The trail had been long and difficult, and as they approached the town of Rawhide, the tracks they had been following suddenly disappeared in the moonlit darkness. Speaker 4 (3:28) The two Speaker 2 (3:31) men drew rein and dismounted to study the hard-packed, rocky ground. Speaker 4 (3:35) Brooks, plenty smart at covering tracks, you know that, eh? It's blow work, sailing from here. Speaker 3 (3:42) I wonder if they're going to town. Speaker 4 (3:44) Maybe they'll go there. Maybe Camping Hill. Speaker 3 (3:48) Hard to say. While Baldy Bennett and Jack Murdock worked at the safe, Cliff Nolo and Squint stood guard outside. Squint said, Speaker 4 (4:25) Someone's coming this way. If they drop on him, he can't sound the alarm. I'll go inside and warn Baldy and Jack. Speaker 2 (4:32) Squint ran to the bank to warn his friends, while Cliff listened intensely to the sound of approaching hoofbeats. The rider was Marshal Joe Howe. Making his nightly round of tone.
