And it's going to be good. It's going to answer all your questions. Why you're struggling, why you don't have the results you want, why don't you have the relationships you want. Anything that's missing in your life, it's because of this one thing. And I'm going to explain it to you here, and I'm also going to tell you how to get rid of it. Speaker 1 (0:26) I'm Coach Mike Baskervik, and this is the show for high performers who tried everything else and still can't quiet their own minds. Speaker 1 (0:35) As always, this is your host, Coach Mike Basavik on the Life is an Inside Job podcast. In addition to this, I'm the founder and creator of the Anxiety-Free Executive as part of my No Limits Nation. And for 18 years, I've been helping people, successful, driven, motivated people who want to live their best life, eliminate anything getting in the way, anxiety, stress. overwhelm, pressure, imposter syndrome, fear, excessive worry, even depression. We get rid of it. We don't distract it. We don't get into a new mindset, right? The ridiculousness of the mindset world. We change the mind, transform the mind, and then we transform lives. And I've been doing that for 18 years. And I'm the author of this amazing book, The Broken Sage. Okay. If you haven't gotten your copy of The Broken Sage yet, go to www. Speaker 1 (1:26) TheBrokenSage.com. Folks, it's the greatest, it's been called the greatest self-help book of our generation. And I've called it that. So by me, I've called it the greatest self-help book of our generation. But it is an amazing book. And people, it's really connecting with people because I tell my story. in this book of what you know how my life collapsed as a young adult and and then what i had to learn and what i had to to do in order to turn my life around and then i've taught people this formula that i lay out in the book um and i've taught it for the last 18 years but i laid out on the book so the the best compliment i can get for this book is that people are buying it and then they're coming back to buy 10 20 copies for friends family colleagues you know we can't keep the book I've just ordered a whole bunch for our team so we can distribute it, but it's flying off the shelves on Amazon. I don't know if it's Amazon, it's just shelves. But anyway, let's get into today's episode, but you've got to get a copy of The Broken Sage. I'm telling you guys, you're going to love it. So who wouldn't want the secrets of human behavior, right? All right, let's get into today's episode. So the one thing, the one thing that is keeping you from... having the perfect life you want, fulfillment, happiness, success, wealth, abundance, freedom, great relationships is resistance, emotional resistance. Now, you've heard me talk about that on some other episodes. I talked about acceptance and things. But today's episode, I want to focus on resistance and really give you a really good understanding of what resistance is and how it impacts your life. OK, so first things first, what's resistance? Resistance is any emotion that doesn't feel good. Now, there's no positive. There's no negative emotions. I hear all these gurus, right? And the gurus out there, man, the mindset people, the positive thinking folks, right? Come on, guys. There's so much more to this story. And you've got to learn it. You've got to know it. Learn it from me. And it's stealing my shit. I don't care. Well, I do. But just give me credit for it, man. Speaker 1 (3:30) Emotional resistance is any emotion that doesn't feel good, but there's no negative emotion, man. So if you're a high-performing executive business owner, salesperson, and you lose a deal, you're going to experience emotions that don't feel good. Failure, pressure, disappointment, even anger or rage. You will feel those emotions. If you ever go to a wake and a funeral, you don't go laughing and high-fiving. You go solemn, sad. respectful, compassionate, empathetic. Those are all emotions that don't particularly feel good, but they're still appropriate. You don't tell the family that's grieving, ah, come on, you've got other family members, be happy. No, right? You tell them, you're in my thoughts and you're in my prayers. If you've ever gotten dumped, yes, I've gotten dumped before and I've been cheated on before. And thank God. Right because it led me to all of this it led me to my beautiful wife and my great relationship But it wouldn't happen if I didn't get cheated on right so but it stings man It sucks. You ever been dumped like you tell your friend. Yeah, I got dumped last night They don't say that's okay. There's other people. I'm sorry man. What can I do for you? I'm here for you if you need me those are emotions that are all normal So there's no negative emotion plus think about it. How can we have? Happiness if we didn't have the contrast of sadness if we didn't feel sadness then how could we feel happiness? We have to have a yin and a yang. You have to have contrast. And you've got to start embracing the concept that every emotion is normal and necessary. Now, it's okay to experience an emotion. If you lose that sales deal, you're going to be pissed. It's okay to be pissed. You go into a losing team's locker room after a big game. You think they're going to be happy? If they are, they've got no heart. They're not competitors, man. They better care. It better burn. It better sting. Okay, when I used to coach sports, man, if my athletes didn't hate losing, it would piss me off real good. So you go in that losing team's locker room, they're going to be down in the dumps, angry, frustrated, disappointed, dejected. You go to the winning team's locker room, they're going to be happy. Those are all appropriate emotions, right, for the situation at hand. So it's okay to experience those emotions, but when you experience them ad nauseum or in perpetuity, not in nauseum, but in perpetuity every day, that's when the mind learns and that's when you build this resistance I'm talking about. So anything that we deal with in life or we experience in life. If it's a traumatic event or it's a pattern of resistant behavior, if you will, and I'll give you some examples here. I'm going to really try to make sure you understand this today. But it builds emotional resistance. It builds the pattern. It builds the habit. And this resistance is stored. Now, I'm not sure how it's stored in your cells, molecules, atoms, fibers, in your subconscious, but it is. And every one of my private clients that comes into our program, Is in deep resistance right fear anxiety pressure overwhelm imposter syndrome, which is insecurity Anything that doesn't feel good is resistance. They're in deep resistance and the first thing that 100 % of my clients tell me When they start doing what we teach and within a couple of weeks I'll literally say how do you feel? I don't I don't guide them on this answer and they say I feel lighter Why how can you feel lighter? Because they're clearing this emotional resistance and that's the key to life guys. This is the key to everything You have to clear this emotional resistance that builds up and you're you're a unicorn if you haven't experienced emotional resistance You're a unicorn the only person that I've ever seen that hasn't had emotional resistance is Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in Twins. He was raised on an island. Everything was great. But then throughout the movie, he experienced some resistance, right? But he was just bred to be happy and perfect. But he had some resistance even about relationships, now that I think about it. But it's a foregone, guaranteed conclusion that you are going to build resistance in your life. And I'm going to explain to you exactly how that is. But as resistance builds, it gets heavier and heavier and heavier. And it is stored. In your mind and your mind body, there's no difference. So the way I look at the mind, it's the body. The body is the mind. There's no separation. So it's stored. And if you've got an unhealthy environment, let's say your cells, right? We've got trillions of cells and these cells are all receptors. So it's got to be stored in there. And if you think about it, like people, the body regenerates cells all the time. And but if cells keep coming into an unhealthy environment, they're going to just adapt to that environment. So as I get my clients healthier and healthier, right, emotionally and clear this resistance that's built up, then their health starts to turn around. They start to feel better. I remember, you know, 20 something years ago when my kids were really young, going to Disney World, maybe 21, 22 years ago, and I was filled with resistance in life and I didn't know it. And I remember I was
