All right, we're back. It is macro dosing. It is Tuesday. It is October 6th. And I don't know if you watched any of the NFL games yesterday, but in my prep for part of my take last night, I came across a stat that I wanted to share with you. Kenneth Walker, we talked about him a little bit last week, maybe the week before. He's now got his own shot at being the bell cow back. in Kansas City and he's lighting the world on fire. He's playing really, really well. He's got 537 rushing yards through the first four games of the season. That 537 rushing yards is first in the last decade. So over the last 10 years, nobody has had more than 537 rushing yards in the first four games of the season. The second place guy is Derrick Henry in 2021 with 510 yards in the first four games of the season. Do you know who the last player to have more than 537 rushing yards was in the first four games of an NFL season? Speaker 3 (3:46) I do not. It was you. It was Arian Foster in 2010, 539 rushing yards. So just in case people out there forget how good Arian was, as good as Kenneth Walker is right now playing for the Chiefs, Arian was better playing for the Texans back in 2010. Whoa. Speaker 4 (4:06) That's a pretty cool stat, man. Yep. Speaker 3 (4:07) Just want to give you some flowers sometimes. Speaker 4 (4:09) I appreciate that. My oldest daughter, she was too young to care about football when I was doing it. The day we uh, we pulled up she's like I want to watch you so we pulled up like a oh like a game couple games on YouTube It was dope to, I ain't been a minute, but it was dope to see her see me in that light. It was fun. Speaker 3 (4:33) Were you at the game yesterday? Speaker 4 (4:36) I was. They had this, like, it's the 25th season of the Texans, and Hannah McNair reached out to me and said, you know, come on, we're having a bunch of the guys out for, like, the 25th, like, celebration. So I pulled up to the game. It was dope. I seen Kubiak. Kubiak was there. It was cool seeing all the guys, all the fellas. Speaker 3 (4:58) Yeah. I saw Andre Johnson was there, right? Speaker 4 (5:02) Yeah, Dre Hopkins was there. Yep. Kush. Speaker 3 (5:05) It's a pretty good squad right there. Speaker 4 (5:08) We Speaker 3 (5:08) had a squad, though. I actually think that if you look at, you said 25 years of Texans football. The amount of all-time great players that the Texans have had is – they've had a lot in such a concentrated amount of time. You look at some other franchises that don't have that resume and they've been around for way longer. Speaker 4 (5:31) That's a good point, actually. I would agree with that. I think it's a testament to how Rick Smith when he was a GM. Speaker 4 (5:41) for whatever people feel about him. I thought he had a great eye for talent. I really did. Like a lot of the dudes that, and we didn't keep a lot of our guys too. Like think about like Jacoby Jones. He left, went to Baltimore, won a Super Bowl. Connor Barwin, Glover Quinn, Brooks Reed. Like these cats went on and had great careers with other teams, but the Texans drafted him. Speaker 3 (6:01) Yeah. Yeah. They've had, they've had some all-time greats. That was a tough game yesterday too. The defense. Yeah. The Speaker 4 (6:07) defense doesn't seem like they're, They're not dominant like they were over the last couple years. Yeah, something's missing. I haven't sat down and broke down a film and watched them and seen why, but you can tell there's what the difference is, but you can tell something's off. I was sitting by Hannah McNair. And, uh... And so it's me, Hop. Dre, Hannah, and Kyle McNair. And they have a great, beautiful suite. Speaker 4 (6:38) I reach over the dress and I'm conflicted, man. I got, I got CD lamb on my fantasy team. And he goes, shit, I do too. Speaker 4 (6:49) It's like, I hope he has a horrible game. I mean, he did not have a horrible game. Speaker 3 (6:53) He did Speaker 4 (6:54) not have a horrible game. 17 catches, Speaker 3 (6:56) 180 yards. Yeah, that was – and it's not like – the Cowboys are going to be a great team offensively. They've got so many weapons. But they're going to get their yards no matter who they're playing against, I think. But the thing that concerned me was that if you're the Texans and you're like a dominant defense, like a top three defense. in the league, and that's the strength of your team, that's what the team is built around, you should be good enough to take away some of that from an opponent's best threat. I don't think that you'll find many top-tier defenses that will allow 17 catches to one wide receiver. Speaker 4 (7:36) Yeah, it was not a good show. Speaker 4 (7:40) But there's still an outside chance if they go on a run. Speaker 6 (7:44) Yeah. Speaker 4 (7:47) or dreaming Speaker 4 (7:49) And then it came