Today is Friday, September 18th, and no one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills opened their new stadium, dropped 40 points. Their offense looked incredible. DJ Moore gets hurt, and it's still... Josh Allen is, and I know that we're a Josh Allen podcast. People sometimes get upset about how much we glaze him. I don't think we glaze him enough because he's playing quarterback on easy mode. It looks like that for him. Like the flick of the wrist, the runs, everything. It just all, Speaker 3 (3:39) it looks like the game has slowed down for him. I know the Lions defense is not very good. They had 86 snaps on Sunday. They had a short rest. I get it. Speaker 1 (3:50) He's in just total control of the game. I think there's obviously a lot of really good quarterbacks in the league right now. Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes. I think the Buffalo Bills are the only fan base that I actually get jealous of. When I watch Josh Allen play. He's just so good. I'm like, I would love to be able to root for this guy every week. How much joy do you get from watching him, even as a guy that's not a Bills fan? It's like, it's incredible to watch him play. He does it all. He's exciting. He's got the rocket arm. The wrist is still, like, very much alive. Yeah. He'll flick the wrist. The ball goes 30 yards. And then just the way that he runs and puts it all on the line, like. I'm jealous of Bill's fans that they get to root for this guy. Speaker 3 (4:28) I actually think maybe the best play that wasn't even a touchdown or Josh Allen running for a touchdown or throwing for a touchdown, Aiden Hutchinson is a big fucking guy, a strong guy. Josh Allen had him on his back and was able to get the ball out. That's Speaker 6 (4:43) the Speaker 3 (4:43) thing. He's just so big Speaker 6 (4:45) and strong. And, yeah, we're glazing right now. But the Bill's offense, I don't know about their defense. The Bills' offense, and obviously they had Ed Oliver go out before the game, but their offense with Joe Brady, the chunk plays are there. They're taking shots constantly. DJ Moore injury is going to be a problem because Speaker 3 (5:05) I do think that he was, if you watched last week, he adds that element to the offense that had been missing with that deep threat. But they're 2-0. They Speaker 6 (5:15) get a little extra rest here. And the stadium, like it was perfect that Josh Allen opened the stadium with the first touchdown. They said the stat I said on Monday, Al Michaels did. Josh Allen now has 10 games where he's ran for two touchdowns and thrown for Speaker 3 (5:30) at least two touchdowns. And the only other person close is Steve Young with four. Four of those. So that just puts into perspective how good Josh Allen has Speaker 6 (5:40) been. As for the Lions. Speaker 3 (5:43) Their defense is, again, I do grade it on a curve. 86 snaps to three days rest to playing on the road is an impossible task. They Speaker 1 (5:54) spent all day Sunday chasing Shuck around, chasing his Speaker 3 (5:56) balls around. But they had no chance in this game. They looked very overmatched. And I think if you're the Alliance fan, the offense, again, Speaker 6 (6:07) was kind of slow to get started. and they have all the firepower. I know they also had injuries on the offensive line. I don't understand. I Speaker 1 (6:15) think they had Speaker 6 (6:15) three out of five offensive linemen that were Speaker 1 (6:16) out. So that is a big deal. Speaker 6 (6:18) Yeah, no, no. The Lions, like, this is a game that, you know, you don't want to lose Speaker 3 (6:22) any game, but if you look at it, you're like, okay, with everything stacked against them and the Bills, the way they're playing, opening a new stadium, like the energy, the vibes, everything. I don't know what their offensive coordinator, Petsing, is doing, though, on these second and ten runs. I feel like it happened like three or four times tonight where it was second and ten, and he's like, you know what, let's just run the ball and almost guarantee that we're going to be in a third and long. Speaker 1 (6:46) Because he's thinking to himself, well, we're going to go for it on fourth down, so I can just dick around on second down and third down, and it'll be fine. But there was no urgency from the Lions. It felt like on multiple drives in the second half where they were content to, yeah, you're right, run the ball on second down. and just take a bunch of time off the clock. Speaker 6 (7:04) All right, so they had four second and tens in the second half. The plays went second and ten, Gibbs run Speaker 3 (7:12) for zero yards. Second and ten, Gibbs run for zero yards. Second and ten, Gibbs run for two yards. Second and ten, Goff pass for 34 yards. I don't know. It's just like... These guys are obviously way smarter than us, but I just couldn't keep watching another second and ten run for no yards right up the middle. You Speaker 1 (7:30) think he's smarter than us? He's got a big head. I don't know. Maybe not. Petson's got that. It's like a flesh colored guardian cap on Speaker 3 (7:36) the Speaker 1 (7:36) skull. That thing is a monster dome. Also, we should show some respect to the Bills and their new stadium and their new Buffalo. Yeah. Their new bison that they unveiled. Bruce, the baby bison, who I guess lives in a Zubaz cage. outside the stadium so sick um i we need more live animal mascots in the nfl yeah and i think they brought it in obviously to open up the stadium you know that dan campbell walked past it was like i i asked for a fucking lion three years ago right and they said no and they get to have a buffalo yeah It's bullshit. It's sick. It's awesome. Don't get me wrong. I like it, but also give Dan that line. But Speaker 6 (8:13) yeah, it was another story of like, if you look at like Amon Ra and Gibbs and Goff, like they all had good numbers, but the problem was if you watch the game, it was another slow start. The Bills' first four possessions of the game were Speaker 3 (8:29) touchdowns. The Lions' first four possessions of the game were three punts and a touchdown. It just felt like they were fighting an uphill battle basically from the beginning. Like, it was almost instant that it was a 14-0 