Speaker 1 (0:00) On today's episode, guys, we're going to talk about the meaning of the name of this podcast. Life is an inside job. What does that really mean? A lot of gurus, right? You hear them talking about that life's inside job, but what does it really mean? I'm going to tell you what it means today and the importance that you master it in your life. I'm coach Mike Basvik, and this is the show for high performers who tried everything else and still can't quiet their own minds. Speaker 1 (0:28) So who am I and why should you listen to me? As always, I'm Coach Mike Basavick, founder and creator of No Limits Nation and the Anxiety-Free Executive Program and the Anxiety-Free Student Program. And every day of my life for the last 18 years, I've helped successful, driven, high performers at any age reach their full potential while eliminating anything getting in the way, the emotional resistance we talk about on these episodes, right? The anxiety, the stress, the overwhelm. Speaker 1 (0:55) imposter syndrome, right? Insecurity, inadequacy, fears, low confidence, lonely, whatever it is that you're dealing with, we get rid of it. We don't manage it. We don't drug it up. They call them medicines. They're drugs, man. Prescription drugs, garbage, crap. We don't drug people up. We get rid of it. We get the mind healthy and we get them off that garbage, right? So they can live the life they're destined to live. So let's talk about today's subject, right? Life is an inside job. What does that mean? So if we go back. you know, 19, 20 years or so in my life. And I talk about this in my book, ah, The Broken Sage, right? Here we go. The Broken Sage, right? Great book, terrific book. Everybody's loving it. And I'm proud to say I'm loving it, but it's my story. Speaker 1 (1:36) and where I was 20 years ago. But what I learned and what I teach now is also outlined in the book. It's all the stuff that I give my private clients. But let's say 20 years ago, I lived a life and I had early success in my life. I was a young, driven, successful entrepreneur and never felt settled inside, man. Never felt peace, never felt calm, always worried, catastrophizing fear. waiting for the other shoe to drop. While I was creating the success of my life, I never felt like I belonged, right? You've heard me say that before. And I just was always on edge. A lot of conflict, a lot of chaos, a lot of combative stuff going on in my life. So while I built the success, I ended up losing it all. And... Speaker 1 (2:23) But to that point, my inner world was just an absolute mess. And we talk about the state of being here, right? You've heard me talk about it many times on these episodes and how the state of being is always... showing itself to you through the thoughts you're having, the feelings you're feeling, and the actions or inactions, right, the experiences you're having. And the state of being is always driving your behavior. Well, in order to change my life, I learned these concepts and principles, and I had to change my mind. Anyone, the first thing I tell people, if you want to transform your life, you've got to transform your mind. That's why life is an inside job, but more importantly, which I'm going to get to in a minute. We really got to master the mind. So I was in complete hell and I was constantly putting out fires in my life. You can relate. Speaker 1 (3:10) Not only like conflict, you know, my marriage imploded. So I was going through a divorce. My business failed. I was left in debt. So I was dealing with all that crap, the phone calls, the trying to survive every day, man. And if you read The Broken Sage, you'll see how low I got. But then when I started to learn what I teach now, I realized, man, life's an inside job. And it was me. Speaker 1 (3:36) the entire time. So all of these principles and concepts I learned about the subconscious and how we become what we become, it all made sense to me. Like my life was successful because I was a hard worker. I believed in myself and I did have a lot of talent, right? Back in the day, like any industry I went to, like when I was with Hyatt, I got a manager of the year award, right? When I was in the recruiting industry, I owned my own firm within two years. I was training people within six months of me being in the industry. You know, I was a smart guy and I was an intelligent guy, but Speaker 1 (4:05) always stepping over myself, tripping over myself, self-sabotaging my success. I was a master at screwing my life up, man. I really was. And then when everything imploded, I'm like, okay, well, poor me. You know, look what happened to me. I'm a good guy, and why am I doing all this shit? Why am I doing all this garbage? It had nothing to do with, you know, luck, bad luck, good luck, because I was in emotional resistance. I trained my mind to be in chaos, and my mind was literally... My life was playing out as a byproduct of everything I trained my mind to be. So when I realized this, I had this like, number one, I was pissed. I was like, why did anybody teach me this shit? Why did I have to suffer? But then I get excited because I'm like, yeah, it all makes sense. If this, if it all played out, like it made sense why I struggled because that's what I always believed life to be. Speaker 1 (4:57) You know, the paradigms, we're going to talk about the paradigms on an episode coming up too, but all the beliefs that I held, all the paradigms, the states of being that I move around in every day were playing out in my life. So I got pretty excited about it. Now, I didn't have the map. Like I teach my clients in the book and in my program and hopefully here on these episodes. But I didn't have the roadmap to get to that life I wanted, but I was really excited about it because I thought, man, if everything that I've been up to this point has created a life that I live, then imagine where I could take it now. And I had to learn the system, right? And all the self-help stuff out there, they're a piece of the puzzle. A lot of them are amazing, really good people doing good things. A lot of these gurus, they shouldn't be gurus, man. Speaker 1 (5:38) And I've ruined, I hate the term life coach. I don't like it. And I hate
