Speaker 2 (0:00) Were you fascinated by mummies, Greek gods, and Atlantis as a kid? Two kids like you grew up to co-host a podcast called Spirits, Mythology, Legends, and Folklore. Do you remember when we recorded our Koschei episode and I said I listened to a podcast episode Speaker 1 (0:17) on Koschei the Deathless, Speaker 2 (0:20) like the actual figure in Slavic folklore? I do. Because I thought, oh crap. Ronnie did so much more prep than I did. It was very passive prep. It was passive prep. But Spirits does have an episode on Crochet the Deathless. Seems very relevant at the moment. Spirits is a weekly podcast where mythology buff Julia explains a different story. from ancient myth or modern folklore to her childhood best friend, Amanda. They examine these stories through a queer feminist lens, drawing parallels to modern life and asking why these stories still matter to us as human beings. It's like a cocktail party where you get to learn something, laugh a lot, and think about death, but, like, in a fun way. I have fun. So listen to Spirits, Mythology, Legends, and Folklore in your podcast app every Wednesday. You can search their archive. They have over 500 episodes out. as they say on Spirits, Speaker 1 (1:12) stay creepy, stay cool. But was that the purpose of these amulets was as a way back home for potentially world-walking priestesses. And that's why the books are so valuable too, because they contain knowledge, not just of Midgard, but of other worlds as well. And that is why Apollyon is after them because they are a very, very, very valuable library, in fact. Speaker 2 (1:47) Mostly because like I am in awe of how big of a fuck up that was. Speaker 1 (1:53) All right. Hold on. Let's back up. Let's put some context on this because people are going to get it. We would say three more sentences and Speaker 2 (2:00) they would get it. Speaker 1 (2:03) All right. So for our listeners, hello, we are back. It is lovely to be here. We are excited to be here. Yesterday was possibly the most chaotic day in the history of book talk, bookstagram. I don't even know how to describe what happened. I was like, Speaker 2 (2:19) I can't even be here anymore. I had to excuse myself. We Speaker 1 (2:23) had not one, but two leaks for our upcoming releases this fall. We're going to I mean, I'm sure you agree with me on this blanket statement. We are not going to talk about what was in those leaks because they were Speaker 2 (2:34) leaks. We don't condone leaks. And we don't Speaker 1 (2:36) do that here. Yeah. But the magnitude of this fuck up, the mechanisms for which this happened are awe inspiring, jaw Speaker 2 (2:45) dropping. Like what the fuck happened here? So the thing that blows my mind about the threshing day leak. is that it was leaked against the actual audiobook record. Like when I went back to click what I had been listening to, because I listened to it, I did. I will come clean. Like I didn't know that it was a leak. Speaker 1 (3:05) I Speaker 2 (3:06) did not know that it was a leak because it was against the actual audiobook. And when I went back after they had taken it down and I clicked back to what I was listening to, it was the unreleased audiobook. And I was like, how, how does this happen? Speaker 1 (3:20) Okay, so what happened was... What do you mean by intentional? Like, I think there was a human behind it. Like, a human did that. I don't think it was just like a bug, you know, in the code. But what happened was, I can't remember if it was on the Discord. I cannot remember how the information made its way to me. But someone said the trailer for the Threshing Day audiobook is posted. And it is a POV of a character. that we have already gotten confirmed is going to be in the book, right? So I listened to it because it's literally the trailer and you're like, oh, it's a trailer. That makes sense. You wouldn't think that this is a leak. You would think that this is part of planned promotional material for the book, right? It is a trailer on an unreleased audio book, which I've seen before. Like I've seen things like that for forever for like podcast seasons that aren't released, right? Like they put trailers out ahead of time. So I listened to it. I'm going to tell you guys right now, I'm not going to tell you what was in it, but oh my fucking God, it was so good. It made me so excited for this book. I was really excited. I was like, this is great promotional material. Like this is going to be so