game, and you're like, okay, well, what do you do now? I Speaker 1 (8:45) actually thought that the Lions played really well to even come back and make it a 10-point game because it felt like it was an ass-kicking for most of the game. It felt lopsided. Yeah, Speaker 3 (8:53) the score isn't indicative of how, because, like, the last Amon Ra touchdown, you know, it was a 41-24 game. They score with, like, two minutes left. Credit to them for not giving up. But yeah, Speaker 1 (9:03) it Speaker 3 (9:03) was more of an ass kicking than the final score looks. Speaker 1 (9:06) So hopefully they can get Brian Branch and Kirby Joseph back soon. Because the defense will be a lot better in Detroit with those two guys. I Speaker 3 (9:14) saw Lions fans saying they need a disaster draft on defense. If the plane went, they were like, yeah, that's our only way out of getting good defenses. We need the disaster draft. Speaker 1 (9:25) Where you get to steal players from other teams. I don't know. Bruno Brant is legit good. Yeah. He's a very good player. Speaker 6 (9:31) Did you see Aiden Hutchinson ran a mile and a half in gameplay today? That's too long. That's insane. Yeah. Speaker 3 (9:37) That's an insane stat. Hank, through two games, the Bills look really good. Speaker 5 (9:43) Really, really good. Speaker 5 (9:46) The Bills and the Chiefs look really, really good. Speaker 3 (9:49) Do you agree with me? Josh Allen looks like he's playing on easy mode. Speaker 5 (9:53) Yeah. Oh, yeah. Speaker 3 (9:54) It's, yeah. Speaker 5 (9:56) They're due. I mean, they're due. Speaker 1 (9:59) Due for what? Speaker 5 (10:00) To make a Super Bowl. Speaker 1 (10:03) Yeah. I mean, nobody's really due. Speaker 5 (10:06) If anyone's due, the Bills are due. Speaker 1 (10:09) Yeah, the Bills are due. Bills and Speaker 5 (10:11) Ravens. Yeah. Speaker 6 (10:13) I mean, the Lions Speaker 3 (10:14) too. Yeah. Are you saying do historically or just do like in the most recent history of being close? Or both. The Bills with Josh Allen. The Bills would hit both. Yeah, they would check Speaker 1 (10:27) both Speaker 3 (10:28) those Speaker 1 (10:28) boxes. We were having a debate the other day of whether or not football would be better if there were no such thing as kickers at all. And you could make the argument. Where do you stand Speaker 5 (10:36) on that? Speaker 1 (10:37) I understand the case. I do. But then I think that there's no more dramatic part of the game than when a little nerdy guy runs out onto the field to kick a field goal with no time left. You know, you sit there and you watch the ball. Is it going in? Is it not? That's a magical moment as a fan. But you can make the argument that the Buffalo Bills would have like three or four Super Bowls if kickers weren't a thing in football. You can make the argument that the Patriots might not have had the start of that dynasty if it wasn't for kickers. Yeah. Speaker 3 (11:10) Kickers change everything. They change everything. Kickers have an imprint on the National Football League. They do. Speaking of the National Football League, shout out our guy Joe Buck. $108 million contract. Speaker 1 (11:22) Nice work, Joe. Speaker 3 (11:23) Nice. Cashola. He's going to show up with the thickest head of Speaker 6 (11:27) hair. I think we're owed something. Maybe he should write a chapter in our book. Maybe he'll come in next week when he's in town for Monday Night Football. Just, you know, wet the beak. Just wouldn't it? I'll just say this. Wouldn't it be kind of cool if Joe Buck showed up to the office and he was just peeling off hundreds to everyone? Yeah. That would be a really cool move, would it not? Speaker 1 (11:49) Yeah. Speaker 6 (11:50) That Speaker 1 (11:50) would make him a really cool guy. Joe Buck is as good an announcer as anybody in the National Football League. Yeah. Speaker 3 (11:58) $108 million contract, I would definitely just be walking around, just, here you go, here you go. Yeah, making it rain. Money's not a real thing anymore. Joe, we can get it set up. You can make it rain from the second floor of our office. We'll do a little cash grab. It doesn't even have to be big bills. No. It could be. Let's do fives. Yeah. Speaker 6 (12:14) Do Speaker 3 (12:14) a million and five. Yeah. And just throw it around. Speaker 4 (12:19) Some people get hurt. Speaker 6 (12:20) Oh, I'm happy for him, though. He is the best. He's the big game voice. What do you mean, Max? Speaker 4 (12:28) Max is saying Speaker 6 (12:28) he'd hurt some people. Speaker 4 (12:29) If there was the entire office fighting for a million dollars in cash, I think that there would be some punches thrown to get some of that cash. Speaker 1 (12:38) Who do you think would be throwing punches? Max? Memes? I Speaker 4 (12:42) don't understand what is so ridiculous about what I'm saying. There Speaker 6 (12:45) would absolutely be some physical violence. It's Speaker 7 (12:51) 450 pounds of cash. Let's Speaker 8 (12:55) get him out. Speaker 8 (12:57) I'd pull out my hypothetical taser from my desk. Speaker 1 (13:00) Oh, it's hypothetical. Yeah. Huh. Interesting. Jerry would make a hypothetical trip to the trunk of his car. No, Speaker 3 (13:09) it's Speaker 1 (13:09) not the trunk, dude. He keeps that in the fucking in the Speaker 6 (13:12) center console. Yeah. All right. Anything else? We got a whole show. Picks and preview. What do you think about Chris? I don't. I Speaker 3 (13:20) said it. I felt like I was turning into Colin Coward when I was like, that's not coach like. Speaker 6 (13:26) I kind of like it. I feel like it gives him some power. Yeah, no. Like authority. As the words came out of my mouth, I was like, what are you saying right now? Why are you saying this? Like, who cares if he's wearing a necklace? But yeah, he's got the bling on. Joe Brady is. Mike Speaker 1 (13:40) McCarthy's been necklace for a long time. It's true. No, dude, Speaker 6 (13:43) he lost weight. Yeah, he does look good. Speaker 1 (13:45) In the black uniform. Do Speaker 6 (13:46) you Speaker 3 (13:47) think Sean McDermott is watching this offense being like, fuck. All these times Joe Brady told me we need more chunk plays. I said, no, we got to run the ball. We got to matriculate