Speaker 3 (0:00) Coming up on today's show, we finally meet a real-life Canadian. Speaker 4 (0:03) Yay! We hear another one of your trade secrets. And discover he has quite a beautiful falsetto. We share some of the best advice we've ever been given. And Speaker 3 (0:12) it's my birthday! What? Is it? Enjoy the show! Speaker 4 (0:22) Hello everybody. Hey. Welcome back Speaker 3 (0:25) to our Canadian Hangout for another Canadian Hangout with me and him. We're still here in Canada. We're still in Canada. Going well, isn't it? It's going very, very well. It's lovely to be back with you again. Are you talking to me or are you talking to everybody else? Speaker 4 (0:40) To everybody Speaker 3 (0:41) else. Speaker 4 (0:41) Okay, right. I've seen Speaker 3 (0:43) you Speaker 4 (0:43) every day and every night, every morning, every lunchtime, every dinner time. We Speaker 3 (0:49) work together. We eat together. We yoga together. We do yoga together. We've Speaker 4 (0:54) been Speaker 3 (0:54) doing yoga in Speaker 4 (0:55) the morning. We've done more yoga, Speaker 3 (0:55) haven't we? We have. We're very, very bendy now. Speaker 4 (0:59) Do you know what? The day you didn't do, I haven't told you this. So the day you didn't do, there was only a couple of us at the front of the class. Speaker 3 (1:08) I noticed as well, you were right front and centre of the class. Right front. I'm really getting on with the York Speaker 4 (1:12) teacher now. I am. I really am. Look at me. Look Speaker 3 (1:15) how bendy I am. She loves my Speaker 4 (1:16) downward dog. Dirty downward dog. The guy in the back right-hand corner. Oh yeah, I saw him. Oh, you were there for that one? Speaker 3 (1:24) Yeah. Speaker 4 (1:25) Yeah, you saw him? Yeah. Speaker 3 (1:26) And Speaker 4 (1:26) then when she says, where's your wife today? I didn't Speaker 3 (1:29) hear this. Speaker 4 (1:30) He says, oh, my wife had quite a grumbly stomach in the night. And she was up all night. So we don't know if it's a bug or something she's eating. And I'm like, and you've come to a yoga class where everyone's breathing out, breathing hard. And you're sat in the back breathing like that in an air with no, in a room with no windows open. Speaker 3 (1:51) No air. Speaker 4 (1:53) And I was lying in bed last night thinking. I've caught it off him. I've got a yoga bug. I've got a yoga bug. Oh, no. That's just, how rude is that? That is Speaker 3 (2:05) a bit rude. Speaker 4 (2:06) My wife's got a grumbly, you should be in bed. It was 7 a.m. Speaker 3 (2:10) Yeah. Speaker 4 (2:11) So, yeah, we've done yoga. It's been great. Really relaxing. Really Speaker 3 (2:14) relaxing. Hasn't been stressful at all. I'm in a real Speaker 4 (2:17) flow state when I do it. Hasn't been Speaker 3 (2:19) stressful Speaker 4 (2:20) at all. Are you sleeping all right out here? Okay, I still wake up in the night. Speaker 3 (2:24) I have this thing, right, when we are away, and we travel a lot for work, don't we? We do. Different hotels and bits and bobs. And I have this thing because of our job and what we do. When we're hosting a TV show, you're always looking for the camera with the red light on it because that's the one you've got to talk to. So when I'm away and I've got jet lag and I wake up in the middle of the night, you know, the TV's got a red light on it. And I kind of go, oh, and I kind of think, I'm on telly. And I kind of go, oh, I'm on telly. And I have those dreams sometimes. But Speaker 4 (2:58) didn't you, you used to have these. back when we're doing saturday mornings yeah and didn't you used to wake up like in an anxious sweat always always used to have anxiety Speaker 3 (3:07) dreams before shows yeah yeah are you having anxiety dreams now i dream about the show i had a dream last night about a format about the format of like a challenge and stuff right and people weren't