good. And then we did make content about it because it looked, it was real, right? It looked real. It was Speaker 2 (4:32) from Spotify. It looked real. It didn't look like. On the Threshing Day Wings and Claw Edition audio book with Rebecca Yaros as the author. Like it was really. It was impossible to tell, honestly, that that was a leak until you went to Rebecca's Instagram and saw that she was Speaker 1 (4:48) upset Speaker 2 (4:49) about it. Exactly. And Speaker 1 (4:51) as soon as we found that out, we took everything down. Everything's down. Speaker 2 (4:54) I Speaker 1 (4:54) was literally in a wedding in rural Virginia. I was like, I have to find Wi-Fi right now. I have to take care of this. I can't let Speaker 2 (5:01) this be up. I Speaker 1 (5:01) was at a house showing Speaker 2 (5:01) and I was like, oh, shit. One second, please. The real estate agent was like, okay. Speaker 2 (5:08) Of Speaker 1 (5:08) course, obviously, obviously, if it's not something Rebecca wants in the world, we don't want to be putting it out in the world. Right. We don't want to be doing that. I would never I would never want to do that. I would never knowingly do that. Right. I think what probably happened with Rebecca's case is that this is the real trailer. This is the real trailer that is going to be played with with the audio book. Right. Because it was it was very good. And that's I don't know, someone someone leaked it. I don't I didn't do a deep forensic. analysis on this. So this is hearsay. So if I get this wrong, I apologize. I did hear that this came from RB Media, this original clip. I don't know if that's true. I did hear that. And we do know that later in the day, RB Media also released an audio book clip of A Court of Splintered Harmony. We did not get a response from Sarah J. Mass's camp on whether or not that was a leak or not. But we did. But we do know that it was later taken down. Right. So it seems like we have gotten two. major leaks, potentially from the same source, of two of the biggest books in this genre, in this sphere, in one day. And it feels really fucking weird. It feels really fucking weird. I don't really know what to make of that. Like, it's hard to believe that this was all an accident, right? Like the threshing day thing. OK, I could see that happening. That could be an accident. But for it to be both of them is really fucking strange. And I just don't really know what to make of it. Yeah, it's crazy. Speaker 2 (6:29) I found out about the threshing day one first and I found out that it was a leak first. And then I heard through like the discord was popping off and everything was popping off about the ACADAR 6-1. And I was like, I'm not even touching this because I don't even know. Like, I have no idea what's going on at this point. And it's kind of crazy. Like, you can't even. Well, it's it is crazy that the actual publishers, like the proper channels for this material, are releasing them off schedule and like seemingly mistakenly. Yeah. Kind of wild. So yikes. Big yikes. I feel bad for Rebecca if the Agatar 6 one was in fact a leak and a mistake, which it seems to be. I feel bad for Sarah. It sucks. I Speaker 1 (7:11) feel terrible. Like it's I understand. I understand feeling like completely out of control and like you can't control the narrative anymore. And like people stole this from you and took this from you. And that totally sucks. I think that's really terrible. Speaker 2 (7:23) Yeah. Speaker 1 (7:24) It's really shitty. And I don't know. I don't know what we as the public, as consumers of this media, are supposed to do when we have something like Spotify, right? Something that we trust like Spotify releasing this audio. Speaker 2 (7:38) Yeah. Speaker 1 (7:39) Wild. Speaker 2 (7:39) Wild. Speaker 1 (7:40) I'm like, Speaker 2 (7:40) I don't even want Speaker 1 (7:41) to open my phone. I don't want to open my phone. No, I mean, look, I'm not going to blame any creator because we did it too. I'm not going to blame any creator who posted. For the leaked stuff? No. For the leaked stuff. Yeah. If you still have it up. after the author has expressed the desire for it to not be talked about, I, you know, I think maybe you should examine your choices and decide if that's something you really still want to have out there. But it looked so legit at first that I understand we did it right. That I understand that it's like, Oh my God, like this is really exciting. It was really exciting. It was