Speaker 2 (1:59) Cheers! What was that? Welcome to the Handsome Pod! I'm Fortune Feimster. I'm Mae Martin. And I am Speaker 4 (2:09) Tig Notaro. Speaker 2 (2:10) Yes, you are. And we're together, you guys. In the same room. We sure are. Speaker 4 (2:15) And you're singing our song, our In the Same Room song. Yeah, Speaker 2 (2:19) we're in the same room. Together again. Get out your broom. Did you know they call a witch's garage a broom closet? Ah, nice. So Speaker 3 (2:30) as you can see, I'm back Speaker 2 (2:31) in Speaker 3 (2:32) a Speaker 2 (2:32) big way. Well, it is October, the month of Halloween. Spooky Speaker 4 (2:35) month, yeah. You know, I was pointing out different words to my sons that are really funny when you think about what they were named. Yeah. And that's what broom closet, it didn't. Yeah. Kind of fits, but fireplace. Fireplace. That is a fireplace for your fire. That's really good. Yeah, make no mistake. This place is where your fire goes. It's your fireplace. Yeah. Speaker 2 (3:07) What's another thing like that? Broom closet. Yeah. I mean, it kind of works, but you see where. Yeah. I'm trying now. I'm going to be trying to think of them. Not me. Speaker 3 (3:17) You're Speaker 2 (3:18) not going to Speaker 3 (3:18) try to think of any? You've moved on Speaker 4 (3:20) already. Not one. You know, there's probably many, but I just remember looking at a fireplace once and being like, that is so funny. A Speaker 3 (3:31) penguin, in Japanese, penguin translates to business goose. Speaker 2 (3:36) Oh, I love a business goose. Don't Google it. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's not very good. If Speaker 3 (3:42) it's not that, Speaker 2 (3:43) it should be. Isn't that good? Speaker 4 (3:44) Business goose. Yeah. If we start a company called Business Goose LLC. Speaker 3 (3:50) The Speaker 4 (3:50) logo's Speaker 3 (3:50) a Speaker 4 (3:50) penguin. Speaker 3 (3:51) And the logo's three little penguins. Aw. Look at us. No, Speaker 4 (3:54) there's not a single penguin. Yeah, okay. It's Speaker 2 (3:58) a Speaker 4 (3:58) goose with a briefcase. Yeah. Speaker 2 (4:00) I love that. Oh, yeah. Well, Speaker 4 (4:02) we'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. We'll workshop it. We have time. Speaker 2 (4:06) We are an LLC. We just need to change our name. Are we? Are we a handsome... We are. Is a company? We Speaker 3 (4:14) are a company. Speaker 2 (4:15) Fortune's on top of that. Speaker 3 (4:17) You're the business mind of the trio. That's right. You Speaker 2 (4:21) guys, don't worry. I got us. Yeah, thanks, dude. So Speaker 4 (4:24) if fortune's the business mind, what are you... You're like the... Sort of... What? Speaker 3 (4:33) Anxious... Slot? Speaker 2 (4:35) Did you say anxious slut? I love it. That Speaker 3 (4:39) came Speaker 2 (4:39) from the heart. That came from the heart. That's how I adapted. You're an anxious slut. Okay, an anxious slut. There's another t-shirt. Always happen. I'm an anxious Speaker 4 (4:47) slut. Speaker 2 (4:48) Nobody wants a t-shirt that says, I'm the business mind. They want the anxious slut. Also, I love that a Speaker 4 (4:54) slut, I love that somebody so anxious could be a slut. You would think that that would stop the whole process. Yeah. Speaker 3 (5:04) freer. And their sluttiness makes them more anxious. They have Speaker 4 (5:07) regrets. Oh no, not regret. Speaker 2 (5:11) I shouldn't have been slutting around so much. I have regret. But then the way they ease their anxiety is Speaker 3 (5:17) to slut around some more. That's right. It's a vicious cycle. A Speaker 4 (5:20) vicious one. What am I? Speaker 2 (5:24) I'm Speaker 4 (5:24) not an anxious slut. I am not the business mind, but I am... You're an easy rider, easy cowboy, easy. Easy Tig. Easy Tig. Here's the thing. It was my friend when I was little. Not too little. I was in seventh grade. And I told you about my friend, maybe, John. He was a drummer. He passed away. