We'll tell you more throughout the podcast, but a huge thank you to Diane Marshall and all of the team tuning in with you this week. We're back with Robin Langton of Love Island. So just to remind you of last week, we spoke about your journey, how you made it there, how you set up an application form. And within probably 12... hours you've got a call coming through saying we want you in the unpredictability and the unknown behind the scenes gossip of love island has got me going so tell me this we'll start with a big question let's go have you ever had a moment where you've regretted going on reality tv Speaker 3 (1:35) I am one to say I never regret anything I've done ever in my life. Live life to no regrets. Everything is a lesson. Speaker 2 (1:40) Yeah. I Speaker 3 (1:41) wouldn't say I've regretted it. There's been times where I've thought, am I made for this? This is a lot. But I do know, obviously, the show's fresh. Like, it's going to be hectic. I understand that. But no, Speaker 2 (1:52) I wouldn't say I've regretted it. How's it tested you then? Maybe just in day-to-day life or even during filming. Can you think of any moments when it really tested you and you've gone... Because we all have those moments. You could be working in reality and there's moments where you go, I don't belong here, I don't want to be here. Someone will test your patience or something will put you through your paces. It's life. Give us yours. Speaker 3 (2:12) I think in terms of the filming, I was fine with the filming because... Most of my life, I've done pantomimes, I've done dancing, I've always been... A performer at heart. I've always been a performer at heart. The filming wasn't bad for me. I think the one thing which I feel like it's not spoke about enough... I've never been an influencer. Some of these people that were going on this show, I've already done this for years. Like, they're big on Instagram. Don't get me wrong, I've done DJing, so I've done socials, but nowhere near as what I'm doing now. And I think what people don't talk about enough is the guidance you get afterwards you come off the show. So I think... Coming out and adapting to this life, walking down the chippy and someone shouting your name. Like, I've never walked down the chippy in my life and had my name shouted. Speaker 2 (2:52) So, is it not? Is it not a thing where you come out, we go, right, you're going into a week's worth of counselling here, you're going to go and speak to this person? So, Speaker 3 (2:59) yeah, there's counselling. That's just for you, for your mental health. So, what does that involve? You just sit with a person and tell them? I never talk it up. Speaker 2 (3:06) Okay. Speaker 3 (3:06) Because my mental health's been okay. So, I don't feel like I've needed to take them off. Do you think more training? Speaker 2 (3:13) It Speaker 3 (3:13) should have been like, Speaker 2 (3:14) right, let's give you a little boot camp of life after Love Island. Speaker 3 (3:18) So you get like your after packs when you're talking like a few pages. So you get an after pack of maybe like social media guidelines and stuff like that and what maybe not to post. Now, obviously, all eyes are on you and stuff. But if you like just even adapting to going out and being noticed all the time, that moment of getting your phone back and the amount of messages off brands and companies and emails off people and... I've never dealt with that before so what am I replying to these people? What fears am I charging these people? When you find in your management, thank God, I found the most amazing management now anyway. We're just all finding management. What do you look for? Everyone sells you the dream. Yeah. Like, how much percentage have you taken? No one goes into depth about this. And it would be Speaker 2 (4:03) so easy to come out and be exploited if you wasn't savvy and you didn't know. A million percent. I've been in this industry since I was 10 years old and I'm still learning. I'm 45 and I am still learning because people will outfox you at the drop of a hat. A million percent. You've got to be on your guard. You've got to question and second guess. That's a full-time job. That's hard. It does change. who you are because you have to smarten Speaker 3 (4:25) up yeah and i think with me i think i had a little bit of an upper hand in terms of like contracts and stuff i was a qs i'm working on my contracts every day i know what i know what like i know what to look for not stupid in terms of contracts but it's like how do you know that this is going to be the right decision how do you know whether you're signing to a year contract yeah how do you know whether you do three months do you do one month Speaker 2 (4:47) How Speaker 3 (4:48) are we meant to figure that out when we've never been? I know someone, obviously I'm not going to say, but I know someone off the show who literally didn't even read the contract before signing it. How? But then that's who was because I'm contractual and know that you've got to sign contracts and you've got to read them. But to some it's just, well, they know what they're talking Speaker 2 (5:07) about. Or they read it. And a lot of the time I read them and I have to give them to someone else. Exactly. Because I'm like, I don't understand what that language means. I feel like that could be a loophole. Yeah, Speaker 3 (5:16) but then the manager's saying, oh, it's fine, we'll do