very, I was very excited. I thought it was great. And I was really. Like, oh my God, this is going to be so good. I cannot wait to read this book, right? Speaker 2 (8:25) Yeah. Speaker 1 (8:25) So bit of a kerfuffle. In the meantime, Rebecca has been releasing, I'm sure you guys are aware, posts of quotes from dragons and she's basically doing Guess the Dragon, which is very fun. Those have been great so far. But all Speaker 2 (8:37) in all, we've got about two, two and a half weeks Speaker 1 (8:39) till the Threshing Day release. Hopefully nothing like this happens again. I think that would be so incredibly shitty. I'm not going to, unless it's coming from Rebecca's mouth at this point, I'm not going to talk about anything. Basically, like, we're shutting it down here. Speaker 2 (8:52) Yeah. Speaker 1 (8:53) But... Wild. I'm excited. I think it's going to be a great release. And hopefully things go smoothly. But like, oh my God, why is this so chaotic? Yeah. Yeah. Crazy. Yeah. Truly. Speaker 2 (9:07) Yeah. Speaker 1 (9:08) All right. And with that, I'm Abby. I'm Ronnie. And this is Dragons in the Details. Back from a summer hiatus, the podcast that helps you better understand your favorite fantasy books through a series of deep dive episodes. This season, we are covering Crescent City, which you guys know by now because we are approaching the end of our season, guys, because we have some new releases coming up very soon, as we just discussed. So we're going to get into what our coverage of that is going to look like in a little bit. Hang with us for that. Disclaimer, this episode will contain Crescent City and ACOTAR spoilers, all eight published books as of, we have on here July, it's now September, September 26. Speaker 2 (9:51) Oops. Disclaimer, Speaker 1 (9:52) this podcast is rated R, spicy books, spicy words. Each week we dive into a specific topic in depth. This week we are diving into the sneaky, powerful priestess turned sorceress and second in command of House of Flame and Shadow. Well, she was second in command of House of Flame and Shadow. She's now R.I.P. R.I.P. Speaker 2 (10:11) However, Speaker 1 (10:11) I Speaker 2 (10:12) still think she's a very important character and I'm very much looking forward to talking about her. Jezebel Roga. Speaker 1 (10:18) We come with receipts. We have quotes to back up our theory so you can follow along if you are skeptical. Sidebar, I also just realized I have no idea if I'm pronouncing that name correctly. Like, should we do a quick check? I don't even know how. Jezebel Roga? Jezebel Speaker 2 (10:29) Roga. I feel confident in Jezebel, but... You Speaker 1 (10:33) know what? Speaker 2 (10:33) Fuck it. It's fine. Speaker 1 (10:34) Jezebel Roga. Speaker 2 (10:36) Yeah, I think we're good. The phonetic pronunciation says Jess, capital Jess, Iba, Ro, capital R-O-H, go. So I feel good. I think it's Speaker 1 (10:47) Jezebel Roga. Speaker 2 (10:48) Jezebel Roga. All Speaker 1 (10:49) right, Rhonda, you want to do announcements? Yes. Speaker 2 (10:51) As always, Deep Dive Music brought to you by Shwoodley. Check them out on Spotify if you like our Deep Dive Music. All right. Here's where we talk about schedule. As you just heard us discuss in our little intro section. Intro rant. Today's intro rant. Intro rant. Intro tirade. We have Threshing Day by Rebecca Yaros coming out. September 29th. We covered Empyrean Series before we covered anything else. So we will have a couple Speaker 1 (11:20) more. Speaker 2 (11:20) Yeah, Speaker 1 (11:20) a Speaker 2 (11:20) lot of you might not know this. Yeah, a lot of you may not know this. Speaker 1 (11:23) This was our first love, Empyrean. Yeah. Speaker 2 (11:25) We started by covering the Empyrean Series. So we will have a couple more Deep Dive episodes on Crescent City. Then we will take a couple weeks, couple episodes to properly appreciate the release of Threshing Day on our, on the... Monday episodes ahead of the ACOTAR 6 release. So if you also read Empyrean, this should be great news. If you haven't, I would recommend it. It's lovely. We are still sorting out the exact plan, but we will likely do a couple episodes on the main feed talking about Threshing Day and then anything else that we want to get into more, we will cover on Patreon. It's hard to say without having read the book yet. comes out in a couple weeks. But that's our rough plan. And then we will hop over to ACOTAR 6 because it will be time for that. So that's all