Speaker 2 (0:06) to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright. Speaker 1 (0:21) AHHHHHHHHH Welcome in. Speaker 1 (0:34) Welcome to Tuesday. Speaker 1 (0:37) October 6th, the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. Mike Wright, Jason Moore, Andy Holloway. Speaker 1 (0:42) Waiver Day. Speaker 1 (0:45) Week four is over. Speaker 1 (0:52) We had a game. A lot of points. A lot of points. Man. I mean. Mostly good points. There were a few. Oh, the garbage. Oh, there was Speaker 3 (1:02) the stinkiest of garbage. I mean, Speaker 2 (1:05) there it was. It was dangerous garbage. Speaker 3 (1:07) That was Speaker 2 (1:08) that was that was like eating a tenderloin that had been left out all day. That's you would know something. I would know a little bit something. But if you hurt my Olave, if Olave is seriously hurt. Speaker 1 (1:17) I mean, I don't under 4524. You're down 4517. There's three, four minutes left in the game. Tyler Shuck has hurt his left hand at this point. There's no conceivable fashion in which you can come back in this game. Speaker 3 (1:31) No. Speaker 1 (1:31) And you end up. Speaker 3 (1:33) He's trying to get momentum, I guess. Speaker 1 (1:35) What was so weird about that final drive of the game, because I'm. So I was in a matchup with Jason in League of Shadows, another one of our leagues, and he needed like 17 points from Shuck and Vele to win. It was just like. I assumed going in, I'm going to win. Like Shuck should do that by himself. No Vele. And we're going into that final drive. I'm up a point. I'm up a point in this game. And the drive starts and it's handoff, handoff, handoff to C.J. Donaldson. Right? It's just, it's just, right? And by the way, he plays football for the Saints. Yeah. Because Kamara was banged up and you're like, okay, we'll take him off the field. Although Kamara came back in, scored a touchdown. Speaker 3 (2:14) Well, because Kendra was like, I got the butter hands. Kendra gets, any opportunity Kendra gets, he blows. They apparently. He has five fumbles already this year? It feels like 50. Is Speaker 2 (2:25) that Speaker 3 (2:25) true? That's what the graphics Speaker 2 (2:26) said. Speaker 3 (2:26) I mean, that's insane. Speaker 1 (2:27) That's every time you get the ball. He doesn't get the ball that much. It can't be five. That's Speaker 3 (2:31) impossible. Maybe five out of the last 15 carries. Maybe. I guess I see two, but maybe that's just two lost. Speaker 1 (2:37) But for those that weren't watching the end of this game because you had no reason to, C.J. Donaldson starts getting the football. And so it's obvious that if you're going to hand the ball off. the Saints are conceding. Yeah, we're on to week five. You don't hand the ball off a bunch of times. We're good. But then all of a sudden, it's like you get the third down. And the bombs. I mean, he threw a bomb down the sideline trying to get Vele, trying to get Olave. And then they drive down for the dirtiest, stinkiest garbage time stuff that I've ever seen. But what people don't know is, and maybe you do if you're watching it, but like Olave comes on a crossing pattern, gets tackled, hyperextends his right knee. It's as clear as day in the video. Now, it wasn't. It didn't look. Like, there was no guarantee that this is a major injury or anything, but Speaker 3 (3:19) he Speaker 1 (3:20) limps off the field. Yeah. What are you doing? And Speaker 2 (3:22) this is not revisionist history or hindsight being 2020. We were all in slack like, please. Why is Olave on the field? Stop it. Why are these players? Why is Shuck on the field? I Speaker 3 (3:35) love some Shuck points, but this is dumb. Speaker 2 (3:36) Yeah, you've got to put the backups in and move on to the next week with your guys healthy. You're a team that is. trying to compete in a winnable division and man, to put that risk out there. I mean, look, if it goes well, fantasy wise, yay. We'll take garbage points, but not at that cost. Yeah, Speaker 1 (3:59) this is crazy. And, you know. Speaker 1 (4:03) Atlanta's a different team. Speaker 2 (4:04) Oh, yeah. Who is this Speaker 1 (4:06) team? This team is, if you want to know the if this, then that implications of a quarterback change, look no further than the Atlanta Falcons. People don't realize that it's not just like, hey, your offense kind of sucks. Like, if your defense gets a break, guess what? You're a better defense. You can rush the passer. You can blitz more often. You can keep teams honest. You know what they need to do because your offense is a threat. Or if your Speaker 2 (4:32) defense is. having to come on the field in their own red zone because the offense turned it over. The quarterback Speaker 1 (4:39) changes everything for these Speaker 2 (4:41) teams. Speaker 1 (4:41) Did you see the stat, by the way? It was... The first two games of the season, Atlanta was the worst offense in football. The last two weeks of the season, they are the best offense in football. That is an insane. 