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He would talk about me all the time when we first met in seventh grade. And he'd be like, yeah, Tig. And Tig and I are going to go here. And we're doing this. And his mom goes, Tig, huh? You mean easy, Tig? What do you mean Speaker 2 (6:04) by that? She Speaker 4 (6:04) goes, every school's got one. At mine, it was easy, Susan. No. And I was like, Mom, you don't Speaker 2 (6:13) understand. She thought you were an anxious slut. Yeah, she thought I was an anxious Speaker 4 (6:17) slut because I was the only girl running around with all the little rock and roll guys. That's funny. And I remember to this day that Barbara's. His mom, Barbara's, the girl at her school was Easy Susan. Easy Speaker 2 (6:30) Susan. Easy Susan makes sense to me. It sounds like Lazy Susan. Not Speaker 4 (6:34) Easy Tig. Speaker 2 (6:35) Easy Tig doesn't roll off the tongue as Speaker 4 (6:37) much Speaker 3 (6:37) as Easy Susan. Speaker 4 (6:39) Yeah. Speaker 2 (6:39) You know, like Speaker 3 (6:40) when you put subtitles on the video or AI does it automatically. So someone posted. Speaker 3 (6:48) Very in keeping with this, they screenshotted like... How did you Speaker 4 (6:50) know there was Speaker 3 (6:50) a phone Speaker 4 (6:51) under Speaker 3 (6:51) that pillow? Yeah, you just found Speaker 4 (6:52) a phone. Speaker 3 (6:53) I Speaker 4 (6:53) put it Speaker 3 (6:53) there. They screenshotted, so an episode of Handsome, I guess the video, AI had done the subtitles, but they got our names wrong. Oh, what is it? And Speaker 2 (7:08) this is what Speaker 3 (7:08) they thought they were. It said, hi, I'm Mate Wharton. Mate Wharton. And you went, I'm Chick Notaro. And then... Fortunate, you go, oh, you guys, I'm fortunate beamster. Fortunate beamster. Fortunate. Fortunate beamster. Speaker 2 (7:25) Beamster is one of my favorite cheeses. Yeah, me too. They have an aged gouda that's delish. It's got these little salt crystals in it. Speaker 3 (7:33) Oh, Speaker 2 (7:33) yeah, beamster. Quit trying to get off topic. Sorry. Speaker 4 (7:37) I am chick notaro. Chick notaro. But why did they get notaro right and not? That honestly doesn't make any Speaker 2 (7:45) sense. Maybe we mumbled more. Yeah, I definitely mumble. Mumble, mumble, jumble. Yeah. I'm a mumbler. I'm a, um. Drawler. Am I? Yeah, drawler. I Speaker 4 (7:56) don't feel like easy tig fit since you're anxious slut. Yeah, there's too Speaker 2 (8:01) much of a crossover. Speaker 4 (8:02) And we Speaker 2 (8:03) would have hooked up by now. Yeah. Oh my God, you're Speaker 4 (8:05) right. Easy Speaker 2 (8:06) tig and anxious slut. That's the perfect combo. Over and over and over again. Ain't nobody scissoring on the handsome pod. Speaker 4 (8:12) Fortune Marie. We're just chatting with friends. Wouldn't that blow your mind if you found out Mae and I had been... I would not know how to process that. And that's why I'm Speaker 3 (8:22) so anxious all the time because I'm having to keep it a secret. Speaker 4 (8:26) Also, we're having... trouble in our relationship and we bring it to you and we're like we this has been happening for two and a half years that would Speaker 2 (8:35) be a mind-boggling situation for me would you help us work through it or would you say this is a question yeah Speaker 4 (8:41) for the sake of the pod yeah not for the sake of us not for y'all's people wait this is classic business mind yeah Speaker 2 (8:50) yeah guys we can't let down the llc um classic Speaker 4 (8:55) anxious slut is like what would you help us work Speaker 2 (8:58) I don't want this to end. I would sit us all down and we would have, yeah, I would mediate. Yeah. And I would say, you guys, I don't think this relationship is worth pursuing in the way that you guys are doing. Yes, it is. Speaker 4 (9:10) A, you're married. Speaker 2 (9:11) But easy to be like, whatever. Either way. You'd Speaker 3 (9:14) be Speaker 2 (9:14) like, I'm Speaker 3 (9:14) fine either way. Okay. Speaker 4 (9:16) So easy to, is it more of like my chillness rather than. My sluttiness. Yeah, Speaker 3 (9:22) it's like easy rider, cowboy style. I see. Okay. Take it easy. Easy tig. Easy tig. Well, Speaker 2 (9:30) how are you guys? Good. Yeah? Good. I had my first therapy appointment today. Yeah, you did. Speaker 4 (9:38) Well, you guys. Good for you. Was Speaker 