Speaker 2 (0:13) Welcome back. Retail therapy. My name's Will Barrett Dudley. How are we? We're great. Speaker 4 (0:20) Just recording earlier in the week than usual this week. And I'm pretty gassed, Will. I will. I have to. I do have to admit that. This past weekend, starting on Thursday. Went to front of the pod, Alex Rychak of Checkmark Eats. Went to her 15th anniversary of her business celebration. Had a couple cocktails. Mm-hmm. That's what it does. Great martini, by the way, at Bonnie's. which is the new kind of like bar section, new spot attached to Lenoir. Okay. If you're down in Austin, cool spot, great martini. Spelled B-O-N-I apostrophe Speaker 2 (1:09) S. Speaker 4 (1:09) Apostrophe S. Speaker 2 (1:10) Not like. Speaker 4 (1:11) Yeah. And I'm just, I'm going out on a limb here and saying that that's Bonnie's because I don't think that they would name it Boney's. Speaker 2 (1:17) Come on down to Boney's. But I guess I could be wrong. Speaker 4 (1:23) Friday, we had our event in the morning. We had a dinner on Friday evening. Saturday, we went to the University of Texas versus Ohio State football game. We Speaker 2 (1:40) did. Speaker 4 (1:41) It was just a lot for me. I have not had a weekend like that where there was just something every day or every night back to back to back like that. And by yesterday, I was just completely gassed. It was probably a bad day to skip caffeine. Speaker 2 (1:57) Why would you do that? Speaker 4 (2:00) I was out of coffee at home, and I was like, I'm just going to see if I can get through. Maybe I just need a reset on everything. Speaker 2 (2:11) It was Speaker 4 (2:12) a mistake, Will. I acknowledge that. Speaker 2 (2:13) Every single time I think that I can skip the caffeine for the day, I regret it late in the day. And I'm like, why did I do that? Speaker 4 (2:20) So if you're watching on video, you may be able to see that I've had some dermatologies done to my face. I did not get pecked by a bird. Oh. I just got some variety of milia and sebaceous something or other just zapped off. I Speaker 2 (2:35) thought you were doing some type of like... oh aesthetic thing oh like Speaker 4 (2:39) a like a like a wellness thing yeah like where i was like like cupping but like pricks on your face or something i Speaker 2 (2:44) mean as we know cupping is a flex yeah before you go on vacation Speaker 4 (2:47) absolutely um Speaker 4 (2:51) Yes. And like, I was like, I was borderline falling asleep on my drive out to my dermatologist. Like it was not, it was not good. Well, Speaker 3 (2:58) Barrett, I got good news for you. You just came when wash media had the biggest re-up of caffeine ever. We got a coffee, Speaker 4 (3:05) we got Celsius and we got blue. Wow. Wow. Hey, shouts to Brad out there in the bullpen. I saw him a couple of times this weekend. He was never without a Celsius. Crazy work. Crazy work. So he is not, he's not giving Speaker 3 (3:19) up Speaker 4 (3:20) the Speaker 3 (3:20) caffeine. No, we got him off Red Bull, but just had to sell some. And as of Speaker 4 (3:24) today, I'm back on the caffeine. I'll attempt it another time when I'm less tired, I guess. Our Speaker 2 (3:33) espresso machine has really thrown a wrench in my entire caffeine plan in life. Speaker 4 (3:38) Were you trying to scale down? Were you trying to scale up? I just had a very Speaker 2 (3:41) consistent amount of caffeine. It was just the same type of coffee poured out of the same cold container every single day. There was no deviation from it. And now I'm all over the map. Some days I'll have just single shot. Some days I'll have as many as four, like a real bad boy. Speaker 4 (4:00) What's the latest you can go on caffeine or coffee? Oh, Speaker 2 (4:04) I don't test it anymore. I don't even try. Okay, so what's your cutoff? Noon. Yeah, you Speaker 4 (4:13) guys sound like a bunch of addicts. Speaker 2 (4:15) Noon. Speaker 2 (4:17) I Speaker 4 (4:18) mean, Randy famously and no cap. You don't, you just don't partake, right? Speaker 3 (4:21) The only time I have caffeine is if I'm really, really dragging and then I'll have half a Celsius. There's a current half a Celsius in the back of our fridge right now. Cause yesterday I was a little tired. So they ain't get good sleep, but otherwise I'll have like half a Celsius maybe once every two weeks. Speaker 2 (4:37) Okay. I think I'm mostly a routine guy now. Yeah. Yeah. Sally has started making me a cafe Cubanos. Speaker 1 (4:45) you essentially enlighten me Speaker 2 (4:46) you