That was the belief that I had. And I noticed when I go backpack and look at all of my successes, I would get to the point and then I would sabotage. I remember my wife, we were doing over a million dollars in revenues when in my financial services business. And she came to me and says, oh my God, Curtis, you are killing it. It's so easy for you to do that. I looked at her and I'm like, you don't understand. This is very difficult. This is extremely hard. This is hard work. That same message that I have been carrying for years and years and years, that's what it was. I'm telling you, this stuff is real. Speaker 3 (1:22) Welcome to From Underdog to Entrepreneur Building Dreams Podcast with Pat Miller, the podcast for entrepreneurs who were counted out and still built it Speaker 2 (1:32) anyway. Let's get into today's episode. Speaker 3 (1:36) Today, I'm so honored to welcome Curtis McCollum. I had a great conversation with him before the show. Listen up, guys. He's the creator of Legit Mindset, learning, growing, expanding, and transforming. He helps CEOs, founders, and entrepreneurs eliminate the blind spots that have silently held them back since you know where. childhood. Welcome to my show, Curtis. Nice to meet you. Pat, Speaker 2 (2:02) you know what? It's so exciting to be here. You know, we had a brief conversation right before we went on air and it was like the energy that we had and the connection that we had was like, I mean, my God, it was like unbelievable. So I'm so excited just to be here in your presence. I can feel your energy. I feel your love. That's it. Believe it or not, Pat, one of my top value. My career child value is love. And some people say, love? Yeah, love. But love for me is the energy that connects from the heart. And what we've had and what we've experienced so far is that energy, that love, that connection that is just beautiful. I love it. Speaker 3 (2:43) I appreciate that. And I am on the same page with you, my friend. Same page. It's so easy to hate. It's easier to love. You know, people go the wrong route. Everything in life is decisions. We talked about that. It's your reactions to your experiences. And, you know, you had some bad stuff. We're going to talk about it happened to you as well as me. We have a lot in common. We've got a lot to hit up. So I know my audience is going to love hearing about this. So talk to me about the mindset and this legit mindset. that you have. I know you talked about opening up people's emotions and you use it, you use hypnotherapy. Is that it? You use a lot of stuff, but let's talk about that. Tell me the story. Speaker 2 (3:32) Well, basically a few years back, I mean, I've been doing this now for almost 35, 40 years, practicing self-hypnosis, practicing neuro-linguistic programming, and then lately mental emotional release for my clients. But what happened a few years back, when I first became a coach six years ago, five years ago, I was an executive coach and I hated it. I'm like, if this is coaching, I don't want to be a part of it. I said, oh, OK, I know what I have to do, Curtis. You have to go back to your roots, what you what made you successful. Right. And find out my true identity. And my identity was hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming. And then I. added mental and emotional release. And so I take those three modalities and I created what we call the legit mindset. A legit mindset is all about learning, is actually identifying the scripts and the baggage that we're all carrying. We all carry some type of baggage. So number one, we have to learn what that baggage is. We uncover it so that now you're able to release it. Number two is the groin is stepping into that two-edged sword of change. This is the thing is that See, change is like this. You have to make a decision, either hold on to the baggage and allow it to continue to control you or let it go. And either way, you're making a decision. Now, what we do, we utilize mental and emotional release, which is a powerful modality that actually gets rid of sadness, guilt, shame, all these fears in less than 10 minutes each modality. So it's a quick growing state. Then we're expanding because now what I believe is what I call the universal capacity principle. And it's actually taken from Ephesians 3.20, where he says he is able to give us immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to the power that works within us. So once we clear this baggage out, now we have the capacity. To receive more, not just more, but immeasurably more. Speaker 3 (5:45) Unlimited abundance, my friend. Speaker 2 (5:46) Unlimited. Guess what? It's not out of, but it's according to. Speaker 3 (5:50) That's right. That Speaker 2 (5:51) means your success, Pat, has no bearing on my success. Speaker 3 (5:55) That's right. Speaker 2 (5:56) We can work in the same building. That's fine because it's not a limited source. Speaker 3 (6:04) Right. But Speaker 2 (6:05) in order for us to get there, Pat, we have to. Let go of the baggage. We have to get rid of the baggage. Speaker 3 (6:11) Yes. I agree with you. I agree. 