getting it and i was getting really irate like no you don't understand So yeah, and then I woke up and the red light was on. I thought, oh my God, I'm Speaker 4 (3:24) on Speaker 3 (3:24) the telly. I do that quite a lot. Speaker 4 (3:27) I'm in me pants. Welcome, let me get me out of here. I'm in me pants. Do you have to Speaker 2 (3:32) speak talk? Speaker 4 (3:33) I don't know. Speaker 2 (3:34) No. Speaker 4 (3:34) Don't know. He snores. I know that. My God, for such a little fella, the noise that comes out of his mouth is huge. It is. It's like an airplane taking off. Not anymore. Why? What have you done? Speaker 3 (3:50) I've just stopped doing it. Speaker 4 (3:52) You can't just, you can't, what you've just said to yourself, I'm going to stop snoring, that's it. Yeah. Because you're sleeping on your own out here, you don't know. Oh, maybe. Right, I'm going to sleep around at yours tonight. No, you Speaker 2 (4:01) don't. Speaker 4 (4:02) So Speaker 2 (4:02) I can Speaker 4 (4:02) let you know what happens. Absolutely not. So let's Speaker 2 (4:03) hit Speaker 4 (4:03) a camera and go around and record him. Oh, Speaker 2 (4:05) yeah. I know. Speaker 4 (4:07) Why don't you just record yourself and then we can play it on the pod next time. No, because then Speaker 3 (4:12) I'll wake up going, Speaker 1 (4:12) I'm on. Speaker 4 (4:14) I'm being recorded. Two cameras. I'm being recorded. There's a main shot and there's a close-up. On my phone. Speaker 3 (4:20) I had a very rude awakening the other day. Did you? Three o'clock in the morning, my phone started ringing. And I normally put my phone on do not disturb. Well, in fact, I had put my phone on do not disturb. But then for some reason, you know, when somebody rings your phone and it rings on your laptop or on your iPad. Yeah. So my phone was on do not disturb, but my iPad and laptop started ringing in the middle of the night, three o'clock in the morning, woke me up. I was like, oh, red light. Do you ever wake up in a nice way? Very rarely. Very rarely. So anxious. Chaotic. But then it was going off. So I was like, what the hell is that? I grabbed my phone. I looked at it. The phone was ringing. I was a bit like that. Swiped it, opened it. Big face in the screen, Isla, had nicked mummy's phone and wanted to ring daddy. Speaker 4 (5:08) You can't be angry at that. I couldn't be angry. Speaker 3 (5:12) Did Speaker 2 (5:12) you answer? Speaker 3 (5:13) Yeah. Speaker 2 (5:14) Hi, daddy. I Speaker 3 (5:15) said, it's three o'clock in the morning, darling. But it was lovely. It was very nice. And then I phoned her back later on. She went, I'm so sorry, daddy. I didn't realise. I said, can't be Speaker 4 (5:24) angry at you. You can't. Well done. It was just nice Speaker 3 (5:28) that she wanted to talk to daddy. Yeah, it is nice. It was Speaker 4 (5:30) nice. Have you had anyone from the hotel that you've spoken to who isn't British or Australian? Speaker 3 (5:36) We've met very few Canadians. Yeah, really few. They're all Brits, Aussies. Yeah. Speaker 4 (5:42) So obviously the guys in the crew, a lot of them are Canadian, but we don't see a lot of them because they're out shooting in the forest. So they're with the celebrities. So we don't get, on our time shifts, we don't get to see them. Even the girl. who's cleaning my room, who happened to come out of the room yesterday morning as she was coming in. You know, when you open the door. Yeah, housekeeper there, ready to go. Ready to go. I Speaker 3 (6:04) was Speaker 4 (6:04) like, don't worry, you can go in. And she was like, oh, thank you very much. I was like, where are you from? She went, I'm from Essex. So, nice to meet you. And she was like, oh, it's really nice to meet you. And she obviously recognized us. And then I was like, in a bit of a sweat walking down the corridor going, have I put all them pants away? They're