35 points and 45 points the Speaker 2 (4:54) last two weeks scored by Atlanta. Play Speaker 1 (4:57) action is just a machine now with Bijan and then Brian Robinson. I was up by like 6,000 points to Mike. There was a point in that game when it started the way it did with Bijan that I was like. Is this a 60-point game for Bijan coming? Speaker 2 (5:10) Yeah, you were basically up by 60. No, I was up 80. Yeah, not worried. And then it's like the way that started. But the other B. Robinson bailed you out. Yes. And scored three Speaker 3 (5:21) touchdowns. That was frustrating. That was very, very frustrating. Yeah, Speaker 1 (5:27) I mean, it was absolutely, it was a crazy game. And, you know, I think Olave is a machine. B. John is a machine. Drake London with Penix is a machine. If you bought low on any of those things. I know that the quarterback helps get Speaker 3 (5:45) your defense in check. Speaker 3 (5:48) It wasn't completely the offense's fault that they got throttled by the Carolina Panthers in week two. They lost 3-34. That's not on the offense. It's just weird. This team has truly transformed. The Saints, my Saints, look, I have enough losing in my life, New Orleans. If you would like to continue to be my team, I need you to fix it. Speaker 1 (6:18) Yeah, it was a crazy game, and they're 1-3. The New Orleans Saints, for all the good that we've seen, is 1-3 at this point in time, Mike. All right, let's talk news. Speaker 2 (6:33) News and notes from around the league. Speaker 1 (6:38) So, yeah, you'll have to monitor Chris Olave with the potential knee injury and, you know, shake your fist at the sky if he's hurt. Yeah. Also, Speaker 3 (6:47) Chuck, just start running. What happened to that? Speaker 1 (6:50) Where did that guy go? Speaker 3 (6:51) I don't. Because this is the thing, like. The touchdown, Shuck played okay. I mean, he got the one garbage touchdown, but the touchdowns went to Kamara. So when that happens, it's like if you aren't running, then it's brutal. But that was very bizarre that he didn't. Speaker 1 (7:10) My concern. Speaker 2 (7:11) 63 % completion percentage, 286 yards, no interceptions. They Speaker 1 (7:15) did a good Speaker 2 (7:15) job of Speaker 1 (7:15) setting the edge, to be honest. I felt like. Two weeks ago, I said I'm very worried about the Saints offense because of the fact that Speaker 3 (7:22) the offensive line and Speaker 1 (7:24) the injury to A-chan was compounding it. Say what you want about A-chan. Donaldson? Yeah. Alvin Kramer had 23 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns. Donaldson is the next man up after that. Kendrick Miller fumbles everything. If you don't have a running game. Speaker 1 (7:41) C, C, colon, Green Bay Packers. If you don't have a running game and you don't have an offensive line, which is what both of those team situations are, guess what? You've got two troubled teams, right? Are the Packers 1-3? Or are they 2-2? I Speaker 3 (7:56) don't remember. But, Speaker 1 (7:57) I mean, both of these teams have the same problem. Should Speaker 3 (7:59) be Speaker 1 (7:59) 2. Speaker 3 (8:00) But the pass rush, Speaker 1 (8:01) there was a point in this game where Tyler Schuch, yeah, they're 2-2. There was a point in the game where Tyler Schuch just looked skittish to me. Because he knew what was coming. He was getting squished. And he played, I think, as good as you can play with that situation. He was willing to take massive hits, but you've got injury risk now on the table for him. You talk about don't want to run the football. I mean, like him, like I get it. You're probably tired from getting up. Lamar Jackson, ankle. Outside chance to play in week five. Could miss multiple games, but injury is not considered long-term or surgical. Speaker 2 (8:32) This seems like the classic high ankle sprain, which the... The data says you basically either miss no games or three games. So hopefully he's back this week. I will say that you would expect when he gets back him to not be quite as mobile, which is a shame because he was playing outstanding. I mean, even this Speaker 3 (8:52) last Speaker 2 (8:52) week, you look and it's like, oh, he had a good fantasy game. He played half the game. He would have been the quarterback one on the week if he got a second half. So be healthy, Lamar. Speaker 1 (9:04) Ben Johnson said Tyson Bajent will start in week five against the Packers as we wait for Caleb's return. Secret Bajent man getting another start. Speaker 1 (9:14) Bears are 3-1. Yeah, they're doing all right. Saquon Barkley week to week with a hamstring injury. Tank Bigsby is on IR. Speaker 3 (9:22) Yeah, that Speaker 1 (9:22) escalated quickly. Core muscle repair surgery. Core muscle number two with one guy with a pre-hernia. That's the report on. Wink. He doesn't have a