Speaker 2 (0:02) I'm Coach Mike Basvik, and this is the show for high performers who tried everything else and still can't quiet their own minds. Speaker 2 (0:11) Hi folks, it's Coach Mike Basfick and welcome to the latest episode of Life is an Inside Job. I hope you've been enjoying this and if you have, make sure you hit the like button, hit the share button and leave a review, only if it's five-star. If you don't like it, then don't leave a review. We want five-star reviews only, but it's great to be with you today. We've got something special today. We've got three people who are in my community, have gone through the program. They're actually in my inner circle and have been for some time now. And the inner circle is our mastermind. And they're here to share their experiences, but also to talk about the mind, their understanding of the mind now compared to before, and maybe some of the things that resonated with them as they came through our program and in our community. And I always tell you, you know, who am I and why should you listen to me? Well, I'm Coach Mike Basvik, and I have helped people for the last 18 years. transform their mind, which transforms their life. But I brought three people here to tell you why you should listen to me and what it's meant to them. So I'd like to welcome Darren Karp, Cindy Greenfield, and Barry Freeman. Welcome, guys. It's good to be with you. Speaker 1 (1:16) Hey. Speaker 2 (1:17) Yeah, thank you. Yeah. Good Speaker 1 (1:19) to Speaker 2 (1:19) see you. So let's start with you, Darren. So just tell people real quick who you are and what you do at your company. I know what the company is, but you tell folks what you do. Speaker 4 (1:28) Sure, sure. My name is Darren Karp. I have a couple of companies. The biggest one that we focus mainly around is Reloquest. And Reloquest is an enterprise software used for searching and booking corporate housing around the world. Speaker 2 (1:42) Which I never knew existed. I knew about Airbnb. And when I met Darren and he said, this is what I do. I'm like, I didn't know that that was an industry. And it's a big industry and you've done a great job. And I was like, well, how did somebody even come up with that idea? But it's a great idea. So, Cindy. Or Midland. Now, I always tell Cindy that I watch Landman and is the cartel and are there, you know, and she won't tell me the truth about that, but she's in the middle. Hi, Cindy. Tell folks who you are, what you do, and start there. Speaker 1 (2:17) Okay. So I'm from Midland. I'm a physical therapist, and I've been in private practice for over 30 years and have some real estate and another business called the Float Spa of Midland, so sort of a health care type business for wellness. And in my experience with... What you have taught me has really helped me get through a lot of those three items that affect my life dearly. We're going to Speaker 2 (2:48) talk about that. And the Float Spy, see your ads. And I want to come there. Are you guys doing red light therapy yet? Speaker 1 (2:54) Not yet, but we're looking into it. Speaker 2 (2:56) You need to. That's the, you know, I actually joined a spa in the Chicago area. that does red light therapy. I'm trying to just look younger, and I'm aging quickly, so I'm just trying to take the years back now. It's just everything I've read and watched about red light therapy, it's great. And then last but not least, we have Barry Freeman, fellow Chicagoland person, but you're not from Chicago like I am, Barry, because he's a Viking fan. But Barry, welcome. Tell folks what you do. Speaker 3 (3:23) Yeah, thanks, Mike. I moved south from Minneapolis to Chicago for the warmer winters, and I'm delighted to be here now for 26 years. But yeah, I'm Barry Freeman, and I am in investment banking. I'm a healthcare mergers and acquisitions banker. I work with business owners in the healthcare services area in selling their businesses or raising capital. And so have worked with a number of business owners, private equity funds, institutional investors in selling businesses over the years. And I've also been a private equity investor as well. So have kind of sat on both sides of Speaker 2 (3:57) the Speaker 3 (3:57) table. Speaker 2 (3:58) Yeah, and that's stuff I know nothing about. But good thing for Barry, I knew about the mine so that I can unleash the beast inside of him, and boy, has he unleashed it. So, all right, great to have all of you. Thank you for giving me the gift of your time to share your stories and insights with our community here. So, Barry, let's stick with you, and then we'll go to everyone else. But tell us where you were when you came in the program. Internally, maybe the results you were getting. and why you sought the help. Speaker 3 (4:28) Yeah, it was one of those things, there are no accidents in life, and it was kind of the gap between Christmas and New Year's late in 2020. before it would have been. And I was just, I was in a bad spot. I was in a bad spot in my mind. I was in a great spot, but I just, you know, my mind was convincing me that I was in a bad spot. And I was thinking that I was in a bad spot because I had a string of things going on in my business that weren't going well. And I turned that into a story about I wasn't a good person or that I wasn't, you know, somehow capable. And so one night while I was... scrolling my Instagram feed, I came across your ad and it spoke right to me. And so I think I, I jumped on the email right that minute and shot off an email and then was soon talking to members of your team within, you know, half a day of that and, and joining the program. And it's been an absolute, I'll call it miracle, even though it's not a miracle. It's all very logical. It all makes sense once you understand how the mind works. But But through the interactions