Speaker 1 (0:08) All right. He did it. It's time to talk about this final four eviction. And we've got so much to talk about. I'm so excited to be back here to talk with everybody on the recap here tonight. And a lot to unpack on two hours of Big Brother. And we are back here, of course, with Taryn Armstrong. Taryn, how are you? Ding. Speaker 1 (0:34) I'm still here. Speaker 2 (0:36) You're Speaker 1 (0:37) still Speaker 2 (0:37) here. Yes. And so is Rick Devins. So is Rick Devins. Yes. Now, Julie said that nobody at production knew what was going to happen. And I think she lied to us, but nobody knew what was going to happen last night, which is pretty wild. Speaker 1 (0:54) Yes. Yes. In fairness, when they put that on the prompter, nobody knew what was going to happen. But that, listen, I was on pins and needles the whole night of, oh, you know, I had heard the rumors, but you never know what Drew is going to do, that he's a little weasel. He could change his mind at any point, but he does ultimately vote to. Keep Devins, Navik D, so much to unpack. A fellow survivor is here to talk about it. Asia. Asia, how are you? Speaker 3 (1:23) Hello. I'm excited to be here. I only have one thing to say. Shout out to all of my dogs at the crib. Speaker 1 (1:32) How many? Oh, my God. Speaker 2 (1:35) Multiple dogs. Including a flying dog. A Speaker 3 (1:39) flying dog. Extra ready. Yes. Speaker 1 (1:43) It Speaker 3 (1:44) took a team today just for the intro. Speaker 1 (1:47) Okay. Well, we are so excited to pair, repair the hosts of our Love is Blind coverage because here tonight also it's Frail Mary, Mary Kwiatkowski. Mary, how are you? Speaker 4 (2:00) I'm here. I'm, look, I might be the only one. Because I was at work all day. And so I was shocked by the outcome. Not going to lie. I was shocked up through the tears at the eviction. I'm still shocked. I really thought it was going to be like a, you know, D, I have to vote Devin's out or something. Like I thought, like mid-sentence, I was still shocked. Speaker 1 (2:24) Yep. Speaker 4 (2:25) I'll take it. You know what? I'm enjoying this season as a casual. Speaker 1 (2:30) Yeah. And Taryn, finally, one of the survivors has unsurvived tonight. It finally happened. No Speaker 2 (2:37) matter what, one of the two survivors has to unsurvive. Speaker 1 (2:42) Yeah. I can't really, I can't believe it. We'll talk through everything from this two hour episode, but I guess I don't know what the headline is that Devin stayed or that D is done. Speaker 3 (2:54) I think the bigger headline is that Devon stayed because I think we can all agree that was not the decision that we thought was going to happen. Like if we are just thinking unbiased, Speaker 2 (3:06) like Speaker 3 (3:06) whoever, whatever decision puts Drew in the best position, we would think that would be Devon's would go. Speaker 1 (3:15) We'll see. I mean, I thought about this as we were watching this live eviction. And I remember a week ago tonight when we stood and we watched Drew walk into the diary room and he's like, ah, what do I do? And he had to decide between evicting Yash and evicting D. And then ultimately he chose to evict Yash in that spot. And I think that the knee jerk reaction was horrible move, Drew. You just blew it. I have a feeling that's probably the knee jerk reaction tonight. Drew, you just blew the game. But what if one week from tonight he wins the final three HOH and evicts Rick Devins? Yeah, and Speaker 2 (3:56) I think he will. And I mean, this is the thing. I don't think I don't think people should have said you blew it when he evicted Josh. I think that was the right call. And I think that knee jerk knee was Speaker 1 (4:05) a Speaker 2 (4:05) knee Speaker 1 (4:05) jerk reaction. Fair enough. I also don't think I agree. I Speaker 2 (4:10) don't think this should be a you just blew it message, right? Like, I do think that the better move was probably to evict Devins here because Devins is just going to be harder to beat in the final three HOH. Devins had collected, Devins had won more competitions than D and Taylor combined to this point. He's also the best studied person in that house. So like, you know, if you want to guarantee yourself the win, which you do by winning the final three HOH, taking out your best, your biggest competition seems like the right play. But at the end of the day. as long as he wins the final three HOH and cuts Devins, he still, he still wins. Like, it's not like, Oh, he's definitely gone now. He just can't, he can't win the game now. So he's still, he's still like, he just needs to win is really the thing. Speaker 3 (5:01) But we can, I mean, we Speaker 2 (5:04) can Speaker 3 (5:04) think of