dirty, they're dirty. Where have I put all that? Where have I put them? Speaker 4 (6:25) So yeah, not even the housemates are Canadian. I don't know, where do we go to meet Canadian people in Canada? Where are you all? If you're Canadian and you're watching, come and visit us. We'd like to speak to you. I haven't heard any guy say, well, hello there, buddy. Speaker 3 (6:38) So you're the only one. I know. Speaking of Canadian, in front of us here are two boxes on the table, Speaker 4 (6:45) red boxes. But on the side here, it says Beaver Tales. It also says Happiness Inside. So these are a traditional Canadian snack, right? Speaker 2 (6:56) Yes, they are. A Speaker 4 (6:57) beaver tail. Speaker 2 (6:58) Yes, a famous Canadian fried dough pastry. Speaker 4 (7:01) Bonjour, my sweet, it says on the lid. This is not a beaver tail, right? Speaker 2 (7:05) It's dough. It looks like a schnitzel. It Speaker 4 (7:09) does look like a schnitzel. They haven't like deep fried an actual beaver's tail because I wouldn't eat that. That's a trial. Are you meant to have these hot, really? Speaker 2 (7:17) Yeah, ideally. Speaker 4 (7:19) Because I presume this is like... Oh, Speaker 2 (7:20) it's very Speaker 4 (7:20) cold. It's very cold. I presume this is like cinnamon sugar. Speaker 2 (7:25) He said it would still be nice. Speaker 4 (7:26) So it's like a churro kind of thing. Speaker 2 (7:28) Yeah. Speaker 4 (7:28) I'm not sure about... Oh, gosh, it's very cold. That one would have been amazing. The fact that it's cold is a real shame. It's very sugary. Yeah, that's what I like about it. Cinnamon sugar. Is this really popular here? Do you like a churro? I could take a look. Well, that's why you want like these. Right. But if that was hot, that would be lovely. Speaker 2 (7:50) Yeah, and they do it with like Nutella. When Speaker 4 (7:51) did you buy these? Tuesday. Speaker 2 (7:53) Last night. Speaker 4 (7:54) Week past Tuesday. You've ruined it, really. You've ruined my beaver tail. I need a fresh beaver tail. Where did you get it from? Speaker 2 (8:02) Beaver tails. Speaker 4 (8:04) A beaver's house. Yeah. Okay. Oh, it's very sugary. That's right on my street, that is. I'd like to try that again. So tell me when you got it. I'm going to go there. I'm going to get a fresh one. I'm going to report back. Speaker 1 (8:15) Because Speaker 4 (8:15) that is not doing it justice. A cold, hard beaver tail. And you need a bit of Nutella on it. Ice cold. Speaker 2 (8:23) Traditional one. Speaker 4 (8:25) Is it traditional? Yeah. To have it that cold? Speaker 2 (8:27) Yeah. Speaker 4 (8:27) Oh, you just couldn't be bothered. Speaker 2 (8:29) Well, you had to come in very early today. I couldn't get a shot. Oh! Speaker 2 (8:37) You left at the Speaker 4 (8:37) same time as us? Speaker 2 (8:39) Yeah, the shop doesn't open until midday. Midday? Yeah. You're Speaker 3 (8:43) making this up. No shops open at midday. It Speaker 2 (8:46) does and it closes at 10pm. Speaker 4 (8:47) You know I'm going to check up on this. Yeah. We're still going to check up on this. Well, thanks for the effort. Thanks for all of your recommendations. Thanks for your recommendations. Thanks Speaker 3 (8:58) for Speaker 4 (8:58) all of the little effort you went to on getting that beaver tail. Speaker 3 (9:01) Little or no effort. Thank you for the recommendations. Speaker 3 (9:05) A letter here I want to bring to your attention. It says, hi, guys. Hi. I was driving down the road in Canada, and to my surprise, there was Ant. Oh, not again. Wait, she spotted you in Canada. You've made it to West Coast Canada. Loving the pod, Emma. Yeah, I am West Coast Canada. That's Speaker 4 (9:25) where we are, Vancouver. Speaker 3 (9:26) No, no, no. Speaker 3 (9:29) You are on West Coast Canada. Speaker 4 (9:31) It's him again. It's him again. It's the Speaker 3 (9:34) other one. He's Mr. Rooter this time. Mr. Rooter. If that was Speaker 4 (9:39) Australian Speaker 3 (9:40) language, that would mean something Speaker 4 (9:42) very different. On our right, Aussies. Speaker 3 (9:45) Mr. Rooter. What did you Speaker 4 (9:47) do? Fix your Wi-Fi? He's plumbing. He's a plumber. Oh, I thought like Rooter. You know, you've got your Rooter. Plumber. Okay. He's like the older version of the younger one that we see without the hat. