Speaker 2 (1:01) Welcome to From Underdog to Entrepreneur Building Dreams Podcast with Pat Miller, the podcast for entrepreneurs who were counted out and still built it anyway. Let's get into today's episode. Speaker 2 (1:15) I would like to welcome Summer Day. Summer equips leaders to communicate with both faith and live and lead from their God-given identity. An award-winning TV host and executive producer, six-time best-selling author, and two Comic Club Awards recipient. She has built and scaled multiple seven-figure businesses. Speaker 3 (1:53) Thank you, Pat. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful to be here and be able to chat with you and your audience. And I love all the stuff that you're doing. And thanks for having me. Speaker 2 (2:04) Yeah, we chatted before the show. I'm happy that we don't know how we crossed paths, but I believe I got an email. But either way, we're here together today for a purpose, right? We're going to tell your story. You have an incredible story. We chatted before the show. You're a very successful woman, and it seems like you're at the point in your life where you're giving back an awful lot. So I want to talk about that. I want you to tell the audience your brief. origin story on where you started and how you got to where you are now. Yeah, Speaker 3 (2:36) sure. Well, I'm just a girl born and raised in Los Angeles, California. And well, I think I'll take you to August of 2019. So that was before COVID. So for sharing dates, August of 2019 was before COVID. I was running a successful company in LA. We had multiple branches. Everything was going great until I showed up to an emergency board meeting where in 22 minutes, everything I worked for my whole life was stolen from me by my board of directors. They say I got Steve Jobs, you know, Steve Jobs. Yeah. Yeah. So in 22 minutes, they they they voted. They took everything. And these were people that I loved. I trusted. And I never will forget Pat sitting in that meeting. sort of staring into those, you know, faces of betrayal. And I was feeling like I was having like an out of body experience. I don't know if you've ever had that kind where you feel like looking down on your life. Yeah, you're floating. Yep. But it's not really happening to you. And so after that took me into a spiraled season of, you know, just depression and being lost. It was like everything I had imagined or. had in my life was taken away. It was at the same season, another side business I was building began to crumble. And if I'm just going to be real, Pat, two weeks before that, I was in a hospital having a miscarriage. And so I Speaker 2 (4:06) tell you, I lost literally everything. Speaker 3 (4:10) I lost everything. And so if you're listening to this and you're in a season, maybe where you have felt like you've built stuff, it's crumbled, you've lost it, everything. I mean, I lost who I was. I had no idea who summer day was or what was going to be next for me. And, and I always love sharing that part of my origin story because when you read my bio, Pat, I still am like, wait, is that me? Because I'm the same way. Yeah. I'm only here on your podcast today, getting to share with your people because of that moment of betrayal. I am only a six time, you know, bestselling author. three TV shows, like all those things were a result from the moment of really losing everything, being betrayed at such a deep, deep level. And so every and all success that I've had from now, from now, from then has really just been. such a surprise and shock to me, to be honest with you. Now my life is so different than anything I had ever imagined and I wouldn't change a thing. And so if the person listening, you're going through that season of betrayal, because I actually, Pat, I'm not special. Speaker 2 (5:25) All of us Speaker 3 (5:26) have experienced betrayal. I just want to tell you that betrayal can be a gift if you let it. Right. It can be that open door to a different future that you can't see at the time. Speaker 2 (5:39) That's a tough one to come back from. When you trust people and they stab you in the back, that's very tough because it's like getting punched right in the gut. And I've experienced it. I'm in a ruthless industry, like we chatted. And I do talk about this a lot on my show, how your experiences will open up another door for you. You are on the wrong path. Speaker 3 (6:03) Yeah. You Speaker 2 (6:04) are around the wrong people. And they didn't deserve you. I like that. I don't think I've heard that one. I do a lot of soul searching, a lot of meditation. And sometimes you hear a lot of the, I'm stuck, I'm stuck. And then you have to make changes in your life. Sometimes life makes choices for you. In your case, life made a choice for you because you were around the wrong people who didn't deserve you, who was actually becoming abundant because of you. And it wasn't the way it was supposed to be written. Speaker 3 (6:39) Yeah. You Speaker 2 (6:40) were supposed to be the winner of your abundance because you worked hard, right? So kind of turned out okay. I don't even want to ask about what happened to those people. Well, you know, I Speaker 3 (6:53) mentioned that it was six months before COVID. Yeah. And so when COVID hit, that business actually shut down for a year and a half. There you go. And the crazy thing is when I lost everything, the only other thing I'd ever wanted to do with my life was maybe become a speaker. But I was so set on my other path, I never thought it would happen. So when this happened, I decided to start going to like every major business conference out there to study Tony Robbins and just