the ball. I Speaker 1 (13:57) think he's looking at me like, this is kind of candy ass. Yeah. It's candy ass. Can't win like this. Scoring too many points. Not sustainable. Speaker 3 (14:03) Yeah. Can't win like this in December and January. Speaker 6 (14:06) All right. Picks and preview. Chris Goddard up. Firefest. Okay. Before we get to picks and preview, football is back and no game day spread is complete without the great taste of Pepsi. Speaker 3 (14:20) Oh, zero sugar. You spend all week thinking about the wings, nachos, or burgers that you're going to dig into a kickoff. But are you pairing it with the right drink? I am. I'm pairing it with a Pepsi. A slice of pizza, a slice of cheese pizza, and a Pepsi is heaven on earth. That's a fact. You know what I had last night? I had tacos, and I ordered a Pepsi with Speaker 6 (14:42) it. I love that. Yep. Pepsi Zero Sugar has a bold, refreshing taste that doesn't just compliment your favorite tailgate foods. It makes the whole experience and every bite hit a bit better. It's like watching your rival miss a chip shot field goal to lose a big game. Watching your defense make a goal line stand to seal a victory. Watching your team hit a, you Speaker 3 (15:03) know, Speaker 6 (15:04) 40-yard-plus touchdown. Watching your team... Beat their rival. Watching your team convert a two-point conversion. Grab Pepsi Zero Sugar to elevate your game day. Tailgating deserves Pepsi. Food deserves Pepsi. Go get a Pepsi today. The weekend picks and preview is brought to Speaker 3 (15:22) you by our friends at Reese's. There's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's. I'm holding right now in my hands the Reese's Oreo, and it is so, so good. It's the greatest combo I think ever made. Oreo, everyone knows. Reese's, everyone knows. They put them together. What's the movie, The Avengers? No. Speaker 6 (15:40) Yeah, Speaker 3 (15:41) The Avengers. Speaker 6 (15:41) It's the one where they all come together. Yeah, The Avengers. The Avengers. The Avengers of candy. Mount Rushmore of candy always goes Reese's 1-1. Reese's is Speaker 3 (15:50) the best out there. They are, what are our power ranks? Seahawks. Seahawks have to be 1, right? Because they just won the Super Bowl and they're 1-0. They're the Seattle Seahawks of candy. Jets. I got the Jets. The Jets are high up there. But Reese's is the Speaker 6 (16:05) best candy out there. Reese's is the official candy partner of Barstool Sports. Go get a Reese's wherever you shop. And thank you to Reese's for being the sponsor for Picks and Preview. Week two, boys. We ready to go? I don't know if week two can hold up to week one. Week one was Speaker 3 (16:22) awesome. Week one was awesome. Most points ever. Yeah. Of course, it was the year that I was like, hey, you know what? I'm going Speaker 1 (16:28) to be Speaker 3 (16:28) smart. I'm going to bid all the unders. Yeah. Speaker 6 (16:30) Defenses are Speaker 1 (16:31) ahead of offense this time of year. Speaker 6 (16:32) Yeah. The week two, it's basically the week where you say to yourself, were my overreactions Speaker 3 (16:40) correct or were they simply overreactions? A team that sucks or you think sucks, do Speaker 6 (16:47) they suck as bad as you think? Or is it something like, oh, you know what? Everyone can have one bad week. Remember Speaker 3 (16:52) the, what was the game a few years ago when the Cardinals beat the Titans by like 100? Remember that Speaker 6 (16:59) week one game? There's always one of those. Oh, the Saints beat the Packers. Remember that game? I believe Speaker 3 (17:04) it was, they beat them by like, I think they played in a different stadium than New Orleans. And they beat them by a shitload. And like, you have those weird games. And then you got to kind of Speaker 6 (17:14) reassess in week two and say, holy shit, is this actually how bad this team is? Or is this actually how good Speaker 1 (17:20) this team is? And then bet off of one data point. There's going to be some frauds. We're going to look back at the end of the season and be like, hey, remember we thought this team was good? And it's going to be a nice little trip down memory lane. And we'll think, oh, yeah, we were so dumb back then. I Speaker 3 (17:31) got a trend that is a yucky trend. It's a hold your nose trend. It's basically the overreaction trend of the week. Teams that failed to cover the spread in week one. and enter week two as underdogs, have gone 26-11-2 against the spread since 2014. 70%. The teams that are active for this are the Lions, the Falcons, the Titans, the Browns, the Dolphins, and Colts. Gross. Speaker 1 (17:57) It's Speaker 3 (17:57) a Speaker 1 (17:57) hold your nose. It's Speaker 3 (17:59) a Speaker 1 (17:59) hungry dog. It's Speaker 3 (18:00) a Speaker 1 (18:00) hold your nose. One Speaker 3 (18:00) of those teams is Speaker 1 (18:00) going to be not as bad as we thought. And one of those teams might win this week. That might actually win straight up this week. I heard it was either Prisco. I think it was Prisco that said this week that between weeks one and two, that's when you see teams make their biggest improvements. Like the teams that are going to end up being good at the end of the year. Yeah. Weeks one to two. Because if you get a good locker room and you shit the bed in week one, ideally you'd have a few captains being like, hey, we got to cut this shit out now. Right. Like the Broncos. It'll shock you. What's going on in the Broncos locker room right now? They're basically going to say to themselves, hey, are we this team or are we actually a good team? Bo Nix is going to be like, listen, I'm not new to this. I'm true to this. I've had some bad starts before. We can pull out of it. Speaker 3 (18:37) Yeah. Okay. Let's get into it. You Speaker 6 (18:39) guys ready? Hank? Yeah. Steelers Patriots main TV for you and Jerry. Love that. I mean, I think it's either that or Bengals Texans, but you and Speaker 3 (18:49) Jerry. Jerry said Speaker 6 (18:50) he Speaker 3 (18:51) wants to shove it down your throat. He wants to butt fuck you. He wants to beat you every single way. So I think it has to be you two on the main couch. on the main TV. Speaker 5 (19:02) Agreed. Speaker 3 (19:03) How are you feeling