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Like the ice cream guy is a bit younger than him. So he's slightly older. He's me now. Yeah. Whereas the ice cream guy is me in my 30s, 20s, 20s, 30s. Oh my God. There he is. Do you think the person who originally sketched that still gets money? Or do you think it's just ripped off around the world? Do you think I am ripped off all the way around the world? Speaker 3 (10:23) Yeah, I think Speaker 4 (10:24) so. I Speaker 3 (10:25) think it's just you've got such a... Classic looking Speaker 4 (10:27) face. Quite a saleable face. It's quite sellable. Sellable, yeah. You Speaker 3 (10:31) know, Speaker 4 (10:32) you could... I think you're right. Speaker 3 (10:33) Yeah. I could sell anything. Speaker 4 (10:35) Anything. Plumbing, ice Speaker 3 (10:37) cream. Yeah. Kebabs. Kebabs. Speaker 4 (10:40) I could sell a lot of kebabs. This Speaker 2 (10:41) face Speaker 4 (10:42) sells a lot of kebabs. Speaker 3 (10:45) So if you're starting a new business and you really need to succeed, why don't you think about having Ant here as the face of your business? Why not? I won't soon. I mean, Speaker 4 (10:53) I will. Speaker 3 (10:54) If you use that, Speaker 4 (10:55) I don't care. But I will. I'm very litigious. So I'm going to make it my mission for the rest of this week to speak to more Canadians. To actively try and get out there and speak to Canadians. Meet the people. Are you? No. You've always just got to lock yourself away in your ivory tower, right? Yes. In your yoga Speaker 3 (11:15) palace. I'm going to keep talking to Brits and Aussies. But I'm going to do that. I am. Speaker 2 (11:21) If you do, I've got some phrases that you can maybe learn. Speaker 3 (11:24) Learn? So Speaker 2 (11:24) you can impress them. Speaker 3 (11:25) What, like Canadian slang words? Or Canadian chatter? Speaker 2 (11:29) Yes. Come Speaker 4 (11:30) on, then. Speaker 3 (11:30) So Speaker 2 (11:30) I've got a little quiz. Go Speaker 4 (11:31) on, then. Right, okay. Speaker 2 (11:32) You can guess what it means. Great. Speaker 4 (11:34) Look, Steve's put his tea down now. He loves a quiz. Look at him. Speaker 2 (11:36) Look. I love a quiz. I just love quizzes. Speaker 4 (11:39) Okay, Speaker 2 (11:40) so number one. If someone tells you to nize it, what do they mean? Speaker 3 (11:46) Nice it. Nice it. Pronounced Speaker 2 (11:47) like nice, but with a Z sound. Speaker 3 (11:49) Nice it. Nice it. You've got to kind of, if you're nice in it. Go for it. I think you've got to cut something off. Go for it. Speaker 2 (11:58) You're saying go for it. You're saying. Speaker 4 (12:00) Chop something off. Speaker 2 (12:02) It means they're telling you to be quiet or stop talking. Speaker 4 (12:06) Noisette. Oh, noisette. Speaker 2 (12:07) Yeah. Speaker 4 (12:08) Like noisette. Oi, noisette. Noisette. Okay, right. The first time I meet a Canadian. Hang on, Speaker 3 (12:16) we've got a Canadian over here. Speaker 2 (12:18) Nitz. Speaker 4 (12:19) Nitz. Nitzette. Nitzette. Okay. Do you want to do this? Speaker 2 (12:25) Maybe you should be doing this, not me. Do you want me to read the slang? Speaker 4 (12:28) Yeah, go on, come read the slang. Speaker 3 (12:29) God, we've got an actual Canadian. I've never seen one in real life. Speaker 3 (12:34) Whenever I'm talking about not being a Canadian, you've been Speaker 4 (12:37) sat at the corner of the room. Why did you not
