Speaker 3 (0:02) I'm Coach Mike Basvik, and this is the show for high performers who tried everything else and still can't quiet their own minds. Speaker 3 (0:12) Alright folks, it's Coach Mike Bacevic and welcome to the Life is an Inside Job podcast. And today's something special. Instead of me just talking for 20-25 minutes like I do every week, and obviously you like it because the podcast has really resonated with people, but today I brought in three of our superstars. The people that have gone through the program, that have found the work, applied the work, and they have committed to the work. And they're going to talk about the work today, what it's meant to them to understand what the mind is. how the mind works, and how to bring the mind to peak efficiency. And Speaker 1 (0:45) again, Speaker 3 (0:46) it'll tell you where they were before they had these understandings and where they are now. But also, we want to talk about some of the things that they resonated with and some of our techniques and the tools and things, and maybe when the light bulb went off with them and how life looks now compared to before, now that they have an understanding of how the mind works and their mind is operating. most days at peak efficiency. No one's going to operate every minute of every day at peak efficiency, but we get in the zone every day. So thrilled to have with me today David Nilsson. David owns a company out in California, Accurate Fishing and Accurate Precision Products, I believe. Right, David? Yep. And glad to have David. And he's been a member of our community now for a few years. And his team is actually going through the program, has been for last year, and they're doing remarkable. And we have... Sam and Heather Wiggin from New England, right? New Hampshire, I mean. And Sam, your business is automated building controls? Yeah, Speaker 4 (1:47) building automation and temperature controls. So we install Honeywell, Johnson controls. Great. Speaker 3 (1:53) All right, man. So we'll talk about that. We'll talk about everything else. But great to be with you guys. I'm thrilled that you're here. I'm honored that you're here. And of course, I'm grateful that you're in my community. You know, we've been talking a lot in the episodes, just really trying to bring people's understanding of what the mind is. And it's different than everyone thinks, right? And everyone that comes to us that finds this work says, man, I've had this stuff my whole life. I can get through anxiety, stress, burnout, and I can get to a different place. And they don't believe it. I just spoke to somebody today, you know, we're really busy. pinch hit for one of our team members. I did a breakthrough call today with somebody, wonderful guy from Denver, and he's been struggling his whole life. And I said, any questions? He goes, I'm skeptical. How can you do this? So Sam, let's start with you. I know Heather was skeptical. We'll talk about teaser all the time about this, but Sam, let's start with you and, and, um, level of skepticism or, you know, when you found me, what were your thoughts or you found this work? What were your thoughts? Speaker 4 (2:57) Uh, kind of too good to be true. Like I've told you before, I was in a mode of just scrolling on my phone one night at 11 o'clock at night, wheels running all through wondering about. this and that, and just dune scrolling and your ad popped up. And I was just at a point where I kind of had enough of the anxiety and the worry and the inadequacy and imposter syndrome. And it was just a roller coaster of up and down constantly. And the way your message came across is that it's almost like this guy's talking to me. And so I hit the button in the middle of the night, book your call. And almost forgot about it. And then the next morning I was like, did I, did that, was that a thing? Like, and then I got a follow-up email and then it said, you know, your call is coming up. And then when I got on the phone and it was you, it was like, whoa, wait a minute. This is the actual guy from the ad. This isn't a scam. This is, so I was like, this is good. Let's go. Speaker 3 (4:01) Yeah. Now you jumped right in, even though Heather. When you, you know, we're not going to say how much you spent. It was, you know, you had to take out a second one. I'm teasing you. But when you got home and told Heather that you joined a program from some guy on the Internet, Heather, you weren't too happy with Sam, were you? Speaker 1 (4:17) No, I wasn't actually. And, you know, we, we just, it was one of those busy, busy days. We have a very active son. And it was kind of in the moment where, you know, you have that. that final moment where you just hanging out with each other. And he walked, it was same thing, like 11 at night, he walked out of the bathroom and said, Hey, um, I think I solved my anxiety problem. And it stopped me dead in the track in my tracks on the other side of our bedroom. And I said, What? And he goes, Yeah, this guy on the internet, I I'm gonna, I'm going with him. He really seems like he's gonna solve this. And