going into this game? Speaker 5 (19:06) I'm feeling good. I've gotten over, you know, week one feels like a year ago because we played on Wednesday. Speaker 5 (19:13) And I feel like it's going to be a good bounce back for us. We're not going to go against the greatest defense of all time in the last two years. Speaker 3 (19:19) Steelers do have a good defense. Steelers do Speaker 5 (19:21) have a good defense. I think the Patriots have played the Steelers where their three-point favorites are more seven times, and they're 7-0. Speaker 1 (19:28) Okay. Good stat. I Speaker 5 (19:31) saw a lot of graphs. I'm back on my graph talk. Speaker 1 (19:33) What graphs? Speaker 5 (19:35) It was like the—let me pull it up. Speaker 1 (19:38) We're talking graphs with Drake May's face top to the right. Speaker 5 (19:41) How each QB's charted bad throws compares to how many interceptions they actually threw. So, and it just, Drake Mays, he threw, obviously he has the highest interception rate tied with Cooper Rush. But... They were clean throws, bad luck. Speaker 1 (19:57) Okay. That's the Speaker 5 (19:58) graph. Speaker 1 (19:58) Wait, so the three picks that end the fourth quarter, those are bad luck interceptions? Speaker 5 (20:03) Clean throws, bad luck. The last one was not. I don't know about that. Yeah, I think the last one. Yeah, Speaker 1 (20:06) it was Speaker 5 (20:06) definitely not. Yeah, the last one was bad, bad interceptions. So Speaker 1 (20:09) you're saying he's got a lot of bad turnover luck right now, which you can count on to regress. Speaker 5 (20:14) Yes. Speaker 1 (20:15) Okay. You know who actually leads the league in good turnover luck for the last two years and is not even close? Speaker 6 (20:21) Who? Speaker 1 (20:21) Matt Stafford. Oh. Matt Stafford has, I think the last two years, he's been... By, you know, whatever, whoever's in charge of saying like, oh, that's a lucky drop or like that's Speaker 2 (20:30) a Speaker 1 (20:30) bad luck interception. Whoever's in charge of it has put the numbers together. And he's been like twice as lucky. It's like the two most lucky seasons in NFL history, which tells me maybe it's not actually entirely luck that he did it twice in a row. Well, Speaker 3 (20:43) this has all been like heavy discourse this week with PFF under scrutiny for their grading system. Yeah, I Speaker 1 (20:50) mean, I love that time of year when everyone's like. Yeah, it's important to have, like, a boogeyman that operates behind the curtain that you can get mad at for issuing your team a bad grade. Chris Speaker 3 (20:59) Collinsworth actually came out and did, like, a podcast with Jack Collinsworth. I don't know if there's any relation. And he explained the grading system. I still don't really understand. Speaker 1 (21:09) It's like a guy, right? Yeah. At the end of the day, it's a bunch of guys that sit down at the computer. Negative Speaker 6 (21:13) and Speaker 3 (21:13) positive. Speaker 1 (21:14) Yeah. Speaker 3 (21:15) And the big thing with the Caleb grade was that they gave him a triple negative for a play that didn't count. Because there was a flag. I love that. He threw Speaker 1 (21:23) an Speaker 3 (21:23) interception, but there was a flag. The Speaker 1 (21:24) worst play that never counted. Yeah. I love it. Hank, so did you find the graphs? Yeah, I sent the graph. Oh, you sent the graph. Yeah. Speaker 3 (21:31) Okay, let's see the graph. Let's take a look at this graph here. Let me see this graph. Speaker 4 (21:35) How did you send this? He texted Speaker 1 (21:36) us. Speaker 3 (21:38) While you look for it, Max, Mike McCarthy was 87 degrees on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. He was in full. Pants and long sleeves, all black. Again, I think this guy's lost some weight. I think he's probably just shy to show us how much weight he's lost. Speaker 1 (21:51) Yeah. Speaker 6 (21:52) He's just a little gun shy in showing Speaker 3 (21:55) his new bod. Yep. He's not a mincey type to brag about losing 30 pounds in a month. Speaker 1 (22:00) I mean, some guys have a bod. Some guys don't. You see Belichick this week? Speaker 5 (22:04) Yeah. Should we talk about that? What a bod. Speaker 1 (22:06) Cannons. I mean. I thought it was fake. I think this is a classic Belichick move, if you ask me. Speaker 3 (22:13) Our good friend Nick Tirani has a hypothesis on this. He thinks that Belichick's trying to smoke out his yes men. He's like, how big can I get my tits on a day-to-day basis before someone says, hey, coach, nice tits. Speaker 1 (22:32) And it hasn't happened yet? I don't think it's happened. My theory is a little bit different. My theory is that he's grown the Speaker 3 (22:37) tits out. Speaker 1 (22:38) Well, that's the thing with Speaker 5 (22:39) Belichick. He's just such an alpha. He's got so much power. Like, you guys, you know, you're sitting at your desk right now. We interviewed him for Grit Week. Yeah. If he pulled up an interview in that sweatshirt, you would not mention his tits. No, but Speaker 1 (22:51) I would need to sit behind the desk because I'm such a boner. Yeah. Speaker 5 (22:55) But that's what I'm saying. Your point is probably true, but no one is going to be like, hey, coach, nice tits. I Speaker 3 (23:01) think that's what he's doing, though. He's trying to find the first guy to be like, hey, nice tits. And he's like, all right, you get the keys to my kingdom. You're the heir apparent to the Belichick throne. Speaker 1 (23:09) I think it's a couple of things. One, the UNC football program, not the best headlines in the news this week. What better way to distract from those headlines than just showing up with a pair of tits? Honkers. Like just completely owning the narrative. Yeah. Right? Speaker 5 (23:23) I also think it's our hot. He probably saw the Sydney, Sweden. He and is like, oh, this is getting this is what the buzz is about. Let me get in on this. These titties action. Yeah. Speaker 3 (23:30) I mean, I immediately saw him. I said, what are the two things that we universally agree on as a country? We love football. We love tits. Belichick's like, why don't I do it all? I'm a Speaker 1 (23:40) one stop shop for it all. And he did do it all. He did it all. And