Speaker 3 (0:00) This is an iHeart Speaker 2 (0:00) podcast, guaranteed human. Hi, and welcome to the iGirl podcast. I am here with Clark, the queen, Clark. We're so excited to have her. So we're going to dive in a little bit. Tell me what you were like growing up and what you kind of imagined your life was going to be like. I'd say like Speaker 3 (0:20) growing up, I was extremely talkative like I am now. Hey, but I grew up like in a very loving. stable, healthy home, which I'm extremely grateful for. But I think that played a lot into who I am today. Like I'm just super positive and loving and I care about the people that are like around me. I cheered my whole life. And yeah, I think that's pretty much. What did you think you Speaker 2 (0:49) were going Speaker 3 (0:49) to do? What was your dream career? Let me tell you, I had no idea. I wanted to do like psychology as I got like in high school. I was super interested in psychology, but I wasn't too much focused on what I would end up doing because I'm the type of person that wants to do so many things. So it's hard to pick sometimes. But I knew deep down in my heart, like my dad, he's like, where do you see yourself in five years when I'm in high school? I'm like, I don't know, like in a. penthouse, nice apartment, living lavish, not wanting for anything. And what I envisioned at that time is like what I'm living now. Manifestation. Manifestation. It's so amazing. So, yeah. I love it. What drew you to psychology? I feel like I love to pick people's brains and I would meet a lot of people. In like middle school and high school. And then I would get to know their environment and like their parents. I would see their parents and I'm like, OK, that's why you act this way. Because your mom acts this way or your dad says this and acts like this. So I was super interested in why people acted and were the way that they are or are the way that they are. And I wanted to know, like the thought process of, you know, picking people's brain and why is this person like this? So I think that. That thought Speaker 2 (2:07) that I had, like, started everything. That's such an interesting and, like, empathetic perspective. You're like, I want to know why you are the way you are. I don't just want to know who you are. I want to understand it. For sure. I love that. I think if more people did that, we'd be further along in Speaker 3 (2:22) the Speaker 2 (2:22) world. We would Speaker 3 (2:22) be. Speaker 2 (2:22) We would be further along. Since being in the public eye, do you feel like people really have gotten to know you? Or do you feel like maybe you're a little misunderstood? I think Speaker 3 (2:32) that. Definitely still misunderstood. And I think that a lot of people in the public eye are misunderstood. And I think that, you know, as much as we try our best to share and I think people are getting to know me more with what I'm sharing. I'm trying to be a little more open, but still at the end of the day, like they don't know us the way that our friends and family do. They don't see every side. So I'm trying to be better with that and show like show up online. authentically and genuinely. But people that meet me, they of course, they know best, you know? Speaker 2 (3:06) Yeah, I do feel like it's hard with just like that parasocial relationship. People feeling like your friend, but it's like they don't really get the benefit of knowing you in real life or how you would portray yourself without any outside perspective or leading. And so I feel like that's really challenging. What is something that all of this has maybe taught you about yourself that you didn't know five years ago? Speaker 3 (3:31) Honestly, I don't think I've learned anything new. I think that I've been reminding myself of things that like, for example, before going on the show, I got to a place where I was extremely confident and I was feeling good about myself in every aspect. And then coming off, I was more in a low space. So it's just reminding myself of the things that I knew before, but not necessarily anything new. Speaker 3 (3:58) Within more so. I mean, of course, I'm learning new things like what an exclusive versus non-exclusive. Yeah. All Speaker 2 (4:03) that type of stuff. But like within. No. Speaker 3 (4:06) OK, that's really Speaker 2 (4:07) interesting. And I like that you said that you struggled with your confidence. I also feel like as I've gotten more public, it's really hard. You can be the most confident person in the world. And all of a sudden you're like. Wait, I'm kind of second guessing. I'm like, yes, am I cool and hot as I think I am? Or are all these people really cool and hot? Yeah, yeah, yes. Yeah, it is. It is really, really hard. How have you learned to handle the criticism from people who completely don't know you? Speaker 3 (4:37) Um, I think like if it's coming from a negative place, I tend to ignore it. Like if it's just super disgusting and nasty, then I'll just be like, OK, come on now. Let's be real. I'll check your page. You commented something nasty, but your bio says God fearing. Always. OK, I'm going to ignore it. It's always Speaker 2 (4:54) God fearing or their kids names with a heart or their