essentially make the espresso with some brown sugar okay too gives it a nice sweeter taste and Speaker 1 (4:52) i Speaker 2 (4:53) fear it's dangerous for me as we know you know too much sugar is never a good thing that's right i already Speaker 4 (4:58) i already eat enough sugar i know that's right Speaker 2 (5:01) I'm not really ashamed of the sugar. The only reason I feel some shame is because other people are so down on it. I love sugar. I love it, dude. Speaker 3 (5:09) I Speaker 2 (5:09) love it. Speaker 3 (5:09) Is this at Speaker 2 (5:10) Cafe Salé? Speaker 3 (5:11) She's still Speaker 2 (5:11) making all the... She's still making a lot. I'm having trouble getting the pressure high enough on the espresso machine to make actual espresso. Speaker 1 (5:19) I Speaker 2 (5:19) don't really know what I'm doing wrong. Speaker 1 (5:21) I Speaker 2 (5:21) took a photo the other day because I had one that hit the pressure zone and just stayed there. And I was like, yeah. Speaker 2 (5:28) It tasted fine. Speaker 4 (5:29) I definitely don't know what I'm doing. I do not know my way around an espresso machine. I Speaker 2 (5:34) kind of do now, I guess. I also have a theory that ours is not like a full-on situation. Could be. Well, I don't think I can walk behind a Starbucks counter and just whip it up. Speaker 4 (5:43) Yeah, okay, right, right, right. Yeah. Speaker 2 (5:44) I don't think they have the same... I think we have simplified buttons and mechanisms. Speaker 4 (5:48) And for anybody wondering that maybe hasn't heard, you've talked about your espresso machine, but it is not... We should just let you know now. It's not the... amelion door llama rose co nah eleven thousand dollar joints in case you were thinking it was yeah Speaker 2 (6:02) yeah i went i want the breville route revel yeah that's what real ball knowers get you Speaker 4 (6:07) uh you were you were on your just pouring cold brew grind for a little while yeah i'm on that grind now it's Speaker 2 (6:14) a great one what you what what was your cold brew choice i would drink them all um i'd go with the classic heb h e b brand okay um There's a lot of stoke going through the household. All right. Speaker 4 (6:27) So you weren't even Speaker 2 (6:27) messing Speaker 4 (6:28) with the concentrate. It was just like the... No, Speaker 2 (6:30) if anything, I didn't like doing the concentrate. Okay. I think the concentrate has a different taste to it than when you just get the jugs. And I'm Speaker 4 (6:37) a Speaker 2 (6:37) jugs guy. You're a jugs guy. People know that. Speaker 4 (6:39) Everybody knows that about you. Yeah. Speaker 2 (6:40) Yeah. All right. So you got to get the jugs. I'm going chameleon cold brew concentrate right now. I don't feel like it ever truly mixes with the other water I put in there. Like, I don't think it ever totally gets homogenous in there, you know? I like that Speaker 4 (6:55) you can control the taste. I find the ones that are already pre-mixed to be a little too light, a little too... I get it. I get that. Speaker 2 (7:01) A little Speaker 4 (7:01) too Speaker 2 (7:01) watered down. I get that. Yeah. I'm tossing so much milk in there, it doesn't really matter, though. Speaker 4 (7:07) You know what I need? You know what? What going on, getting on that cold brew grind has really, really highlighted for me is the need for, like, a cool ice machine. Yeah. Because like the big chunks, the big blocks of ice coming out of my freezer, they're fine. But like they don't give you that same feeling of like the ice that you're getting when you get a coffee somewhere. Speaker 2 (7:29) Yeah. Do Speaker 4 (7:30) you know what I mean? This Speaker 2 (7:30) is all such routine stuff in my eyes. Like we're so used to a certain type of ice. I'm probably like I probably prefer Starbucks ice. Speaker 4 (7:40) Uh-huh. Because. Speaker 4 (7:43) That's just what you get at the restaurant right Speaker 2 (7:45) versus like the ice at my house. Yeah Speaker 4 (7:46) Like Speaker 2 (7:47) I don't want the little sonic ice for any coffee stuff Yeah, Speaker 4 (7:51) I agree. Speaker 2 (7:51) That's that's gonna dilute it too fast. Right, right, right But like I I'm at the point with my coffee routine in that I think it's just a routine I don't think I get any noticeable boost other than well try going off of it and see how you do I wonder I Speaker 4 (8:07) sometimes wonder that if I just went cold turkey Because that's sort of what I was experimenting with yesterday. Well, Speaker 