2 (9:39) it Speaker 4 (9:39) our last? Wait, first ever? In your life? No, no, no. I went to Speaker 2 (9:43) therapy for like three years. Straight. Yeah, Speaker 4 (9:47) three years straight. Speaker 2 (9:48) That was about like 12 years ago when I realized I had to work through some childhood issues. Speaker 4 (9:54) Yeah. Speaker 2 (9:54) And then I went to, during the end of my marriage, couple therapy, and then also started individual therapy at that point as well. I did that for a bit, and then that just sort of subsided. You got Speaker 4 (10:06) fixed. Yeah. I totally fixed. Speaker 2 (10:08) And then once I started crying on the pod several times, you both gently went, maybe. Maybe it's therapy. We Speaker 4 (10:18) say this Speaker 2 (10:18) with Speaker 4 (10:19) love. Speaker 2 (10:19) Listen, keep crying in the hot. Yeah, there were. No, I knew it was all done out of love. There was nothing about it other than y'all were like seeing a friend. We're just like, you're doing with Speaker 4 (10:32) a Speaker 2 (10:32) lot. You've got a lot on your plate. Speaker 4 (10:35) It's such a, I think, I mean, hopefully, is it your same therapist from before? No, this Speaker 2 (10:39) is a new one. I just wanted to, yeah, change it up. Did Speaker 4 (10:44) you Speaker 2 (10:44) feel lighter after? The first one's always you've got to do your whole life story. Yeah, you're getting a whole bunch out. So I feel like the first couple actually will just be like getting to a baseline. Yeah. And then I feel like the real stuff starts. So the first couple will be, I think, just more like this happened and this happened and this is going on. I wouldn't. Do it like that. Like a robot? Okay. Here is what went wrong and I feel hurt. This is what happened to me and this is why I'm crying all the time. Also, I want to make it clear. Speaker 4 (11:15) Our encouragement around therapy does not mean that this is not a safe place for you to have some feelings. Speaker 2 (11:21) Oh, yeah. No, I didn't think that at all. No, you guys were just like, you know, there are things that I can't talk about. We've talked about that in the last pod to everyone at the moment of what's going on with me. But I obviously confided in my friends. And there was just a long list of things happening that you guys and that I would also recommend to any of my friends. Yeah. that I would be like, yeah, this is a lot. You might need some. Also, it's Speaker 4 (11:48) a Speaker 2 (11:48) long list. Speaker 4 (11:49) We put on the list. That's right. We put Speaker 3 (11:51) it Speaker 4 (11:51) on the list. Speaker 2 (11:52) That's right. So, yeah, I was happy to start that. Speaker 3 (11:56) Sorry. I'm so sorry to interrupt. I know you're talking about important things, Speaker 2 (12:00) but that non-alcoholic beer says Easy Does It on the side. Easy Does Do It. Grab this non-alcoholic beer out of the fridge. Yeah, this is not an ad. No. It really is Speaker 4 (12:09) not an ad. I thought it would be funny to have a non-alcoholic beer, and then I forgot to have it. Yeah. It is Speaker 2 (12:16) called Easy Does It. Don't touch it. There's Speaker 4 (12:18) a Speaker 2 (12:18) hair on it. So? It has a ponytail. It looks like my hair, but I didn't get anywhere near that. Speaker 4 (12:25) That's good. It has a Speaker 2 (12:26) ponytail. Do you like non-alcoholic beer? Speaker 4 (12:30) Well, I don't drink. Yeah, Speaker 2 (12:33) true. Speaker 4 (12:33) And sometimes I like a beer flavor with... Yeah, the burgers. Vegan Speaker 3 (12:40) burger. Vegan Speaker 4 (12:41) burger. Speaker 3 (12:41) You know, Speaker 2 (12:42) with Speaker 4 (12:42) your burger. You know, with your bacon cheeseburger. Of course, vegan. Speaker 4 (12:51) Like I'm going to lash out. Yeah. I Speaker 2 (12:52) mean, of course. It's Speaker 4 (12:53) easy to. Speaker 2 (12:54) You've walked that back. Yeah. Sorry. Speaker 4 (12:57) I'd like it with certain, like, I love beer with Asian food. Oh, yeah. Speaker 3 (13:02) Love it. Yeah. Yeah. With the curry even. I don't like beer. Speaker 2 (13:06) I'm not a beer gal. Really? Yeah. Speaker 3 (13:09) Okay. Speaker 2 (13:10) Well, I'm