100%. And everybody has it. Speaker 2 (6:18) Everybody has it. This is the thing. This is the thing. Everybody has baggage. Now, some people's baggage does not prevent them from being good, right? I mean, you can be good. I mean, you can do what you do and you can do a good job. Yeah. But usually people who come to work with me. or people who've been grinding now for 15 and 20 years, they've had success. I mean, they have the cars, they have the money, they have the houses, they have a great business, but something deep inside of them is preventing them from actually going to the next level. And that's the people who come to me because the transformation is not, I'm already successful. What is it that's stopping me, that's preventing me from actually being that seven figure in... seven figure guy versus the high six figure, right? And that's what we do. But the transforming part of it, this is important for the audience to understand. Once we get rid of baggage and you have now this new capacity, if you don't condition it. Just like anything else. I mean, you know, you know, what if you get in perfect condition? You've been working out, working out your perfect weight, your perfect height, meaning the height, your clothes is feeling great. Then you decided to get nutrition, to get working out, to get all those things. Guess what happened? You're going to go back to who you were. So what I created, what I created is, is bespoke daily mental supplements. These are curated audio meditations. specifically designed for you as an individual based on your learnings from your higher self that we've gotten from the sessions and from the mental and emotional release session. So the legit mindset, it actually utilizes the hypnotherapy, which is actually a state of trance. We do it on purpose with purpose so that we can actually create and rewrite these scripts. Right. So what Speaker 3 (8:19) we. Because you're touching on something that is border. Is that borderlining? So you go deep, right? You go into a subconscious state and you're kind of, you know, everybody out there knows it as manifesting. Speaker 1 (8:38) Right. Speaker 3 (8:39) So what you're hitting on is totally true. I want to back up a little bit because you said so much important stuff there. My success has nothing to do with your success. And that's a perfect reasoning of why people need to stop being jealous. You need to be happy for other people's success because it has nothing to do with your success. And that's another wall that you put up, right? That's another wall of jealousy and stuff because there's a lot of people that aren't happy. What you're talking about, I think I'm correct in saying, is your next level is already in there. Speaker 2 (9:18) Oh, absolutely. This is the thing about it. We're not actually, we're not creating a new person. Right. Think about it. When you came into this world, you came with all the resources you needed to navigate this environment. But along the way, we've been bombarded with negativity, with baggage, with all of this stuff that prevents us and we have lost our true identity. My job is to help you facilitate that in uncovering your true identity. And it's like when you made this pact with yourself before you came into this world, who you want to become, but we've lost our way. And so by now uncovering the baggage, now we created this capacity where you now can operate at your true identity. One of my things is that this is my thing. It's like, look. I'm looking for individuals who are looking for me. And being authentically Curtis is more than enough. So if if if when we when we become authentically who we are, that's when things start to gravitate to us, because that's what it's supposed to do. Speaker 3 (10:27) Oh, listen to me, my friend. Nobody's more authentic than Pat Miller. They will say to me, I had a guy tell me on the phone this morning, he goes, Pat, I always know where I stand with you. You just throw it out there. I said, look, I have zero interest in being somebody I'm not. Speaker 2 (10:45) I love it. The Speaker 3 (10:46) bad, the ugly. Look, we're all none of us are perfect. OK. And we had that conversation before the show. After my husband passed, I did a full scan of my entire person. Speaker 1 (11:00) And I Speaker 3 (11:01) accepted the good and the bad. And I learned to figure out when the bad. can be helpful because bad is not always bad, right? No, Speaker 2 (11:12) bad is not. Loud, Speaker 