also, it makes me want to tune into the game on Saturday. Yeah. Like, do you talk about a ratings driver? Coach Bill Belichick is going to be on the side. He's always been a 3D chess guy. Now he's a 3D chess guy. Speaker 6 (23:56) I do think there's a part of him that is maybe new to his breasts a little bit, and he doesn't know the appropriate things to wear on camera. Like, if you see Speaker 3 (24:07) Max and I on camera, we're constantly pulling at our shirt, you know, doing this. So he doesn't know, like, oh, now that I got a new set, like, I should probably be coming to this interview in, like, a nice halter top or something. really showed Speaker 1 (24:20) off. He looked a little bit like Kristi Noem's husband. Sam Pittman is still the Speaker 6 (24:24) GOAT. Speaker 1 (24:25) Sam Pittman. I think that Sam Pittman is actually stronger than Bill because I can give Bill some grace in terms of his posture. He was kind of like laying back, arms crossed sometimes, kind of like perking him up a little bit. Sam Pittman, that's just all natural. No, and they don't. Sam Speaker 6 (24:40) Pittman is, I know he's not coaching anymore, but Speaker 3 (24:42) he's a man in his 60s, and gravity seemingly hasn't taken over yet. So shout out him. His tits had the boys barking. Speaker 6 (24:52) Okay, Speaker 3 (24:53) back to the game. Speaker 6 (24:54) Back to the game. Walk Speaker 1 (24:56) me through this graph. Speaker 5 (24:58) So on the left, it's clean throws, bad luck. Drake Mays at the top of that. On the right, it's risky decisions, basically playing for it, just gambling. Paying for it. paying for it so Speaker 3 (25:09) that's the interceptions that do get caught Speaker 5 (25:11) yep and stafford's kind of to your point pfts he's towards like on the on the top end of that jordan love is the highest what's Speaker 6 (25:17) that name up there on the right side rush oh cooper rush okay it's Speaker 3 (25:20) a Speaker 6 (25:20) pretty good game yeah Speaker 3 (25:21) i did actually see a stat that said uh based on epa per play last week stafford was the second tourist quarterback Cooper Rush was the worst. Interesting. And Speaker 5 (25:32) Drake May, I mean, again, it's like it's... Speaker 1 (25:34) He didn't have... He wasn't throwing long passes, but he had the third best on target percentage. If you're watching that, if it's expected, it matters what quarterback it is. Yeah. When Cooper Rush is dropping back, I don't expect him to add any points. Speaker 6 (25:47) Anything over zero is like... That's incredible. I'd say like a perfect score for Cooper is zero points. Maybe three. Three points. That's what I expect. Three points. I expect three Speaker 1 (25:55) points. A perfect Speaker 6 (25:56) game. What were you saying, Hank? About this graph that you... found that you're living and dying by? Speaker 5 (26:01) Not living and dying by. It's graph talk. We talk a lot about graphs. I'm a graph guy when it favors Drake May. Have Speaker 1 (26:08) you seen some of the throws that he didn't make, though? Speaker 5 (26:14) No. Is this like a Mark Wahlberg situation? Speaker 1 (26:16) No, no, no. I'm saying that's also a thing that people evaluate is if you miss an open guy, if you don't look at an open guy. Speaker 5 (26:23) I did not. Because there was a video that was going Speaker 1 (26:25) around. PFT Speaker 3 (26:27) sent Max a video. Yeah. Speaker 3 (26:31) This is just film talk. So we're doing graph talk and film talk. Oh, that's Speaker 1 (26:34) a... Speaker 5 (26:35) I mean, the safety's right there. Speaker 1 (26:37) Yeah. Well, there's more. So here's another one. Speaker 5 (26:40) This is Speaker 1 (26:41) a Speaker 5 (26:41) bad Speaker 6 (26:41) podcast. I mean, the... Speaker 1 (26:43) In Speaker 5 (26:45) the fucking Super Bowl, he's throwing the ball quickly. He got murdered in Speaker 1 (26:51) the Speaker 5 (26:51) Super Bowl. No, Speaker 1 (26:51) this isn't the Speaker 5 (26:51) Super Bowl. I'm saying in the Super Bowl, he got murdered by holding on to the ball. So it's like, yeah, there was a guy down deep. He threw the ball short because he didn't want to get killed. Speaker 1 (26:59) So there's A Speaker 8 (26:59) .J. Brown. That was a miss. This guy needs to blow his nose. What is this? Speaker 5 (27:09) He's literally getting hit as he threw that ball. Is Speaker 3 (27:13) he announcing from inside a microwave? I don't know. It's a good tape breakdown. I didn't listen to Speaker 1 (27:18) it. Speaker 8 (27:19) You Speaker 1 (27:20) just Speaker 8 (27:20) told Speaker 1 (27:20) me to put them. Speaker 6 (27:21) No, no, I'm not talking to you. I'm saying it does provide context. Speaker 8 (27:24) As open as you'll see any football player at any level. The Speaker 6 (27:27) new podcasting. Speaker 8 (27:29) All of Speaker 5 (27:30) these throws, like, yeah, he's pointing out open receivers. He's not pointing out the fact that he's about to get sacked. Look, look, look. Okay, wide open. Speaker 1 (27:38) Like 60 yards of daylight in front of him. This is Speaker 6 (27:40) actually the new frontier of film breakouts. As he's scrambling away from getting sacked. We Speaker 1 (27:44) watch film Speaker 6 (27:44) and just yell Speaker 8 (27:45) at each other during it. Speaker 8 (27:49) Okay, Speaker 3 (27:50) turn this guy off. I can't listen to this guy. I think he's making a lot of good points. I just can't Speaker 6 (27:55) listen to the voice. What is that? He's talking through a tin can. What's his name? It's not Neil. It's Glenn. How about Speaker 3 (28:05) this? Drake made his last five games, seven touchdowns, seven interceptions, 1,000 passing yards, sacked 24 times. Speaker 6 (28:12) Oh, that was you talking, PFT? What? You edited it? No. You made this tape? No. What are you talking about? Wait, who posted the... I thought it was an interesting video. Oh, Glenn. Okay, Glenn. It's Glenn, Team Scout. Got it. Speaker 5 (28:27) Wait, play it again. Speaker 5 (28:30) No, just from there. Speaker 1 (28:32) Yeah, keep it going because there's actually like five more. I wasn't familiar with NFL tape watch. Great Speaker 8 (28:37) release here, and Matt Collins is as open as you'll see in the Speaker 1 (28:41) football fair. I Speaker 