That was a clip from the season premiere of The Real Houses of New York. That's right. We're covering The Real Houses of New York this season, or at least we're going to dip our toes in to the pond because I'm excited for this season. I thought the premiere was great. You guys know I have not cared for the reboot at all. Speaker 1 (1:05) I have been a staunch hater of the first two seasons of The Running Reboot because I think they have been selling us a bill of goods that were not good. They were selling us a TV show that was terrible, and I was not going to be bamboozled by it. However— I'm very excited about this upcoming season of The Real House in New York because it feels like they got a little bit of the quirky back. And to me, that was what was missing most. Not only did I feel like the group that we had the last couple of seasons were not friends, which they weren't. They were cast together on a show. And we do know that it's always best when it's already an established relationship of a group of people. However, it seems like we still don't really have that authentic connection between the women. Seems like we're still missing that. However, we got the quirky back, which is all I need from the real house is New York. I need people like Daisy Haley, who was, I mean, just in the clip that I played you, she was in a scene with Aaron and that she didn't remember what was in the scene. She forgot what she was doing in the scene because she was so high. She blacked out. Speaker 2 (2:03) In all honesty, I blacked out because like I get tired at night. Speaker 1 (2:09) It made me so happy we have Martha Stewart appearances. They're really leaning into the sex and the city of it all. Carol's back. Inexplicably, Carol got an apple back. Now, the thing that's so interesting to me about Carol is that they're really leaning into the sex and city of it all. And so we're seeing Carol, she in the opening credits or the opening scene is doing a voiceover a la Carrie Bradshaw. And just like that, all the group of women were together again in New York. And she's given this whole... narration on New York. She says, every great love story begins somewhere. This one begins in New York City, famous for its skyline, its culture, and the people who call it home. It's a collection of a million of stories where every street holds a chance to dream bigger, to chase the impossible, to lose everything and start again. It doesn't ask us to be perfect. It asks us to be bold. There are countless cities in the world, but there's only one, New York. Speaker 1 (3:03) I felt like I wanted to sing like Liza with a Z. I feel like I should be singing New York, New York, which by the way, I was the other night. I'm sorry to just throw that note into the microphone like that and hurt your ears. If anyone's listening via headphones or if you're new to the podcast, I apologize. But my singing is not good. However, I was just singing New York, New York recently because I was watching an old episode of the Rosie O'Donnell show where Liza was on post 9-11. And she was singing New York, New York. And so that's where I'm at right now. I'm celebrating New York right now. And I, yes, I love the carols opening and the voiceover narration. My one kind of concern with the carol of it all is that she was up to a full-time cast member. I believe like either. Post-mid-season, so she was originally just supposed to be a friend of. She was supposed to be a supporting cast member on this show. She wasn't supposed to be a main cast member. She was brought back in a supporting role. And it was announced by the network, by Carol, like, I'm going to be coming back to the Real House in New York as a friend this season. So I'm going to be dipping in and out or whatever. And then they upped her to full-time. I guess she was having a good season. They were like, let's give her an apple. Now, the thing that concerns me is, obviously, She wasn't a full-time cast member in the beginning, so we didn't have her the rest of the episode. She just opened the episode with her voiceover, which was great. But then we had the full cast party at the end of the episode, and it's like, where's Carol? And there's no explanation for it because she was not filming that much that time. And so I feel like that's a little wonky, and I don't love that. And I'm hopeful that it's just like that for the premiere. And then going forth, we'll mix it a little bit better. I don't know, maybe edit it properly so that it doesn't feel like Carol's missing for multiple episodes if she is going to be a main-time cast member. The other thing that's interesting is she had that big feud with Andy, and now they've seemingly made up, and I just saw them doing an interview together about this new season of The Realist in New York. And so I'm so happy that they're friends again because it always made me sad that they weren't. And if you remember, I've been doing this podcast now. We're entering our 10th year, which is craziness. But when I started the podcast, it