very exciting. Speaker 1 (12:13) Our plan, guys, our main hope, because we always want to bring you as much content as we can on this feed, is that anything big that we learn about during Threshing Day, I can't promise you everything, but the big things. For example, we know we're getting a Zayden chapter. We're going to cover the Zayden chapter on this feed, right? We know that we're getting that and that's going to be posted free on Rebecca Yarris' website if you guys did not know because she says there's important information in there. That we are going to talk about on the main feed. Other chapters, if we think that they're super important, super relevant, we're going to try to cover on the main feed as well. But we do want to talk about the book as a whole and we do want to really dive into the details on some of these things so that anything that we think may not be as relevant is going to go on the Patreon. We're still going to talk about it. We're trying to get you guys as much content as we can, but we do also have a huge ACOTAR 6 release coming about four weeks after. So we don't have all the time in the world here, unfortunately, but we're going to do the best that we can while trying to bring you guys the in-depth analysis that we are Speaker 2 (13:10) known Speaker 1 (13:10) for and that we think Speaker 2 (13:11) you guys Speaker 1 (13:11) love. Hopefully you love Speaker 2 (13:12) it. Speaker 1 (13:13) Yeah. Speaker 2 (13:14) So that is that. We've got a couple more deep dives. Then we've got a couple Threshing Day episodes. TBD what they're about. We've not read the book, but we plan to cover some Threshing Day here, the core Threshing Day stuff here, and then more on Patreon. And then we'll go to Ektar 6, which we're very, very excited about. All of it. Very excited about all of it. It's gonna be great. Gonna be great. Other big news. We are hosting our first live show ever. Those tickets are on sale. I don't know whether they're sold out yet. Podcast time is weird, but they're on sale. I don't know. They're on sale at this point. So that event will be an ACOTAR 6 live reaction show on October 30th at P &T Knitwear in Manhattan in New York City. Yeah, tickets are on sale. Come hang out. It'll be very fun. And finally, submit your fun questions to us this season and probably all seasons going forward because you're so much better at it than we are. We're answering your fun questions. So submit fun questions to us via the contact form on our website. Instagram or TikTok DM, comment sections. We love answering your fun questions. They're great. That's all I got. Back to you. All Speaker 1 (14:22) right. Fun question. Audible, guys. We're audibling the fun question, but we have one. It's great. So this is from Linnea. They are very active on our Discord. Hi, Linnea. We love you. Hello. Hi, Linnea. All right. This question, they submitted it a while ago. If your podcast partner was out sick, so if I was out sick or if you were out sick, who from Crescent City? Would you want to be your podcast co-host for the day? I'm going to say we're hosting this podcast, not like a different podcast like this podcast. I might be underthinking this. Well, we did do it on the spot. Well, but for me, it would be Bryce. Speaker 2 (14:57) Yeah, it would be Bryce. Bryce is funny. She analyzes art for a living. She clearly has like attention to detail. She's like, yeah, she's kind of a dick sometimes. Are Speaker 1 (15:09) you calling me a dick? No, no, no. I'm saying Speaker 2 (15:12) she's unlike you kind of a dick sometimes. But I think she I think she would bring funny energy to the podcast while still having. She's clearly like she's clearly smarter than many people that she meets. So I would choose Bryce. Speaker 1 (15:27) I would choose either Danica or Jessica. We're both dead now. But. Speaker 2 (15:34) Are Speaker 1 (15:34) we choosing dead people? I mean, everyone's allowed. I think everyone's allowed. We have necromancers at play here. Now you just got me thinking how fun it would be to have Ethan on and just listen to him talk about absolute fucking nonsense. Speaker 2 (15:46) No, Speaker 1 (15:46) no, I would have to Speaker 2 (15:47) really carry it and he would just react with dumb. Speaker 1 (15:50) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but this is why I would choose Danica or Jezebel because they. know a lot of shit. And this is a details oriented podcast where we get into deep theories. And