back and I had a real good Speaker 3 (7:51) season. Speaker 2 (7:51) Nobody's made it from 0-4, right? Speaker 3 (7:53) I don't know. I can't Speaker 2 (7:55) imagine. I Speaker 3 (7:55) don't think so. But 0-3, they've done it twice. The Texans have done it. Speaker 2 (7:58) Those are the only two. Speaker 3 (7:59) I think so, yeah. But I don't know about 0-4. That seems like it's a pretty big hole to dig yourself out of. We've got something that I'm really looking forward to talking to Arian about more. He went down to Argentina and he had a little journey, a little vision quest down there. Speaker 4 (8:18) A vision quest. And Speaker 3 (8:20) that's a tease. We're going to tease that. So that's going to come a little bit later. But yeah. The other thing was, before we get into it, so I saw that there was a post. Was it the Barstool Stats account? I don't know who runs that. Speaker 3 (8:37) The YouTube numbers for macro dosing we need to get those up So people listen to the show on iTunes and on Spotify at a much higher clip than they watch it and I'm not saying it's because I'm not beautiful But I think what we should do Maybe is there a way that we can put you guys can tell me as the production part. Can we put the YouTube up before? Speaker 3 (9:06) The the audio because I don't think and it's just like through the course of doing the show we have a shot Speaker 5 (9:11) in the face Oh, Speaker 3 (9:12) really? Well, we have we haven't really pushed the YouTube on this show that much. So We Speaker 2 (9:17) do Speaker 3 (9:18) a better job doing that. Speaker 2 (9:19) Yeah, what if we do a we do a bonus ten a little ten minutes That's only on YouTube. Yeah, Speaker 5 (9:25) like a little like almost patreon ask. I Speaker 3 (9:27) like that bonus ten on YouTube. I like that Speaker 2 (9:30) Yeah. Speaker 3 (9:30) Yeah, we'll put the bonus 10 on there. Speaker 2 (9:32) Maybe voicemails are only on YouTube. Yeah, Speaker 3 (9:34) that sounds good. That sounds good to me. We'll do a little bonus 10 on YouTube. Speaker 2 (9:39) So if you want the end of the show, you've got to go to YouTube. Speaker 3 (9:42) Yeah. So who's going to come get you if we put it up on YouTube first? Speaker 6 (9:47) No, I think, were you talking about people that listen? Yeah. They'll be like, where is it on the audio? We get a lot of, if it's 1201 and it's not up, we get a lot of push the button. Be hearing from them. Speaker 3 (9:58) That's funny. I don't want you guys to get shot in the face. Speaker 6 (10:01) Well, if we're saying it, yeah. Speaker 5 (10:04) If we Speaker 6 (10:04) spell it out here. Well, Speaker 3 (10:05) I'm not saying that we necessarily even push it back that much on audio because people that have made it part of their pattern, I don't Speaker 6 (10:13) want Speaker 3 (10:13) to mess with them. Right. But could it come out earlier on YouTube? Sure. Speaker 6 (10:19) For sure. So if you want to, Speaker 3 (10:20) could you schedule it for like 11 p.m.? Speaker 6 (10:24) We do 11 p.m. Central, so we could do 10 p.m. Central. Speaker 3 (10:28) Yeah, so an hour early. Speaker 6 (10:30) An hour earlier than the audio? We'll just see Speaker 3 (10:31) if that makes any difference whatsoever. Speaker 6 (10:32) Okay, let's do it. Speaker 3 (10:33) Hourly, because we don't want to piss on the people that listen on Spotify, iTunes, whatever the case may be. Speaker 2 (10:42) The Bobby Bones of the world. The Bobby Bones of the world, Speaker 3 (10:44) because that's how I listen to podcasts as well. It's not part of my habit to listen to that much stuff on YouTube. But for a lot of people it is. So we'll give them the option. You can get it first if you don't care which one you listen to it on. And then for everybody that listens to the audio version, that won't change. And it'll come out at the exact same time that it always has. You Speaker 2 (11:04) know, now that I think about it, I have shows that I exclusively will either watch on YouTube or listen to audio. Speaker 3 (11:12) Yeah. Like Speaker 2 (11:13) Pate to me is a YouTube show. I can't fathom listening to that as a podcast. Yeah. But then like... Clat. Speaker 2 (11:22) I've watched him on YouTube. YouTube is more like college football stuff. I do a lot on YouTube and then pretty much everything else I listen to audio. Speaker 3 (11:30) Yeah. And there's some shows here at Barstool that are like way bigger on YouTube than they are on audio. There's some that I think don't even publish on. Speaker 5 (11:40) Those would just be like YouTube shows. Yeah, just Speaker 3 (11:42) the YouTube shows. But this, I think this was always audio first. in terms of, I guess, at least how we talked about it. Speaker 5 (11:51) We used to not put the YouTube up for days after. Speaker 3 (11:54) Yeah, for days afterwards. So let's, yeah, we'll do a bonus 10. How does that sound? Speaker 5 (12:00) I like that. Speaker 3 (12:00) Bonus topic. I don't like doing, I think voicemails should stay. Speaker 5 (12:04) For the people? For the Speaker 3 (12:05) people, yeah. I think we'll do, we'll save one topic, bonus 10. Speaker 6 (12:11) And Speaker 3 (12:11) that will be YouTube exclusive. Speaker 3 (12:15) Fair enough? Speaker 6 (12:16) Okay, we can do that. Speaker 3 (12:17) Sounds good. So, Erin, before we get to your experience in Argentina. Speaker 3 (12:24) This is probably the second most important news of the day behind what happened on NFL Sunday. But there is a suspected outbreak of Speaker 4 (12:32) the pneumonic plague in Russia. I Speaker 3 (12:35) thought Speaker 4 (12:35) you were going to say Jackson Churros walk off. Speaker 3 (12:37) You're right. Okay, let's push back the pneumonic plague discussion. The Milwaukee Brewers are the luckiest team in baseball. They're also very good. They're a very, very good team. Whoa, what? I mean, they've had some great breaks. You need luck to win a World Series. Absolutely. Listen, I know it sounds like... Speaker 4 (12:58) Oh, Speaker 3 (12:58) we won Speaker 4 (12:59) 103 Speaker 3 (12:59) games, bro. Speaker 4 (13:00) I know. It Speaker 3 (13:01) sounds like I'm taking something away from them. I'm not trying to. They're a very good team. It's a Speaker 2 (13:05) compliment. You've got to make your own luck. Speaker 3 (13:06) Yeah, you make your own luck. Those wins would not have happened if they didn't put themselves in a position to win those games. But the ball off the roof on Saturday night... Do we think that ball was going out? I did Speaker 2 (13:22) a deep dive. Every ball this season that was hit at 105 miles an hour with a 49 degree launch angle was not a home run. But I saw that ball, and it was a home run. I'm sure of it. Speaker 3 (13:37) So the one piece, I don't know if you can look this up, but I was talking to Hank about this yesterday, and you use the golf simulator here. Speaker 2 (13:44) Every so often. The Speaker 3 (13:45) big number that you look at, you can have ball speed, you can have launch angle, but you have to know what the backspin rate is. The higher the backspin rate, that takes off 50 yards from a drive sometimes if you have a really nasty backspin rate on it. So unless we know what the backspin rate was on the ball that was hit, I don't think you can actually do a calculation because if it was a low backspin, as hard as he hit that ball, it doesn't matter the launch angle. That could have gone out. Speaker 2 (14:14) It also might have gone foul. Right. It was right down the line. But he hit the shit out of that ball. Yeah. That Speaker 3 (14:20) was like the highest. Well, it's definitely the highest ball that we've ever seen in that ballpark. Why was the roof closed? Speaker 4 (14:26) The great prophet Kanye West. Speaker 4 (14:30) No. Speaker 2 (14:34) He's cutting out. You cut Speaker 3 (14:35) out. Yeah, that could have been anything. Kanye didn't Speaker 2 (14:38) say anything. Speaker 3 (14:38) That could have been anything that you said. We edited that out because we don't know if we can support those views. Yeah, anytime you say, as the great Kanye West said, and then you get bleeped out, you have to assume the worst. It was, I said, I guess we'll never know. Yeah, we won't. Speaker 2 (14:57) Why was the roof closed on a 65 degree fall evening? I had that Speaker 3 (15:01) same question. We looked it up. Apparently the roof closes if at any point during the game or within like three hours of the first pitch, if the temperature would dip below like 65. There's like a dead set temperature. Yeah, it was a great night for open roof baseball. Speaker 2 (15:19) We got to get rid of the roofs. Just to begin with, why are we playing baseball inside? Baseball is better outdoors. I agree. Crazy. Football played inside. I don't care. Baseball, no. Speaker 3 (15:32) Disagree with that, too. Football is also. Yeah, I disagree with that take as well. Football is outside sport. Bulls outside Speaker 4 (15:38) sport. Speaker 3 (15:39) So it was a crazy ending to that game. Ty Francis shot. Can you find the backspin numbers? Do those exist? I'm Speaker 2 (15:47) sure it Speaker 3 (15:47) does somewhere. And then the ending of the game on Sunday night was just as crazy. Jackson Turio is a monster. Speaker 4 (15:58) My God, man. He's the only... As an adult, the only jersey I've bought. Yeah. We're weird. Uh, where'd you guys get him from? Speaker 3 (16:11) I think he was just talking. I don't know how that Speaker 2 (16:12) works. International free agent. Okay, Speaker 3 (16:15) just an international free agent? I think so. I don't know