Speaker 2 (0:00) Happy Monday, everybody. I spent the weekend watching Verity because apparently covering disturbing stories all week long just wasn't enough. I needed some recreational anxiety. Today, the fallout from Krista Pike's failed execution. The latest on the Cornell case because we've got lots of new details. We're still asking who... What, when, and whether accountability requires a subpoena? Then Dr. Mike has reportedly been approached for The Bachelor. Finally, a man who can check your blood pressure before becoming the reason it's elevated. My only question is, does the fantasy suite come with prior authorization? Plus, my verity of verdict, Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, and a household where I would have left my belongings and forfeited the security deposit. if Speaker 3 (0:47) you Speaker 2 (0:47) know what I mean. Grab your coffee because it's no filter and we have several things to diagnose. I hope you're ready for it. Speaker 3 (0:54) Let's dive in. Speaker 2 (0:56) This is No Filter with Zack Peter. Your go-to source for all the latest pop culture and reality TVT. Surf fresh all week long. Speaker 2 (1:10) Now, let's dive in. Speaker 2 (1:15) What's up, everybody? Welcome, everybody, to the club. Welcome on in. Welcome on in. Welcome on in. I've officially survived week one of my candida. Cleanse. Yes, I am a doc. I am on a doctor ordered candida cleanse. So I cannot drink alcohol and I cannot have any sugar for 30 days. I've made it through week one. All is well. I am on the candida supplements. So I'm taking like oregano and all the things that are meant to help starve the candida in addition to the no alcohol in addition to the no sugar or no added sugar really and like really limiting natural sugars like very like Very little fruit. You know, trying to be mindful of my carb intake. I'm also on fluconazole. So, yeah, I'm doing the whole prox, be like, why are you doing the candida cleanse? Why are you doing the cleanse? You're not doing it right. You shouldn't take all your supplements like this. You shouldn't do all that. You shouldn't do this. If you do need candida cleanse, everybody in the peanut gallery and my DMs and my comments are like, they all have all their little, you know, advice. And I'm like, listen, okay, first of all, this ain't my first candida cleanse. Numero uno. I haven't done one in a very long time, but I used to be very into the functional medicine before any of you were even on the functional medicine. I was taking probiotics and ashwagandha 15 years ago. Okay. I've been on this. I don't need any advice, but I appreciate it. But also I don't need it. So thank you. Next. I'm on my candida cleanse. I'm trying to get through it on my own. So I don't need all the, all the extra, um, you know. TikTok doctors sliding into my DMs and not even real doctors, just, you know, like ladies with their chubby little Cheeto-dusted fingers be like, you shouldn't do this. Don't take that many supplements at one time. Make sure you break them up because you're going to end up killing your kidneys. You're going to end up killing your liver. You know what was killing my liver? Three martinis a night, okay? I think my vitamins can handle it. I break them up throughout the day, but I'm pretty sure my liver and my kidneys can handle. some vitamins and supplements considering how much alcohol I was able to down. And you know what? We tested my kidneys and we tested my liver. And why am I defending my body to you? My body, my choice. I will take my supplements in whatever order, however I want to. Let me live my life. But I officially survived week one. I am on my fluconazole. I'm on all my supplements. I am on my peptides. I'm on a nice cute little cocktail of peptides. And I have to say, I'm actually liking the peptides so far. You Speaker 3 (3:35) know, Speaker 2 (3:36) Zach, you don't like Bratz dolls? Speaker 2 (3:39) Why, Zach, you don't like Bratz? Yeah, that's what I need. I need somebody to go on TikTok and do a little Bratz doll with me and be like, and this is Zach. Yeah, give me some Bratz dolls diagrams of my gut. Speaker 2 (3:56) If you're watching this right now, if you're streaming this live on YouTube or on X, be sure to hit that like button, hit the subscribe button, hit the follow button, do all the things right now. Love you guys. Be sure to hit the like button, hit the subscribe button, do all of the things. We have a lot to get into, a lot to discover because every day there's just new information that's coming out left and right. And my head is like, I can't keep up. I can't keep up. This Cornell story is just like, boom, boom, boom, plot twist, plot twist, plot twist, boom, boom, boom. So it's one thing after another, after another. Could you try again? I'm not talking to you. Speaker 2 (4:38) Look, sorry, trying to come, shouldn't say the name. Speaker 3 (4:40) Sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say your name. Speaker 2 (4:44) Don't