I wouldn't even need to get into theories with them because they would just know what was going on and they could just tell me. So I Speaker 2 (16:06) do think that Jezebel would kind of like lightly insult you the entire time. It's fine. Speaker 1 (16:11) Yeah, whatever. Speaker 2 (16:12) I should be like, well, like, I know you think that. Have you considered this? Yeah, probably. That is fine. That's OK. I'm willing to I'm willing to put myself through that for Jezebel. For two and a half Speaker 1 (16:24) hours of Speaker 2 (16:25) Jezebel Roga. Yeah. Love it. Thank you, Linnea. Thank Speaker 1 (16:27) you, Linnea. All right. Speaker 2 (16:29) All right, Cosmos. Speaker 2 (16:31) I have one Cosm. It's been a minute since I've pulled Cosms. Yeah, me too. This is kind of an old one. It's kind of old, sorry. This Cosm is a TikTok comment from a friendly. We've talked about Nina before, but this is from just Nina on one of our Hypoxia clips about Hypoxia being bred to have necromancy and why that may have been intentional and what. heck you would line them up to and who Hypoxia's father might be. Nina commented, what if Thanatos is Hypoxia's father? I know we've already had that reveal with Hunt, but we also know Thanatos has a daughter, assuming Thanatos in Agatar is the same as Crescent City, which I think he is. I think this is really interesting because even though we are told that princes of hell cannot resurrect people, right? We do have Thanatos as the Prince of Souls. And what Hypoxia does is very specifically guides souls. Like she says this, right? And like once she's in House of Flame and Shadow, her hands are like wreathed in green light. And like she has all this hell-like capability. Is that just for being in House of Flame and Shadow? Totally possible. But I do think, as we discussed, necromancy doesn't, to me, speak pure resurrection. And so I think Thanatos being... you know, being involved in Hypoxia's creation or just necromancy creation in general could be really interesting. And I like Speaker 1 (17:57) it a lot. And you know, I like it from a completely off the deep end theory perspective, because in Silver Flames, we learn that Lord Thanatos is having problems with his daughter. Speaker 2 (18:07) I don't Speaker 1 (18:09) know if the timeline lines up. This is off the cuff, guys. So maybe assume timey wimey-ness. We know that Hypoxia was kicked out of her coven, right? And was the subject of a coup. And that Jezebel, as we talked about in the Hypoxia episode and might talk about more this episode, depending on where it goes, was basically instrumental in kind of getting her back into a position of power as the head of House of Fleetwood Shadow. And who does Jezebel like to have friendly chats with all the time? Speaker 2 (18:36) Atis. Atis. Yeah. Who Speaker 1 (18:37) is a brother of Thanatos. So, I mean, that would be crazy. I don't really know if that's what's going on, but... We actually, Speaker 2 (18:44) we did do the timeline math at one point. We were talking about Danica and Danica was dead already at the time that that was said. I think it was said during basically House of Sky and Breath. But Speaker 1 (18:57) I think the coup happens in Flame and Shadow. I think Bryce is back. Right. So I Speaker 2 (19:04) don't know Speaker 1 (19:04) that the timeline works, but it Speaker 2 (19:06) could be Speaker 1 (19:06) fun. Could be fun. Speaker 2 (19:08) Could be fun. Thank you, Justnina. Speaker 1 (19:09) Thank you, Justnina. All right. I have also one on our Hypoxia episode. So we talked in our Hypoxia episode about how there seemed to be kind of two different types of necromancers, again, with Hecuba and how Hecuba was able to summon the spirits of the dead. But that didn't count as necromancy for whatever reason. And then Hypoxia is able to like fully resurrect people. Potentially, Speaker 2 (19:30) we haven't really seen the full scales of that power yet because she hasn't really done it successfully. Speaker 1 (19:34) So we got a DM from Michael on Instagram. Hi, Michael. Thank you for listening. Michael DMs a lot. Love chatting with Michael. Michael is great. So Michael wrote, I think there are two types of necromancer that Crescent City has because there are two types of death. There is the short death where the souls are stuck in the various bone quarters and real death where the second light has been harvested. And I think hypoxia can do both types. which is why she is coveted by