hernia. Yeah, it's not a hernia. It's just like a pre-hernia. I don't have diabetes. I Speaker 2 (9:38) have Speaker 1 (9:38) a couple pre-hernias myself. I've got pre-diabetes. I think we all have pre-hernias at Speaker 2 (9:42) this Speaker 1 (9:42) point. Speaker 3 (9:42) That's true. At any moment. Picking up something heavy. Yeah. Yeah. I'm Speaker 2 (9:47) pre Speaker 1 (9:47) -hernia for sure. I'm ready to have a hernia at any moment. At any time. Seahawks are signing Joe Mixon. He is going to join the Seahawks. So you will now have a Mixon, Salami, Emmanuel Wilson, waiver day today, we'll talk about it, and Jadarian Price on IR. And Charbonnet. And Charbonnet. I forgot. There's five. Speaker 3 (10:08) You know what they say when you have five running backs. You've got five. You've got five. It is very bizarre for Joe Mixon to launch incredible work by Joe Mixon's PR team of putting out that hype video of him being the one like, what happened to Joe Mixon? He's like, you could have told us. And then immediately. That Speaker 2 (10:32) team's Speaker 1 (10:32) like, you got signed the next day after that video. He really did. Speaker 2 (10:35) You know what I want to have happen more than. Anything. I want for the first time ever this version of the Seahawks to have a workhorse. And it's just Joe Mixon. Joe Mixon is the guy that comes in and gets all the work. Speaker 1 (10:48) What's funny is that, and I'll wait. Let's wait to have the conversation around Emmanuel Wilson in the waiver show. But I have thoughts about what's going to happen here. I will be wrong. T. Higgins is day-to-day with his adductor. Strange Amar Chase is in the concussion protocol. And here's the thing. We're going into week five. Mike already, that's what Mike's sound. Give me that sound again, Mike. So listen, the Cincinnati Bengals have a week six bye. So concussion protocol is a, it's a tough achievement on a one week basis. Speaker 3 (11:19) Yeah. That's kind of its own thing of like, if Chase clears, he'll be fine. it's T. Higgins that's the bigger problem. Speaker 2 (11:25) Well, but they probably are going to need these wide receivers to beat the, oh, it's the Dolphins. Okay. To me, it's Speaker 1 (11:33) like if Chase is on the edge here. Oh, crap. And you've been winning with your defense. I don't know. You could definitely secure a couple of injury situations by giving them the bye week. I don't know. I mean, we saw Speaker 3 (11:45) what happened to the Vikings. They were like, we're going to go without Justin Jefferson. They barely beat the Dolphins. Oh, Speaker 1 (11:51) I thought you were going to say they won. They did. They did. It worked fine. It didn't work fine. It was very close. Hey, look, Sticky Gets Sticky this week against Miami. If one of those Speaker 3 (12:00) guys is out, then yes. Wasn't it Speaker 1 (12:02) Hawkinson with 13 catches against Miami last week? Yeah. So something to pay attention to here on the waivers. All right, ESPN's Adam Schmefter reporting Broncos. Some Speaker 3 (12:14) guy. Speaker 1 (12:14) Some guy we don't know. Pat Bryant will miss a few weeks suffering a sprained ankle. That is Speaker 3 (12:20) positive news because the mechanism of the injury was like, this might be the year. Speaker 1 (12:27) Yeah, so they got good news on him and Pat Sertan in terms of not being season-ending injuries. Tank Dell will have his practice window opened this week for the 0-4 Speaker 2 (12:37) Texans. This is wonderful. I mean, it's just like if he gets back and plays football on a weekly basis, this isn't. Forget fantasy. We're way off from having him be relevant. Just the human. If he gets back and plays football on a regular basis, what a great thing. Speaker 1 (12:55) Oh, here we go. Cardinals. Paris Johnson, their left tackle tore his bicep, will be out for the year. But also, Jeremiah Love tweaked his other ankle in the week four loss. So, you know, that's a bit of an answer to the... post-game press conference where we were talking about yesterday, he was like, put somebody else in, and then he didn't get a snap on the final drive, and we were like, what are you doing? Speaker 2 (13:20) That's what they were doing. Speaker 1 (13:21) That would make... This is good news. And this is my fault, because he was my trade for candidate, and I already have three of my guys in an MVP. Stop killing everybody! Three of my guys in an MVP out, and so I bring up Jeremiah Love's name, and he's like, I got two ankles I can Speaker 3 (13:35) hurt. Speaker 1 (13:35) You gotta go all in on Deshaun Watson, man. Speaker 2 (13:37) You Speaker 1 (13:38) gotta... Speaker 2 (13:40) You've got to claim them. Bright days ahead, right, Andy? I mean, I signed Jamar Speaker 3 (13:44) Chase in our chop league, and Speaker 1 (13:47) he got a concussion instantly. Speaker 2 (13:49) Sorry, Speaker 1 (13:50) Mike. That's all right. You were collateral