2 (8:12) do you ever wonder if you just go cold turkey? Like if it's just like you feel like you're missing part of your day. So that's making you that's bringing you down. Yeah, Speaker 4 (8:18) I mean, I do. I do. I don't like that part. I don't like that part of it. I don't like missing the the you know, it's a little treat culture. I need my little treat in Speaker 3 (8:25) the Speaker 4 (8:25) morning. Speaker 3 (8:25) Yeah. Well, we actually were looking this up on the mail and the other day that Whirlpool 36 inch French door refrigerator boasts is the first ever industry nugget ice maker in the fridge. Wow. So yeah, for like $4,000, you can get a new fridge that just has it. Speaker 2 (8:42) How Speaker 3 (8:43) about that? I Speaker 2 (8:44) don't want the nuggets. Yeah. I think the nuggets are absolutely elite for some things. But for the things that- Speaker 1 (8:51) Cherry Speaker 2 (8:51) limeade. Like, yeah. Arnold Palmer's limeades, lemonades, sodas, ice water, that kind of thing. But when it comes to coffee, cocktails- Speaker 1 (9:01) Yeah, yeah. Speaker 2 (9:02) I want nothing to do with that kind of ice. Speaker 1 (9:05) Yeah. Speaker 2 (9:07) And I think those are more important to me than lemonades and Arnie Peas. Speaker 1 (9:10) Yeah. Speaker 2 (9:11) Okay. Speaker 1 (9:12) That's fair. Speaker 2 (9:14) We got a lot to talk about today. Should we just get right into it? Speaker 4 (9:18) Let's jump right in. Speaker 2 (9:20) Before we get into it, obviously, obviously, got to hear from our friends at Aura Frames. You're probably thinking, wait, the Aura Frames that reminds you of the moments so you can tell the stories? Yeah, I'm talking about that one. The other day, I had a little extra time. My son was napping. My other son was watching a movie. I was laying on the couch, and I thought to myself, you know what? I need to add some photos from my phone to my parents' Oriframe. I hadn't done it in a while. Last time I was back, I saw that my mom had a lot of photos of my niece on there and not as many photos of my sons on there. So I went in, and I started just absolutely loading it up with photos. And then I realized, wait. I can do one single transfer to numerous auras right now. You can check the box for multiple aura frames. I hit it for my parents. Speaker 1 (10:15) I Speaker 2 (10:15) hit it for my aunt. And I hit it for me. And guess what? A lot of happy customers. That's actually, I did not know that. I need to do that. It's a game changer. I had no clue you could even do that. There's a lot of things that you can do on there. I love posting my film photos on it. It just feels good. Feels good to see it on a screen. Speaker 2 (10:36) see those moments that I haven't looked at on my phone a million times. Just love doing it. Every time I see it, it's just a little trip down memory lane, you know? I love Warframe. You know who else loves it? My parents. And my aunt, evidently. Everybody loves it. It's a great gift. It's Calm Tech certified. I bet you guys don't even know what Calm Tech certified means. Tell me. Speaker 4 (10:57) Yeah, elaborate. Speaker 2 (10:58) They enhance daily life without overwhelming it, surfacing meaningful memories in a way that feels ambient yet additive. I think we need more things in our life that are CalmTac certified. Yeah. Speaker 4 (11:11) Yeah. I mean, yeah, CalmTac, get on it. Certify some things for us, huh? Speaker 2 (11:16) I need to make something that's CalmTac certified before I think about it. That Speaker 4 (11:19) would be very on brand for Speaker 2 (11:20) us. Free unlimited storage. You can preload the photos even before it ships to the person you're gifting it to. And you can share photos and videos effortlessly. A lot of people don't realize you can do the video part of it. They have a top rated app. It reached number one in the app store on Christmas Day in 2025. Speaker 2 (11:38) Named number one by Wirecutter, you now can save by visiting AuraFrames.com. We do. Speaker 1 (12:04) Last Speaker 2 (12:04) Friday. We'd already talked about it on our last two episodes, but last Friday was the official big event. Retail Therapy along with Sunday Scaries and Nike all got together. We got numerous artists from Austin, Texas. James Madison Mitchell, Will Bryant, Fort Lonesome. Even Passport Vintage showed up to do a little distressing on our stuff. And we all convened at the Hearthen House off West 6th Street. And I have to say, Barrett, I think the event went absolutely