3 (11:13) boisterous, she's blunt, but sometimes that can help you. So you have to do a total, like you said, unpack it. You got to unpack who you are and you're right. There's a lot of static that holds us down. There's so much stuff from when we're children until we become adults. Everybody's in your ear, all kinds of things. All kinds of stuff going on behind the scenes. And those little things mold you, though. Speaker 2 (11:42) Oh, absolutely. That's who we become. Think about it like this. It's been proven that we have 11 million bits of information, sensory data coming to us every second, every minute. And we can only process consciously 50 bits of that information. So we're bombarded with information. Speaker 3 (12:05) But your subconscious pulls it in, even though you don't acknowledge it. Speaker 2 (12:09) Oh, well, you got 11 million bits. Consciously, you can only process 50 bits. And that's the whole idea. One thing, 50, five, zero. Speaker 3 (12:21) Whoa. And there's 11 million. Speaker 2 (12:24) There's 11 million. So that's Speaker 3 (12:26) a Speaker 2 (12:26) lot. This Speaker 3 (12:26) is Speaker 2 (12:26) the thing. So your perception of the world, Pat. It's your perception. Speaker 3 (12:33) It's Speaker 2 (12:34) not real. It's only real to you. And it's okay. I mean, that's okay. That's the part. But we have to understand is that if we're not, if we're not intentionally working on our subconscious, see, because think about it like this. Our behavior is 5 % conscious, 95 % subconscious. And the biology of beliefs by Dr. Bruce Lipton. That's a great book. Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton. He talks about this principle of 5 % versus 95%. That means that most coaches and most therapists and most people who talk about it, they're talking to the 50 bits. They're talking to the 5%. That's why it takes it so long to get the behavior change. I talk to the subconscious. I talk to the 95%. I'll tell you what, let's make a bet. If I said you can get 5 % or 95%, which one would you rather have? Speaker 3 (13:32) Really? Wow. Then the billable hours go down. Because, you know, most of them want you to keep coming back every week. Speaker 2 (13:43) I don't. I Speaker 3 (13:45) know. Speaker 2 (13:47) That's the whole idea. I want a short term relationship with you. Yeah. You want to help people. Speaker 3 (13:53) Yeah. Speaker 2 (13:53) I want to help people. And then what I'm going to do along the way. And we were talking to you right before the thing. My total engagement, right, with my clients 101 is about 18 hours. Speaker 3 (14:06) Wow. Speaker 2 (14:07) 18 hours. Speaker 3 (14:08) That's not bad. And we do Speaker 2 (14:10) more work in 18 hours than most people do in 10 years. Speaker 3 (14:13) Wow. So your audio is that. Speaker 3 (14:18) Is that recorded as though it's part of, I guess, what did you say, a self? Speaker 2 (14:25) Basically what it is, it's actually a short, what I've learned, I got a sweet spot, it's about seven minutes. What I do require my clients to listen to every night for the first 30 days, for sure. Speaker 3 (14:39) So is it part of Speaker 2 (14:40) the Speaker 3 (14:40) hypnotherapy? Self-discipline therapy? Speaker 2 (14:43) Yeah, basically what it is, is like if we had a session together, right? So basically the session, once we recorded our session and you told me that your anger is now a superpower that allows you to move forward in your life. So like I'm now, I have a recording. So I says, okay, Pat, go ahead and close your eyes, relax and allow yourself to go down deeper than you've ever done before. Right. Now, then I might have. Then I said, then I'm going to be embedding within you what you have already said, who you are, the true identity. When I'm saying it in more of a hypnotic type voice, where you now, you're becoming programmed with your own personal program. It's a powerful way of now, we've gotten rid of the baggage. We've gotten rid of the stuff that's, that backpack is now empty. But if we don't fill it with something, then it's going to refill with all this old junk that has always been a part of. So basically, we use these bespoke daily mental supplements that are nobody's the same. Speaker 3 (15:49) Because Speaker 2 (15:50) I create them based on you, no one else. Speaker 3 (15:54) That's amazing. I think you figured it out. Speaker 2 (15:57) And you know what? And I was thinking the other day, we were just talking on the air. I just finished another book, Soul's Journey. And man, I was saying, oh my God, I have figured it out. Speaker 3 (16:10) Yeah. Speaker 2 (16:10) But it didn't come by accident. I asked, I was asking God, that's my title, guys. So don't get upset. My label for source, you can call it source, you can call it universe, you