husband. And I'm like, if you were getting paid to do this, Speaker 3 (5:01) right, I wouldn't be mad at you. Right. I would let it stay and I would just be like, she can pay and I'm not mad. I'm Speaker 2 (5:06) literally like, Speaker 3 (5:07) you're Speaker 2 (5:07) angry. Yes. You are. I see the every time it's like some or like give be the love you want to see in the world. Are you the love you want to see in this world? I feel like you're not. Because I think people forget to look at public figures as people. Speaker 3 (5:23) Yes. And it's like. Of Speaker 2 (5:25) course, my confidence gets shaken. Of course. I think people think like, oh, if you post a picture of yourself, you must be so confident. Or if you go on TV, you must be so confident. And it's like, Speaker 3 (5:33) no, not really. It's just Speaker 2 (5:36) you kind of do what you have to do. You do it in spite of it, not because you're the most confident person in the world. You do it. In spite of feeling like feeling your self-esteem being shaken and all of that. What advice would you give to women who are struggling with confidence and feeling capable? I Speaker 3 (5:51) would say like before I went on the show and I think as women, we tend to compare ourselves and be less confident in ourselves when we're seeing things online. Speaker 3 (6:02) So for me, like if I felt like, you know, this page isn't making me feel good about myself, I'm going to unfollow. So like cleaning up my social media, following more like content creators and people that pour into their supporters. So making sure that I follow pages like that, I think affirmations and self-care, taking care of yourself so you feel good on the outside as well. I think that's extremely important. What Speaker 2 (6:28) are some of the most important self Speaker 3 (6:30) -care things that you do? I think like a routine. So I like I have this app where I wake up in the morning every day at 9 a.m. And in order for me to turn my alarm off, I have to take a picture of a scripture in the Bible. It tells me a different scripture every day. So I'm like, OK, love that. And then, you know, I shower. You take care of yourself, whether that's Pilates, yoga, like getting up and not bedriding. You know, if you want to get your nails done, OK, go get your nails done, get your hair done. I think like doing high maintenance things throughout the month so that you don't have to be high maintenance during the day. Every day is something that I love. So like I'll get my brows tinted and like my lashes done. So I wake up. I don't really wear makeup unless it's for like. You know, something I want to look cute for. But Speaker 2 (7:17) I Speaker 3 (7:18) think all of those things on top of each other make such a big difference. I Speaker 2 (7:23) think that's wonderful advice. And I think the way you start your day is so humongous. Cleaning your space. Yeah. I saw this Speaker 3 (7:30) thing online where it's like, OK, if your living room is dirty, then you have a cluttered. mind in this space or like you this this part of your life is cluttered. And I was like, oh, they're eating me up. I'm like, I got boxes. I'm trying to move in my little room. This is how I feel in real life. So having a clean space when you come home, like you don't want to walk through your door and see that your living Speaker 2 (7:54) room is cluttered, Speaker 3 (7:55) you know, so. Speaker 2 (7:56) And just reminding yourself to live in your life, not to live on the Internet. Like your daily life, the way you wake up in the morning is something nobody's going to see. But that's your life. Going to get your lashes done is for you. It is taking time for your life. Cleaning your living room is taking time for your life. Maybe people on the Internet will never see that your living room is messy, but you will feel better. And I think so we get I get asked the most about like confidence. So many girls that listen are always like, I want to talk about confidence. I want to talk about feeling capable. I want to I want to know. how these it girls feel so good. And it's like those little tasks. They mean so much. Don't Speaker 3 (8:31) sit Speaker 2 (8:31) on the Internet and look at other people. What do you need to do in your life, in your real world to make yourself feel better? And then you can go sit online and compare. Forget Speaker 3 (8:42) about what you're showing up as on social media. What are you showing up as in real life? And what are you doing for yourself? Like show up for yourself. So I love that. Speaker 2 (8:53) I love that. What makes you feel the most confident? Speaker 3 (8:56) I think like to our point, like having a clean space, making sure that I'm productive. Like if I tell myself that I'm going to do something or want to do something, I want to make sure I get that done for me. Keeping up with self-care. I think when I feel good internally, then externally it makes me feel a lot better. I agree. What makes you feel the least confident? Speaker 3 (9:20) I think like the opposite of all those things, like coming to the house and not having a clean space and not being productive, not holding myself accountable. Like I'm like, I got to get my life together.