swimmingly. Speaker 4 (12:37) Yes, I think it... It just it was it was bad. It was bigger and better than I think we could have imagined. And really, really in large part, thanks to everybody that you just named and also the team from Nike and Will Bryant, who also, you know, like like got us into to hearth and house where his his studio is is it was the perfect space. And yeah, I mean, it would it just it all came together really, really nicely. And. Speaker 4 (13:09) The crowd was great. Nike had such a cool team of media and athletes there. And I Speaker 2 (13:15) mean, yeah, people got into it. They got really into it. I mean, we were busy enough at the event talking and helping people and guiding people that we didn't exactly have time to do our own stuff there. You did a little of your own, right? Speaker 4 (13:28) Yeah, I actually did. I ended up putting one together for myself towards the end. Yeah. So Speaker 2 (13:32) the whole reason we did this is because they have their studio fleece and solo fleece collections. And like, They kind of made this for customization, which Speaker 4 (13:39) I think is a great idea. If we're in the wide shot, you can see an example hanging up. Speaker 2 (13:43) Oh, yeah. I have mine, too. Here. Speaker 2 (13:47) And Speaker 4 (13:47) we've posted a bunch of photos on the Grom as Speaker 2 (13:50) well. Speaker 4 (13:50) Yeah, your boy's been Speaker 2 (13:51) posting a lot. I had this done at the beginning, like the run-through. Speaker 4 (13:57) The run-through, yeah. Speaker 2 (13:58) And then the only thing I actually did at the actual event was the distressing of it, which I was getting into that. Speaker 4 (14:04) So everybody Speaker 2 (14:04) was Speaker 4 (14:05) getting into the distressing. Speaker 2 (14:06) The distressing's fun, dude. Speaker 4 (14:07) It was, so yeah, Fort Lonesome and Passport Vintage had set us up with handheld Dremel tools. and a rhinestone applicator, both of which are very like very, very like beginner friendly, I would say. Yeah. You know what I mean? And so I think people were kind of people started out, you know, kind of like placing their patches where they wanted them kind of choosing the embroidery from Fort Lonesome that they wanted kind of everybody had their own kind of spin on on how to arrange how to where to place. And then like kind of as the event went on, people got a little bit more like a little. a little more, a little bolder, a little bit. Oh, let me, let me, let me grab one of those Dremels. Let me, let me mess with that, that rhinestone applicator. I can't, there were so many, I'm going to forget names here, but one of our guests, I mean, he sat there for like a straight hour, like going hard on the rhinestones and it looked sick. And nothing made me happier. Speaker 2 (15:04) I was like, cause in my head, okay, in my head. There are some events that could get set up like this where it's like a pure influencer event. People are just, all they care about is going around, taking cool photos, being in cool photos, whatever. Seeing people like grabbing sweatshirts and sitting down for a majority of the event to customize them made me feel really good about what we did because one, it was like a cool product that people wanted. Two, the event served its purpose. And three, like everybody. that came to the event got to leave with something one of one that they got to spend time on and get like perfectly finished by fort lonesome uh Speaker 4 (15:40) becca from fort lonesome was sharing like some of the things that you know they were they were after the event they were going through kind of finishing everybody's off she was sharing some of the the like you know just some of the coolest craziest stuff that people had done like people were rhinestoning the nike swoosh uh one one one of our guys kenji i think it was had like done one of the embroideries and basically mirrored it I was a little bummed when I saw that one because I was like, damn, why didn't I do that? I know, it was so sick. And so like, I think the, that's what was cool. Nike basically put the studio and the solo fleece out. with great cuts and great attention to detail just on its own, but like very much with this idea that you, that these are blank canvases that you can do whatever you want with. And like, it was awesome that, that, that people came in and just took to the creativity like that. They were finding their, their finding ways to make it their own. We, we always talk about like, like random
