Speaker 1 (0:14) Hey, what's up, everybody? And welcome back again to Big Brother Unlocked Unlocked here on RHAP. It's me, your host, Chappelle. And with me this week to talk about all the things that they talked about on Big Brother Unlocked for the first time in a very long time. It's Jacob Jones. Jacob Jones, welcome. I, you know, I feel like I'm home with you. I feel like I can relax, take my shoes off, wear my socks around the house. Speaker 1 (0:42) You're going to have the drink poured over to the left and I'm going to be here. And I want to tell you, Chappelle, this was my first episode of watching Unlocked. Hey, so happy first episode to Jacob Jones, y'all. Everybody give a shout out to Jacob for his first episode. And for this first episode, Jacob, we should really celebrate by getting into some of the stuff that they've been talking about on this episode. So since this was your first one, tell me, what did you think about Big Brother Unlocked? I thought that Jerry O'Connell, I haven't seen Jerry O'Connell since Kangaroo Jack. Jerry O'Connell kind of fine. Jacob, I was kind of. We are not here for you to lust over Jerry O'Connell. I was like, this Jerry O'Connell from. Speaker 1 (1:33) I haven't seen him from Kangaroo Jack. So you feeling it? Yeah, he feeling it. And Taylor, Taylor looked amazing. Always. Flawless. Always. I like the sports jacket from Derek as well. But I actually thought it was more of a key than I went into it thinking. I thought this was going to be a kooky, crazy show. Kooky, campy. Kooky, campy. What's another C word? Comedy. Comedy. I thought it really would, but it was kind of like more my speed of humor than I was expecting. And I really liked it a lot. Okay. Yeah. Well, I'm glad you're enjoying it because we have been doing this since week one of this show, but you know, we only do unlocked every other episode. So we're not exactly celebrating the same amount of unlocked episodes as they are. But I guess if you count the season prior and this season, I guess we're up to 10 unlocked unlocks as well. Speaker 1 (2:28) So I'm glad to be here. Yeah, no, I'm glad you could be here to celebrate this with me, Jacob, because, you know, we've been podcasting together for a very long time, but I don't get to talk to you often. And so I was able to go back and I wanted to really bring back some of our old memories from when you and I first started podcasting. And so Sam has a clip ready from way back in the year of our Lord, 2021. when Jacob Jones and I, I believe our first podcast appearance ever. So Sam, if you could go ahead and cue that up for us. Jacob had sat in his laps. Okay. He was all in a damn conversation. I said, Jacob, get out of their mouth. Get out of their mouth. Speaker 1 (3:10) We didn't even get through the dough good. And he bowed. I seen the boy knees buckling. I said, what's wrong with you? He said, it's Elena. I said, Elena, who? Who the hell is Elena? I did not do that for Elena. I did not do that. He did. He did. He did. I know Brittany in the YouTube chat probably said, yes, he did. Yeah. So Jacob Jones, do you remember when we went to the celebrity net fights boxing way back when, and we got to come back and talk about it on, I think it was the slop. I feel like we were the first big brother on lot. Yeah. Originally. Yeah. On location. On location in the field. So big brother on lock y'all need to. Speaker 1 (3:50) pay credit where credit is due. We saw the Big Brother contestants and we saw them in real life and in person. And so not behind those screens, not on these screens, but we saw them live and in person. And I felt that was the moment that I felt bonded to you. Oh, yeah. And yeah, that was good. That was a good moment. Yeah, we've been tied together ever since then, Jacob. But that brings me to where I want to start this conversation. So there's been a lot of talk this season about. Barrett and Drew and working with the icons and what you should do and what you shouldn't do. And in these this episode, we really saw how it looks like the fandom is kind of like, hey, we should be targeting icons. Now, I was with you at that Big Brother boxing event and I saw your knees buckle for Elena from Big Brother 19. Speaker 1 (4:38) embarrassing me. I saw you acting a fool over the most random contestants. And so for my question for you, Jacob Jones, is if you were in the Big Brother house, would you work with the icons? No, because I don't even prefer the icons as reality icons. And it's hard for me to even say icons, to be honest. And I hate to be a person. CBS Big Brother casting, y'all doing an amazing job. But I just personally, I don't know if I would refer to Angela Murray as a Big Brother icon. I don't know if I would. Oh, no, not just a Big Brother icon, a reality TV icon. Speaker 1 (5:13) And so, no, I would not be fangirling over Dee. I would not be fangirling over Devins. I would not be fangirling over Angela. The people that I would be fangirling is Davon. The people that I would be fangirling is Daniel Reyes. The people that I would be fangirling is Dr. Will. Oh, if I'm ever in a space, a place with Dr. Will, I'm falling off the bone. So I would be like Barrett and Drew, but not anywhere else. Well, that's my question, Jacob. So you go into the Big Brother house. It's day one. You're excited to play. You walk in and you see Davon, Tiffany Mitchell and Danielle Reyes right there. And they say, Jacob, we're running this thing to the end. What are you going to do? Yes, ma'am. And tell me what way to turn, how to speak, who to speak to, what to do, what to win, what don't to win, what not to say, how to act, how to walk, how to piss, how to do everything. Speaker 1 (6:07) Honestly, I really wish I could judge you, but we saw Serena in the house a couple of seasons ago. And I'm going to go