the House of Flame and Shadow and why she can speak with the recent dead, which any of the Flame and Shadow necromancers can do, and put the recent dead with still having the second light into bodies slash vessels under thrall and communicate with the long dead when they are beyond the underking slash death lands and Midgard. Just food for thought I have. So basically, Michael's saying there are two types of death. And that could be why there are two types of necromancy. Like the first type is you're dead, but your soul is in the bone quarter. And then the second type is, Speaker 2 (20:27) no, Speaker 1 (20:28) you've gone through the gate. Which, if any of you have watched The Good Place, this is very The Good Place-esque. So I really like it. I think it's interesting. I'm not totally sure what works with Hecuba because the spirits that she resurrected were 15,000 years old, I believe. So I think those spirits probably would have fully gone through the gates. I don't know. Maybe not because they're pre-astery. So maybe it's a wholly different thing, wholly different system altogether. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. I like it. Speaker 2 (20:56) What is death? What is death? Speaker 1 (21:00) Guys, it is my goal to one day do a full death in the mass first deep dive episode. I can't promise it'll be on the main feed. It might be on Dragons After Dark, but I would like to dive into these big mass first questions. If we Speaker 2 (21:14) ever Speaker 1 (21:14) run out of things Speaker 2 (21:15) to talk about, I feel like we have a laundry list of episodes. It would be nice to do this. Speaker 1 (21:21) We would love to do this. Speaker 2 (21:23) It sure would be. Speaker 1 (21:25) Fortunately, that's not going to happen anytime soon. Speaker 2 (21:27) All right. Are you saying it or am I saying it? You are doing, you're running the show. Oh, Speaker 1 (21:34) I'm leading. I'm leading this episode. All right. Shall we deep dive? We Speaker 2 (21:39) shall. Speaker 2 (21:49) All Speaker 1 (21:49) right, Ronnie, what are Jezebel's powers? We have ads now. I got to leave pauses for ads. It's getting crazy out here. Speaker 2 (21:57) Okay. All right. So Jezebel's powers are fascinating, in my opinion. Speaker 1 (22:02) I agree. We Speaker 2 (22:03) have not so much on the page, honestly, but we know a lot. So let's dig into it and we can double click if we want to or we don't have to. Speaker 1 (22:12) All right. So Speaker 2 (22:13) the first and most obvious. She can perform spells and enchantments. She's branded a sorceress now, right? So we know, just quick context on Jezebel, right? Just a high flyover in case anybody has forgotten. Jezebel, when we meet her, she's a sorceress who was defected from the witches. We don't know any more than that, but then we learn that she was actually a human priestess at Parthos who was touched, quote-unquote, cursed by Apollyon, given some power. and has been alive for 15,000 years and has this like kind of remnant transformed power from Apollyon that just gives her the ability to do things. We don't really know what the nature of her power is, but she is immortal and mortal. Like she has been alive for 15,000 years. She was a human. She aligned with the witches and then she defected from them. Now she's a sorceress in Speaker 1 (23:05) House of Flame and Shadow. She is, I believe, our oldest character. At least within Akatar and Crescent City, who is not a higher power being, I'm going to say. She's not a prince of hell. Speaker 2 (23:20) Yes, Speaker 1 (23:21) she's not a death god. But she is our longest living character of the normal folks. Speaker 2 (23:29) Presumably, she met and knew Thea and Selene and Helena. Yes, right. Which is Speaker 1 (23:35) fucking crazy. So let's just start there. Let's start there. But that's Speaker 2 (23:39) Jezebel. So she can perform spells and enchantments. I'm not going to call her a witch. I'm not even really going to. Like, she is, I guess, a sorceress. She calls herself that. But she was just a human priestess who was cursed with a long life and power. That has allowed her to perform spells and enchantments. She can put wards into place. We see this throughout the books. She is rumored to turn her enemies or just people who piss her off into animals. We don't see this live, but we get it mentioned. A hilarious number of times, like literally seven times. Speaker 1 (24:11) I'm going to be honest. I don't really think