This week, we have three stories that will make you shudder. Speaker 5 (2:30) So sit back, listen closely, and dive into the horror. In our first story, a good Samaritan almost meets his untimely death. Narrated by Donovan Shepherd, from Reddit user TheFractalHour. Speaker 4 (3:06) This was probably the scariest moment of my life, and I still think about it all the time. Speaker 4 (3:14) I live in the southern part of my state and have a summer cabin up in the northern part, which is mostly forests and mountains, and I love how secluded it is. One night, several years ago, I was heading north to the cabin after work on a Friday. It was about a four-hour drive. I wanted to get there Friday night so I could spend all day there Saturday and come home late Sunday night for work again on Monday. I had gotten delayed at work, and after a series of events, I finally got going around 7pm. It was probably around 10, 10.30pm when I was driving down the super remote stretch of road in the mountains. It was really dark up there with very few streetlights and no cell phone reception. As I came around the bend, I saw a guy sitting on the side of the road, underneath one of the streetlights, looking down at the ground. Speaker 4 (4:09) Now, this was not a normal thing to see. We were miles, I mean miles, away from anything. We were in a forest on a mountain. So why he was here, I had no idea. The only thing I could come up with was that he had been out walking and that it had gotten too dark for him to continue. Since I'm a bigger guy and don't usually worry about many things, I got concerned for him and decided to see if he needed help or wanted a ride somewhere. As I pulled over, he lifted his face and looked at me. I was a little creeped out when I saw he was wearing a mask. And he wasn't just crying, he was bawling his eyes out. At first, I was even more concerned. But then it dawned on me that he was wearing a mask in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I rolled my window down and asked if he was okay, if he needed help, all the questions. He just looked at me and didn't say anything, tears still streaming down his face. Then he started screaming, bloody murder, shrieking to the point that he was going to rupture his vocal cords. I work in medicine, and I'm super familiar with mental illnesses, such as people having psychological fractures and stuff like that. So my immediate thought was this kid was having some sort of mental break. I put my car in park and started talking to him. I let him know that whatever was going on, he was going to be okay. I told him that I just wanted to talk, to hear what he had to say. I had a bad feeling about this kid, but all my medical training told me to keep talking to him. I was more concerned about his well-being than my own. He was still screaming, so I decided to get out of my car. Speaker 4 (5:59) I was trying to calm him down, talking to him, saying whatever I could think of. My adrenaline was pumping as I took a few steps towards him. And that's when he finally stopped screaming. He stared at me. There were a few moments of eerie silence. I told him I was happy to leave if he wanted me to, but that I was also happy to sit and talk to him. He didn't say anything. He just kept staring at me. Speaker 4 (6:31) That's when I heard rustling in the woods behind him. Two men slowly stepped from the darkness of the trees into the streetlight. They were similar in age, stature, and build. They were also wearing the same masks. I immediately started to freak out. I had no idea what I'd stumbled on. Even though the situation was super weird, I didn't jump in my car and drive away. Instead, I decided to try and engage with the other guys. I asked them what was going on, if their friend was alright. One of the guys kinda hung back and looked away. The other one stepped forward and said that yeah, everything was fine and that I should just leave. I don't know why I didn't, but of course I didn't. I was super curious about what was going on, so I tried asking a few more questions. I could tell he was getting frustrated with me, but I was still really concerned about his friend, who was still sitting on the ground under the streetlight. I asked one more question, and I
