes. I do not understand where we were even going with that. Speaker 5 (16:16) Was that to like try and pretend like they weren't close? He just he just like the survivor gods, you know, just told him he had to save one of his brethren or something because it was not funny. It did not land for me at all. Now, the game move that he did, which I know has been up for debate and a point of discussion all week, 100 percent the correct move to make. You cannot hold on to this until. the game has completely gotten away from you. You cannot let the other side get their numbers entrenched. You cannot keep one of their leaders or one of their best competitors in the house and also lose one of your own. You need the numbers. It's a unifying factor. Even if the mosh pit stays together for one vote and that vote takes out one of his biggest competitors and it keeps one of his own in there, you have to act before. Not after it's too late. And for people saying, oh, well, he loses his spot with, you know, Kamu and Yash. Like, he didn't really have that spot. They weren't acting in his best interest this week already. Otherwise, D wouldn't have been the target. And also, I don't think that they would have owed him anything. He would lose to them in the competition. And one of them, theoretically, might not even be there. And the other one can't even compete next week. So that's an easy cleanup right there. If Kamu goes tonight. send yash out next week or send you know they they don't need that structure to exist he doesn't need to ingratiate himself to a structure that doesn't exist so this was completely the correct move um i always find it funny on big brother if someone we like gets one of these bogus powers and then they do it on someone we don't like, then it's like the greatest thing that's ever happened in the show. Could you imagine if Camus is the person who had the diamond veto and he actually did this in reverse and the victim of it was Melody or Mallory or Devin or Dee? How appalled? the fans would be. So I love the hypocrisy. That's one of my favorite things, you know, in the Big Brother community is like, yeah, this was amazing. Except like we just last season, I participated in a skit denouncing the horrible twist that I've screwed people's games. And in all fairness to the Big Brother player, Kamu, not anything beyond that. He is getting screwed here if he goes home tonight. So let's be clear about that. Speaker 6 (18:42) Well, even go back to the coup d'etat where it was somebody who was a popular figure at the time, Jeff, using it against Jesse, who was, I guess, kind of, even though I don't remember exactly how BB-11 Jesse was portrayed to the audience, but it was like, okay, oh, this is such a great move. But if it was the other way around, probably not celebrated. Oh, Speaker 5 (19:10) yeah. And, you know, and then you kind of wonder now if you look back retrospectively about where Jeff's popularity came from. But then when you actually think about it, it's pretty in line with several other more recent popular house guests. Like it's very much like Cameron. It's very much like a Frank, a Keanu. It's it's it's America's type. Right. That's like I always kind of wondered, what was it about Jeff everyone loves so much? I'm not sure I got the appeal at the time, but it's, you know, he's one of Grodner's guys, if you will. Speaker 6 (19:45) GG. OK. Yeah. All right. So, Rick, yes. Speaker 5 (19:50) I'm so sorry to interrupt. I've gotten overexcited here in the moment, but I did have a final point about the the diamond power of Vito. So I was I was trying to think back to. when Matt Hoffman used the diamond power of veto. And, you know, he got a lot of crap for it. I don't think he necessarily could have anticipated the need for another move, but he did go home Speaker 4 (20:12) right Speaker 5 (20:13) afterwards. So my first question for you is, do you think this will have a blowback on Devins? But then my second point is related, but really totally unrelated. So when I was looking this up, I researched Big Brother 12. And I learned that Lane's name was in fact David, which I have never heard Lane referenced as before. And then I remembered on Big Brother 4, there was in fact... a man by the name of David Lane, who nobody has ever seen since. And people said he went off. Or Speaker 6 (20:44) I guess one of two houseguests to have intercourse that was shown, correct? Speaker 5 (20:51) Yeah. Yeah, I don't know if there can be a first or second in that situation, but maybe. But so I started thinking. So apparently his girlfriend who was on the show with him said that he has gone off the grid. This is what I've learned in my research. Lane or David? David Lane, not to be confused with Lane, who is also David. And I started wondering, is it possible that David Lane returned to Big Brother 12 as David Lane Ellenberg? And that was, in fact, him. And he had just grown a beard and gotten gigantically large since Big Brother 4, and that they are actually the same person. Speaker 6 (21:29) I'd have to see the side-by-side comparison, but I do feel like that the size difference does, unless that maybe the meow-meow industries maybe had some sort of a prototype for the animal, right? Speaker 5 (21:43) Well, what if he had been working out with Mark Jansen for the eight years in between the two seasons? I Speaker 6 (21:49) guess anything is possible. Speaker 5 (21:50) Yeah, I just I could not believe this really has nothing to do with the Diamond Power veto. But I could not believe that Lane's name was David. He looks like such a lane. He had all of those things riding his tractor around. David's don't do that. Lane's do that. It's crazy. Speaker 6 (22:04) Yeah. Just to go back to what you said about Devin's speech. I think it's interesting. I think that it was a speech that was the like. trying to inoculate himself against any sort of blowback of like, oh, well, I just, I had to do this because the Survivor fans gave this to me. So they like Survivor. So I need to save a Survivor who's on it where it was neither, hey. This guy right here, Kamu, he's the biggest threat. We need to all band together and get him out of the house this week. And it wasn't, hey, this is my number one. My allies don't go home when I'm around. So I think that he doesn't gain that much out of using the Diamond Power of Edo. I think he went from sort of like preventing loss as opposed to going for maximum gain with this move. Speaker 5 (22:54) I do think if Kamu goes home, it certainly puts him in a less endangered spot in the house. But the thing that's so fun about the blockbuster is that this move does not confirm his elimination. And in fact, you know, Waffle Wednesday had us saying that it was not even confirmed within his own newly, you know, anointed alliance. So that. Speaker 5 (23:19) definitely makes the move a lot weaker. But if Kamu does go home or even Haley goes home instead of Angela or Dee, that is a huge net positive for him, you know, even just in what is ultimately a numbers game. Speaker 6 (23:33)