it at that, like from that angle, but you also Speaker 4 (5:07) have to think about the jury. Speaker 3 (5:09) Like. This is the one thing that Melody wanted him to do. So the moment she hears you had the opportunity to get rid of D or Devin's and you chose D, like she's not going to respect that move. And then by the time the third person is the third place person is walking on stage. A lot of people have decided how they're going to. Speaker 1 (5:30) Yeah, but if he does evict Rick Devin's that that what could she say? He's like, yeah, I didn't do it when you Speaker 2 (5:37) wanted me to, but I did do it. I think the decision at round table will be if he cuts Devon's, I'll give him my vote. But if he takes Devon's, I'm voting for Devon's. Speaker 4 (5:50) I also don't know. Speaker 2 (5:51) What Speaker 4 (5:51) do Speaker 2 (5:51) you think, Speaker 4 (5:51) Mary? I don't know if it's recency bias of the last couple of competitions, but I know like before this week, I was certainly thinking that Devin's had some of the best shot at the final three HOH. But like Drew and Taylor have both won the last several competitions. So I think that that's not nothing. Although from previous challenges, I'm not exactly sure how well I think Taylor would do in like anything super physical endurance-y. But I don't know. We'll see. It's I think it will be hard. Speaker 4 (6:27) for someone to beat Devin's if he's in the final two. Like if Devin's in the final two, I think that's like almost impossible. But I think that there's definitely the scenario where Drew cuts Devin's here, especially if he, you know, obviously he'd have to win the final three and then can speak well toward it. I think the problem is his like, emotional friendship with Dee and Devin's. I just think a lot of people on jury are going to see that as like. It wasn't a big giant move in the way that Melody or Barrett were when they put them up, when they put Dee and Devon on the block. Speaker 1 (7:10) Yeah, he still has one big thing left to do if he's going to win this game. But I think that he insured himself at least second place and has completely avoided the possibility that he will finish in third place. And so I think he bought himself some insurance of at least a second place finish. I think that he is still is very likely to evict Rick Devins. If he gets, if he gets, if he brings Rick Devins to the final two, then yeah, he deserves to lose, but he still might evict Rick. And he has worked himself out of a scenario where D and Taylor take each other to the final two. And he ends up in third place. There's no possibility that he ends up in third because Taylor would take him to the final two also. Right. And Speaker 4 (7:55) that's the biggest thing. Speaker 3 (7:56) But, but, but. I don't think it's 1000 % that Devin's takes Drew. I think that we have a whole week before the finale. And even though Devin's is in a position where he beats both of them, if I'm Devin's, I'm thinking, okay, do I want to kind of? Speaker 2 (8:15) No, he specifically didn't. Speaker 3 (8:18) He swore on rescue dogs. Oh, that's right. Speaker 1 (8:21) Rick Devins cares a lot about rescue dogs. He adopted a dog and named it Sia. Did he swear something on his family? Speaker 4 (8:31) Why did I think that he had... Did Dee swear on her family? Somebody, I feel like, was Speaker 3 (8:35) doing something. Did Dee swear on her dogs? Yeah, and her family. And Speaker 2 (8:39) unborn children. Right now, Devins is... Drew's relying on Devins' pity basically of like, I beat both of you. So I'm willing to give you the 75 K. But yeah, like if Devin's was trying to optimize, he knows the kind of art, he knows what argument Taylor's going to make in the final two. And it's not a great one. Speaker 3 (9:00) And I'm thinking, like, do I go for the kind of win where, oh, I know Drew will get votes or do I go for the for sure win? And if I'm Devins and I've had this this run, this reality TV run, I want to go for the for sure win. And I think the fact that there's so much time for him to think about that and ponder on that, I think it's it's it's. For me, it looks like it's 50-50. I don't think it's so sure that Drew is second place. Speaker 4 (9:29) If Speaker 2 (9:29) Devin Speaker 4 (9:30) cuts Drew, do you think he still votes for Devin at the end? Like immediately after turnaround? It won't matter. Speaker 2 (9:38) I don't Speaker 4 (9:38) necessarily think it will, but I'm just curious. I do think the D-Taylor taking each other potential threat was probably what swayed it here. Yeah. But also... Speaker 4 (9:52) Like, I don't know if this was a online reality game or like a weekend reality game. I think I would