say the robot names because when you say the robot names, it's bad news bears. Anyway. Speaker 2 (4:52) Anyway. Speaker 2 (4:56) Okay. What should we start with first? What do you guys want to dive into first? Actually, I did something bad. Okay. I did a bad thing and you're going to get mad at me and you're going to want to cancel me. But you know what? I did it so that you don't have to. And that's watch Verity. So Verity opened over the weekend starring Dakota Johnson. who plays Loen, if you're familiar with the book, Anne Hathaway, who plays Verity, and then Josh Hartnett, who played Jeremy. And so it follows a writer who discovers some disturbing material while she's having to complete another author's book. I guess, I mean, the description is pretty clear, right? And you can see it from the trailer. Anne Hathaway plays Verity. She's like a really famous... I don't know if I would call it true crime, but like she has, she writes fictional novels and she has like a novel series. It's a very like dark series, but so she's a writer. And then she needs somebody to come in and ghost write for her. So Dakota Johnson, who plays Loewen, she comes in, she's like a newer up and coming writer. She's struggling to like make ends meet. She gets asked to come in and help Verity write or complete her. book series because she has a deal with Hatchet and she has three books that are due. And so she can't finish them on her own. So low end Dakota Johnson's character is asked to come in. Jeremy is Anne Hathaway Verity's husband, hunky husband. And so Dakota Johnson comes to like move into their house and help Verity finish the book. And so, and all sorts of mystery and craziness unfold and ensue. Speaker 2 (6:25) So that's your recap. If you don't know the story of Verity, I didn't know the story because I'd never read the book. And listen, I get it. You're going to want to cancel me. I shouldn't have watched it. I know we're on like a Colleen Hoover strike, but the trailer looked very good. Okay. And I was like, I'm going to secretly go to the movies. I'm going to do date night. And so I did date night and I went to go see Verity on date night. And unfortunately. The trailer looked good. And so I thought I could secretly watch it. And if I secretly liked it, I was like, oh, maybe I'll tell members only that it's secretly pretty good. But I will just tell you this. I'm going to try to not give you any spoilers in case you do want to watch it. Or if you want spoilers, then like I won't give you spoilers. You guys get mad when I give spoilers. But anyway, my immediate verdict is because I saw some of the chatter and I didn't want to let any of the online chatter like get into my head. Speaker 2 (7:10) But my verdict after watching Verity, I hated it. I hated it. And I don't remember the last time I hated a movie this bad. And I didn't hate it because of Colleen Hoover, right? I went into it actually really wanting to enjoy it. I went into it thinking I was going to enjoy it. I was like, ooh, murder mystery, erotic thriller. Like, I love a good thriller. This was terrible. It wasn't chilling. It wasn't even sexy. Like the boom boom in the bedroom scenes weren't even that hot. Like Anne Hathaway carried the movie and she was like, you know, comatose the entire time in her wheelchair. She was like, you know, alive, but like, you know, not brain dead, but like body dead the entire movie, which you can see from the trailer. And like, I think she carried the movie and she barely even did anything. She was just like, like practically drooling on herself. And I was just like, but listen. I'm just going to warn you right now. Okay. I wish I would have read the reviews. I wish I would have listened to the reviews, but I needed to press the red button when it says don't press the red button. I needed to go and press the red button. And I'm warning you do not make the same mistake. I didn't watch this movie. I was very excited to watch it. Right. Very excited. Most people were hating on it. And I was just like, they're just haters. They just don't like Colleen Hoover because what she did to Justin Baldoni, I wanted to watch it and judge it all on my own. And again, I feel like I, I have not. hated a movie this much in a very very long time the movie moved way too fast i feel like there were some major plot holes that were left out i didn't even read the book so i don't know all the details um of like what was left out but you could just feel the gaps in the movie and then there were too many here's a little spoiler there were too many like when i say it moved too fast like there were too many moments where dakota's dakota johnson's character because it's like a um It's a thriller. There's like mystery that she's unsolving in real time, right? And like she was finding her blues clues like way too easily. You know, like in a rom-com where like the woman's running across, like Jennifer Lopez, she's running across the street and her heel gets stuck in