Speaker 1 (0:01) Welcome to the Love Laura podcast. Join us for all things fashion, fun, girls chats and all the behind the scenes. This is what you will not see on socials. This is getting right behind the brand. Speaker 2 (0:16) We are back for another episode and it's just the two of us this time. So we want to do a full catch up. Autumn is absolutely autumning and I'm here for it. The weather has even had a wee drop in temperature. Slight Speaker 1 (0:29) below today, I'm like, oh. Speaker 2 (0:31) I know, so funny. You're back to the morning being freezing and then the afternoon you're like, oh my goodness. But I'm loving it. The autumn style is incredible and we are getting the best deliveries through. There has been... A few plans that we've been exploring within the HQ. So I want to bring that to everybody's attention too. And just, let's just see what the crack is. Laura, was that a wedding Speaker 1 (0:51) at the weekend? Speaker 2 (0:51) Are you Speaker 1 (0:52) feeling fragile? I'm actually fine now. But weddings, does anybody else feel it? It doesn't matter if you have a hangover or not. I didn't have that bad a hangover. But I was just wrecked. But it was honestly one of the best weddings I was ever at. It genuinely was. It looked amazing. Helen the bride was going to be gorgeous. She's just this wee tiny petite doll, anyway, blonde. Like, she's just gorgeous. So she was always going to be out of this world. Her dress was beautiful. And Deirdre was amazing. I love. So it was Deirdre, my childminder's daughter, Helen, who was getting married. And she was, oh my gosh, she was beautiful. Her hairpiece, I was like, Deirdre, I'm all over this. She wore like a turban, but it was. It looked fab. Oh, it was just so glam. It was Speaker 2 (1:40) beautiful. It was so different. It was lovely. Speaker 1 (1:42) And what was your food like? Like, I've just said to Calvin, he shot weddings at Castle Leslie. I was like, that place is just out of this world. Incredible. Incredible. I Speaker 2 (1:55) love that. Speaker 1 (1:55) I love a good wedding. The flowers. I've never shot flowers like it in my life. I was like, it just, every, there was every touch like. So the castle, when you come in, like there's all these rooms you wander through. Like it's huge. Castle Leslie. Never been to it. And then the room itself is a massive marquee, but it doesn't feel like a marquee. Like it's like it does not feel like a marquee. It's absolutely gorgeous. Like a big checkered floor and everything. Oh, Speaker 2 (2:19) it's really lovely. I love that. Speaker 1 (2:21) Food, drinks, Hugo Spritz. Helen's drink is a Hugo Spritz and they were just flowing. Express and martinis. And yeah, there was fillet steak. on the menu for dinner it was amazing what did you did you Speaker 2 (2:32) have phyllis steak i had the sea bass but i Speaker 1 (2:35) was honestly every time he wasn't looking the guy beside us was like has he had any of that steak i was like no he'll never he'll never even know once he starts drinking he's like okay i don't care if i get food but me on the other hand i'm like pass it over i Speaker 2 (2:48) know it's absolutely beautiful and was the style good Speaker 1 (2:50) style was gorgeous beautiful like lots of longer dresses like oh yeah kind of silk like that very like Not a lot of structure going on at the minute, I don't think. No. You know, Speaker 2 (3:01) like, Speaker 1 (3:01) more Speaker 2 (3:02) like slip style. I, funny, was looking at the weekend, I don't know if I can say this in the podcast, but Orla's wedding. Yes! Speaker 1 (3:09) Gorgeous. Orla does always Speaker 2 (3:10) prize. Speaker 1 (3:10) I Speaker 2 (3:10) knew Speaker 1 (3:10) she would be beautiful as well. Speaker 2 (3:12) Orla is one of those girls that, honestly, I think she is breathtakingly beautiful. So I was so excited to see her at Speaker 1 (3:19) the Speaker 2 (3:19) wedding. She was gorgeous. Her sisters are all beautiful, like fab. But... I feel like I've been waiting for her wedding for so long. I'm like, I can't wait to see this. So she was beautiful and her dress as well was so different, which I think is hard to get. It was class. But a lot of stuff she was sharing. I'm flat out trying to look at all the guests in the background because I think it's so hard. We were talking about this last week. It's Speaker 1 (3:42) so Speaker 2 (3:42) hard to get a wedding outfit that isn't bridesmaidy or different enough or is it too wacky. I think... It's such a hard market to combat. And actually. Speaker 1 (3:54) And September's are funny. Like, yeah. I was going to wear the black bow dress. I love the idea of it. But I literally wear black to weddings all the time. And it felt so wintry. Do you know what I mean? Speaker 2 (4:03) I think it can be very hard. I love our bow dress. I think it's beautiful. But we are getting, in the live last week too, so many people were asking about if we have any occasion we're coming in and like when's our occasion we're dropping. But I think we've touched on it before that it's just not a big winner for us. Speaker 1 (4:18) I find occasion more hard. Like we're every day I would say more than. Yeah. Like every day I'm slightly like outie but not super occasion. Now don't get me wrong we love and appreciate like that bow dress is out of this world sensational. Gorgeous. That would be a one off do you know what I mean? Plus like as everybody said me at the wedding they were like I really wanted to wear something from Love Laura but I didn't know what you were wearing and I was like oh Speaker 2 (4:38) girls this is the stage Speaker 1 (4:39) we're at. But you would be thinking this name yourself if you know what I Speaker 2 (4:42) mean. Well actually we have a beautiful power suit that's coming. for autumn winter it's amazing like a tuck style i'm really looking forward to it and actually this friday night i'm going down with claudia and lynn to the victoria square fashion show yeah and i'm Speaker 1 (4:57) like Speaker 2 (4:57) i would love to wear it down to that yeah Speaker 1 (4:59) i don't know if it was too Speaker 2 (5:00) soon but i do think it'd Speaker 1 (5:01) be Speaker 2 (5:01) fab and even whenever i'm looking on the websites like i am never i go on to my apps like i do instagram when i scroll it um but there's not loads coming through but there is this reoccurring dress i keep seeing on my instagram when you're bound to have seen it laura it's a lime green fringed but it's Bordeaux and it kind of goes up and then the fringing goes the whole way down and it looks sensational. I don't know the original designer. No, I've nothing coming up, but if anybody else did, but Speaker 1 (5:27) that's what I mean. There's a lot of then brands will just sort of go in the back of that. So there'll be similar. So that fringing, fringing is huge, huge for next season. Now I'll tell you where I did try on dresses and I tried on three that I could have worn and had my pick off for the wedding. Um, were once I can never were once loved were were once loved so it's a dress hire place in Newry and I tried three dresses and I am not joking you when I tell you the three of them were sensational out of this world I actually to the point didn't want to give one of them back I was like I actually don't want to give this dress back but Speaker 2 (6:00) they Speaker 1 (6:01) were longer dresses and they just Speaker 2 (6:02) felt too black yeah it wasn't Speaker 1 (6:05) a black tie wedding and again the one the black one I tried was oh my days like for length like just you saw I showed you these photos I was like gorgeous this is gorgeous it was a red one and another black one all three I could have worn and absolutely loved so definitely check out some of those I have had two remember I got it for Speaker 2 (6:24) Yes, Speaker 1 (6:25) you Speaker 2 (6:25) got Speaker 1 (6:25) the Speaker 2 (6:25) awards one, Speaker 1 (6:25) yeah. Speaker 2 (6:25) And Speaker 1 (6:25) then Speaker 2 (6:25) something else. And the Bellamy Ant. There's Speaker 1 (6:27) a Speaker 2 (6:27) Bellamy Ant tonight I got one for. And I love them. They are incredible. So she always does fab stuff. And Jane, that's where she always goes to. Do Speaker 1 (6:34) you Speaker 2 (6:34) see Jane? That's where Jane's skirt was from. Yes. And Jane McDermott. Speaker 1 (6:37) Like, beautiful eye as well. And like loads of the brands that she gave me I'd never even heard of, which I love, if you know what I mean. You can get new ones. So I only tried three dresses because I was like, Trish, don't give me a load of them because honestly I don't, I just didn't know what I wanted. but I voiced my sister I had to obviously leave them back