that she can do it. I think this is just her fucking with people. But I like to think that maybe she could. Speaker 2 (24:19) I think it needs to be, if it's not real, a cover up for some other way that she knows a lot of things. Speaker 1 (24:27) Because she's, I Speaker 2 (24:29) would agree. She basically uses it as an excuse for like some of these like old enemies are in my. employ like they want to get their old bodies back. And so they tell me things. Anyways, a few quotes that we have to back that up. House of Earth and Blood, Chapter 1. I will keep this snappy. A 400-year-old, not 400 years old, in Transverse who'd been born a witch and defected. Skip a bit. She possessed an arsenal of spells to rival any sorcerer or necromancer in the darkest of houses. She'd been known to change people into animals when irritated enough. Bryce had never dared ask if the small animals in the dozen tanks and terrariums had always been animals. We also have mentions Speaker 1 (25:05) of monitoring or spells that Jezebel had at the gallery, right? There are a lot Speaker 2 (25:09) of protections around the gallery. I won't belabor the quotes there, but Hunt notices the wards. There's several mentions of those wards. And Bryce's Arkesian amulet, which Jezebel... gives to her allows her to walk through, quote, Jezebel's great awards. This is mentioned in House of Flame and Shadow, Chapter 17. In House of Earth and Blood, Chapter 12, we again get a mention that she could transform people into common animals if they provoked her. And she had been a witch who left her clan. She she was technically a witch who left her clan. That was that was technically true. She wasn't a clan. She did leave them. And then. In chapter 20, we just get another mention. What's up with all the little critters? They're Jezebel's former lovers and rivals. Lehava whispered from her fur blanket. Huntswings rustled. I'd heard the rumors. I've never seen her transform anyone into an animal, Bryce said, but I try to stay on her good side. I'd really prefer not to be turned into a pig if Jezebel gets pissed at me for fucking up a deal. I think, like you, this is like a hint that, okay, you've never seen it. So like, has it ever really happened? Speaker 1 (26:09) It's not only that we've ever seen it. It's that there is no one else in the mass-verse except Tamlin, kind of, but it's not really characterized this way, who has this power, right? Like, this is not something we've ever seen anyone else do, which is not typically how magic in the mass-verse works. But I don't Speaker 2 (26:27) know. Yeah. She is kind of Tamlin-esque, though, right? Like, she can shift. She can change herself. Speaker 1 (26:33) Yeah. Which is interesting, too. Speaker 2 (26:34) She certainly has, regardless of how she uses it. She seems to have a lot of power, specifically in her eyes, right? And I know this isn't really a power, but I just want to read a couple quotes about her eyes. They're said to have power in them multiple times, and we know this is Apollyon's power, which we will talk way more about in another question, so I'm not going to belabor it in this question. But in House of Flame and Shadows, Chapter 45, we get, when she's pissed at Hypoxia, you sound as if you think I should have fought her. You should have, Jessiba shot back, dark. fire flashing in her eyes. A seed of Apollyon's power transformed into something new. Did you even try to hold onto your crown before conceding? So we're getting dark fire. We get this a few times with Jessopha. In House of Earth and Blood chapter 11, even like super early on, we get, this is a nice description in my opinion of Jessopha. Jessopha's flowing navy dress was immaculate, revealing tantalizing glimpses of a lush female body adorned with freshwater pearls at her ears and throat. Her cropped ash blonde hair flowed in the golden first light lamps, cut shorter on the sides, longer on the top. Effortlessly chic and casual. Her face, her face was both young and wise, bedroom soft yet foreboding. Her pale gray eyes gleamed with glittering magic, alluring and deadly. So again, magic behind her eyes. Kind of like early Nesta, right? Like you can just tell there's like something brewing in her. She has this otherworldly power about her. said to move like a reaper. She might not have been a reaper, but she sure as shit moved like one. That's House of Earth and Blood, Chapter 12. And then we do get some breeze from Jessica, and we also get