how that works. Okay. Speaker 4 (16:20) I Speaker 2 (16:20) didn't know either. Were you going somewhere with that? It seemed like. No, Speaker 3 (16:24) I was curious. I believe he's Venezuelan. I was curious how Speaker 4 (16:28) that Speaker 3 (16:29) worked, like which scout found him. Speaker 3 (16:33) Because to me, that's still a pretty big mystery in baseball. I don't know enough about that, like how you find the international players, how that works, how they sign to different teams. Speaker 2 (16:45) Yeah, there's a pool of money you have to sign international guys, and I'm not exactly sure how all of it works either. Speaker 3 (16:54) I mean, he's a pretty big part of who becomes good. It's kind of crazy. Speaker 2 (16:58) Like I saw the top 15-year-old right now is expected to sign with the Braves. I don't know how all that works, but they're saying he's unbelievable. The top Speaker 3 (17:07) 15-year Speaker 2 (17:08) -old? I believe he's 15. I saw it this morning. Speaker 3 (17:11) Yeah, I mean, if I ran a Major League Baseball team, I would put all my money in international scouting. Speaker 2 (17:19) Alfredo Sainia. Speaker 2 (17:21) Viewed by many as the top 2027 international prospect. And if there's no draft and the new CBA is expected to sign with the Braves for over $5 million. Oh yeah, that's the other thing. I guess they're talking about doing an international draft now as well. That Speaker 3 (17:34) probably would be the fairest way to do it. Speaker 4 (17:37) How Speaker 3 (17:38) are Speaker 4 (17:38) you feeling about the Braves, man? Good. Speaker 2 (17:40) Yeah, we took a pretty big risk and didn't pitch Chris Sale in game two, and it kind of worked. I am a little upset at the look what a genius Walt Weiss is because they didn't pitch Sale and they won. The whole point was that we needed Sale to pitch twice in this series, and he's still only going to pitch once. Speaker 3 (17:57) Yeah. Now, you have Speaker 2 (17:58) it lined up. You got Sale and Malley at home tied one to one, so that's great. I still would have loved to see Chris Sale last night, but. We'll see what happens. It's a good series. You would Speaker 3 (18:09) take 1-1 as a result? Speaker 2 (18:10) A thousand percent. A thousand percent. Speaker 3 (18:12) Where do you come down on the three-game series, the wildcard series? Speaker 2 (18:18) I hate it. I hate that there are two. I think it should be, if it's going to exist, the three division winners should advance to the divisional series. Yeah. Makes enough sense to me. And then if you want to have two wildcards, they can play in the wildcard series. Yep. and then the fourth one gets to the NLDS. I would agree with that. I think the Braves, who won the NL East by seven or eight games, whatever it was, having to play the team that finished second over 162 games in a three-game series is nuts. I Speaker 3 (18:48) agree with that. And I don't really care for the three-game series just in general because it doesn't feel like a series. There's no rhythm to it whatsoever. It's different than – I mean, five games doesn't really do the same thing for me as a seven-game series. at least it feels like there's a rhythm to it and there's a series. But three games is just, it's not. And whoever wins game one almost always wins the series overall. Speaker 2 (19:13) PFT, back in my day. I Speaker 3 (19:14) wouldn't mind that idea, though. Like, have two wild cards. They play each other. Maybe even one game. Or I guess baseball wants to make some money. No, do the three because the one game sucked also. If you're Speaker 2 (19:25) going to do it, three-game series in one place, the two top wild cards. That's more than enough. Yeah. We don't need all these 86 win teams in the playoffs. Yeah. Enough. Yeah. Speaker 3 (19:37) And then the first place team. Speaker 3 (19:41) The team, the division winner with the best record, they would play the winner of the wildcard series. Correct. Speaker 2 (19:46) Yeah. Then the other two division winners. Back in my day, PFT, you may recall this. It just went straight to the NLDS. There was one wildcard team. And if you weren't that, sorry. You were SOL. Speaker 3 (19:56) Now, what would happen if you made it so that the team that finished, the division winner that finished with the best record, they could pick? Speaker 2 (20:04) I think that's great, too. Who Speaker 3 (20:06) they would want to play? Because there is a case where... maybe the winner of the wildcard series is a better team. Speaker 2 (20:12) That's realistic. So this year the Brewers could have picked either the winner of it would have been Padres and Cubs, right? The Phillies wouldn't have made it. I think so. They finished third. So it would have been Padres and Cubs. Yeah. So Padres, so they