just piping in. Yeah. We're chatting with friends. Yeah. We're chatting with friends on the handsome pod. Easy does it. Yeah. Business. Can we just Speaker 4 (13:20) call Speaker 2 (13:20) you LLC? Yes, LLC. What's up, LLC? What's happening in the hands of biz today? Yeah, that's good. Okay, so Speaker 4 (13:28) our Speaker 2 (13:28) new merch is Speaker 4 (13:30) Anxious Slut, LLC, and EasyTig. And Speaker 3 (13:34) every trio of friends has one. It's like, yeah, the Spice Girls. Every trio Speaker 4 (13:39) of friends has an Speaker 2 (13:40) LLC. Someone that's capitalizing on the friendship. Speaker 2 (13:47) You got yourself into therapy to keep the podcast Speaker 4 (13:49) going. That's right. Yeah. Okay. Are Speaker 2 (13:52) you in town for a while now? No. What about Speaker 4 (13:54) me? Sorry. Speaker 2 (13:56) You too. Are you here? Okay. Tigger, are you also in town? You go first. Speaker 4 (14:00) My next two Speaker 2 (14:00) months are pretty busy because I'm filming my special. Oh, yeah. In mid-November. Where are you filming it? In Denver. Oh, Speaker 4 (14:08) you told me that. At the Paramount. Speaker 2 (14:09) Awesome. So I'm kind of hitting the road hard for a bit. um yeah so yeah i'm at it so i'm out of town again for shows but then i'm home all next week oh that's good yeah i want to hear about that your new dog yeah Speaker 3 (14:24) you had a medical Speaker 2 (14:25) discovery Speaker 3 (14:26) right before we started oh yeah Speaker 4 (14:27) um i but i'm also oh yeah are you in town i'm not oh you're out of town i'm going on a vacation with my family oh where are you going Well, my family left today. They went to Buffalo, New York. I'm sorry your family left you. Speaker 3 (14:45) I'm handling Speaker 2 (14:46) it Speaker 4 (14:47) pretty well. I'll call LLC and cry to her later. Tomorrow is the Buffalo Bills' first home game. And Speaker 2 (15:00) Stephanie... Speaker 4 (15:01) She's Speaker 2 (15:01) a huge fan. Speaker 4 (15:02) Oh. I don't know if you understand. Speaker 2 (15:05) No, I knew she was like a crazy Buffalo Bills Speaker 4 (15:08) fan. She's Speaker 2 (15:08) a big Buffalo Speaker 4 (15:08) Bills fan. Speaker 2 (15:09) And it now runs in the family. So Max and Finn are. But like, what a team. Don't they break your heart all the time? If I were deeply invested. So you're like along for the ride. Speaker 4 (15:21) I'm just, I eat chips. Soak Speaker 2 (15:24) up Speaker 4 (15:24) the Speaker 2 (15:24) vibe. Speaker 4 (15:24) Yeah, like I'm Speaker 2 (15:25) sitting there. Wait, are y'all one of those fans that like help shovel the snow out of the stadium? Again. Speaker 4 (15:32) I think I know more about the Bills. I've never been to a Buffalo Bills game. Speaker 2 (15:40) Oh, Speaker 4 (15:40) okay. Gotcha. But also, my sons are big Buffalo Bison fans. What's that? Bisons. It's a Speaker 2 (15:48) minor league baseball team in Buffalo. Oh, Speaker 4 (15:52) no way. We're going to that as well. So we're going to the first home game of the Buffalo Bills tomorrow night. They're playing Detroit. And then we're going to the minor league baseball game. And Stephanie just sent me a video that I'll have to show you after. She said the whole plane to Buffalo was just full of crazy Buffalo Bill fans. Oh, my God. And she said Max yelled, go Buffalo. And then the whole plane would go, go Buffalo. Oh my God, Mama! No way! That's Speaker 2 (16:25) going Speaker 4 (16:25) to be a core memory. And here's something Speaker 2 (16:27) that made me tear up when I saw it. Speaker 4 (16:30) Because I was like, this is, Stephanie lived there as a kid. And she's so, her whole family, they're so in deep with the Buffalo Bills. Speaker 2 (16:39) And Speaker 4 (16:39) the fact that we're bringing them. To where she, you know, partly grew up and go see her house and her school and where she played softball and basketball and then go see these teams. And they're like all in on Buffalo. The dream of having kids Speaker 3 (16:57) that they're just into what your life and what you're into and like care. Like, that's so great. Don't you Speaker 4 (17:02) care about Evel Knievel? Are y'all going to Speaker