ahead and tell you, I would have been no cake. Hey, whatever you want, mama, that is all you. And so I think it's a lot easier said than done to target these icons, especially if you're a big fan of the show. And we saw a lot of our past Big Brother icons as they were celebrating the thousandth. episode. We saw intern Andy get to go to the thousandth episode. What did you think? Because I wasn't with you in Wisconsin. What did you think about the thousandth episode celebration? I loved it. I wish that more recognition was given to the Quack Pack as Alliance. Speaker 1 (6:48) They're one of my favorite alliances on my favorite season. So I wish that I love seeing Dan get his flowers. Best to never win. We all know who that should have went to. But I digress. Give, you know, give Janelle her flowers that they already gave to her about 100 times and definitely well-deserved as well. But I loved it, though. I well, I like seeing the Big Brother community come together in a. kooky, cool sort of way. And it's very nostalgic. We saw people back from Big Brother 2 that was in the audience when people identified them on Twitter and things like that. I thought the montages were super cute. I love the click out moment. I think they did well for the 1000th episode. And I love the Julie flashback. I love seeing her different hairdos. And it was cute, especially being a Big Brother fan. Like I've been for a... Speaker 1 (7:36) Many years. And I started like my first season watching was season 12. And so to see even beyond and then I went beyond that, you know, I started watching Corky Dude on YouTube. So I was kind of fangirling. Definitely. Yeah. So we saw intern Andy, a.k.a. Cody Calafiore's accent coach, you know, going in and really getting to interview some of these big brother contestants about what they thought about Unlocked. I don't really care about what they were saying about Unlocked specifically. But Jacob, was there anybody who stood out? intern Andy got to go talk to because I think I yelled when I saw Taylor talking to the genius because why where did they find Jen I know I was kind of gagged for that but you want to know what I was really gagged at Jose not knowing the name of the show yeah for real look behind you Speaker 1 (8:24) Big Brother Unlocked. Like that was like, that was the key for me. I like seeing different Big Brother players from different seasons. I wish they would have had a camera on Vince. Cause I like, he's been kind of MIA in the streets a little bit of time. So it would have been nice to hear from him, but I loved it, Chappelle. I really did. Yeah. We saw some big names. Leah was there too. Caitlin Herman, Quinn, Joseph, Blue Kim. We saw Riley. Of course you mentioned Jose and Cliff Hogg as well. So, you know, Yeah. Some people who, you know, we we watch so closely on the live feeds and watching the shows and the recaps and all that kind of stuff. So you really do feel connected with some of these people, even though I know they are insane. And so it is it's fun to see them. But at the same time, I like my big brother characters in the TV screen. You know what I'm saying? Speaker 1 (9:11) Same, Chappelle. And I think that's the thing about Big Brother. I feel like it's hard to really continue following them outside of the show. I only like how they acted on the show. I don't really care about their lives outside of it. Like on Instagram, I'm not following many Big Brother players. And I mean, it's really a shame because it's kind of like the Love Island effect, how you follow these people and you watch them for up to three months at a time. And they kind of just evaporate after that, like a thought. Speaker 1 (9:37) And, but, you know, this was nice bringing them all back. And I wish that Dr. Will was there. I really wish that Dr. Will was there. I really do. Right. Yeah. I don't know where Dr. Will is, but I mean, I feel like this show doesn't really work without him having some type of, you know, type of pedestal. You're going to have to just like give him his flowers for really helping make this show, you know, what it is today. But. To your point, we did see Dan Giesling, not exactly on Unlocked, but kind of on Unlocked. I would say so. You know, I have a signed copy of Dan's book. He wrote a book many years ago. It was called something to the effect of Clean My Own Mirror. Speaker 1 (10:18) I know, Taryn. You said that. And then last time I heard you talk about this and I just do you think Taryn stole Dan Giesling's book title? Wait, OK, but the thing is, I need to see if that is actually Dan Giesling's book because I mean, my own I may be getting it totally misconstrued. And I'm about to find out in two point five. Oh. Clean my own mirror. Oh, yeah. So clean your own mirror. Six necessary duties to lead and influence people. So I'm right. So Dan had a book. And when I said that people were like, Terrence, but I was like, no, I have a signed copy of his book. I don't have it anymore, but I won it on the contest. Dan was my favorite winner from Big Brother. And I was excited to see him. I think he looks so amazing. I loved him in season 13. I loved him even more in season 10. I think Dan will always be a Big Brother staple just because of the game that he. Speaker 1 (11:07) played so flawlessly and so boldly and so in a different way than we've ever seen happen before so if we couldn't get Dr. Will I'm very happy that we got Dr. Will's prodigy Dan Giesling Yeah, I thought Dan was going to be a guest when they mentioned Dan at the very beginning of the episode. They said, oh, we're going to have Dan Giesling. So I was very excited to see what he had to say. But Dan's still keeping it low key. We got the it sounds like the first meeting ever between Derek and Dan. And there was a little bit of hinting what happens if they