the next day and I was like I Speaker 2 (6:57) don't want to give these back there's one I just Speaker 1 (6:59) like can I just keep Speaker 2 (6:59) this black dress I need to go somewhere have somewhere to wear it to I know so if you are Speaker 1 (7:04) struggling I would definitely try dress hair places because there's some real and Speaker 2 (7:08) I think it's a really a lot of people are going that way now simply because with occasion wear nine times out of ten you do really only wear it once and you spend all that money on it and we have expensive taste when it comes to occasion wear But obviously not everybody wants to pay that too. So it's quite a hard market to do. Speaker 1 (7:23) So I'm just putting this out here now because we're Speaker 2 (7:25) always getting asked. There's a couple of beautiful velvet dresses coming in. We have our Speaker 1 (7:28) tux suits and stuff. Speaker 2 (7:30) But in regards to like occasion wear, that would kind of be all. Like we haven't went too Speaker 1 (7:34) far Speaker 2 (7:35) into it. But Speaker 1 (7:36) there's velvet dresses now. They would be beautiful for Christmas wedding or New Year's. Oh my God, yeah, New Year's wedding. Wouldn't that be class? Speaker 2 (7:42) I know. I feel like I would love to do with the girls for our Christmas night. I would love to do a really dressy night. Yes. I would love to get so dressed up. I really would. But we've had so many fab launches. Last week was probably the first of like a marathon launch week that we had to do a couple of soft launches and hard launches. Let's touch on that Speaker 1 (7:58) actually because I think that's just with the collections getting so big now and also just sometimes with delivery and drop dates, we have no choice, girls. We have to give you what you want. So the collections will, you will start to see them maybe drop as the months go on less frequently, but more in the collections. Speaker 2 (8:15) So Speaker 1 (8:16) we... we as well think like you need choice as well sometimes when we drop every week it's a lot of pressure for you girls as well because you're like I really want that to work with that or whatever but maybe if you got it like twice a month you could actually see the collection as a whole and say right no I don't need every piece but these are the pieces that I love or yeah I do need every piece and before they sell out I'm gonna get them yeah Speaker 2 (8:37) so More so as well from the social element of us trying to plan out, like we try and give you a sneak peek and then we try and do a launch video and then we try and do the styling videos and the amount of stock that's coming in, it is just not possible to do all that without it getting so boring and repetitive. So last week we thought... let's just do a couple of soft launches we were explaining this to Dave and he's like what are you talking about it's like launching a relationship but we done the sweaters we're in midweek the red and the blue which are incredible then we had the big launch of the jumpsuit then we had the Saturday of the carpal jeans which was a soft launch then we had the big one on Sunday and actually I was just loving looking through the orders because there's a lot of you did I noticed quite a few people perhaps waited to Sunday to see the Sunday launch and then went back and got the sweaters or the jumpsuit or the Speaker 1 (9:22) jeans with it. Well, Speaker 2 (9:22) you Speaker 1 (9:22) would Speaker 2 (9:22) do the same yourself. Yeah. I Speaker 1 (9:24) agree though. Plus we did a free shipping weekend so that was brilliant because I always feel sometimes when we do a few launches in a week, it's not fair. If you want to get more than one but you're probably wanting like, you want it now but you don't. want to press shipping twice obviously so that i think it Speaker 2 (9:40) is definitely it Speaker 1 (9:41) makes a lot of sense but Speaker 2 (9:42) we would love to know your feedback on how you felt about it you kind of don't have an option because that's where we're going now and we are also doing like more collection focused as laura had said as well so it's just fab and with things we tend to bring in a couple of like colors in one item so this weekend in particular with the blazers we're launching all three the Speaker 1 (10:02) blazers girls i'm just saying i am just saying