with you and your team and the other members of the group, you know, I've just completely affected a turnaround, both in not just how I think and feel about myself, but just how I even conduct myself and how energetically I'm showing up every day. And so it's the retraining of the mind that's been the key over the last, you know, call it year and a half. Speaker 2 (5:53) Love it. And you've crushed it. And all, you know, most of our. community jumps in and they put the work in, man. Understanding something like we teach here on the podcast or in the book, The Broken Sage, or in our private program, it's great knowledge. It's what I had to learn. As you guys know, I was a shit show before I learned these principles, but the application of it is everything. And all three of you have been, you know, beasts applying this work. And Barry, you said you had a string of losses in business. You started to question your confidence. We call that imposter syndrome. You start questioning your value, your self-worth, your ability, even if you belong at the table anymore. And that's pretty much where you were. But you jumped in. You did the work. Wasn't easy at times, right? Never is. But you mastered it. And I know you've had tremendous amount of financial wins. But where are you today? And also... You know, you have to touch on the weight loss because as we start to shut down what we call resistance, the body shuts down, the mind shuts down and we stop taking care of ourselves and and either weight gain, weight loss or just we stop our hobbies. So tell folks where you're at now compared to then with with the application of these principles that we teach here. Speaker 3 (7:11) I mean, look, I would say I didn't just wake up one day and kind of find myself in a sticky circumstance. It was the culmination of probably a couple of years worth of just. constant negative reinforcement in my own mind. And as part of that, you know, my business performance started to slow down, but then also my physical health was starting to suffer and I had gained a lot of weight. I think I had reached as high as 350 pounds, believe it or not, at the time that, you know, I probably started on the program. That was probably where I was operating at. And, you know, since that time, not only have I, you know, completely really turned around sort of the business performance and I've been having massive sort of wins and successes on the work front. But on the personal front, you know, my relationships at home are stronger. My relationship with myself is stronger. And maybe the most important manifestation of that is I've lost 110 pounds over the course of the last 13 months because my, my, my, my, you know, my, my, my, my, my state of being is now one of acceptance and one where it's, you know, I'm not, focused on critical. I'm focused on, you know, a vision for myself where, you know, there's prosperity, there's health, there's wealth, there's, you know, wonderful things to be living for. So, you know, all that just follows. Speaker 2 (8:34) What's great. You know, I love that. Congrats again on 100. Every time you say that, I love it. And I don't think you're done yet. You said you want more, right? You look great, by the way, but you want even more, huh? Speaker 3 (8:44) Yeah, my 55th birthday is coming up on February the 3rd. And so I'm going to be 200 pounds before I reach my 55th birthday. You're Speaker 2 (8:56) going Speaker 3 (8:56) to have to run Speaker 2 (8:57) around in the shower to get wet. Your wife's going to be like, where is he? I'm going to see him. And congrats, buddy. And the beauty of this work is you're working with the same company, and I know that the wins you've had in your career have been epic. I mean, unbelievable the stuff that you've accomplished. the weight loss, the family, better dad, better husband. But when you first started the program, I used to get Voxers weekly. I didn't close this deal, questioning your ability. I don't get those anymore. I get, had this win, had this outcome, had that. And then you've got a tremendous sense of humor too, so we usually get the funny Barry in the Voxer chat or the insightful Barry. And you're a different human being, but everything's still the same. Same wife. Same kids, same house, same career. And when you change the mind, everything external starts to catch up. And I love it, man. So congratulations. Darren, over to you. So what brought you in, Darren? Where were you? And maybe where are you now? Yeah, no. And by the way, let me stop you real quick. Sure. Because I saw you in person, what, in the spring a couple of times. You are jacked right now. I did like how much body fat have you lost? And I know you are literally jacked. You were in good shape before. Speaker 4 (10:23) I don't know. It's just a lot of walking. Now I'm down to 18%. So when you saw me, I was almost at 30 % and now I'm down to 18%. So like Barry, I got a Barry bite before October, I'll be down another 10 pounds. So that's, that's my shame. Speaker 2 (10:36) I got to step it up. I got to step it up. So God, Darren, sorry, man, but I'm just going to count here. Speaker 4 (10:42) Look, it's been, it's been a great journey. I think, let me just go back for, for a while. So I think that, you know, for me, things started to shift and change. going the wrong way right when COVID happened. Our business was doing amazing and then COVID happened. We're in the travel industry, so no secret what happened to the travel industry once COVID happened. And so when you're building this company and things every day, you're going to work and it's amazing, that's great. You're winning accounts and left, you couldn't do anything wrong. COVID happens and it basically takes your legs right out from underneath you. And I would say that's the beginning of the journey because then