was back when Carol was still on The Real Housewives of New York. And she had that big feud with Bethany. And then the network ended up keeping Bethany and getting rid of Carol. And I was Team Carol at the time. I was Team Carol. And a lot of people were sending me very rough text messages and DMs about my loyalty to Carol at the time over Bethany. I was getting a lot of heat. A lot of heat. I was getting called slurs on social media. Speaker 1 (5:32) To me, it was one of those first seasons of The Real Housewives where it was like a team. There were two teams. It was one of those early versions of that where it's like if you were on Team Bethany, then everyone who was on Team Bethany, if you were on Team Carol, they were brutal to you online and vice versa. It was like the fandoms were fighting and Bethany got a lot of people on her side. And I think now that a lot of time has passed, maybe people feel differently about Bethany. It's certainly... Speaker 1 (5:56) Certainly the network feels differently about Bethany because the network had issues with Bethany and Andy has issues with Bethany. Bethany tried to do a reality reckoning and she kept going on social media and being like, there's a reality reckoning happening. And then there was no reality reckoning happening. And then she opened up a store where she sold some bagels. I don't know if anyone followed that. It was a recent thing where she opened up a little, she called it Supermodel Cafe. And then she went to Burning Man and closed down the Supermodel Cafe. Everything she does feels so manic right now on social media. By the way, it's a me issue, too. It's a me problem because I've been watching all of it. Speaker 4 (6:31) It's your problem. Speaker 1 (6:32) It's my problem, in the words of Dorinda Bentley. But, you know, we got the OG Roni cast is going to be coming back in The Golden Life, which is going to be airing on E! And I've heard really great things about that. It was picked up for a second season before the first season even began airing because they think the network is having some faith in it. So we're excited about that. And now we get the Roni reboot as well. And it seems like maybe, perhaps, possibly, they have worked out a lot of the issues that have been going on with the Roni reboot. Specifically, they got rid of a lot of people. They got rid of Jenna Lyons. They got rid of Brynn. They got rid of Uba. Who else was on there? There was Raquel. There was like a handful of people that they just were like, okay, you're fired. You're fired. And then they brought in some new people. And the new people made me really happy. And seeing Carol in the new cast holding the apple. Although, like, what the fuck is Carol wearing in that? Do you know what I'm talking about in that shot in the opening credits where the cast are all holding the apple? Do you see what, what is Carol wearing in that? What is, I mean, the only shot we got of Carol, because otherwise it was just her doing the narration voiceover. And then we got the one shot of Carol, and I'm like, what is she wearing? And she's, everyone's standing sort of so awkwardly, which I understand I would be too if I was having to, like, I don't even think they hold a real apple. Don't they CGI the apple in? Maybe I'm making that up. Speaker 2 (7:46) Anyway, we Speaker 1 (7:47) see Daisy, one of our new cast members, getting in the car with her dog. She's got a driver named Dale. Dale. I do miss Dale. Tinsley's mother, Dale. Every day of my life. Not just on this show, but spiritually. I don't know what's going on with Dale. I do not know if she's on social media. I don't follow her on social media, although I should because I'm just thinking, like, every single day I kind of think, at least probably once a week. I'd say once a week I think to myself, what's going on with Dale? How is Dale? Where is Dale? What's new with Dale? And I suppose I could get that information just by going on social media and following her, but I don't know. There's something about the mystery of it. Maybe I do like that. Maybe I like the mystery of not knowing what's up with Dale. Speaker 2 (8:30) Dale. Speaker 1 (8:31) May Dale be resting in peace. And she's not, she's not passed, but I hope she's just resting somewhere on like a couch watching this episode of The Real House in New York and thinking I should be on that. And she's not. I wish they would bring her in. They do bring in Martha Stewart because Daisy works with Martha Stewart. So they're bringing out the big guns and opening this show with not only the voice from Carol, but then also having Martha Stewart appear. It's like they are doing everything they got to do to edit the shit out of these episodes. They know it's three strikes and they're out. They've already had two flop reboot seasons. They can't have another flop reboot season. And so I'm holding on to that hope. Although I say that as someone who thought going into the Real Houses of Orange County season 20 that we'd have a good season, and it turns out