Speaker 1 (0:00) I hosted a retreat a few years ago for nine of my Ready for Love VIP clients, one absolutely gorgeous house, an entire weekend together. And on the very first night, I did something at the dinner that was so electrifying, I will never forget it, and I know the women won't either. I made every single woman at that table do something most of them had never done their entire adult lives. And by the end of the night, I witnessed these incredible women bonded together as if they'd known each other for years, and they were genuinely, fully lit up for each other. I'm going to tell you exactly what happened at that table, because this is about a kind of friendship most of us were never taught. And I promise you, by the end of this, you're going to know one powerful way to be the best, most supportive friend that you can be in a way that most of us don't think of. Hi, it's Hillary. Welcome to the Ready for Love podcast. Speaker 1 (0:58) Before we get started, if you haven't already, please make sure to follow the podcast on your podcast app and subscribe to the YouTube channel. It really helps push us out on the algorithm so more people can find us. And if you are liking the show, please share it with your friends because if you like it, they will probably like it too. So nine extraordinary women, my VIP clients, spending the whole weekend together in a stunning house. I had everything planned out and I knew exactly what I was going to do. And the very first night I was planning this juicy, exciting little... kind of experience for us. Taking everybody to dinner. And I did it on the first night because I really wanted it to set the intention for the entire weekend. So yes, we're at this fabulous dinner. Everybody looks gorgeous. And I had this plan that made me feel giddy like a child. The kind of feeling that you get when you're about to give an amazing gift to somebody that you know they're going to love. That's the feeling. As their mentor, I get to know things about these women that most people in their lives don't get to know. That's what the mentor-mentee relationship is. It's honest. It's open. I know the real story and I know who they really are. Not just the surface level stuff and not just the highlight reel, not the accomplishments at the end, but the obstacles that it took getting there. And I wanted the women to know these things about each other. For example, one of them had just retired as the CFO of a massive company, like one of the biggest, longest running companies in America, in an industry that is still to this day dominated by men. She spent decades in rooms where she was often the only woman at the table, and she didn't just survive it, she ran the finances of the entire operation. Another woman had just been named the number one salesperson in the entire country for the big company that she was working for. Out of thousands of people, she was number one. And another had built a luxury real estate brokerage in Atlanta completely from scratch with her own two hands, no family money behind her, no shortcut, just her vision and total dedication. That's just an idea of what I'm getting at. So once we got settled into the restaurant and everybody's looking so gorgeous and fine and we had our drinks and a celebratory toast to kick off the evening, I made them go around the table. one woman at a time and brag on herself. I made them tell everyone the real truth about who she is. No holding back, no minimizing, no shrinking, no deflecting, just the whole thing about how badass she actually is. in real life. And anytime one of them hesitated or paused or tried to shrink it, I stopped her and I said, no, say the whole thing. I was egging her on to spill it all. And I got to add to it too, because I knew all of the details about them. I got to brag on them. And as the women were sharing and as the women were... divulging these deep secrets that they have about themselves. There were tears and there were cheers, and it was just