the road and then she falls and then the man just happens to be there and catch her and it's like, oh, cheesy, corny. But like in a rom-com, that makes sense. In a thriller, you don't want it to be that easy where she's just like, oh, look at what I just found a blues clues. What? There's a hidden note? under the floorboard in this empty room and the floor blur just happens to be creaked up so I can see that there's something hidden under there. Oh my! It was a lot of that sort of vibe. It was awful. It was just too... The acting wasn't great. The story was terrible. You can feel the gaps in whatever context was missing from the story. It felt like they tried to take whatever the book was. shove it all the way down into a few pages and then just try to make the most of what they had. And it just, it didn't, it didn't work. It was just bad. You know, I can tell that they took a lot of, I know that they took a lot of creative liberties from the book to the movie, which is natural. But in this case, like it was just bad, bad, bad. I would probably give it, if I had to give it five stars, I would give it one out of five stars, right? The only redeeming parts. These are the only redeeming parts. We get to see Josh Hartnett's butt. But it's very brief, like very brief. And like the pants don't even come all the way down. Like you kind of just get like mostly crack. Like I would say you get like 90 % of the butt and then like the pants like stay above the little bottom. So it just like, I don't know, like it was something. Anne Hathaway's not bad. Her acting is good and she looks fierce, right? The opening scene, probably the best scene you're ever going to get in the entire movie. Jarring, right? Speaker 2 (10:47) I feel like they've shown it and it's a classic in the, in the book where she's shocked because somebody gets hit by a car and then she's like splattered with blood. That doesn't have anything to do with the story, but it was just like a jarring good opening scene. It's like, Oh, shocking. And then you think it's going to be like bloody and gory and it's just not. Like, it's just, you know, even the plot twist at the end, because I love a good murder mystery thriller sort of situation where I'm like, who did it? Is it him? And I'm like, ooh, Law & Order, SVU, I'm Olivia Benson in the movie theater being like, ooh, it's him. No, it's the son. No, it's this. No, it's the daughter. No, it's the neighbor. You know, you're always trying to figure out, like, who done it? Who did what? Who's secretly hiding the real secrets? Like, what's the real truth behind the hidden door? Speaker 2 (11:30) even the plot twist was fucking stupid. I was just like, what a waste of my life. So it was stupid. It was bad. I don't recommend it. Don't go and watch it because I regret having watched it. I like that I got to have a cute little date and eat, you know, eat a little popcorn and live my best life, you know, and do like cute, cute little hands and stuff. Speaker 1 (11:50) But Speaker 2 (11:50) outside of that, stop trying to make Colleen Hoover happen. And I would say, watch or skip Verity. I would skip it. Speaker 2 (12:01) Okay, let's get into, ooh, Krista Pike and the failed execution. Because, ha, Olivia says, can Miss Diet Pepsi just go away now? Remember when I got into beef with Colleen Hoover? Because she posted that, like, weird video where she was just like, hey, I invented the best thing ever. It's Diet Pepsi. Ice cube. I was like, what in the coconut tree is going on here? What is she on? And can I get a half of that? You know, it was crazy. And then she got mad. And she's like, if this is what you consider strange behavior, then you must be new here or something like that. Whatever. Let's get to Krista Pike because there's a lot to dive into there. But first, quick ad break. A message from this week's sponsors. Speaker 3 (12:53) Listen, it's October and I know the fall Speaker 2 (12:55) hits differently. Speaker 2 (15:30) So Krista Pike's lawyer is now saying that she remains unconscious. She is currently on a ventilator following the failed execution last week. Remember, they tried to inject her with two lethal injections, none of which worked. She survived. I'm a survivor. I'm not going to give up. I'm not going to stop up. I'm going to work harder. Well, Tennessee's correction commissioner. will be resigning, I believe, this week. And the governor is appointing an investigator to see what the heck is going on in Tennessee. But what's even crazier is this headline. Hold on. You guys need to see this headline that TMZ posted, which I just thought was wackadoodle crazy. So I was on X and I was just scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. How many more shots until you're scrolling? Right. And I was like, OK, TMZ, what are you going to hit me with next? Well, TMZ decided to post this crazy headline. Krista Pike gave last meal money to buy pizza for the homeless. Are we really trying to humanize a brutal