all of the people that I had heard about forever. And when COVID hit, instead of running not just one, it was two companies that were shut down for a year and a half. I don't even know what I would have done. I literally launched my coaching business in April of 2020. And I did six figures in my first six months as a coach. Didn't even know that was a big deal, actually, for quite some time. And then within a year, I launched my first book, became a bestselling author. All of those things were happening in that season where if the betrayal didn't happen, it was what you were saying. The path had to change in order for me. to become who I needed to become to be where I am now. And as I said before, I just wouldn't change it. So if you're listening to this, I just want to kind of say like, hold on. I mean, my depression was horrible. I ended up with severe PTSD. I had two seizures. That night went home. My brain could not compute the betrayal. And so I don't want to make light of how horrible it was, hanging on by a thin thread, trying to stay strong for my children, being lost, not knowing anything. And then... you know, hashtag but God and all of the different things that got changed from that season. So I promise you that that's correct. Your path is changing for a reason. And I believe God only upgrades. It upgraded business connections. It upgraded opportunities. It upgraded relationships, friendships, all the different things. Speaker 2 (8:51) Upgraded you. It upgraded me. Come on. Come on, girl. So listen, I always say. God sees all. Amen. He's taking notes. Speaker 3 (9:02) Yeah. Speaker 2 (9:03) Yeah. Speaker 3 (9:03) God Speaker 2 (9:04) sees all. You know, people think they can do the dirty behind closed doors and they don't ever have to face anything. But that's, you know, that's a personal belief system. I don't like to push that on anyone, but I live my life like that. I've been in dark places. I'm getting ready to release my second book. And I have a story in my next book about how a contract that I worked for, a contractor, a developer, was keeping me from growing. Speaker 1 (9:31) And I Speaker 2 (9:32) didn't know it until we separated ways. When he told me I need to shut my mouth and learn how to behave, I stopped working for him. And then I realized, yeah, I was like, nobody talks to me that way. My parents are dead. Okay. You're not talking to me like that, buddy. I work way too hard for what I have. I got to deal with all different kinds of men and personalities and egos, but that I'm not going to put up with. So we wound up separating and I tell the story in my book and I got better contracts. I got people that respected me. I was opened up to more stability. with money. And it's incredible how, you know, the old saying, when one door opens another, one door closes, another one opens. Yeah. This one opened a few windows because I wasn't supposed to be with that guy. Wow. He was keeping me from the whole future that I hadn't had in front of me because I was so concerned about paying the bills and being status quo. I realized I wasn't really making a lot of profit. I was just pushing paper. Speaker 3 (10:38) Wow. Speaker 2 (10:40) But you get caught up, right? Yeah. You're trading money 20 in, 19 out. 30 in, 28 out. And then you're like, I always say in my industry, when the music stops and they all fall down, like, you know, ring around the rosy, who's going to survive? Come on. Who's really making money and who's just pushing paper? Speaker 3 (11:02) Yeah, for sure. For sure. I'd love to share one more thing. So, you know, COVID hits, right? And I launched a coaching business and I have radical, crazy success. Like making six figures in six months, I didn't know was like top 1 % of coaches. I had my first six-figure day. I had a six-figure day off the back of a webinar. What were you doing? I did a webinar. And Speaker 2 (11:24) I literally- Oh, so it was a webinar. Speaker 3 (11:26) I called 12 women into a $12,000 one-year program. It's called Fear into Faith Academy. That was my first coaching program where I shifted women out of the fears, keeping them stuck. Women heard my story and they're like, okay, I've got to be able to learn from her. I love that. And into bold, unstoppable faith to just be who God's created them to be. And honestly, I don't want to tell you if you're listening to, I did it scared. I didn't have a coaching certification yet. I didn't really know what I was doing. The only thing that I did know was. What caught what kept me from going into a deep hill of depression and staying there was knowing the power of forgiveness. I had a beautiful mentor that walked me through forgiveness. And this was just a couple of years before I at that time, I was having seizures all the time. I was having severe PTSD. I was labeled with panic disorder. I was on anxiety meds. Speaker 2 (12:19) And I Speaker 3 (12:19) went to the Amen Brain Clinic and got my brain analyzed because I was having 20 seizures a day. And you might not believe this, but this woman walking me through forgiveness, this was for a different situation, not the stealing of the company, but she walked me through forgiveness and it all went away. In three and a half weeks, I did this deep dive into my soul, into inner healing, into forgiveness. And I wrote, it was a lot of writing. And I got rid of the PTSD, all of it. I was completely seizure-free, PTSD-free for four years before the betrayal of the company. And it took me a while to kind of like circle back to that. But then I knew I had something very special. I knew that I knew how to walk through forgiveness for that board of directors. I