8 (28:41) mean, that's 60 Speaker 1 (28:42) yards. So Speaker 8 (28:43) you edited your form? That's so good. It's not me. Speaker 1 (28:48) It's Glenn. Follow NFL tape scout. Oh. Speaker 8 (28:52) If Speaker 6 (28:52) he catches this ball, Speaker 1 (28:53) hit Speaker 6 (28:54) the... Well, Max, you can't text me things. That's Speaker 1 (28:57) kind of his catchphrase. Wait, go back and play that again. That's kind of his catchphrase. When you miss... Speaker 8 (29:01) Max keeps texting me. When you miss a guy, and Speaker 1 (29:05) if that was a pass, he would have caught it, and then he's still running. That's kind of his catchphrase that he does. Speaker 6 (29:11) So Max texted me and then said at the end of the text, don't read any of this out loud. Speaker 4 (29:17) No, that was... No, no, no. That is incorrect. I said... don't say this out loud and then said one more thing you Speaker 6 (29:24) don't want me to say yeah Speaker 4 (29:25) so i told you not to say that thing out loud and you didn't i Speaker 1 (29:27) didn't again i want to again Speaker 4 (29:29) it's a great it's a great little nugget yeah Speaker 1 (29:32) again i have no idea who nfl tape watches glenn uh but he does good work but no he's got a good catchphrase he's still running it's kind of funny if you miss a wide open guy he's still running if he catches that ball you know how it goes Speaker 4 (29:44) I wonder if Hank can figure out the caveat. There's no way. Speaker 6 (29:47) I'm actually a lot happier, too, Speaker 3 (29:50) that I was so taken back by this guy's voice and how awful it sounded. I was like, at the end of the day, I was going to feel bad that it was some nerd who watches film. No, it's PFT editing. No, no. Speaker 1 (30:02) He's a good follower. Sorry, Glenn. Glenn, Glenn, Glenn. Play this. Because there's actually some crazy wide open Speaker 8 (30:07) guys. I love that. Great play action from Drake. Again, another really good play call. Oh, that one's brutal. That's one of the interceptions there. There we go. Matt Collins, again. There's no more open than Matt Collins. This is a great job of him. See how it's play a really interesting blend of man and zone. You got to know when to sit back. New ones to sit Drake. You got to find them. You got to make that throw. If he catches it, he's still running. Hank, Speaker 6 (30:34) we're, we're on, we're on the level of PFTs obsession with you. Would you rank this? Speaker 5 (30:40) It's only gotten worse. You don't even know. I don't even know. Yeah, I don't know because you guys won't tell me. Again, great podcasting with you guys having an inside joke that you're not mentioning to the listeners or me. I Speaker 1 (30:55) think we should share this with the listeners and let them. Part of me kind of hopes Speaker 5 (31:00) that the Commanders win a game at some point. Thank you. Like, Jayden Daniels wins one of his own six in his last six games played. I hope they win just to, like... Give PFT something positive to root for so he's not just like using all this time just hate watching and like hate editing and like just Drake may owns all the real state in his brain. Speaker 1 (31:22) I mean no because if that's just not true Hank. I try to break down film. I try to provide a service and I mean you can attack me all you want but the fact of the matter is he didn't attack. Don't lie. It doesn't lie. Don't lie. That's Speaker 3 (31:35) the Speaker 1 (31:35) one thing you can. That's the thing like you can't hide from the tape. Facts don't care about your feelings, bro. You Speaker 5 (31:40) can't hide from the table. We're on to this week. This is a month and a half ago. You haven't even watched all the missed throws Speaker 1 (31:44) that he had. Like all the missed open guys. We're Speaker 5 (31:46) not Speaker 4 (31:46) even halfway through. Yeah, this is only like 10 minutes. We're Speaker 1 (31:48) not Speaker 4 (31:48) even halfway through. Speaker 1 (31:49) I'm not worried about last week. I don't live in the past. I guess the good thing is it's correctable. Just like throw the ball to the open guy. Speaker 4 (31:56) Yeah. We're at 219 of 447 right now. Let's play a little bit more. Okay. Speaker 8 (32:01) Drops back, and we've got Matt down here as the Z plus. This Speaker 6 (32:04) is Speaker 8 (32:04) ridiculous. She's the Z dash. She's the Z dash receiver. And quick drop. And again, Matt, great release on the outside. Oh, that guy was wide open. Another interception. Quarterback is playing inside leverage. He thinks he's got safety help on the top. He does not, in fact, have safety help on the top. About 40 yards of daylight. Strike that. 65 yards of daylight in front of him. If he catches that, he's still running. He's still Speaker 5 (32:26) running. He's pretty good. Speaker 8 (32:27) Hey, there's Speaker 6 (32:29) a Speaker 8 (32:29) good fall. It's interesting defensive fronts. Speaker 8 (32:34) Setups at Speaker 6 (32:34) the Speaker 8 (32:34) Seahawks. Look at that. Oh, my God. I've never seen more of that. Hank, are you looking at what the Seahawks are running defensively in this tape? I Speaker 5 (32:45) don't even know what that means. They're running defense. Speaker 8 (32:47) Some people Speaker 6 (32:50) can break down films. Just look at the film, Hank. Look Speaker 8 (32:53) at the film right now. Pause it. Looks like cover one. Looks like 11 Speaker 5 (32:57) guys. True. Plan D. Right. Speaker 1 (33:00) So listen, that's a good film breakdown by Hank. And I give you a plus grading on that. But we'll tell you what, after this week, we'll revisit the tape and we'll see what we have for week two. Okay. Yeah. Speaker 5 (33:14) All right, Hank. Yeah, there's something I'm missing. I don't know what it is. You're Speaker 1 (33:18) not. It's just, listen, the tape doesn't lie. There's Speaker 5 (33:22) 11 guys playing defense. Speaker 1 (33:23) Big catch, right? Tape Speaker 6 (33:25) doesn't lie. Tape doesn't care about your feelings. Speaker 1 (33:27) This is going to be a bad weather game. What do you think about that, Hank? Speaker 5 (33:30) Oh, he edited out one of the guys. Speaker 1 (33:36) Every single clip had 10 guys on there. Speaker 5 (33:39) Yeah, like that's a level. Why Speaker 1 (33:42) would you tell Hank that? We did it. He finally counted. You guys walked Speaker 4 (33:47) him into it. But he said there's 11 guys playing. I know. Over Speaker 1 (33:50) and over. I know. I could have kept that going for another two weeks. No, Speaker 3 (33:54) because if that had gone. Speaker 3 (33:57) The minute AWL saw it, they'd just be like, there's 10 guys. That's a good point. Speaker 4 (34:04) The Speaker 3 (34:04) minute they got their eyes on Glenn Speaker 4 (34:06) Tapewatch, they'd be like, there's 10 guys. Drake Maylover would have been all over this. Because he probably has memorized all of the throws and been like, this doesn't make sense. He Speaker 6 (34:16) was Speaker 4 (34:16) not open. Speaker 6 (34:17) So, Hank, obsession level, this move by Glenn Tapewatch? Speaker 5 (34:22) It's insane. Speaker 6 (34:23) Why did you Speaker 1 (34:24) choose Speaker 5 (34:24) Glenn? Speaker 6 (34:25) I like Speaker 1 (34:25) it. Glenn sounds Speaker 6 (34:26) like a tape guy. Glenn Tapewatch is a great name. He's Speaker 1 (34:29) got a good avatar, too. I like Glenn's avatar. Speaker 6 (34:31) Wait, let me see his avatar. Glenn Tapewatch. NFL Tapewatch. Oh, okay. Asian. Okay. Speaker 6 (34:40) All right, so, yeah, how are you feeling? Like, BFT, he's on you. The Speaker 4 (34:46) bio is, he's still running, guys. Speaker 6 (34:51) He's still running Speaker 5 (34:52) as strong. Speaker 6 (34:53) Yeah, he's still running. The good news is you can now do this with the AWL's help to Speaker 3 (35:00) get it into other parts of the internet. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, they'll boost it and be like, what are you talking about? Oh, Billy's already following it. Yeah, well, naturally. Billy's a tape guy. Okay, he's still running guy. Hank? Speaker 5 (35:14) I'm excited for this week. Travion's back. I think Romeo Dobbs obviously had a horrible first game. A.J. Brown's out. He's going to be wide receiver one. I think they're going to get him a lot of looks. I'm expecting a good bounce back. I'm excited. I don't know about the spread, five and a half, but I expect the Patriots to win this game. Speaker 1 (35:30) The weather is, I think, definitely going to be a factor. It's going to be, I think, bad. Maybe like 25 mile per hour winds. Should be ugly. The Steelers. Speaker 6 (35:39) I don't know if you guys seen, but like Mike McCarthy said this, I think, in the in before the season that they're going to use TJ Watt a little differently. And he only played Speaker 3 (35:49) 38 of Pittsburgh's 60 defensive snaps last Sunday. It feels like he's basically like less is more type of situation. If we can unleash TJ Watt. for 40 snaps instead of 60 snaps he could be tj watt that he was five years ago Speaker 1 (36:05) yeah use him as a rotation guy so he's always fresh yeah and i mean he did have a great game last week great game like an awesome like a classic tj watt game yeah Speaker 3 (36:12) it was a throwback tj watt game uh they're also aaron rogers has uh talked about like i guess there's target share questions going on is he not spreading around enough he said he doesn't give a fuck he said he's also going to keep feeding dk I would assume that's about DK's drops in offensive pass interference, but he's going to keep feeding them. Speaker 1 (36:31) Yeah, yeah. I mean, DK, in theory, should have had a really good game last week Speaker 3 (36:35) if Speaker 1 (36:36) he had made some of Speaker 3 (36:37) the Speaker 1 (36:37) catches that he normally makes. But the good news is for Steelers fans, you are trying new things offensively. Speaker 5 (36:42) Yeah. Speaker 1 (36:43) Must win? Speaker 5 (36:44) No. You asked this last week. Speaker 1 (36:46) Yeah, but I Speaker 3 (36:47) know. But we're now into week two. It's like we're right before it. I don't know if anything changed. Who's your week three competition? Speaker 5 (36:55) Is it Chargers? Speaker 1 (36:58) Is Speaker 5 (36:58) it week four? Speaker 1 (36:59) Must win? Speaker 3 (37:00) No? Speaker 5 (37:01) No. I Speaker 3 (37:01) think every week's a must win. At Jaguars, who are playing well. And then at Bills. Speaker 6 (37:09) Tough Speaker 3 (37:09) schedule. Speaker 6 (37:10) What's a... You got to be two and two after the first four? Or one and three okay? Speaker 5 (37:16) I think one and three is manageable. Speaker 3 (37:17) Okay. One and three is manageable. Okay. Patriots. We got Speaker 5 (37:22) to be two and three by week five. Three and three after week four. Okay. Speaker 1 (37:27) Since the year 2000, the Patriots are 14 and five against Pittsburgh. That's also Mike Tomlin's Pittsburgh. And it's also Mike Tomlin's Pittsburgh. Throughout Speaker 3 (37:34) all the record books, Mike Speaker 1 (37:36) Tomlin's not there anymore. New sheriff in town. Yeah. It's Big Mike. Speaker 3 (37:40) Big Mike. Speaker 1 (37:40) Big Mike. I did like Tomlin saying the Browns is the Browns. Mm-hmm. Mike Tomlin. Juju Speaker 5 (37:45) Smith Schuster said that. Speaker 1 (37:46) Yeah, but he quoted. Juju. My point is that Mike Tomlin on TV is like a different guy entirely. Yeah. I wish that we had gotten a little bit of this Mike. You could tell Speaker 6 (37:56) why everyone loved him. Yeah. Yeah. All the players love. He's very funny. All right. Bengals and Texans. Texans minus three over under is 46 and a half. Joe Burrow is already dealing with the back. Yep. Not Speaker 1 (38:08) good. He says he's going to play. He said he needs surgery to not play. I don't think an LSU quarterback would be listed as injured ahead of a big game if he wasn't actually injured. He's going to play. That Speaker 3 (38:16) doesn't Speaker 1 (38:16) sound like something they'd do. Speaker 3 (38:17) Yeah. He's got back tightness. This is a big game for the Texans, obviously. They started 0-1. They don't want to go to 0-2, although they have been in that spot before. I'll say this. Zach Taylor. made comments in the press that he has to do a better job of getting the ball to Jamar Chase. If you're looking to something to bet, Jamar Chase had two catches, 12 yards in week one, and he said that is going to be a point of emphasis. We Speaker 6 (38:47) also have a really fun body language discussion