probably say, you know, go big or go home, like try to try to optimize to get to the end. But in the real situation, I don't I don't begrudge Drew from wanting to, like, guarantee himself second place, at least. He's played this far. Get it second. Speaker 1 (10:20) come this far. Taryn, I'd love to know from you just how much credit do we give Rick Devins tonight in terms of the campaign that he put on, the charm offensive, to use Christian Hubicki's terms, that he put on Drew to get Drew to make this decision? I think Speaker 2 (10:37) it's maximum credit, right? This was Drew himself described the choice multiple times as essentially illogical that the logical choice was to take D and the emotional choice was to take Devon's. Um, now he had a couple of points, uh, that were like, yeah, you know, I'm, I'm at least guaranteed second place, but I probably lose. And he also seems to be under the, uh, false, uh, uh, pretense, uh, that part three of the final three HOH is still the old version. where you get asked questions about like, what was Lala's favorite moment? Was it when she won the tongue competition or the wall competition? The wall. And he's like, oh, well, Taylor's obviously going to beat me on that because she knows the jury better than I do. But obviously we know that's not the case. So like he was concerned about that. So we wanted to like ice her out of part three. So like those were like his two kind of like more logical. but he still described it as the illogical choice. And anytime that you are able to get somebody to make what they themselves describe as an illogical choice, I think you like truth and logic was not on his side. He still made it happen. So kudos for sure. Speaker 1 (12:00) I think that when we talk about Rick Devins and his reality TV career, this might be his crowning achievement. This might be better than making the fake idol. This is better than flipping the Mr. Beast coin, because this is the thing that we had given D all of her flowers over these last two weeks where she was up on the block and she convinced people to do the wrong thing for that. And now listen, it still could work out for Drew, but. He convinced him with his power of persuasion and the hold that he had that he really was working on marinating Drew for 80 some odd days of this game all for this moment tonight. Speaker 3 (12:46) Yeah, I think like Devin's has to get that credit. And it's wild to just to think about where we're talking about Devin's, who is like he has like he I think he has to win this game if he's in the final two. Right. Against. a winner of survivor. Like Speaker 4 (13:09) the fact that we're saying like, oh, like Drew, if he had taken D, he would have had a chance, which is like, Speaker 3 (13:14) if D makes it to the end, she also really would have had a strong chance, you know, because, you know, but I do think that this is the, the stamina it takes to make it to day 70, whatever, and be like, I, okay, I'm going to be persistent with Drew and I'm going to make sure. Like to do this week after week, like Devin's has worked his butt off. So I think it's like for us, it makes sense that whoever wins the final HOH, if it's not Devin's would not take Devin's. But that's why I think that Drew has kind of put himself in a position of a must win position. But I think that's the only way that Drew wins is if he does win that final HOH plus cuts Devin's. Speaker 1 (14:00) And he's been in a must win position for weeks now also. And he has won and he may continue to win. Speaker 4 (14:08) Do you know what would be really cute also? Speaker 1 (14:10) Go ahead. Speaker 4 (14:11) If Devins wins Big Brother, then both him and Dee have like opposite placements on the shows. Isn't that cute? Speaker 2 (14:20) Because she Speaker 4 (14:21) will have four twins. Speaker 2 (14:25) This, I think an interesting component of this is that this was the first time that Devins was vulnerable. Speaker 2 (14:37) since jury, since, since before the medieval twist. Yeah. This has been the first time. And that was when D was HOH. And then Yash was HOH before that, which was the first time that like the only time before now that, and he could be like, even could have taken a shot at him. And of course that was when he had the diamond power of veto. So like he's either one safety or been protected by the bribe. or been given safety during a twist, or, you know, in week seven, D was HOH, or he had the diamond power of Udo. Like, he has not really been in a vulnerable position until now. Like, this was the vent on the Death Star, right? Like, this was the shot to take. You might have one more, but it was definitely a rare one. Speaker 3 (15:27) I thought