I literally Speaker 1 (5:03) Almost lost my mind. Speaker 3 (5:05) It was great. You know, it's funny because Sam got on. I remember the call like it was yesterday, even though it was, what, Sam, a year and a half ago? Yeah, Speaker 4 (5:12) at least. Speaker 3 (5:12) And he said, Coach, I heard it, man. My wife Heather gave me the riot act. And I'm all in, man. Let's go. I listened to week one recordings. I get it. And we're going to do this. And you did. And you were all in from the get-go. And Heather, about week four, when you started, what did you start to see in Sam? And how did your opinion change? Speaker 1 (5:32) Sam definitely, when he puts his mind to something, there is absolutely nothing that he can't accomplish. It's just sometimes his mind has 17 tabs open and he can get easily distracted and overwhelmed. Our business is successful and overwhelmingly so sometimes, which is an excellent problem to have. But when you're searching for, you know, a calm and clean approach to things in business, your mind has to be the same way. And Sam started talking about identifying his state of being. And he was listening to you all the time, whether it didn't matter who was in the room. He was embracing this. It was downstairs. It was in his truck. It was when we were traveling. We were going places. And you're like, turn that Speaker 3 (6:30) idiot off. I've had enough of that guy. Well, Speaker 1 (6:32) in the beginning, I'm like, oh my God, here we go with the mic. And then he was really sticking to it. And he was doing it. And he started writing his values down. He started asking me what our family values were. Speaker 1 (6:49) And where we saw ourselves. And these were questions we used to ask ourselves when we were dreaming, like in our, you know, when we were younger and first started dating. And then, you know, we're at the 20 year mark and I'm like, you're, where are we going? I don't know. Where are we going? You know? And so it really just brought a calm to our house that was noticeable. Speaker 3 (7:13) Well, and I remember Sam, you telling me that. early on, like you were, you were, you know, employed by someone else and you thought, you know, I've got the knowledge and the drive to build my own business. And you did from scratch. Right. And, but then as it got bigger, as Heather's saying, it got overwhelming for you. And then you started to even question, like, am I right for this? Right. Is it, you know, there's some inadequacy, imposter syndrome in there. Right. Big Speaker 4 (7:39) time. Absolutely. That it was, it was crippling. Truly. Speaker 3 (7:43) Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, And then we start to doubt ourselves. And I think you said it the one time, and you're a talented guy. I agree with Heather. When Sam puts his mind to something, and he's been, both David, all three of you, have been a joy to work with because you're committed to the work. You value it. It's important to you. But we all doubt ourselves, right? But Sam jumped in. and he's doing it but the mind's going to tell you a different story and in all of our podcast episodes we're trying to teach people that the mind is doing what it's been trained to do so over the years sam you trained your mind like okay i'm only capable of so much and all of a sudden this success starts coming in and you're even crippled by decisions of letting somebody go or hiring somebody right i mean there were some of those decisions that should be somewhat simple you would get crippled by those as well right oh Speaker 4 (8:32) 100 yeah Speaker 3 (8:34) So what was the, and we're going to get to you, David, speaking of someone's wife who pushed back on this work, and Speaker 2 (8:40) has she finished the book yet, David, your wife? Boy, I don't think so, but I do see it next to her bedside, and she's reading it at nighttime when she's not sleeping. Well, she Speaker 3 (8:48) applies what she learns in chapters 9 to 11. She'll be sleeping really well soon, but we had dinner. David, his brother Doug, and myself, and all of our wives, and David's wife, Kristen, she Pinky swore that she was going to read the book, right, David? She did. She did. She Speaker 2 (9:06) did. So hold her Speaker 3 (9:07) accountable. And she's wonderful. They're awesome. But we don't know what we don't know. And Heather didn't know what Sam was learning. And then once Heather saw it, Heather's like, I'm in. And Heather jumped in. And Sam, what was the, well, let's get to David first. I want to ask you like your biggest takeaway, like the aha moment with the work. But David, what brought you to the community? Where were you? at that time internally, mentally, emotionally stuff, and what drove you to sort of reach out for help? Speaker 2 (9:35) Yeah, it resonated with a lot of stuff that Sam was saying. Speaker 2 (9:39) You know, all the business stuff we've been doing in business life, you know, like I keep you keep piling it on. And I think you get you keep going and getting bigger and bigger. And then, yeah, then you turn around at some point and you look