about C.J. Stroud. So Andre Johnson said that he didn't like his body language. He said, with him, and this is just me personally, what I dislike about CJ is his body language. His body language is bad. Anytime something happens, it's like motions. I think as a former player, your quarterback having that type of body language is bad because other guys look at you as the quarterback. So when they see you feeling a certain way, it kind of trickles through the team. Speaker 1 (39:17) Yeah. So we got a Speaker 6 (39:18) body Speaker 1 (39:18) language watch. Andre Johnson. should know what bad quarterback body language looks like. Yep. If you look at the guys that threw him the ball. He's been around enough of them to know. I actually agree with him. Yeah, CJ Stroud did answer a Speaker 3 (39:29) question about it, and he did say, I have no comment. And I watched the clip because I was like, is his body language going to be bad when someone asks the question about his bad body language? It was neutral body language. Okay. So I graded it on my Speaker 1 (39:42) PFF grade, neutral. That's good. That's good. I think that he's... Speaker 3 (39:45) That's him right there answering the question. That's Speaker 1 (39:47) neutral. The problem is when he wins, he's got great body language. Speaker 3 (39:50) Actually, you know what? Maybe I should do that. I'll do a PFF grade of body language. Maybe I won't because the Bears are playing at the same time. Someone else in the cave, we will. We'll have them do a PFF grade of CJ Stroud's body Speaker 1 (40:02) language. The problem with him is... His body language depends on whether or not his team's winning or losing. Speaker 3 (40:08) Yeah. So Speaker 1 (40:08) if you have just neutral body language and you're not a super excited person, that's fine if you keep it that way. So, for example, when the Texans beat the Bears, CJ was full of himself. Remember that? Yep. Yeah, he little bro'd. So he's walking around chest out because they won a game. And then if he has a bad game, he's a big time, like, is that Linus that's walking with his blanket around? Mm-hmm. Yeah. I think it is. It's probably Linus. No, it's Michael Cera. Michael Cera. Yeah, with his backpack. He's a big Michael Cera sulking around guy if they do lose. Speaker 3 (40:41) Yeah. Okay. I don't know. This game... This is going to be a good game. This would be... If it wasn't for the Jersey Jerry Hank factor, this would definitely probably be the sound game. I mean, if Speaker 1 (40:52) Hank's getting butt fucked. Speaker 3 (40:53) Yeah. Speaker 1 (40:54) True. Save some of that animosity you have towards me, towards the guy that's trying to butt fuck you, Hank. Speaker 3 (40:59) Yeah, Jerry is. Speaker 1 (41:00) I'm just... I don't have animosity Speaker 5 (41:03) towards you. Okay. Speaker 1 (41:04) You're just obsessed with them. I'm not obsessed. Again, this was not me. I feel bad Speaker 5 (41:08) for you. Speaker 1 (41:09) Okay. Okay, Billy. Speaker 3 (41:12) By the way, Mr. Cash Money Cash Mo on Twitter said, if Burrow is injured, I'm chopping my dick off. So something to watch. Could have a dick chopping off. Okay, next one. Yeah, this would be a good game, though. I'm very interested to see how the offensive line of the Bengals, who played very well against the Bucs, holds up against the Texans, especially a Texans team that just got a little bit embarrassed on defense. And what kind of effort are you going to get out of them? Speaker 6 (41:40) Next up. Saints, Ravens, Ravens minus 8.5, over under 46.5. Shuck Ladder, Speaker 3 (41:47) just Speaker 6 (41:47) say Speaker 3 (41:48) that right off the bat. Right, Max? Shuck Ladder to the moon. Every time. Shuck said that he was trying to be too perfect in the first half, yes, week one, and that was why he didn't look great. The big question in this game is what does the Ravens offense look like without Zay Flowers? He was so electric against the Colts. And will it be a little different going into this game, knowing that he's probably not going to play his day-to-day for Sunday? He was not practicing as of Wednesday. He Speaker 1 (42:17) was by far the best receiver in the NFL. If you look at all the splits and separation, all that stuff, even though he went out early, he was by far the best receiver in the entire league. Yeah. For barely over half against the Colts. Speaker 3 (42:29) Yeah. Speaker 1 (42:29) So I think the Saints are alive in this game a little bit. I think they're certainly live against the spread. Yeah. I think at Baltimore is a tough place to play. Yeah. Very tough, especially first home game of the season. Lamar looked awesome. Awesome. It's like this. We might be seeing this is prime Lamar this year. Speaker 3 (42:46) Yeah, absolutely. The Saints problem has been that they start every game pretty slow. So Saints are two and 16 first quarter against the spread in 015 and three. So they've not been leading after a first quarter. In 18 games. That's week one and all of last year. So that's a point. Kellen Moore, less game Speaker 6 (43:09) balls, more come out to gates hot. Because the Ravens are one of those teams. There are certain teams in the NFL, it's like, if you get down Speaker 3 (43:17) to the Ravens, they will just feed Derrick Henry and punish you and it will be game over. You don't want to be down to them by multiple scores going into the second Speaker 1 (43:25) quarter. Speaker 3 (43:25) Yeah, I think you just have to Speaker 1 (43:26) tell them if you want to give out game balls, you cannot come out of the gates slow in the first half. Yeah. And just use that as a carrot. Speaker 3 (43:32) Maybe give out a first quarter game ball and then be like, no one gets it. You guys all sucked. That's pretty crazy. Speaker 6 (44:06) Because Drew Speaker 3 (44:07) Brees has all the Saints records. He had 325 yards in the second half in overtime. Drew Brees is second with 310. He's third with 292. He's right down the list. So, yeah, just figure it out for four-quarter Saints. Speaker 1 (44:21) I was happy to see that it wasn't just us that didn't understand that fumble ruling against the Lions. Like everybody, no matter how much football they've watched, They were like, that has always