it's one of the worst they've ever had. And I thought for sure they would do everything in their power at the network level to make sure that the 20th season of the OG Housewife franchise would be good, and yet they haven't done that. And so maybe I'm giving them too much credit with the Real Housewives of New York saying that they're going to have to edit a good season. And so we're going to have to wait and see. Because every time I think it's going to be good, then it's bad, and then sometimes I think it's going to be bad, and then it's good. It's like, ah, my head's spinning. My head's spinning. And I haven't... Speaker 1 (9:51) I don't know. I saw a lot of people praising this premiere episode. And by the way, it was really good. It was a great episode, great premiere episode. But the premiere episodes are usually pretty good. And then it's when it's episode three, four, five that it flops off. But, you know, we're hopeful. We're hopeful. And seeing Martha Stewart on the rails in New York, you guys. Speaker 3 (10:08) Sister, yes. Speaker 1 (10:11) We're arriving. She ate a bagel. Daisy's her makeup artist, and she learned makeup at Scores Gentleman Club, and that's where she met Psy. And this is a connection that I'm actually very interested in and feels real because there was a picture from like, I don't know, 2003 or 2003 or something when I was still in high school. They were up at the Scores Gentleman Club, and they were party girls, party gals, and I don't know what was going on at that. I wish we could get some eyes and ears on that. I don't know if they have some security camera footage of 2003 because it sounds like her and Psy got into mischief. And I would like to know what kind of mischief they were getting into. What were they mischievous? Because I need to know. And so I don't know if we could access some of that footage. I don't know how long it saves on the servers over at the scores gentlemen club, but I would like to see, I don't need to see the nudity because it sounds like it was a, a bubby bar. Speaker 1 (10:57) I think it was a Bubby Bar. But I'm not interested in the Bubbies. I'm just interested in the behind-the-scenes mechanics. It's like watching the movie Hustlers. I don't need to see J.Lo dancing on a pole. I'm sure she's great at it, but I do want to see the interpersonal dynamics between her and Kiki Palmer and the gal from Riverdale and the one from Fresh Off the Boat. So that's what I do need. I need all those actresses. I need to know what's going on behind the scenes of the Bubby Bar. Speaker 1 (11:24) But I don't think we're going to get that footage. But I like the connection. It does feel like what I was saying earlier about an authentic connection. Like, you need that on these shows. Now, Martha, she brings up also Love Story, the TV show on FX. And Daisy was reading What Remains. So they're talking a little bit about Carol. Carol wrote the book What Remains. Obviously, Carol was – there's the JFK. Like, they're sort of leaning into that. And that makes me think that that's the reason why Carol was up to a full-time cast member. Because there was this renewed interest in the Carolyn and JFK Jr. saga with that FX show, which I loved. I watched every episode of that FX show. Now, I thought it was fantastic. I thought the styling was good. I think they need to do a show about the Calvin Klein offices. But it was really, really great. And Martha was watching it. And I was trying to do in my head, like, I kind of feel like, I hate to. Go to Inside Baseball about this. But I'm pretty sure this episode was like edited so out of order because not only do we have that Carol voiceover opening, but then having Martha talk about how she was watching Love Story. I was pretty sure they started filming like way before Love Story started airing. So it seems like they're just jumping around. But see, that's the thing that worries me is because it's all out of order. And so. They're putting a lot of the juicy stuff up front. So they're putting Martha talking about watching that show at the very beginning of the episode, even though that probably was filmed way later in the season. Speaker 3 (12:54) Am I making sense? Speaker 1 (12:56) But I'm hopeful. Now, Martha also says that she was with JFK Jr. the Monday before they died. On Friday, they had dinner to talk about the magazine stuff because Martha had the magazine. They really were giving everyone a magazine. JFK Jr. had that magazine. Martha had the magazine. Rosie O'Donnell had the magazine. Everybody had a magazine back then. And that's good. Have I told you guys I'm back in the magazine train? Yeah, I just recently subscribed to Better Homes and Gardens. And I'm happy about it. I love getting the physical magazine in the mail. And I want to start doing more because I have fun flipping through it. It's something about having the physical thing in your hands. And even though 99 % of it is just like GLP-1 ads now in these magazines. Every page you flip, it just is like an ad for Sky Rizzy