that I thought that Drew had already cried all the tears, like not only missing Melody, but also thinking of cutting Devin's. I thought he had already grieved this decision. Like I thought the decision was more than made. But the fact that like I know we're giving Devin's his props, but the fact that that decision was like he was able to change that decision for Drew. Like there's no world where the jury is seeing not seeing it as. And Devin's, it was kind of like, you know, very persuasive and maybe not even like Devin's had power over Drew's game. Speaker 1 (16:06) Yeah. I mean, no doubt that Daddy Devin's, that's the story for Drew, that there just still is that possibility that Drew just kicked the can down the road for one more week. And maybe that, and again, I have no evidence that this is how he's thinking, but I would have to imagine that he was this close to evicting Devin's here and that he's thinking that I could just, if I win this HOH. his last HOH. And again, he doesn't really know how it works, but again, better to be good, lucky than good. I feel like that he has a, he, he beat Rick Devins in a comp that was based on the days and the information in the house to win the veto at the final four. I don't think it's crazy to think he could win that final three HOH. So I, I just, I see the path for drew. For this still ending up to work out for him. That's not what I'm necessarily hoping for. But I see that he could do Speaker 2 (17:09) it. And like the perception is that he is baby boy Drew who does what Daddy Devin says. Which like. I don't think has been the full reality of Drew's game. I mean, baby Drew stemmed primarily from him flipping on Yash during Yash's HOH when he voted out Kamu, which was very much a thing that was in Drew's favor in the game. Like he didn't do that for the vets. He did that for his own game in the same way that he voted out Yash for his own game. So I don't think the narrative is like strictly fair. But it is the narrative, right? And it's one that he will need to counter, I think, if he wants to win the game or at least might need to counter if he wants to win the game. Like if I'm on the jury and I know that Drew wanted to cut Devins, even if you didn't have the chance to, I mean, I honestly, I would still at the very least consider voting Drew even over Devins. Like Devins got a bunch of, he got a diamond power veto. He got protected by a bribe. He had to win. multiple competitions in order to survive, just like Drew. Like, there's not that much that differentiates the two's games, aside from all of the advantages that Devin's got. He was obviously in more control. But, like, I think Drew has played similarly in terms of keeping himself safe and alive in the game. The problem is this narrative that exists. And that's where Devin's has sort of, like, outshone him more dramatically. Devin's has... a much more commanding narrative. And Drew seems more like a weasel to the jury. So he still does need to win that final HOH. The thing is, if Taylor wins it and cuts Devin's, he doesn't have that narrative. He's still baby boy Drew, Speaker 1 (19:03) but Speaker 2 (19:04) he's got allies on the jury and he should have four votes in the three icons plus melody at the very least. So. it's again, it's like, it's not the worst place to be here though. Taylor winning might not be the most likely thing in the world considering parts one and part two, but like, you know, you never know. Speaker 1 (19:24) Yeah. And hold off necessarily on the three icons and melody working together. We have to see the Angela versus melody fight coming from the jury house. It could be overdrew. We don't know. Speaker 4 (19:37) Yeah. And this is my favorite part of big brother, but also the thing that's most like fascinating from a. psychology standpoint is just the perception that people have of each other. Like, I don't know, six or seven weeks ago, I feel like I said something along the lines of like, this is Drew's, this is Drew's perception to the rest of the house guests that he's a weasel that they can't tell when he's lying versus being serious. And they don't exactly know where his loyalty is and yada, yada. And I was thinking like, What is it that someone like Drew can do to change his perception? Because we, sure, you can make it all the way to the end, do a couple of big moves and then say, I knew it all along. This is actually me. Here's my big grand speech. And that might work. That can, we saw, that was kind of what Paris did in Big Brother Canada. So like it can happen, but like. If you're if people are too locked into like in the scenario where Drew gets to the end with Taylor, if people are too locked into the fact
