And I think this one is one of those that I want everybody to think on it because any information that comes in, I think it's still unsolved. Like, we don't know what happens. Okay. It's one of those that, like, any ears, I think, would be a good thing. So we're going to talk about the completely head-scratching disappearance of Angela Green. Oh. Speaker 1 (10:57) I have read actually, this is a case that I actually really know a lot about, I think anyways. I've read about this recently. Speaker 2 (11:04) Yeah. This is Speaker 1 (11:05) strange. Is very strange. And I really feel for her daughter. I do too. In this situation. I feel for her daughter hard. Speaker 2 (11:14) Yeah. So I really hope something comes to pass that she can get some answers. Speaker 1 (11:19) Yeah. Speaker 2 (11:20) So let's talk about Angela Greene. Okay. Angela Green was born in China in 1962. She was the second of two daughters born to college professors. She was born in a suburb of Beijing. And like many young people in China, she spent the first, you know, what, like 20 years of her life in a pretty small rural village dreaming of an exciting life in the city. After graduating from high school, she did find some work as a model. She was beautiful. Yeah, stunning. Stunning. and was training to become a journalist. But what she really wanted most of all was to move to the United States because her sister had a few years earlier. Now, in the mid-1990s, Angela finally got her chance to travel to the States with her sister, to go visit her sister, I should say, because her sister and her husband were living in Kansas at the time, so she was going to go there. While she was here, she was here on a tourist visit, and friends of Angela's parents introduced her to Jeff Green. Okay. He was an IT specialist, 15 years her senior. He spoke fluent Mandarin, which is wild. Yeah, that is. Very impressive. Despite the age difference between them, again, like 15 years, they hit it off completely and continued their relationship through phone calls and letters, like long distance. Nice. By 1998, Angela was living in Prairie Village, Kansas, finally. And she ended up living with Jeff on a fiancé visa. Speaker 1 (12:47) Ooh, we know about those if you see 90 Day. Speaker 2 (12:50) Now, Angela's sister and her husband were super happy to have another member of the family living so close, but it was really her niece, Michelle, who was the most excited to have her aunt nearby. Since she was in the country on a fiancé visa, Angela wasn't able to work in Speaker 1 (13:06) the Speaker 2 (13:06) country. So she spent a lot of her time with Michelle. Right. And Michelle later said, we had a very special bond. It was always me and my aunt going on little adventures. I thought she was so beautiful and I wanted to be beautiful like her. Oh Speaker 1 (13:18) my God. Isn't that Speaker 2 (13:19) like the sweetest thing ever? That Speaker 1 (13:21) is precious. That's like us. We were always going on little adventures. And you thought I was so beautiful. And I did think you were. And I do think you're so beautiful. And I wanted to be just like you. I was Speaker 2 (13:29) like, oh. So Angela and Jeff got married in 1998. But that was also, so this was a very happy event, obviously. But it was also followed by a little bit of a period of frustration and sadness for Angela. Oh. Because she loved being near her sister, but she was struggling to adjust to a life in Kansas. Yeah. That's Speaker 1 (13:49) a Speaker 2 (13:49) very different place. It's a very different place. Speaker 1 (13:52) And like, Speaker 2 (13:52) you can't work. That's gotta be tough. Yeah, that's Speaker 1 (13:55) tough. She also, in making that Speaker 2 (14:02) even harder, she also felt, like, very self-conscious Speaker 1 (14:05) about her limited English. Aw. Which Speaker 2 (14:07) I can't imagine how that feels. Yeah. To, like, not Speaker 1 (14:10) know what people are saying. Yeah, Speaker 2 (14:11) like, I feel like going to another country and not knowing the language or not being able to speak it would be scary. Yeah, absolutely. It just would be. Like, you feel a little helpless and vulnerable because, you Speaker 1 (14:21) know. And limited. Speaker 2 (14:22) Yeah. So as a result, she spent a lot of her time alone. And she really only talked with her family or Jeff, which left her feeling a little isolated and lonely. That's tough. Two years later, Angela gave birth to a baby girl, Ellie. Her whole life changed for the better after Ellie was born. Not only did caring for Ellie give Angela something that completely fulfilled her and filled her days, but it also gave her, like, meaning and direction. And she Speaker 1 (14:49) felt like, this is my purpose. Speaker 2 (14:52) Ellie said in a 2020 interview about her mom, she's incredible and she would give without receiving anything back. To have that Speaker 1 (15:08) is like so incredibly special. Speaker 2 (15:10) Now, from the moment she was born, Ellie was the absolute center of her mother's world. They spent every day together with Angela taking thousands of photos of her and pushing her daughter to be the best version of herself in every situation. She says, obviously, her mom had, like, very high standards for her, but she just, like, pushed her to be better. Yeah. And she said she had a pretty happy childhood.