knew that would change my life. And I had to, I didn't know right away to teach other women until women started coming to me. They're like, I'm having this situation. I was like, I think you need to work on forgiveness. Yes. Can you help me? Well, my mentor had passed away and I didn't know anybody else teaching what she was teaching. And so when I started my coaching program, the only thing I knew was people need to know how to walk through this. People need to know how to forgive. And since then, I've helped thousands of people walk through this program. And you would not believe it, Pat. We've had women walk through forgiveness and drop like 24 pounds. We've had women that were struggling in addiction, break addiction. All kinds of stuff. I've had women that were sexually assaulted as a child that literally three decades later still can't sleep with the light off. All these other things completely walk out of it. So I actually just released it for the first time. Like I've never taught this outside of coaching programs that people have paid thousands of dollars to be in. And I just felt like God said to just help the whole world now. So I'd love to bless anybody listening. It's powertoforgive.com. It's a five-part video training series. Power to, it's the word to, Tio, power to forgive. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt in my own body that forgiveness caused the seizures to stop, the PTSD to stop, all of it. And I've also just seen thousands of results that can't be denied. Physical healings, emotional healing, relationships healed. I've seen people who... The husband hadn't given the wife flowers in 20 years. And then suddenly there was flowers. And just it's incredible what happens when you actually walk through forgiveness. And the last thing I want to say about that is most of the people who coach with me, when they really deep dive, they have to forgive themselves. And Speaker 2 (14:53) so Speaker 3 (14:53) we usually walk through forgiveness with yourself first and then forgiveness of other people. So I just encourage you, if you're listening to this, I really believe in God. And I believe that. This is timed in your life. Walk through this. It's short, five minute videos, very short. It's a written thing just with you and the amount of heart healing and everything. It's what got me to where I am. I would not have survived. And it became, it literally is the cornerstone of why I have that award for making seven figures is from that, is from that's how I started as a coach. Speaker 2 (15:28) But you know what, Summer, it's not just about the money. It's about making a difference. Yeah. For sure. You're helping people. That's more, that's more to me. I don't know. Maybe, maybe that's easy said than done once your bills are paid. Right. But you've helped a lot of people and I have to keep reiterating forgiveness is for yourself. It's not for the others. Yes. Speaker 3 (15:53) You Speaker 2 (15:54) cannot, that baggage is so heavy. If you don't forgive, it just, it weighs you down. Like you said, it weighs you down with depression. It weighs you down with weight and cortisol and lack of sleep and depression. It's a lot to carry, man. It really is. Speaker 3 (16:11) It doesn't make what they did okay or right. Forgiveness, basically, it takes you off of the judgment seat that you don't need to be on anymore. And it really does set you free. And it's so incredibly powerful. And it's a release. Basically, it's like you're going to lovingly put them in God's hands and God gets to be the judge of what has occurred. And you don't have that responsibility anymore. And it's the most powerful thing that I have been able to teach as a coach in six years is that. And I'm really glad that we created as a free course. Speaker 2 (16:42) I love it. I love it because I, when I went through all my losses and I lost my husband, I changed, I'm a different person because I went through that, you know, wired, always stressed out, angry at people who did me wrong. And I was like, these people are just going to wind up killing me. Like Speaker 3 (17:02) that's, Speaker 2 (17:03) that's above me. That's above my pay grade. God will handle them. Speaker 3 (17:07) Right. Pay grade. Speaker 2 (17:10) It's above my pay grade. God will take care of them. I can't, you know, we get into this whole thing where we think we can control everything and we can't. Speaker 3 (17:18) You gotta let Speaker 2 (17:18) go, let God. And I believe in that. I have it in my bedroom when I wake up every day. And we, I mean, I Speaker 3 (17:24) have, Speaker 2 (17:24) you Speaker 3 (17:25) name it. I have walked people through this forgiveness stuff that were in, what's it called? SRA? Satanic ritual abuse. Oh, God. People have had so much trauma. They've had multiple personality splits, like so many things. Now, some people may need more help than others, but I'm telling you, I feel like the forgiveness is the foundational heart work. And when I tell you thousands of people, the results that we've just had are undeniable. I've not had a single client do it and say, nothing really changed. It's just never happened. If you take the time. To put forgiveness at the forefront of whatever's going on in your life right now and you walk through this course, I just promise you the results that you're going to get are going to just astound you. And we've had like moms lead their children through it and just so many incredible things. So thank you for giving me a chance to share that. Oh, no, absolutely. Speaker 2 (18:18) That's what the platform's for. It's to reach people. You never know who's listening, you Speaker 3