murderer? Krista Pike gave her last meal to buy pizza for the homeless. And then we have on X, they put a community note. Readers added context that they thought you might want to know. And they included three different sources, or at least there were three different sources listed at the time of this community note. It says Krista Pike, who tortured and murdered calling Slemmer, denied her final meal, according to Tennessee Department of Correction. There is no evidence that she requested for it to be given away to the homeless. TMZ and the New York Times use unsourced information. So yes, it is true that she denied her final meal, but there is no evidence that she gave that final meal to the homeless. Why would she, I don't know, to try to have like one last bargain call, you know, one last come to Jesus moment? I don't really know. But like, why are we even trying to humanize this woman? Do we not remember what she did? Let's actually, let's revisit this case, shall we? Let's remember, let's reflect upon what Krista actually did, okay? So Colleen Slemmer, who was a 19-year-old Knoxville Job Corps student, she was murdered on January 12th, 1995. Her fellow student, Krista Pike, who at the time was 18, Krista was 18, Colleen was 19. Krista Pike believed that Colleen Slemmer was trying to steal her boyfriend. Okay. My man wouldn't touch you with a 10-foot pole. My man with a 10-foot pole. My man with a 10-foot pole. That was the TikTok remix that people did of Gypsy Rose. Remember when she was like, my man wouldn't touch you with a 10-foot pole. Because we're all about the killer chicks these days, right? Go, Lindsay. Go, Gypsy. So. Speaker 2 (18:22) Tadaryl Shipp was the boyfriend of Krista Pike at the time. And Tadaryl claimed that Colleen, I guess she wanted him, right? She wanted Tadaryl all to herself. And so Pike was like, not today, Satan. And so Krista Pike and her boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp and another student, Shadala Peterson. So Krista, Tadaryl, and Shadala. That's a mouthful. They decided to lure Colleen into an isolated area, the University of Texas, near campus. And that's where they brutally beat her, slashed her, and then a pentagram was carved into her chest. Okay? Krista ultimately crushed this young woman's skull. with a piece of asphalt, and then kept a skull fragment as a souvenir that she was then showing off to other students when she was recounting the killing. Okay? Colleen's body was discovered the following morning. Ultimately, Krista Pike confessed to police. She was convicted in 1996 of premeditated first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. She received a death sentence with the jury finding that the killings involved torture beyond what was necessary to cause death because they wanted to torture Colleen, all because Colleen allegedly wanted a little piece of Tadero. And so that's what warranted this. And so now Krista Pike is on life support because of the two execution attempts that failed. And so after that, you know, now they're trying to save her. And listen, I get it. You think it's inhumane to torture her. Fine. But. saving her so she's not suffering is one thing. Keeping the bitch alive is another thing. She's on life support. I feel like this is a really easy solution. You just unplug the bitch. Just unplug that lady. Just unplug her. It's not that hard. That lady is already expecting to go. She already made her peace. She's already ready to meet her maker. She is ready to see Satan, right? Give her some morphine, unplug that lady, and let her go see Satan. She is ready. Why are we keeping her alive? Why are we using resources to keep the lady alive? Unplug that lady. Clip, clip, clip. I feel like it's not that hard. Like it's a really easy solution. Like if I were in that hospital and I were walking by, I'd be like, oops, I tripped. I tripped on this cord. How did it get unplugged? Just give her a little morphine and send her on her way. You know? Well, I guess there was another case, Willie Francis. So he survived his, I believe he's the only other person that survived his execution outside of Krista. But so Willie Francis survived his first execution, but ultimately this was in Louisiana. He was executed eventually by electric chair, mind you. Okay. So on May 3rd, 1946, he was 17 years old. Willie Francis survived an attempted electrocution. because the electric chair malfunctioned. He had been convicted of murdering pharmacist Andrew Thomas. And so his lawyers tried to appeal, saying that if they tried to electrocute him again, it violated his double jeopardy rights. You know, it was cruel and unusual punishment. Ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled five to four that the second attempt could be preceded, right? Because the first time was a failure. It was an accident. So I'm curious if they're going to, what they're going to determine in Krista's case and whether or not they're going to let her live. I mean, does