were to come back into the house. Do you think, Jacob, there's any world where we see these two compete against each other in Big Brother? Speaker 1 (11:44) I do, because obviously they're still showing up for Big Brother events. So I think like I think I think if if the money is right for Dan to leave his family and leave his family permanently, but for three months, I think he would take it. Derek is a commentator, a personality, a part of the Big Brother stratosphere. So I definitely see that. And I hope they do. but heads to the end. I don't want to see Dan and Derek being friends at all. I don't even want to see a hello, good morning, good night, bye. I don't want to see no pleasantries between them. I want to see straight, I want to see straight like guns drawn. We're ready for war. And so forget the friendliness, forget the, forget the relationship. I want to see war when I see them play. So Dan seemed like he was already geared to do that. Speaker 1 (12:28) It does sound like it, right? Like we've seen Dan play and say, oh, I don't want to play, but then play. But I don't know, Jacob, three months is a long time for grown ass people to be going and doing Big Brother. Like that's what I think that's part of the reason why we only get like so many older people every season is because a lot of people just ain't got time to be taking three months away from my real life, my family, my, you know, my job. And if they're going to both be coming back, you have to imagine maybe it's all winners. So maybe we get like a shorter. Speaker 1 (12:56) almost like celebrity Big Brother season to where, you know, two and a half weeks, knock it out, see who comes out on top. I would like a month shortest time span in the house. I would like a month. But also, I completely agree with you, Chappelle. Even when I think about going on Big Brother, I'm like, dang, I really enjoy my life right now and I enjoy my people. So taking three months outside of my normal cadence will be very harsh for me. Speaker 1 (13:20) But for $750,000, put me in that house, lock the doors and throw me in with whoever. I'm leaving with that check in my wallet. I can see that. Jacob, you're really good at these types of games. I don't know if the people are familiar with your work, but I am. And so I would love to see it. But I can't be stressed out watching you in the Big Brother house. I do have one more question, though, about this Dan segment. So if you're watching an all winter season, just take all winters in consideration, old and new. Speaker 1 (13:48) What do you think comes out the winner of that season? Who do I think comes out the winner of a Big Brother All-Winners season? I think a guy like Steve Moses comes out on top. Okay. I think a person like, I mean, Jordan Lloyd can potentially come out on top. So some of the under-the-radar kind of people? I think so. A person like Maggie. Because all the big personalities that were winners, I feel like at some point, Speaker 1 (14:19) their egos are going to get involved and they're going to want to pick, oh, this person is a bigger star than I am. And I think that's going to really let the people that are underrated come out on top. People saying Nicole F., I'm not really seeing it. I think they would hate to let her get any more days in that big brother house than she already has. And she's one of the big dogs. And so I think that's characters like Steve, characters like even Maggie, I see in the chat, characters like Jordan, I think can do kind of well in this sort of environment. Speaker 1 (14:49) OK, I love talking to you about Big Brother because I know you've done your research. You are a Big Brother super fan. And in this episode of Unlocked, we spent a little time with Jay Moore, recent Big Brother super fan. He said he started watching Jag season, a.k.a. Cerise season. And since then, he's been hooked. Now, Jacob, do you think enough time has passed in this Big Brother fandom for him to really be considered a super fan? No. And especially if he watched Jag season and then is now just, you know, or three season, as we like to call it, and is now just a fan. I don't believe so, because this isn't even pinnacle big brother. I think we are going we're headed in the right direction because season 28 is putting it on the floor. Speaker 1 (15:29) Season 28 of Big Brother is putting it on the floor. So I think we're headed in the right direction. Let him have five more seasons. Let him get five more. I'll even say three more seasons. And then we can call Jay Moore a super fan. But nah, not now, Shadi. You can't get that title. I put in years of this. I put in stress of this. I put in tweeting on the Twitter street for this. So Jay Moore, just relax. You'll get that title when it's best bestowed upon you. But someone has to bestow that title on you. You can't just, oh, I'm a super fan. Speaker 1 (15:57) No, you can't bestow that title on yourself. I have to bestow it on you or someone else, but preferably me. Yeah, I think you got to you got to get in the trenches, right? Like there's one thing to say. I watch the show. Cool. I watch the show and listen to podcasts. Fine. But until you in the trenches reading the updates, you know, and watching the clips and stuff like that's when you know you're in too deep. OK, when you're waiting all year to be disappointed by a show every single year. Speaker 1 (16:23) that's when you know you're a real super fan. I need to know what you think of Julie Chan's Bob. I need to know what you think of, I need to know what you think of season 14 Ian versus Dan if you think Ian was the real winner. I need to know what you think of Big Brother All-Stars, the first iteration. I need to know, do you think that they cast Brother All-Stars, the second iteration, well? I need to know all these different
